Sand Dollar is a two bedroom cottage at Marley Beach Drive, South Shore, Bermuda. Located on the hillside overlooking and with direct access to private Marley Beach. The beach views are just great!

Sand Pebble is a rare gem in Bermuda for the visitor who doesn't want the large hotel and prefers to get out and do their own exploring and discovery while staying in one of the most romantic, private and beautiful settings in Bermuda!

Recently refurbished, this two-bedroom beach cottage with kitchen, living/dining room with flat screen cable TV reverse cycle a/c throughout, two full bathrooms, is ideal for two couples or a family of four plus.. King size bed in the master bedroom and a king size bed (two twins) and a twin bed in the second bedroom.

Sunrises, Sunsets, Snorkeling and Whales. Sand Dollar faces south, and no matter the time of year or weather, the sunrises and sunsets are beautiful and memorable.

Whale watching with frequent sightings of migrating humpbacks early in the mornings and early evenings during March, April, and sometimes into May, June and beyond. The whales are often within half a mile of the beach as they come in during the night to protect their young.

You can even see large parrot fish feeding on the reefs close to the shore right from Sand Dollar’s patio overlooking the beach.

Paradise Found

A very special little place. We are a family of 4 from the Scotland with 2 younger children (7&11). Sand Dollar was a spotlessly clean, very welcoming and comfortable little house. The beds were extremely comfortable, loads of hot water, washer/dryer and all essentials supplied. Such a treat to fall asleep listening to the tree frogs and waken up to the priceless sunrise views. Kitchen is small and is well equipped with all items barring a dishwasher, but for our family it worked well. Outside there is a private patio with table, chairs, umbrella, has BBQ and loungers. Ideally located with bus stops outside in both directions, yet zero road noise (just the sound of the surf). Check in was friendly, smooth, informative and welcoming, as was all the pre-arrival communications via email. Extra big thank you to Gordon for arranging a day pass for us at the nearby beach club following check out on our day of departure ahead of a 9pm flight…we thoroughly enjoyed it. The private beach beneath the accommodation at Marley is - much like the rest of the island - quite magnificent. Felt very grateful to have it literally on the doorstep, shared only with a handful of guests. Really fun to explore the adjacent beaches at low tide, though for younger children, the surf can be big. On rough days, we hopped on the bus up to Elbow beach. All in all, an exceptionally beautiful spot, and Gordon & Steve couldn’t do enough to help make our stay just perfect. Thanks from us all!

This property is in a beautiful location, with steps down to the private beach it is ideal in many ways. The property itself is quite modest and dated, but the rooms are large and airy with very comfortable furniture. It has pretty much everything you could need in terms of appliances: blender, oven, microwave. There are plenty of good walking spots nearby. The property feels quite remote as you can hardly get to anywhere without a car. There is one walkable restaurant Lost in the Triangle, but you wouldn't really want to walk that road at night. You really need your own transport to get around, otherwise you're getting taxi's to and from the supermarket (ofc you can get home delivery but this isn't ideal for picking up a few more beers - plan ahead!) The other thing with the beach being a private beach meant it wasn't really regulated. We had a problem with the Portugese Man o'war that were littered everywhere making a large portion of the beach unusable. Once they had died they rotted in their masses causing lots of flies making it far from ideal to want to sit down and relax on the beach. We did mention this and ask for the beach to be cleared to no avail. This makes it very hard to compete with beaches like Horseshoe bay that are very similar in loveliness but are constantly be cleaned up. This felt quite a big problem for us as a HUGE draw of this property is the private beach. Gordan was a huge help on arrival and drove me to the shop which was absolutely brill

Fantastic location! Friendly owners! Home from home and couldn't be more perfect!

What a super location. The view is phenomenal and perfect for going down to in the morning with a cup of tea. The apartment was clean and catered to all our needs. Totally recommend the bus pass Steve offers. It's right outside the cottage in both directions and very frequent. We wanted to experience Bermuda to the fullest and this location, you cannot beat. Better than a hotel as it keeps the costs down and our barbecues and swimming with the fishes on our beach were great....even in January! Can't recommend Steve and Gordon enough. They did everything they could to make our stay the best it could be and very realiable in communicating with us. We will definitely return....fantastic value for money. Xx

Dream cottage!

We just took our mom to Bermuda to celebrate her 85th birthday and were fortunate enough to find this wonderful cottage for the week. It was absolutely perfect. The view alone takes your breathe away. Waking up to the sounds of the waves breaking and crashing on the rocks, watching the sunrise every morning, snorkeling from the beach, exploring the beach and finding the ruins of the Bermudian beach club, the central location and access to the bus stop and grocery store were great, the cottage was spacious, comfortable and well equipped, the beds were great! I could go on and on. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit!

