About this property
Groups Welcome, large historic manor next to ancient castle and pub in Wales!
***New Large Covered Hot Tub with outdoor bar and seating area has arrived***
Sleeping up to 19 in our 5 large bedrooms offers really flexible sleeping arrangements for guests, as long as people are willing to share rooms. We welcome weekend and short breaks. It really is the most amazing house and it could well be the oldest lived in house in Wales as the manor dates back to the mid-12th century and was built during the reign of King Henry II.
Guest accommodation is on the 1st and 2nd floors where you have exclusive use during your stay. We do live on site but you are unlikely to see us unless we pass on the driveway while walking the dog. You have your own front door, and key-box for access, there are no shared spaces, the manor is huge and is basically set up as a semi.
Located only 20 minutes from Bristol, 30 minutes from Cardiff, and 35 minutes from the ancient roman town of Bath. It is the perfect location for touring both England and Wales. The Manor is located on the southern tip of the Wye-Valley, which is an area designated for its outstanding natural beauty.
The Manor is only 100 yards from the Norman Castle at Caldicot with its 55-acre country park and lovely walks. Located in a quiet village and surrounded on three sides by a high stone makes this an amazing place to relax and enjoy life.
We do everything we possibly to can to make sure you enjoy your stay but we are always available if there is anything at all you need, even if you've just forgotten to bring something with you, you can always contact us and we will try and help.
The Medieval Manor exudes an inner warmth, and unique charm. Lavishly furnished with antiques this unique opportunity to enjoy life in a medieval manor should not be missed. The manor is a special place but is very much an ancient farmhouse, we welcome groups with children and pets.
On the borders of England and Wales you are perfectly placed for touring both countries. Less than an hours drive to: Hay-on-Wye, Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tetbury, Monmouth, Brecon and the Cotswolds. All of which have a unique individual character and will inspire and entertain travellers.
We can put you in touch with private caterers or for those who would rather dine out the local castle pub is just 100 yards away. We also have a full list of service providers to help you with your plans.
As we live on site we are available if needed, however we give you your space and you are unlikely to even see us. There are no shared spaces, the manor is very large and guests have exclusive use of the 1st and 2nd floors with their own driveway and front door. All of the interior photos shown are of the guests exclusive accommodation.
Please note we often we do not normally start bookings on Saturdays but for short breaks sometimes we can make an exception so it's always worth asking.
We are happy to welcome pets at the manor and now have a completely enclosed front garden.

About the host
Hosted by Becky

I'm originally from Chicago so finding out that I could own something that is 300 years older than my country was simply unbelievable. It was always my dream to have something medieval and, in the manor, I have managed to do just that. It has however not been easy but it has taught me so much. We sincerely love being able to share this amazing house with the public. It is our guests which allow us to maintain and preserve this amazing house for future generations to enjoy. We are only its current custodians, but we have done everything we can to make sure that its story will go on long after we are gone.
Why they chose this property
The manor is an amazing house, and I don't think there is another property so old in the country that can be rented. You really are experiencing history when you stay here. We are on the border on what was once Mercia. The manor is a very special property and we've always been happy to share it with the public as we believe these places should be enjoyed and appreciated so that they can be maintained for future generations. I could go on about the house for a while but the area is also really lovely. Caldicot is a small villiage but not tiny, we have two large supermarkets and the Castle Inn Pub is just a minutes walk away. The castle itself is only two minute walk with its 55 acres of open parkland it is a lovely place to go for walk. The castle is free to enter in the warmer months and have a lovely little cafe in the gatehouse.
What makes this property unique
It is one of the oldest lived in properties in Wales by staying here you are helping to preserve this historic building.
