Jamesey's Cottage is a charming stone built holiday house. The house overlooks Caragh Lake on the Ring of Kerry, on the Wild Atlantic Way and has fantastic views of Dingle Bay and the lake. The home has been built using natural stone, wood beams, slate and teak windows and features a vaulted lounge with a stone fireplace. The large cottage (250sqm/2650sqft) has 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and sleeps 11 people. The home is ideal for 2 families or 1 large family. Sorry, strictly no pets.

The lounge/dining room has an open fire with comfortable sofas. The oak dining table seats up to 11 people. There is a bay window overlooking the patio gardens and lake.

Upstairs there is an ensuite bedroom with beautiful views of the lake and mountains. Also a games room with sofa and DVD player.

Downstairs there are 4 bedrooms, two with ensuite bathrooms and two that share a family bathroom.

The patio overlooks the lake and has outdoor dinning table and chairs. There is a fire pit and BBQ. The area is ideal for warm summer evenings.

Perfect peace

The cottage was much more spacious than we expected and the games room was a huge bonus for 3 active boys. The setting was superb with the most wonderful views all around. The goat herd at the bottom of the garden a delight for us all. The absolute peace was magnificent with only nature's sounds. The kitchen was very well equipped but a sieve would have been good. The colander was huge. The shower trap in the attic bedroom had not been de-haired for months, so I fixed that. We had an absolutely fantastic stay and the children all want to come back.

We will be back!

Location is a slice of heaven - a car is a must! This stunning property is equipped with all you need for an off grid break. Sheep and bunnies visit daily and the views are sensational. Only downside is the amount of flies inside the property - we tried to deal with this daily but we kept losing the battle and this was a little soul destroying. Perhaps the property would benefit from a full deep clean on a more regular basis. On the whole, we can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely amazing stay at Jamesey’s Cottage!! The views from the cottage were unforgettable

Myself and 7 friends had an amazing stay at Theo and Clodagh’s property. Spacious and quiet with amazing views over the lake. The facilities were all great quality and communication very easy. Not far from loads of different attractions and lovely pubs. Well be back again!

Fabulous stay

Brilliant place to stay. 50th birthday celebrations with old mountaineering friends and their families. The house was perfect. A great base for the mountains...with some wild swimming as well. Thanks Theo. Your house is fantastic.

Fabulous views, wonderful location

We had an amazing stay here, the location is breathtaking. The house was a great size with plenty of room for a large group. There was also a generous amount of cutlery and crockery. I would recommend getting a rotary clothes line as the one drying rack was not enough for our numbers. The house is off the beaten track so a car is needed but that is part of the attraction. We would definitely recommend it.

Wonderful family break

We’ve had the most amazing break in this beautiful spacious cottage. Very clean and well kept. Surrounded by the most stunning scenery and breathtaking views. Although the cottage is very remote it is worth it for the spectacular location. The outside area around the cottage is ideal for young family’s.

Lovely week in Killorglin

We just came back from a great week in Jamesey's Cottage and I have no hesitation in recommending it to others. The house is large, tastefully decorated and well equipped. The grounds are substantial, well maintained and with incredible views over Caragh Lake. We had a great time visiting Killorglin, Valentia Island, Inch Beach and the lakes of Killarney.

Fantastic house, good location

This large house was perfect for a large family get-together: excellent living/dining area, big benefit of the upstairs games room, kitchen well kitted out. Large garden with walks possible from the house itself. It's at the end of a long, winding road - fine in August, more challenging in winter. Good base for lots of Kerry touring, walking, water sports, all of the tourism opportunities on offer.

We celebrated the New Year with family and friends.

We had a full house with 3 families staying. We enjoyed hillwalking and some pubs. We celebrated the New Year with great music and singing. A fun time was had by all, including the younger generation aged 14-22.

Fine house with a breathtaking view to the lake

You probably like to have a GPS to get there but it is sure worth the trip. The house has all the comfort you wish. We were two families with 5 "big kids" (or rather young adults), and there was room for 2 more persons at least. The parents really enjoyed the ensuite separated bathrooms. The kitchen is very well equipped and the room you will enjoy the most is certainly the dining room with a breathtaking view to the lake downhill and even Dingle Bay sea in the distance. It is definitely a remote place so having a car is a must as you cannot make any shopping in a walkable distance, but you will enjoy the quiet environment. And you know what? we had a lot of SUN there (yes Ireland can also be sunny :-)

Another great stay!

As promised in September 2010 we returned to Jamesey's cottage, and once again we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. From the moment we first contacted Clodagh and Theo to the time we let Catherine know we had left, and where she could find the key, we were treated warmly and with respect. As was the case previously, the house was perfect. We, and our guests, thoroughly enjoyed our stay and everything about the house was perfect. The house was spotless when we arrived and everything was in good working order. Absolutely no issues (well, almost none) arose and when we did have a question Catherine was readily available to respond. The house has pretty well everything you would need already on hand and is well equipped to handle a crowd, no matter how big or small it might be. But most charming are the neighbours. The surrounding fields are full of sheep, rabbits, birds, some impressively large goats and even the occasional cow and they are all a joy to watch. If you want some peace and quiet this is definitely the house for you. Living in the middle of a city that comprises 3.2 million people we really appreciated how peacefully quiet the house is. Clodagh and Theo, once again, thanks. Your hospitality, and understanding, were/are truly appreciated. And lastly, we will once again return to our home away from home. See you soon. Martin. PS……..Theo, I can guarantee that NO sheep entered the inner sanctum.