Perfect for a family getaway!

Just got back from a 5 day getaway at Steve's Sand Dollar Cottage. Our two young kids (ages 4 and 1) had a great time. The 4 year old just loved playing in the pristine sand and the 1 year old just wanted to walk around the spacious air conditioned cottage. Everything you need is really there in the cottage except the food, but Steve and his good friend Gordon (who checks you in) are there for you from the moment you book in advising what to do (stop by the supermarket on the way in). Gordon is great and was so helpful. I echo everything everyone has said about the view. It is spectacular, especially from the master bedroom. If the place is available, don't hesitate to book!

Why Would You Want To Leave

In early June our family had the great pleasure of attending a wedding in Bermuda which was only made more memorable by the venue of Marley Beach. The unbelievable views speak for themselves and I could do no better than the photos that our gracious host, Steve, has posted. The cottage was immaculate and well fitted out for the four of us but could easily have accommodated one of two more and with friends and family also staying in his other adjacent properties many a social dinner was had. While normally I would not comment on the TV in a vacation rental it was the start of the World Cup and the large flat screen was welcomed for a couple of mid afternoon matches. Steve, our inn keeper and guru of all things Bermuda made booking accommodations easy and deciding what to do and see easier with his spot on recommendations for food and fun. Steve arranged for us to be able to purchase bus passes on arrival and with a bus stop at Marley Beach is the most convenient way to get around. His suggestion to have the cab driver stop for basic groceries on the way in the from the airport insured that a welcoming Cuba Libre on the patio was ready within 10 minutes of arrival. Way to go Steve. A fantastic stay in a truly memorable location.

Week vacation at Sea Song

Just got back from a week stay at Sea Song cottage which is adjacent to this one. These cottages are some of the best Bermuda has to offer. They're clean, spacious, updated and the location is fantastic. As you can see in the pictures, the cottages overlook the ocean in almost every direction. And walking down the hill, you have a beautiful private beach to enjoy. Truly amazing place to enjoy Bermuda's beauty. No wonder these cottages book so far in advance. Bermuda's hidden treasures.

FABULOUS

Absolutely fabulous stay at Marley Beach in the Sand Dollar cottage. First, Steve is a great man - booking the stay was simple and Steve was extremely helpful with all of my questions. Second...the 'cottage' far exceeded our expectations. We have a family of 5 including 3 kids - ages 20, 19, and 16. There was plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen was great and we were able to eat breakfast and several dinners at the cottage. The cottage is quite close to many of the fabulous south beaches. The snorkeling and swimming at Marley Beach was amazing and quite private! The kids had a blast snorkeling all over Bermuda. It was great to arrive home in the afternoons and be able to take a dip in the water. The pictures do not do justice of the view from the outside deck...AMAZING - my friends could not believe that the pictures I took from the back patio and the master bedroom were copied from the internet...it took some convincing for them to believe that we were taking them from the cottage. The close proximity to the bus stop was a big help in cutting down on the cost of cabs. I can truely not say enough about how great this cottage was - the proximity to everything, the helpfulness of Steve, the space we had, the views, the beach...I cannot wait to go back. Lastly, Steve is close by if you need him but definitely not intrusive. He provided us with a phone to us during our stay - quite a gracious host. LOVED THIS PLACE!

Our Perfect Vacation

Our family of 6 stayed at the Sand Dollar cottage this past June. From the moment we arrived at Marley Beach, we knew we had chosen one of the best accommodations on the island. Sand Dollar has "everything" a family could possibly need to feel at home, yet on an exotic vacation! The views from the cottage; especially the master bedroom and the deck are exquisite! Bermuda is so clean, the weather is perfect and the people are so kind and helpful. This is our new most favorite island.... When we return, we would not even think about staying anywhere else! Wonderful Bermuda location

Our family stayed in the Sand Dollar Cottage in Bermuda in early May of 2012. Although our trip happened to coincide with a cold front in the Atlantic, meaning we were not able to swim and relax on the beach as much as we had wanted to, the comfort and convenience of the cottage offered us the relaxation we came for. The cottage has two beautiful bedrooms, with the master one overlooking an unbelievable view of the water and cliff. And the water was only a few steps away down below --- crystal clear and inviting despite the cold. Although tourists cannot rent cars in Bermuda, given the small size of the island we found navigating it by bus was not too difficult and even fun as we watched the bus driver navigate the small streets with precise skill. We only stayed for one week, but had plenty of time to explore most of the beautiful island, visiting the parishes, hiking on the railway trail, and interacting with the friendly locals. During our visit a cruise ship docked and so we had a sense what the island is like with few tourists and with many. The former situation is more peaceful, but fewer restaurants are open and less events take place in downtown Hamilton, the capital. The latter situation makes for more crowded buses and restaurant lines, but the whole island seemed livelier at the same time. We bought our own groceries and brought them to the cottage by bus, which is an ordeal but is less expensive than always eating out. The restaurants in Bermuda are definitely expensive, since everything is imported. All in all, the people are friendly, the island is simply picturesque, and the activities (including scuba diving) are good reasons to visit this island and especially to stay at the Sand Dollar Cottage. We thank Steve Martin, the owner, once again for his dedication, help, and hospitality.

