Jarrow, a 19th century coral-stone villa, is nestled on the beautiful south coast of Half Moon Bay, St. Lawrence. Its gentle elevation allows you to sit on the sun deck and watch the fishermen go out to the sea early in the morning , and return with the day's catch -- which you can have freshly prepared in the comfort of your villa or barbecue on the large deck.
The gingerbread-style villa boasts three double bedrooms, two large bathrooms, and spacious mirrored dressing rooms.
From the foyer, living and dining area and well-equipped kitchen, you can enjoy the spectacular views of the sea.
The unique beach at your doorstep. is protected by a reef which makes it excellent for swimming in the day or at night. You might be joined with friendly turtles!
The skylights in the bedrooms and lounge enable you to view the beauty of the moonlight, and to welcome the morning sun.
The southeast breezes of the Caribbean sea continuously waft through the villa, keeping it fresh and cool.
There are ideal swimming and snorkeling conditions for children as the tide is always low in the bay.

We spent 7 days in Barbados and had an amazing time. But I have to say that being in Villa Jarrow was the best part of it all. Its beautiful deck/patio was the highlight of our stay, The Villa is located on the beach, we just had to get down a few stairs from our deck and we were swimming in the best beach in Barbados, We didnt have to take our bags or hire sun loungers. We could just swim any time of the day/evening and come back to our deck and lie on the loungers. It was the best place to gaze at stars at night. All the best restaurant in Barbados are located near the Villa. Cafe Sol was the best and it is less than a minute walk from the Villa. Sandy beach is a couple of minutes walk away. Worthing food court is ten minutes walk away where you can sit in the open and buy/eat variety of food from various trucks. The Villa owner was very hospitable and easy contactable when we had a question to ask. He welcomed us with the best rum punch in Barbados. We had plenty of towels and beach towels. The rooms are clean and have AC. The lounge and kitchen/dining area were well equipped and so fresh with the breeze from the sea day and night.

Super Two weeks

Definitely a great two weeks we had. The weather was spot on, must say the air conditioning in the rooms is a great plus . It could not be easier to have a swim in the sea than it is here. You literally just take a few steps, on the beach, in the sea. With the reef to block any big tides and waves, you are safe to wonder into the sea and we got some great footage swimming with the sea turtles. Location is great for restaurants ( there are a few food courts around with a lot of different food stalls )and happy hour is regular available for that cocktail or beer specials. If needed you can take a reggae bus to Bridgetown, Oistins etc for 3.5 Bajan dollars per trip. Just be warned it could get packed in the minibus taxis, but it was all good fun. And then a supermention to MC Turtleman, super Mike. Anything we wanted or needed he was there to help us out. Fresh fish, even cooked us some. Mosquito candles, waterproof carrier for our phones you name it, he got. He even took us to the Oistin fish fry on Fridays, and got as a table cause it gets ver busy. But his main thing is to take you out on his boat, for some fishing and snorkelling at the boat wreckages at Bridgetown, my daughter was very excited when she caught her first fish , a tuna fish. And got it cleaned and had a great meal. So a great thank you to MC Turtleman, to me super Mike. Timothy the owner was superb and very accommodating and it was a great pleasure to meet him, our paths will hopefully cross sooner than later.

Our stay at Villa Jarrow was nothing short of perfection. Timothy was the most wonderful host and went way above and beyond to make our stay truly special. You will have no regrets choosing this apartment as your home in Barbados and like us, you will definitely come back!

Great location

I together with 5 friends stayed at this property for 8 days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I cannot relate to any of the comments in the previous review.The property was very clean, we had no issues with the kitchen, bathroom or any of the facilities and it was spacious enough for our group. The water pressure and warmth of the water in the showers could be better but this is just a minor issue. Roseanne cleaned the property meticulously, Rudolph was nearly always available to drive us wherever we wanted and Tim was very accommodating with any request we made. The location of this property is fantastic, its only a few steps down to the beach and coffee in the morning on the verandah looking out at the ocean is truly something. It is also very close to numerous bars restaurants and beach bars, you are spoiled for choice We all had a wonderful time in Barbados and this property was an ideal place for us to stay and would return there when we decide to return to this fabulous island

Paradise in the Gap

Villa Jarrow was a slice of paradise in the Gap. The location is perfect, on the edge of the bars and restaurants but still feels secluded and private. The terrace is as good as it looks, access directly to the beach and we were able to swim with the turtles in the bay! Timothy is great, he was on hand although we didn’t need much at all! The only thing which could improve the villa are the showers/ bathrooms but it’s worth staying for the terrace alone! We will be back, it just can’t come soon enough!

Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish

We were greeted by Tim who had a bottle of rum punch waiting for us! The property is totally amazing - everything you need is taken care of but the star of the show is the balcony. Which actually juts out over the beach so the waves go under the decking! The sunset is the best time of day for enjoying t]hat amazing light over the Caribbean Sea. We also met Mike who has a boat moored outside the villa. He took us fishing, snorkelling and a trip up the west coast. I consider Tim and Mike friends and strongly encourage you to go and stay at this villa.

2 weeks of bliss (with children)

We spent 2 weeks in Barbados for my husband's 40th. This wasn't our first time in Barbados but our first time at Villa Jarrow, where we stayed with our 7 year old boy, my sister-in-law, her husband and their 4 year old girl. I cannot really put into words how much we all loved this property. The property was spacious, clean and safe for kids. The location was also perfect for restaurants and bars. The deck (overlooking the sea) was probably the most used and loved area of the property by all - the kids had breakfast there every morning, my son did his homework there, we watched the fishermen go out early and return with their catch, we played games, slept, talked, laughed, bonded and drank a lot of Banks! There were mosquitos in the evenings, but this was not isolated to the property. We had friends and family (c.16) in Barbados to celebrate with with my husband, and no-one escaped them. Tim made sure the property had everything we needed to keep them at bay. Repellents are also readily available in stores. Now to the owner, Tim. I find Tim a very kind and gracious man. He was at the property to welcome us - we had rum punch, talked like old friends and he took us to the supermarket to get supplies for the next day. He also checked on us during our stay to ensure everything was well. Rose Anne the housekeeper was a gem, as was Julia. Julia has looked after kids of previous guests and we used her during our trip. We hope to be future guests at Villa Jarrow and highly recommend it.

What can we write about Villa Jarrow that hasn't been said already. The coral stone villa is unique in its style and the natural stone walls also help to keep the villa cool, especially the back bedrooms. In the living room you get the soft sea breezes and beautiful sunsets. The outside facilities are more than adequate with huge veranda, plenty of recliners, a shower, BBQ, absolutely everything you need. The soft powder sand and pristine clear water has to be seen to be believed. There is occasional seaweed but the tide soon clears it away. You feel you are on a private bay because apart from the odd fisherman you are alone. I've got to be honest and say you do have noise from the Gaps nightlife but that's to be expected if you are living in the middle of it all. The positives far out way the negatives, believe me. Go see for yourself

Fabulous for friends trip

We loved everything about this spot. The listing is accurate, although the pictures don't really do it justice. You will spend all your time on the back deck just enjoying the view or going out for a lovely swim. Host provides plenty of towels and the bathrooms have toiletry dispensers. If you plan to cook, fresh fish can be picked up within a stone’s throw from the house and the kitchen has all the equipment you need (but no pantry items other than salt and pepper – however there is a grocery store in walking distance). The location is also super convenient – so easy to walk to the Gap or adjoining beaches or hop on the Z bus to head to Oistens. There is no need for a car although you can have one here if you’d like. It can be a little noisy at night so that could be a problem for a light sleeper, but a couple of sets of earplugs was all that was needed for our group! Timothy was a responsive host and an all around great guy. We will definitely look to stay here again!

Awesome Location

We stayed at Villa Jarrow for 28 days, the location of this property is second to none. The views from sunrise to sunset are breathtaking. Very close to the Gap restaurants and nightlife as well as grocery shopping and multiple beaches. With direct access to the calm waters of the bay protected by a reef we found no need to travel far. Our host provided exceptional attention we will definitely be returning. It was the best location we have ever stayed at near the gap. Highly recommend.