Training base for athletes

I brought a group of elite athletes to train in the area (hills, sand dunes etc), this was one of 3 locations we used to house the athletes, Jamesey's cottage was 'home' to 8 of them. The accommodation was fantastic - really warm and comfortable with plenty of space. Most evenings there were between 15 & 20 people in the living area where (as a group) we watched TV or were entertained by some of the group who also happen to be great musicians. Would definitely use Jamesey's cottage as a base again.

A 40th birthday weekend

I rented Jameseys cottage for my 40th birthday and invited extended family down for the weekend. There was 12 in total - 7 adults and 5 children. The cottage more than catered to all our needs. The kids loved the attic space, I didn't see them for the weekend : ) they had books, dvds, games at their disposal and all in a really cool hangout. As for the adults - the kitchen was extremely well stocked with all the necessary utensils, the lovely fireplace with a fine basket of logs and briquettes was used, the sound system was excellent for our party mix on the ipod, bedrooms again lovely and showers fantastic. Haven't mention the location which was certainly a highlight of the cottage, its situated in a beautiful scenic and private spot and we had the added bonus of really nice autumn weather which made it perfect. I would highly recommend this house, thanks again Theo and Clodagh. Note : for wheelchair users there is a step into front door and patio door that could inhibit entry or exit but indoors is fully accessible.

Beautiful large holiday home with splendid views

Well equipped and furnished free standing holiday home, built on hilltop, with great views over Lake Conaugh and Kerry Mountains. It's a 10 min drive-by-car from nearest village with supermarket (Killorglin) " Love peace and quiet" We had a perfect stay there with 12 friends and the weather was perfect !

A true home away from home.

This property (Jamesy's Cottage) was truly outstanding and greatly exceeded our expectations. Set in lovely countryside the house itself was splendid, with fantastic views of the surrounding territory. Every possible amenity was available in the house and we truly felt at home. The location is close to Killorglin which in turn offered up restaurants and an array of shops in which to acquire all necessary provisions. But at the same time it was amazingly quiet and tranquil. The only real neighbours being the sheep and rabbits that wandered the nearby lands and road. The views over Dingle were truly stunning and certainly went a long way to ensuring we had a relaxed and highly enjoyable stay. The house was very clean and everything was in perfect working order. With 4+ bedrooms and 3 bathrooms all of our needs were easily accommodate. Clogah and Theo provided excellent customer service prior to our arrival and locally Catherine was readily available in the event of a problem. I would recommend this location to anyone wanting a relaxing and tranquil holiday home. For those into walking the surrounding area proved to be very good, while for those wanting to travel further afield (Dingle, Ring of Kerry etc) the house was well suited to being a base for touring the Kingdom of Kerry. Having rented homes in Ireland for many years I can state, without reservation, that is was the best one we have rented to date and I would be hard pressed finding something better. In short, we will be returning.

Simply Amazing!

My Wife and I just got back from a short holiday at Theo and Clodagh Lyttle's wonderful cottage. The place is fantastic and I can't say enough about both the beautiful location or the property. The drive and small unmarked countryside roads to the cottage were an adventure for a couple of Americans who are used to super highways but it was fun and the scenery was amazing. We enjoyed setting off driving never knowing what small town we would arrive in. We went into Killorglin and ate a Nick's one night and the food was great. The other night we stayed in and enjoyed a nice fire in the fireplace. If you are looking for a place to stay on the ring of Kerry this is it! The cottage was immaculate and everything worked as advertised. We hope to reuturn again some day. It was a very nice but short holiday break from the busy hustle and bustle we are used to and the only traffic I ever saw were a few sheep on the road :-)

Well maintained, quiet, retreat

Jamesey's cottage was a wonderful place to stay for our trip to Ireland. Our two families traveled together with a total of 5 young children. The house was more than big enough to accommodate everyone. There was space for the parents to relax while the kids played in the loft. The kitchen is well appointed for meal making and there was adequate facilities for showers/baths/laundry etc. The house sits about 12km out of Killorglin, however once you know the route, it is a pleasant drive. Killorglin is larger enough to get all the grocery items you need for your stay and is well located for traveling throughout Kerry. Clodagh was most helpful getting us set up for our arrival and departure and the house was clean and ready when we arrived. The kids mostly enjoyed the sheep that slipped into the yard when we forgot to close the gate one morning and watching the Dads shoo them away. The parents enjoyed the peace and beautiful scenery. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We really enjoyed our time in Ireland and can't wait to return some day.

Beautiful views!

We had a great stay at this house! The views are amazing and it is very peaceful. Two issues we had: the advertisement with VRBO states there is a dryer. Our group of 7 packed lightly for this trip so we needed laundry service at the house. The dryer is not an actual clothes dryer, but is only a line dryer. This was not convenient at all for our group. The other issue was the 4.5-5 mile road leading to the house. Be aware that it is a VERY narrow road and will take some time to navigate each and every time you make a trip out by car. Other than those two issues, I would definitely recommend this place!

Girls getaway

What started out as a golfers trip changed to a siblings and significant others trip with the girls (9) staying at Jamesey’s Cottage and the boys (9) staying at a different location about 16km away. We had a fantastic time at Jamesey’s Cottage with the awesome views from a beautiful home. And, had we been able to pick the weather we would want for our trip, we couldn’t have picked better, it was fantastic. Hope to come back in the future.
