Beautiful house in a beautiful location just across the road from the sea with beautiful sea views from the bedroom windows. It’s has everything you need for a lovely comfortable stay & the enclosed garden with the settee & outdoor eating area was lovely, we were lucky with the weather so enjoyed the garden.
Beesands is heaven & has a great Pub & The Britannia. takeaway / eat in place which both serve lovely food.
We all had a fantastic holiday & I’d definitely book this house again if planning another holiday in the area.
Thankyou Deborah x
No 1 Beesands was perfect for our family group of all ages, attending a wedding in Stokenham. We loved the flow of the cottage and really enjoyed the outside space and furniture in lovely sunny weather. The cottage is beautifully renovated and decorated. All very good, thank you so much for a relaxing stay.
Beesands is just this side of heaven.
A quiet location with friendly residents, a pud and restaurant. A beach and rocks with coastal path north and south.
A comfortable house with all facilities overlooking the sea, brilliant !
One word of advice, follow the owners instructions for getting there, roads are a little tight
Five us of spent a week in June at No. 1 Beesands. We were blessed with sunshine all week. The property is very tastefully decorated and well equipped with everything needed for our stay. The view from the bedroom windows out to the sea is just so wonderful. Also, we spent many hours sat around the kitchen table and on the outside seating just relaxing or enjoying a drink or a meal. Straight outside of the property are benches where you can sit and just watch the world go by. We visited the The Cricket Arms pub/restaurant twice - it's only a few doors down from the property - absolutely delicious food. And on the other side of the property is The Britannia - it's a fish and chip takeaway and fish restaurant. We had a takeaway from there and also ate inside once - highly recommended. You do have to book at both places. The South West Coast Path is on your doorstep - and we did a number of walks from the front door of No. 1 Beesands - to Hallsands (the Lost Village), Start Point Lighthouse, East Prawle, Torcross, Slapton and Strete. The views are absolutely stunning. As long as you don't mind a hill to climb, once at the top you will not be disappointed with the scenery. We also visited Greenway (Agatha Christie's summer house) just near Dartmouth. We took the Greenway Ferry from Dartmouth. Well worth a visit - the views are glorious.
We were so happy we chose Beesands to stay in. With the pub and fish restaurant on our doorstep - we did not have to get in the car in the evening.
Deborah (the owner) was always so helpful anytime I had a question, even while we were there. Do follow the detailed instructions she gives on how to find the cottage as the roads are very narrow to get to Beesands.
Thank you Deborah - we had a wonderful stay.
This cottage was warm, homely, comfortable and cosy. It had everything we needed and more. It was a pleasure to return to each day after our long coastal walks.
Lovely location with the ocean on your doorstep, fantastic coastal walks to the left and right and of course walks inland too. Pub and fish n chips extremely close by i.e. both 1 minute walk away. Would highly recommend a stay here, cottage was lovely and welcoming and had everything you would require. Thank you 1 Beesands
No 1 Beesands is the perfect place to spend a relaxing holiday. Tastefully furnished and equipped with everything needed for a stay for up to 6 people. The position opposite the seashore was heavenly and to be able to sit up in bed and watch the changing face of the sea was my favourite part of the holiday. The Cricket Arms pub /restaurant a few doors away served delicious food and in the opposite direction a superb fish and chip restaurant/takeaway meant that there was no need to get the car out to find somewhere to eat. The South Devon Coastal path went right past the front door so for active holidaymakers this was just perfect. The owner,Deborah, gave detailed instructions on how to find the cottage and clear instructions were available at the cottage on how to work all the appliances and recommendations of places to visit. We loved it so much we are going to book again for next year.
Beautiful home from home. The house had everything we wanted and needed for our week in gorgeous South Devon. We had fabulous weather, so we were able to make good use of the garden and the beach, and enjoy all our favourite places in the area. Can't wait to go again!!!!

With a local pub a few doors away and the walk to the lighthouse was amazing we will certainly be back. The cottage has everything you need and is very well kept.

Home from Home
My friend and I had a fabulous 4 night stay at No 1 It felt just like home, I particularly enjoyed cooking on the Aga and listening to music via the Sonos No 1 is a stylish restful home with thoughtful touches in a lovely location. I was the 'paper girl' for the holiday which meant a morning walk along the coastal path the Torcross (1mile each way) for a newspaper each day there are 140 odd steps up and over the hill but the beautiful views are worth it.

Home from home! Beautifully decorated! Our favourite location in the world!
Very clean on arrival.Very much home from home. Great location. Large outside and inside space. Very tastefully decorated, no expense spared! Everything you need to enjoy your stay. If I had to comment on anything, the property lacks wardrobe/ hanging space for clothing. WILL DEFINITELY BE RETURNING!!!

Delightful
Great space, great facilities, warm and welcoming. Right on the coastal path for walking. Start bay and the drive from Torcross to Dartmouth is beautiful with coves and sandy beaches, pretty, plant filled, banks on the narrow lanes - to which the city dweller needs to adjust quickly. Book twice as many days as you think you need; partly due to 50% average rainy days and partly because you'll not want to leave. Brittania 'fish shack,' almost next door, is not to be missed. As good as you'll get anywhere when it comes to fresh fish.

Wonderful South Devon bolthole
Beautifully appointed, spacious cottage with everything we could need for our stay; a home away from home. Wonderful walks on the doorstep - all in all, a great base for exploring this part of Devon. Fabulous dinner at the Britannia (BYO restaurant next door but one to the cottage) - best meal we've had in a long time. To top it all, the sun shone the whole time we were there, so what more could we ask for? We hope to return!

Perfect in every way
The house is perfect, we had 6 people staying over the christmas period and never once did it feel like we were on top of each other. The rooms are spacious, light and finished to a high standard. The open plan nature of the downstairs really makes it a great place to socialise. Location wise, what more could you ask for, directly on the coast with great walks in either direction with local pubs on route to help refuel! Perfect. I can't fault the place in anyway and would 100% recommend. And thanks to the owner for being so helpful.

About the host
Hosted by Deborah Steer
We love the outdoor lifestyle whether it be stroll along the beach with friends and family ,a coastal half marathon or bird watching at Prawle point which is what helped us to decide that Beesands was the ideal location for our retreat away from the South East. However, South Hams also has the beautiful cities of Exeter and Plymouth within easy reach as well as bustling towns of Salcombe,Kingsbridge and Dartmouth to keep you entertained. Not forgetting the warmth and charm of country pubs. For us everything a Great British holiday could ask for!!
Why they chose this property
I first visited Beesands in 1979 on a geography field trip- exploring the outstanding South Hams coastline complete with the village which fell into the sea.It was not until we revisited with 3 young children and Grandparents that we totally fell in love with the breathtaking scenery, peace, tranquilityand just that old English charm that can be forgotten in our busy lives of the 21st century. We saw No 1 for sale back in 2010 but obviously in need of renovation something which was not for us ! Roll on 5 years and after a first class renovation by the previous owners we now have a beautiful home that we would like to share.
What makes this property unique
No 1 Beesands is situated in the heart of South Hams an area of outstanding natural beauty. The South West Coast path runs to the front of the renovated fisherman's cottage steeped with history this makes it an ideal and challenging training ground for the physical holiday maker, as well as-perfect for the photographers and artists among you.Ornithologists will love the mile walk to Slapton Ley the largest natural lake in south west England passing also the Ley at Beesands with its hide also. Neighboring Prawle Point with its Cirl Buntings Project is also a must. Geographers and Historians alike will be fascinated by the history of the area.
