This is a beautifully located bungalow situated on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. This spacious property consists of 3 double bedrooms, 2 large reception rooms, a kitchen, a modern fitted bathroom and an additional shower room. The master bedroom and front living room overlook the ocean and the rear of the property has open rural views stretching to the mountains and the nearby Rockfleet, or Carrickahowley, Castle. A few minutes’ walk along the sea front will take you to this 16th century castle, which was once the home of the Irish pirate queen, Grace O’Malley, or Granuaile. Also within easy walking distance along the sea front is Roigh Pier with a small harbour of local fishing boats. Fishing and sight-seeing trips can be arranged from here. The immediate area provides excellent walking opportunities, including the Furnace lakes, Shramore and Letterkeen forest and the Nephin mountain range. Both stylish and cosy, this bungalow is perfect for couples, families and groups.

As peaceful as you could wish

Wonderful location. Serene sea views at the front, a field of gambolling lambs at the back ( probably not available all year round ) What more could you want. A spacious and comfortable place to stay. A mentally renewing experience. Thank you.

Ivor’s place is great. Pictures don’t do it justice…

Just stayed at Ivor‘s house on the shores of Clew Bay and it was brilliant. The photos in the listing don’t really do it justice as the space available to you is huge. All the facilities are spot-on. There were a few goodies for us in the fridge when we arrived and they even put up a Xmas tree as we were there for Xmas. Communication was great. The surrounding area is beautiful. Lots of history and lots of places to go walking, lots of history. Highly recommended.Suits family’s, and those with kids too… Thanks Ivor.

Peace and tranquility

We stayed for 4 weeks this summer, though the Irish weather was against us! The house has everything you need, amazing views, comfort, space. An excellent place to explore Mayo. We have stayed before and couldn't wait to get back

Fabulous coastal stay

The property is large and was ideally arranged for us. Coming in from the beach or a walk into a utility area so the wet kayaking gear could be removed and hung up. We were able to put the dog crate in the next room, plenty of space so she went straight in from outside. We took a ramp for the one step at the back so my wheelchair got in. There are however 2 steps from the lounge up to the bedrooms, so not fully wheelchair accessible. I was able to cope with the 2 steps Both lounges have comfortable reclining sofas. Excellent having 2 lounges if you are a larger group. The kitchen was very well stocked, and brilliant supply of food, cooking bits and pieces. One of the best i have been to. The master bedroom has a superb view and for me to be able to rest or stay in bed and see the bay was fantastic. All the bedrooms looked good, though we only used one. Like any property this size it is possible to find an area that is ready for some tlc, but overall a well maintained property, large gardens right on the shoreline, superb views all ways round a fantastic place to stay. Highly recommend for everyone but especially if you want to use the bay for boating of any description. Lovely rock pools full of life and access to the sea all day. There is not a sandy beach but plenty of access points to the water. I loved kayaking round to the castle and around the bay. Not a huge amount of wildlife, but we did see herons and egrets one week was too short

Nice property but with shortcomings

Fitst impression when entering was a musty smell. We also had issues with the front door lock. We had no hot tap water. The "caretaker" whilst "resetting" the hot water appeared non plus, couldnt wait to leave and didn't explain the procedure when a couple of days later we had no hot water again. Glasses needed washing before use as one of the cupboards smelt of Deep Heat: for some reason glass was kept in the same cupboard as medicines

Peaceful Rockfleet Holiday Home

The bungalow was so spacious and comfortable with every amenity one could wish for - even Netflix for guests! We absolutely loved staying here - the view was incredible and it was so relaxing being there.

Delightful homely house by the coast

We loved our stay in Rockfleet - we felt at home from the first night. A thoughtful welcome pack was waiting for us and the heating was on. The cupboards were well stocked with essentials and kitchen utensils. There were jigsaws, books, dvds and outdoor equipment in the house. Bedrooms were comfortable. The views were spectacular- both on sunny days and stormy ones. If we need a home from home in Newport

Great communication made check in super easy. House was completely spotless and complied with all COVID cleaning regulations which was fabulous. Property had all appliances and comforts with AppleTV a nice extra. Stunning views an altogether restful trip thank you

Very enjoyable..great peaceful location

Overall we had a great stay and would come back. The communication was very good through the entire process. There's a bit of updating needed inside the house with peeling wallpaper and stuff and a bit of attention to the outside would go a long way and definitely a window cleaner but that wouldn't prevent us from coming back. Good value for money overall.

Quiet and peaceful

Lovely bungalow,very spacious, comfortable beds.Thanks to Mary for the supplies and homemade bread and jam.Would recommend Nevin’s pub, the Riverside cafe and An File bar Westport for places to eat.Not far to drive to Achill island and the museum of Ireland is worth a trip.

Prima Woche

Wir waren zu zweit für eine Woche in dem Cottage und haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Es mangelt an nichts. Bemerkenswert ist, dass wirklich an alles gedacht wurde. Es sind Informationen über die Gegend vorhanden und sämtliche Haushaltsgeräte, die man braucht. Einige Dinge sind nicht wirklich neu, sondern geradezu älter. Doch man merkt schnell, dass hier tatsächlich über die Bedürfnisse der Urlauber nachgedacht wurde. Sicherlich sollten die Rohre in der Einfahrt repariert werden und es wäre toll, wenn auch die Sicherung für den Strom nicht gerade im Dunkeln herausspringen würde. Besonders interessant ist sicherlich, dass man unglaublich gute Fotos vom Nachthimmel machen kann. Ich selbst habe einen solchen Himmel noch nie erlebt. Für uns wäre es sehr gut vorstellbar wieder zu kommen, da uns auch die Landschaft und die Gegend sehr gut gefallen haben.

Peaceful Location

A spacious, comfortable and well-equipped bungalow, in a peaceful, quiet lane off the main road. The waters of Clew Bay lapped the shoreline just across the lane. It was a pleasure watching the tide coming in and going out each day. The only noises were birdsong and the lapping of the water (- and no traffic noise!). Stunning views of the nearby hills and islands in the bay. Close enough to explore Newport, Westport, and Mallaranny, as well as the beautiful beaches of Achill Island. We enjoyed ourselves and were very well looked after.
