About this property

Large 7-bedroom Scottish house sleeping up to 15 in beautiful Highlands setting

The beautiful Biallid House comfortably accommodates up to 15 in 7-bedrooms and is located within Britain's largest National Park, the Cairngorm Mountains. This large and spacious house is the perfect setting for large groups or families with plenty of room both inside and out.

The dog friendly house enjoys mountainous views from almost every room and is available to rent all year round, allowing guests to discover the beauty of the Scottish Highlands in every season.

Biallid is split over two floor with the all but one bedroom located on the first floor. Downstairs, guests will find two large living rooms, a formal dining area with a big table, a well-equipped kitchen, a small games room and a handy boot room; there is also a downstairs double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Upstairs there are six more bedrooms, these include the Master with king-size double bed and en-suite bathroom, two standard double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms, and a triple bedroom with three single beds, there are also three good sized family bathrooms.

Outside the house is a good sized garden with plenty of space for kids to run around, there is also outside seating and a BBQ.

Biallid is located on the edge of Newtonmore, a small town with a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants. There are also two museums, one of which celebrates the history of Clan Macpherson, who were prominent during the Jacobite era.

Also nearby are the Cairngorm Mountains where a number of country pursuits and outdoor activities can be enjoyed. For walkers the Wildcat Trail is accessed in Newtonmore, whilst cyclists will love Laggan Wolftrax. At the local Active Outdoor Pursuits Centre a number of water sports can be experienced. Other notable activities include horse riding and fishing, with guests able to take advantage of Biallid's fishing rights on the River Calder and River Spey.

For guests staying at the house over Hogmanay, a torchlight processions winds its way through Newtonmore before midnight on New Years Eve before a firework display sees in the New Year.

Biallid is a well-equipped house with WiFi, two freezers, a fridge, a dishwasher, an AGA, an electric hob, two washer/dryers, a TV with DVD player and a music system. It is however, its setting and the beautiful views that truly make this place stand out from the crowd.

Great family getaway

A beautiful house situated in a gorgeous location. We stayed for an extended family holiday - ages ranging from mid 60's to toddlers. Great bedrooms with plenty of bathrooms and a lovely aga to warm the house - even in August! Plenty of space for everyone, it never felt crowded, and all the little touches made it feel like home. It was a fantastic base to explore the local area, and didn't feel too touristy (compared to Aviemore). The laundry area was very useful for a week long stay. We were very sad to leave, and if we were to return to the area, this would be our number one choice.

Newtonmore holiday

Great location. House manager very helpful. Good house but problems with electrics and plumbing. When we booked the accommodation listed that there were showers located within the house......this was not the case none of the showers worked. When we reported this we were advised that the booking agent should have told us as you had been made aware of the issue....This was a problem as we had 2 elderly people (86 years old) who could not dafely get in and out of the deep baths. I am disappointed that you did not asvise of this issue.

We've had several family holidays and we all agreed Biallid was the best.

Good communication over the Covid years when we had to keep postponing. Punctual and helpful. Lovely welcome to the house, the accommodation suited us perfectly, warm and plenty space. We also thoroughly enjoyed Netonmore and surrounds.

Perfect family getaway

This house was perfect for our family getaway. There were 13adults, 4 kids and 2dogs that all went and the location and size of house was perfect, the kids thought they were in a castle. Plenty room and great facilities and the wood burning fire was amazing. Amazing memories and looking forward to returning next year.

Wildcats and Goats

Biallid House is a great place to stay to explore the local area. There were 13 of us and we did hillwalking, cycling, museum, wildlife park and other stuff. The is exactly what we expected of a place of this age and was full of character and history. Just watch out for some low doorways! The local goats keep you entertained with their wandering across the driveway and we loved seeing hares in the garden. We really enjoyed the log fire in the evening and the AGA was great. The Wildcat Trail around the village was well used and we loved the painted cats around the village. I fabulous week in a fantastic house- we will be back.

A charming place to stay, step back in time.

The property is a charming place with plenty of room. The house keeper is a lovely lady and made sure we had the best stay. The only feedback I would give is the place is in despirate need of redecoration and some TLC. I would add more showers to each bathroom. Please don't expect all the latest mod-cons, but the charm of the place is amazing. Read up on Aga cooking first.