Better by the day

My fiancee and I chose Bermuda and the Sand Dollar as our honeymoon destination, in part because neither of us had ever been there before. Steve was very gracious and helpful from the start, providing helpful information and a beautiful cottage. We explored every bit of Bermuda by every means of transportation: foot, pedal bike, scooter, bus and ferry, and the more we saw the more we felt this was the perfect location: convenient to bus stops, the Rail Trail, parks, markets, and the Swizzle Inn Warwick location. The kitchen allowed us to have breakfast and several dinners conveniently on our own patio, where the view was absolutely beautiful. The private beach was the icing on the cake.

Perfection.

My family and I stayed at Seasong just this past week (and just after the previous reviewer).   I agree with him completely.   We could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay for our family of 4.   I am a native of Bermuda and was back for a visit "home".   This cottage surpasses the "average" Bermuda home.   The furnishings are upscale and beautiful, the amenities are abundant and the view is breathtaking.   My children walked in and went "WOW!".   Every possible thing you could need is already there; beach towels, umbrellas, chairs, hairdryer, ever possible kitchen utensil/dish.. you name it.  They have thought of everything!  The semi-private Marley Beach was right there, a short walk down a staircase. Perfect for waking up in the morning and taking a walk or a swim. My 10 yr old daughter delighted in splashing in the tidal pools and walking the beach at low tide. My 16 yr old son spent hours riding the waves. We didn't even use the Kayaks that were available; only because we ran out of time. I can not say enough about the owners.  They were amazingly gracious and accomodating, yet were never intrusive.  If you are thinking of staying in a hotel, please reconsider.   Seasong will make you feel like you own a little piece of Heaven. If only for a week.  Steve and Diana.. thank you so very much. You saved our vacation.

Truly paradise

Our group throughly enjoyed our stay at Steven's place. The house was clean, well stocked with kitchen supplies, towels and the beds were comfortable. It is a short walk down the stairs to the private beach. We loved our stay. We rode the bus which stops right at the end of the driveway. We would recommend to anyone wanting a stay in a quiet not touristy part of the island. Steven he and his "team" were great and communicated before and during our stay was wonderful!

We had a great stay. The apartment is in a great location with the most amazing view. The beds were super comfy, and kitchen was well equipped. Beautiful Views

RELAXING! We had a fabulous vacation at the Sand Dollar and will definitely rent it again because the location and unit was just perfect for what we wanted … a relaxing beach vacation! The host Stephen and manager Gorden were very responsive whenever we reached out to them with any questions. It was suggested that we order food from the market ahead of time and Gorden was there to accept our food while we were in the air on our way down to Bermuda … it was perfect although we didn’t get everything we ordered (we weren’t charged for it either) and the market did substitute some items for a different brand but everything worked out fine. There are many stairs to go down to get to the wonderful private beach, which we mostly had to ourselves at the time we were there, which was September … the whole island was rather quiet as it’s probably slow season but we appreciated the peace. The stairs to the beach are uneven and steep and probably wouldn’t be easy to navigate for anyone with walking or climbing issues. The unit was spacious and comfortable for the four of us but was in need of a few updates like the vanities and mirrors in the bathroom. Also, it wasn’t as clean as I would have hoped (floors, silverware drawer and such) but it wasn’t terrible either and we brought Clorox wipes with us; it wouldn’t stop us from renting this little place in paradise again! Gorden also set up airport transportation at a very reasonable price which was great! We will definitely stay again!

Fantastic Location

We definitely didn’t understand this gem until the morning after we arrived and could see the view. Stephen and Gordon were proactive in communicating with us before our stay and always quick to respond. We look forward to our next stay here. The quiet private beach is definitely a perfect place to relax and recharge. The pictures are accurate. The views are incredible! Our visit was truly a pleasant experience!

Sand Dollar Beach Cottage really grows on you. You can wake up in the morning and walk down to the beach with a cup of coffee or an exercise mat. Centrally located to all points on the island. I think it is a marvelous place.
