About this property

Secluded, Exclusive spacious villa with private heated pool, full air-con, Wi-Fi

Azille is a Cathare village with historic buildings, but is complete with modern amenities: shops, restaurants, bar, tennis courts, a nearby lake for water sports etc. Wine tours and visiting Caves are popular pastimes, and there are local markets in Azille and the nearby villages.
Kilima is approached via a gated drive leading into the landscaped garden. A luxury property, Kilima is perfect for a memorable family holiday. Set amid Azille's vineyards and olive groves, Kilima benefits from breathtaking views across the Black Mountains and the Pyrenees. Yet, along with the proximity to the vineyards of Minervois, the medieval city of Carcassonne, a world heritage site, is a short drive away, and the clean, uncrowded , beaches of Gruissan with wind-surfing, jet-skis and sailing available. Narbonne a similar distance away has a picturesque town centre with the Canal-du-Midi, markets and cosmopolitan restaurants.
The 11 x 5m private pool is a much loved feature of the property, particularly in the summer when the local temperature hovers around 30`C! There are pool and terrace lights for night-time dips. It is overlooked by a shaded terrace, ideal for al- fresco dining. The villa is decorated to an unforgettably luxurious standard making for a truly relaxing holiday.
The villa is equipped with Wi-Fi internet and telephone, Sonos, X-Box 360, TV, Blu-Ray DVD with cinema style surround sound system and a selection of DVDs. There is a satellite dish to receive English channels. Rowing machine and Exercise bike along with a Pool table and Table Football are in the Games Room. There is an outdoor table tennis table, and bikes in the garage. The house offers activities for those of all tastes. Kilima truly can cater for everybody's needs and desires.
The very large lounge/ dining room/ kitchen is the hub of the house. Cooking and dining become a truly family endeavour. There is a Gas Barbecue on the covered terrace.
The kitchen is comprehensively equipped: the standard American fridge-freezer/ ceramic hob/ oven/ dishwasher are augmented by an array of gadgets from smoothie maker to fondue set.
The Games room also houses the washing-machine and tumble-dryer.
There is a travel cot and high-chair available. The property is also suitable for wheelchair-users, being mostly on one level.
2 of the bedrooms have king-size beds, and en-suite bathrooms. The other 2 bedrooms have twin beds that can be joined to make a super-king-size bed.
For that extra sense of security, the villa is equipped with an easy to operate security alarm, and electric roller shutters to the windows.

Lovely house

Lovely house, air conditioning a bonus with hot weather peaking up to 39 degrees, and a great pool. Lounge with 3 sofas had lots of room to relax. Owner very helpful and always replied quickly to questions.

Wonderful place

This is our second visit to Kilima. It was as wonderful as it was last time. Susie and Mike are fabulous hosts. The house is spotless and has everything we need. Azille is gorgeous and we have explored the surrounding areas. The pool was perfect. Sunny, hot weather. Thank you again.

Fantastic villa, lovely area

This is a beautiful villa within easy access to all the lovely places to visit in the area. The villa was spotless and the pool lovely ( although access is difficult for people with mobility issues, very steep steps with no rail). The downstairs en-suite bedroom is ideal as it has a walk in shower. The local area has some very good restaurants. Would thoroughly recommend. 5 stars.

A wonderful villa in Azille

This is a lovely holiday home, tastefully decorated and very well equipped. Lots of great features: nice pool, games room, bikes, views over the vineyards towards the hills, and much more. Peaceful setting but groceries are all within easy reach (in a choice of ancient, hill top towns). We had a great time here.

