Great experience, wonderful cozy cottage with thoughtful touches throughout. Remote, peaceful location with excellent fishing and crabbing all around you. Fantastic eating at Old Salty's less than a couple of miles away. Very dog friendly cottage and lovely screened in porch area to sit and watch the sunsets. We will be booking again next year.
The space was great and would absolutely stay there again. We brought our dogs and they loved all the green space leading up to the dock.
We had a tech issue with our tv, but it was solved immediately by the property owners after we reached out to them. The TV didn’t work, so they drove into town and bought a new one for us! Never have I had that kind of customer service with a rental. They were beyond awesome and accommodating.
We went to the Sunrise cottage for a short getaway for some relaxation and place to use our fishing boat. Our stay exceeded our expectations. The location is very remote but the cottage is so cozy, clean and welcoming that we wished we could have stayed longer. We ate dinner at the local restaurant , Old Salty's both nights . The food and hospitality were exceptional. The local general store was very convenient for breakfast and/ or lunch. Toby and Kim were excellent hosts. They kept us well updated and gave us suggestions on where to put the boat in and where to eat. We highly recommend the sunrise cottages and we hope to get back there sometime soon!
When I booked this property I was concerned the distance from the city, but it ended being a great asset.
This is the most quiet, scenic, relaxing property i ever booked of over 25 times. I will definitely be going back for a weekend just to relax. I was there for Ironman.
Bed slept good too.
My husband & I had a wonderful stay at the Sunshine Cottage on Hooper's Island. We took our two small dogs which was a real plus. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful location to vacation.
Crabbed with chicken parts off the dock. Caught more than a dozen and steamed and ate delicious crabs. Enjoyed breezes and almost no traffic at this location. Brought our small dog who felt at home. Everything is comfortable.
We had a lovely getaway. The hosts go the extra mile to ensure you have everything you need and to let you know about the area. The screened in porch is a perfect place to read, the kitchen was very well stocked with nice cookware, and the private dock was wonderful for watching sunrises or if you enjoy fishing or crabbing. I definitely recommend this place - just make sure you protect yourself and your pets from mosquitoes if you come in the summer!
Cozy little house with spectacular views of the water plus bald eagle sightings! It was perfect for a quick getaway and we had all we needed to enjoy our time there. Toby was a great host and very responsive. Highly recommended.
We spent 2 nights here and enjoyed our stay very much. We met Toby and he was very informative about the area and available for any problems or concerns. Upon check-in he rushed over with a can of bug spray when I mentioned I was looking for ours. He was very nice and accommodating. The cabin had everything we needed and was quiet and comfortable. We really enjoyed the views and the screened in porch. The area itself was like a step back in time with beautiful scenery and great seafood. We would visit again and stay in this little cute little cottage. They were great hosts!
If only the weather was on our side.....we had a fantastic sunday evening and monday. We got out on the water and saw the sunrise from the dock. Totally worth waking up at 530am! But sadly a hurricane was a brewin' and we got hit with 30 mph winds. Kept us inside tuesday evening and Wednesday. Other than the weather, everything was to be expected. Blackwater wildlife refuge was a great place to kayak. Saw at least 6 bald eagles. Harriet tubman welcome center was a nice surprise - would have been nice to see the museum, but not open when we were there. My husband enjoyed old Saltys fresh fish, but since im a vegetarian, there wasnt many options for me. If u like the quiet with nature as your entertainment, this is the spot.
We had the best time celebrating our anniversary! We arrived by boat, which we kept right on the end of their private pier! From the second that we stepped off of the boat we were greeted with the most amazing warmth and hospitality. We loved the quaint island full of friendly exceptional people that we are so thankful to have met along our journey. We were spoiled by Toby, Kim and Kelly, to say the least. They went overboard to make sure that we had everything that we needed to enjoy our stay to the fullest. Thank you for making our stay exceptional! We will be back!
We loved staying here for 3 days, going down to the dock a few times a day just to see the sunset or the osprey nesting. The house is perfect for the two of us (and puppy), had everything we could want to be comfortable, rain or shine. Loved the firepit at night also. The location is great for reaching Harriet Tubman sights and Blackwater refuge, but also out of the way and very quiet. We would highly recommend the Sunrise Cottage for a relaxing vacation.
This was an amazing property. Toby and Kim are the hosts with the most. The house was exactly as described and very comfortable. The property was amazing and our teen son chose to hang outside with us the entire time because it was so amazing. We will be returning soon!
With bald eagles and their nest in the back on the water to the egrets to the south - the views are just stunning. Very peaceful getaway from the City, the General Market and Old Salty's had the best seafood. Really decorated so nicely. I loved our time the past week on this island I had never been before. Kim and Toby were super kind and helpful. The neighbors were as well. I'd definitely go back.
My husband and I stayed for just under a week at this charming little cottage. We had never been to this part of MD before and we were amazed at the landscape. The cottage is well appointed and the hosts were helpful and communicative. We would have loved to use the fire pit but the weather wasn’t on our side so we did side trips to Cambridge, went sea glass hunting on the island, dined at the town’s only restaurant (which exceeded our expectations) visited the Blackwater NWR and visited the Harriet Tubman Center. All in all, we really enjoyed ourselves. I would love to come back when the weather is warmer and kayak the area. Thanks Toby and Kim!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay! Great location with sunset and sunrise views. The house was clean and so welcoming. The owners were so helpful with local recommendations and check-in/check-out process was easy. A great place to unplug and relax.
