About this property

Spacious family bungalow only a stones throw from fabulous beach

Sandmarsh is a spacious detached holiday bungalow sleeping up to 9, fully furnished and well situated in the lee of the sand dunes at Ynyslas, approximately 1.5 miles from Borth where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and pharmacy / GP. It is a 200 yard walk across the 18 hole links golf course to the fabulous beach - 4 miles of golden sands [dog friendly all year and safe for swimming]. The bungalow has far-reaching views across to the Cambrian Mountains and Plynlimon and is ideally situated for exploring this wonderful corner of West Wales. It is ideal for families with young children, teenagers or adults alike, though it is not suitable for wheelchair users. We accept dogs [up to 2 large/3 small] for a small additional charge. They must be well behaved and regularly de-fleaed, and owners must pick up any mess, double bag it and bin it.
The bungalow is well equipped with everything that you could need for a family holiday, but it is not posh or pretentious in any way - it is a well-loved, well-used holiday home. Parts of its decor and fittings may be considered a bit old-fashioned, but these have accrued over the last 50 years of ownership by our family, and are part of what makes it feel like 'home'.
It has a large living room with plenty of comfy seating, a log fire, telly etc and views to the hills. There are 2 double bedrooms, one triple room [bunks and a single], and one bunk room. The kitchen is relatively small, but well equipped, and there is a large dining/breakfast room with french doors. The washing machine is housed in a small utility room just off the kitchen. There are 2 bathrooms - one with a shower and one with a bath. All linen and towels are provided, and will be serviceable and clean, and we purposely leave some everyday non-perishable staple items such as tea/coffee, oil, herbs, pasta, rice etc and basic toiletries [shampoo etc] for visitor use. We request that these are replaced if you finish them. There are electric heaters in all rooms for winter use.
Outside there is a fenced [but not dog-proof] garden surrounding the bungalow laid to lawn that is safe for relatively young children to play in, a patio area for barbecues, and a double garage. There is a barbecue and deck-chairs etc for your use, and some body-boards/a kayak. There are also some sets of golf clubs for visitor use.
The bungalow has a comfy, homely feel and is a great base for happy family/group holidays or just a quiet break away from it all.

Wonderful

The property was exactly as described: a well-loved, comfortable, unpretentious home. It was fully equipped with everything we needed and more and comprehensive notes about where things were and how they worked. The location was idyllic, with the beach, salt marshes and Borth all within walking distance.

Ynyslas sands

Ideal location. Everything you could possibly think of needing is there from a dog lead, golf clubs, shampoo, herbs for cooking, walking guides, diverse music choices, board games and anything you may have forgotten to bring. Plenty of fresh laundry in the airing cupboard if needed. Lovely host and good communication

Nice location

Lovely location near the beach. The garden was great for the dogs. The house build next door was unsightly but thankfully not too noisy. Could have been cleaner. Nice big bungalow with plenty of room for us all.

Family holiday

The bungalow was perfect for us we were 4 children and 5 adults. Plenty of room inside and a great garden to play safely in. The beach was a short walk away and we all went in the sea some kayaking some wind surfing some body boarding some padding and making hugh sand castles with moats. Perfect location for other days out too definitely recommend

Well located and well equipped cottage

We stayed in this cottage over the bank holiday weekend in May and had a fantastic time. The cottage kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need and the whole cottage has a cosy feel. We went for a walk along the beach every day, and enjoyed watching the lambs in the field nearby from the window. A little chilly due to the unseasonal weather but plenty of blankets and heaters provided!

Homely, well equipped bungalow in great location.

Bungalow is in a great location near beach. Comfortable, lots of room, well equipped with everything you need for a short stay. Had a log fire each evening and electric heaters did the job in other rooms. Homely feel, clean, basic decor and some furniture a bit dated, but this added to the overall comfy feel. Bits and bobs in cupboards etc very useful. Overall good value and very enjoyable stay.

Perfect location

Like stepping back in time, wonderful empty Beach with sand dunes and unrestricted dog access. Bungalow is detached and stands in a large plot overlooking fields. Well fenced none overlooked garden with coastal footpath outside the door. Bungalow is deceptively spacious and well equipped. Lots of things to do in the area for all ages. Excellent value for money would certainly recommend

Need of a good clean

The property is old, damp, mouldy and very dusty and cobwebs Everywhere. The property is also full of the owners belongings books CD pictures ornaments. The house garden is not baby friendly and the property is not disabled friendly. The prop is very close to the beach however is in a very quiet location in Wales with places closing early.