Charming restored historic home on the ocean

This is a charming, clean comfortable home located at the entrance to St. Lawrence Gap. Although the front of the home is located on a busy street as soon as you enter and close the gate the view is stunning and the home is your own little oasis. And who can resist being able to walk down a small flight of stairs to dive into the ocean and snorkel, swim with turtles or just float. There are great beaches within walking distance as well. In fact mostly everything is in walking distance - dining, shopping etc. Everything you need is in the house and the back porch overlooking the ocean is where you will spend most of your time whether in the sun or shade. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with a welcoming host and housekeeper and a view and water access hard to pass up. It’s also a central location from which to explore the island further if you have a car and only 15 minutes from the airport. It can get noisy later in the evening with music, but we got use to it quickly and it did not detract from the overall experience. Well worth a stay.

Perfect introduction to Barbados

Lovely traditional beachfront house with gorgeous views, fully equipped kitchen, and three air-conditioned bedrooms. You could walk out directly into the water from the porch an additional benefit, which was not expected is the proximity to a huge number of fine restaurants with all types of cuisine.. And importantly, a car was not a problem as there was a small parking place directly across the street from the house.

Good Location / Beautiful Home

Our stayed at Villa Jarrow was perfect. It was exactly what we expected based on photos. The home was comfortable and we felt safe. The private beach access and the sound of the waves created a very zen and relaxing atmosphere which we so needed. Property is in a good location - access to restaurants, bars, grocery store, and main airport. Looking forward to staying again.

We wanted a private on the beach setting where the waves and sounds of the ocean were present and not just a high rise resort this time. That paired with the Primo restaurant next door and the views from there is just heaven. Carlisle Bay is10/15 away and I would recommend if looking for the same ocean experience.

Tim is an amazing host. He accommodated us in every way possible which made our stay very enjoyable. Having morning coffee on the deck overlooking the bay was our favorite part. Perfect location for walking to restaurants/stores and watching the sunsets. Make sure you get in touch with his buddy Mike who will be your personal ambassador for anything and everything!

A wonderful job was done over the two years that it took to restore the property.
The repeat ratio in excess of 60% is a testimony of the vacation experience that is offered at this Historic Property nestled in the heart of most of the requisites for a lasting holiday experience.

2) The best vacation spot on the island! Left on 04/17/2014 for a stay in March 2014. This was our second time spending our vacation at Villa Jarrow and we could not have asked for anything more. The location, view and accommodations were just perfect. We saw many people walking by on the beach, looking at us with envy as we lounged or barbecued on the front balcony overlooking the ocean. In addition to the Villa being a great place to stay, the water out front was perfect for swimming. Clear blue and calm, with beautiful sand bars that we could walk or swim out to. We even saw a sea turtle swimming through the water on many of the days we sat out front.

The location was the best! Despite driving around the whole island, and visiting several other parishes and beaches, we came to the conclusion that we still thought ours was the best of the bunch! We would definitely return again and have recommended Villa Jarrow to many of our friends already. Timothy was the best - he called to check in on us several times during the week always jolly and willing to help us out with any inquiries we had! He even drove us to the grocery store on the first day so we could stock up our kitchen for the week! Thanks Timothy for making our stay as amazing as it was!

What makes this property unique

This Property was built in Barbados a business man from the Industrial Coal Mining Town of Jarrow on the River Tyne in England. Its on one of the best beaches on the Island and one of the unique features of this Beach at Half Moon Bay is the historical practice of fishermen bringing in the days catch of Fresh Fish available in the Bay . The fishermen catch them fresh off the Reef and fillet them ready for the grill !!! Our guest love this experience!!!
At this location you are within walking distance to all requisites for an enjoyable Holiday. A Taxi or hired car is only necessary if you are going for an Island Tour. You can also swim with the Turtles in the Bay... The patio of the Villa Overlooks the Beach..... The Bay is where you will experience a New Years Eve Fantastic Fireworks display on the Water. This is put on by the businesses in the St. Lawrence Gap.
There are many other activities awaiting our guest. If you enjoy lovely Sunsets, or welcoming the morning Sun, looking across the water to a blue Horizon, Jogging along a wide long beach, snorkeling and being within waklking distance to all night life and the best restaurants on the Island then this Villa is your Home away from Home.