Azille Kilima villa

Beautiful villa with everything you need. Great pool. Super for disabled grandma. Lovely markets nearby. Easy to walk into village for baguettes every morning. We enjoyed wine tasting at Chateaux Guery in Azille. Olive tasting, canyoning, kayaking, local markets and enjoying the restful villa overlooking vineyards and the most amazing view. Thank you so much Mike and Suzie

Post-Covid lockdown break

We stayed in the villa in July 2020. The villa is very spacious and the air conditioning throughout the villa was great on hot days although never needed to use anything other than the bedroom aircons. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with all the necessary mod cons having all sorts of utensils available. The upstairs bedroom has a great view of the vineyards. On rainy days, there are DVDs, books and even some board games available. We enjoyed the table tennis and the snooker table and tried the rowing machine and spinning. The children enjoyed the facilities available. There's a good sized pool which was cleaned while we were there and the owners were very prompt to respond with any queries raised. We visited Carcassonne which we enjoyed and explored the beaches which were around 40 min away. Great spot for some local cycling routes - just remember to factor in the wind!

Superb

Came here to celebrate a special birthday and couldn't think of a better place to do it. The villa is very spacious, there were five of us but could easily accomodate eight. Perfectly laid out mostly on one floor with a fantastic master bedroom with a balcony with gorgeous views across olive groves and vineyards upstairs. The kitchen has every possible bit of equipment you could wish for. The games room and table tennis made for great fun and the swimming pool is fantastic and looks very pretty when lit up in the darkness. Although we had a bit of rain you can still sit outside on the covered terrace which would also provide a nice bit of shade in the hot months. The lounge has three large comfy couches and a nice big tv that picks up british channels( if you can't do without strictly for a week) Also a library with lots of books and dvds as well as an Xbox . The villa itself is within easy reach of Carcassone and the very pretty village of Minerve with its jaw dropping gorge as well as the beaches at Nabonne and Gruissan .When we went we practically had beach to ourselves although I'm sure a bit busier in summer. Numerous resteraunts close by we particularly enjoyed La Peniche on the banks of the canal du midi in Homps. The canal is also great for a walk along its banks and watching the boats go by. All in all a fantastic relaxing week in a wonderful villa would love to return again . Hamish,Val ,Mairi, Euan and Grandad Malcolm

Lovely holiday villa

We had a lovely week mid-August at this wonderful property with its stunning views. The house was really spacious with the large picture windows giving us views to remember across the Aude valley. The same windows also meant that the rooms could heat up pretty quickly so the efficient air conditioning was really welcome. The kitchen and the house were well equipped and our children (11 and 8) loved the both the pools (table and swimming!). We found that there was often a fairly strong breeze (albeit warm) which meant that we could only make limited use of the outside table tennis table. We also made great use of the bikes at the house, cycling into the local village each morning to buy our boulangerie treats. There was lots of information on local restaurants provided with the villa and comprehensive information on the house itself; both really helpful. With two active boys, we did struggle slightly to find external activities to tire them out; we enjoyed the kayak along the Aude (recommended at the villa) and a day out in Carcassonne but otherwise, found many of the local villages were quiet in August as a result of local holidays. In contrast, for the adults, the location of the villa (just outside Azille) made it an ideal place to relax, unwind and enjoy a very laid-back week.

Fantastic holiday home

We had a wonderful week in this beautiful property. The place is tastefully decorated and there is everything you need for a great holiday. We especially loved the pool, bikes, games room and the table tennis. The area around the property is beautiful with stunning views of vineyards and olive trees. The surrounding villages are quaint with a great range of restaurants with friendly, helpful staff. We loved every minute of our holiday and would highly recommend it.

Spacious well equipped property with good facilities even if weather not great

Nice house, just a few hundred metres outside of the quiet village so you can walk / cycle to the local boulangerie/ shop/ bars/ cafes rather than drive which was good . Weather not great some days when we were there so was great to have the good games facilities including table tennis and pool table at the house in particular. We also made lots of use of the tennis court in the village ( a bargain at only Euro10 for the whole week and the staff at the Mairie in the village were very helpful) Excellent library of books, DVDs etc at the house and wifi was excellent Didn't travel to far afield during our week but well worth a trip to Gruissan where we enjoyed some excellent cocktails down at beach and dinner at the harbour. Avoid Carcassonne in August if you don't like crowds.