A Cosy Family Break

We had a fantastic family break, our boys 12 & 4 Thoroughly enjoyed exploring all the rooms within the property. With plenty of games and puzzles & even a Wii which went down a storm on inclement days. The bungalow has everything you could possibly need, large living room to relax of an evening with stunning views. We found it very homely and cosy. The location couldn't be better, a short walk down a mysterious path amidst the dunes opposite the bungalow, which leads to the most incredible long sandy beach. It really is a special place, its our second visit to the bungalow and we will be back.

Lovely bungalow with living space and a great location!

As a group of 8 we were happy with the space we had in the lounge to share time together but also the amount of space in each bedroom. Both bathrooms worked really well and we had no problems using any other utilities. The beach is just along a short path directly from the house and found this a great convenience. We never ran out of things to do despite not having a car as the house had variety of things we could use (for example the BBQ and small pool table!). Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Great beach holiday home

We all had a fabulous time at the bungalow. We loved the quirkiness of the layout and the well equipped kitchen. 4 adults and 3 children all had space to play, read and chill together in the relaxing living area. The range of games, jigsaws, books, DVDs and the Wii kept us all entertained when it rained outside. The walk to the beach was literally 5 minutes and a late night fire listening to the waves crashing was fantastic. A relaxing stay for all of us near to beautiful beaches. Our children had lots of fun with the children next door. We will be back next year.:)

A very enjoyable holiday for me and my family. Ages ranging from 7 to 49.

The location of this bungalow home and its close proximity to the beach was amazing. Five minutes walk and you are dipping your toes in the ocean. The bungalow home is peaceful and had everything you could possibly need and a great wrap around garden. You can clearly feel how this holiday home has been enjoyed by the family who own it. It's very well loved!! It's not posh but very homely. It has a great shower and heated towel rails too. The bungalow home clearly needs some money spent on it. It was a shame that the windows, which were clean, were old and had gone cloudy, obscuring the wonderful views and bird life. And if you are only looking for a good base and will be out and about in the daytime this place is perfect. If you have high standards and enjoy perfection and luxury this place isn't for you. I would definitely return if the windows were able to be replaced and the fire place was fixed. It would be a bonus if the floor in the breakfast room could be sorted, as it made all the crockery rattle everytime I approached the fridge. It made me feel like an elephant. 😄

Beach bungalow

The location of this bungalow, literally four minutes from a beautiful beach, was perfect for our needs. It would be ideal with children and dogs too. The added bonus of use of the kayak and dingy was great. The bungalow has everything you need including a good outside space with lovely views of the hills and it’s very peaceful. A great place to relax and spend time with family.

Sandmarsh

We found Sandmarsh ideally located. Perfect for the beach, sand dunes, and the local area. There is a public footpath right outside the front door which takes you on a wonderful walk through the Borth bog or across to the salt marsh. It is great for wildlife lovers and is so quiet you can hear a pin drop. The owners are great communicators and responded very quickly when we contacted them. There is a smell of general dampness which did make it difficult the first night but we left all the windows open and adjusted to it. Overall, if you want a quiet relaxing few days by the coast then Sandmarsh is ideal

Night in a museum

Property was very old, smelled of damp and was full of personal items of the owners. This was stated in the description however, when is opened food in the cupboards ok in a pandemic? The cupboards were full of it. The kitchen was dirty and smelled like a museum, had dirty pans with hairs stuck on them, old, rusty appliances, sticky cooker knobs, sticky kettle, rusty microwave, crumbs on the table. We did not expect anything fancy but the house was so run down, it was depressing. Used soap bar on offer in the bathroom, along with half bottles of various toiletries to use. Perhaps the owners see this as kindness; sharing personal items. Not sure its entirely acceptable, more a case of can’t be bothered to tidy up when their own family have used it? We did get a full, no quibble refund which was good however, we wasted a night and the following day finding alternative accommodation. Just to say we are not fussy, posh people but this house was something else, not seen anything else quite like it!