A perfect stay

We had the most wonderful time at Biallid House - it was the perfect place to bring the family together, and the perfect location for exploring our family history in the Cairngorms. We had a fantastic time and are already planning to come back! Thanks for everything

Good property for a large group of friends or family

I consider this property is good value for money and is in a great location. The housekeeper Jean was very friendly and helpful . It was a bit disappointing on this repeat visit to see that several badly misted up double glazed windows hadn’t been replaced - these have been in this condition for several years and they rather spoil the outlook from the main windows

Large, spacious house ideal for large groups

A large, spacious house perfect for 7 youngsters to run about in and play hide-and-seek while parents and grandparents relaxed on the comfortable sofas! The property sits in superb countryside with clear views to the Cairngorms and has a large garden area for outdoor activities. Jean, the housekeeper, is friendly and very helpful and made it clear that she was only a phone-call away for anything whatsoever. The Aga in the kitchen was not as hot as expected for cooking and took a bit of getting used to, but was a constant source of warmth nonetheless. All the adults agreed that the house would benefit from a good spring clean but, as a holiday home for a week with children running in and out and leaving toys about, the dust didn’t detract from what was an enjoyable family break.

Brilliant place to stay

15 friends spent a week at Biallid House in May. It proved to be one of the most popular venues we have ever stayed in on our annual trips to Scotland. The house is extremely spacious with good facilities and in many ways, quite luxurious. It's great to be able to cook and eat together with so many people and to relax together after dinner in comfortable surroundings. The location is excellent for outdoor activities and just to enjoy the local area and its wildlife. The booking and supporting admin were very helpful.

Biallid

A lovely old manse (I presume) full of character, plenty of room to spread and chill, demon heating system and open fire kept us toasty. Amazing amount of wildlife in the garden and just up the path by the river ... All in very enjoyable

Warm, comfortable, palatial.

We (a group of nine) stayed at Biallid House in February 2024, and used it as a base for our winter climbing trip in the Cairngorm. It was warm and luxurious. The plumbing was a tad quirky - there were no showers, although I understand that the owners plan to rectify that soon. That didn't spoil our enjoyment of the stay, though, and we all appreciated the log fire and views from the front.

Biallid House

Comfortable house that suited our needs, good location. Ideal for large gatherings. Unfortunately showers out of order, but plenty hot water. Good supply of wood for fire. Well equipped for cooking. Adequate fridge/freezer space. Would return for another stay.

Characterful and Elegant

We loved this property. It was amazing inside with lovely views. Seven bedrooms of varying standards, five bathrooms (only two showers) and two separate toilets, huge living area with well equipped kitchen. Grand piano and Aga cooker. Faded elegance and quirky is how I'd describe it. Some things didn't work but it didn't really matter. It sort of added to the charm. Ideal for large groups. Plenty of parking. The outside could do with painting and maybe a nice outdoor seating area. Jean the housekeeper is very helpful and friendly.

A touch of the Highlands

A wonderful location for exploring the Highlands. The village of Newtonmore has so much to offer by way of walks, exploring, pastimes such as golf and kayaking, etc. We ran out of time to do everything we wanted. The house was very comfortable and spacious, just right for our age range of 1 - 67. We had brilliant weather for our week so the only thing lacking was garden furniture for sitting out of an afternoon/evening. Jean the house manager was extremely attentive, ensuring our stay was as good as possible. We are definitely thinking of returning another year.

Great house in excellent location

After discussing with all those who stayed during our week there was a general feeling that the bathrooms/toilets and kitchen could do with more thorough cleaning. Otherwise this is a great house for a family holiday.

Biallid House

Biallid house is a beautiful, stately old manor type home. The house was comfortable and perfect for the family members of the bride and groom to spend a few days together before their wedding. It is conveniently located to the Cairngorms and surrounding areas. Jean, the housekeeper, is a beautiful soul and was pleasant to chat with.

Plenty of hot water

The house was well heated, in fact, so warm in parts we had to open the windows in addition to turning off radiators. There was plenty of hot water immediately on tap which was great when you have 8 sweaty walkers all wanting a shower at the same time.n We were a party of only 8, whereas the house could sleep about 16, and we could have done with more crockery. Otherwise you can’t make full use of the dishwasher.

Walkers Weekend

The welcome from Jean Wyld was wonderful. We all loved the location as there are plenty of hills to climb. It was warm and comfortable and the living room fire was great as it was a very cold weekend. The drying room was great for all the wet boots. There are plenty of toilets but perhaps a few more showers would be useful. we all had a very enjoyable weekend, thank you.

Fantastic house and location for family get together!

Biallid House perfect for family ages from 5-76! Everything you could need plus more. Jean gave us a warm welcome and a fabulous guide to the local area. Loads to do and see for all, the Wildcat walk kept us busy too. Need to change details on the web about the stables being next door they are now in Kingussie.