Beautiful views in a great location.

A lovely villa with all the mod cons, there is every gizmo and gadget in the kitchen you could possibly need. The photos do not do the property justice it has oodles of space and is tastefully decorated. Its in an excellent location, perfect for exploring the area including the Med, Carcassonne, Narbonne etc.. Its a shame we didn't book for 2 weeks!

Fabulous!

Spent a wonderful week at this lovely villa. It was incredibly well equipped, clean and with stunning views. If I could find any fault, and it is very hard to do, it would be that the pool was a tad cold, but as I was the only one in my party to think so, I really am stretching it! The owners were very helpful and prompt with any queries, and my deposit was returned quickly with no fuss. I would definitely recommend this villa and hope to go back soon!

Excellent Holiday Property

Th property was excellent well appointed and enjoyed a fine aspect with views across the valley. The listed description was accurate but unfortunately a fire had disconnected the property form the Internet. I am sur now that France a telecom has resolved that issue. The property was clean and well maintained. I would commend this pro pry to a friend and relative. We enjoyed ourselves enormously.

Fantastic time had by all

Just thought we would drop you a quick e-mail and say thanks very much for a fantastic stay at Kilima. The standard of accommodation was superb! The house was fitted out with just about everything you could ever wish for. We all had a fantastic time and we were very lucky with the sunshine as well. The little village of Azille was lovely and the wine co-operative selling very drinkable Red and Rose at 1 Euro a litre could not be beaten!!! The views from the villa were fabulous and i will miss them very much. We would have no hesitation in recommending Kilima and would very happily stay again if we return to that part of France.

Excellent villa lovely location.

We have stayed in a number of villas in France over the years and this is by far one of the best. The location on the outskirts of the village of Azille is an excellent base for exploring the area. The villa itself was furnished and equipped to a very high standard. Loved the layout of the ground floor - the open plan kitchen and living room was great for being together but having your own space. All the bedrooms were a good size. Loved the area too; lots of restaurants within easy driving distance, a good selection of shops and supermarkets. Carcassonne, a 30 minute drive away, is well worth a couple of visits. We all really enjoyed the holiday and would recommend to friends and family and would think of booking again.

Highly Recommended

Kilima continues to impress and is every bit as good as earlier reviews claim. We had a fabulous stay with our grown up children and their partners and appreciated all the mod cons. The villa is furnished and equipped to a high standard and we wanted for nothing (apart from possibly a bit of pool heating - but there had been several cold days and nights before we arrived and by the time we left it was warmer again). The area offered more than we had hoped for and we found ourselves busy with different things every day. The near by village is quaint and has basic amenities, the Inspire Wine Bar and Gallery comes highly recommended as do their Taste du Langedoc wine tours. The lake and Canal du Midi are a short bike ride away (great fun on the in-house tandem), castles, beaches and mountains all within an easy day's drive. We especially loved Lastours. Mind you with stunning views over vineyards and olive groves from the villa, the pool and games room you could easily stay put. Our only complaint: we hadn't booked for 2 weeks.

An excellent location and even better property.

There was nothing more we could ask of the owners or the property to make our stay any better. The owners were extremely helpful from the outset and ensured we had everything we could possibly require. Even the rare thunderstorm when we arrived did nothing to dampen our first impression of the property. There has been a meticulous provision of everything a family can possibly need on holiday; every bedroom was immaculate and comfortable and the communal area was very spacious and enabled everyone to have their own space. Table football, Pool and table tennis as well as a wide screen television and voluminous DVD library to suit all tastes kept everyone entertained whilst dinner was cooking in the kitchen which, without exception, had everything you could possibly need. Within a five minute walk along a quiet road is Azille which serves all your day-to-day requirements (including wine tasting). A short drive away is the amazing medieval city of Carcassonne and the beautiful beach at Gruissan. We look forward to returning and have already recommended this property to our friends.
