About this property

Pierre Part, Louisiana

This two story lake house is not just on the water. It is out over the water. The fishermen are going to love fishing from all four sides of this lake house. Locally known as a “CAMP”..... not sleek, not rustic. This camp is comfortable and perfect for family and group gathering as well as fishing and hunting excursions. The four-sided boardwalk surrounding the camp features easy access to the water for swimming and easy in and out boat access. There is a picnic table, boat slip, fish and game cleaning station, and a bathroom. The porch is screened and has a big swing for lazy mornings and quiet evenings. The first floor has a kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is completely furnished. The second floor includes a deck for viewing breath taking sunsets, a large TV game room with bunk beds, a master bedroom, and a full bath with washer and dryer.
Lake Verret lies inside the Atchafalaya Basin, the largest natural swamp in North America. Just 6 miles from Pierre Part, home of the legendary alligator hunter Troy Landry, made famous by the History Channel's “Swamp People”. Lake Verret is surrounded by 100 year old Bald Cypress trees, laden with flowing Spanish moss, conveniently located just off Highway 1 near Shell beach. The lake is home to alligators, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Blue Herons a wide variety of water fowl. This ancient lake is full of Large Mouth Bass, Blue Gill, Sunfish, Catfish and Crappie; known here as “SAC-A-LAIT. Freshwater Drum as large as a man has been caught from the dock of this camp!
Bring your boat and enjoy the adventure on your own or let Allen Marroy host your party or serious fishing expedition. Allen is a lifelong “CAJUN” and five time champion Basketball coach. Allen has fished and hunted the lakes and bayous of Cajun Country his entire life. He knows where to go, when to go and what to use for tackle and bait. He will put you “ON THE FISH.” Allen is also a great Cajun cook and is available for preparing your catch of the day for your plate or the freezer.
Be sure to bring your camera! You are going to see and experience a truly unbelievably, beautiful place!
Come watch eagles, red shoulder hawks, herons, egrets and others . They swarm around camp to eat left overs from cleaning fish.

Perfect for experiencing Louisiana Bayou Country!

Allen and Toni were such wonderful hosts! Allen's bayou water tour was amazing. Just what we were looking for. Toni and Allen were always available to help us with our every need. We enjoyed their true Cajun Country knowledge and hospitality. We highly recommend it for hunters, fishermen as well as families looking for an authentic bayou experience.

Fishing on the lake

It was everything I’d hoped it would be! Toni and Allen were great hosts, my husband went out fishing with Allen a couple of times, he also took us out for a swamp tour, he’s very knowledgeable about the area. He went crabbing one day and we bought some from him, I learned how to clean them. All around great visit! And the grocery store in Pierre Part has everything you need, no reason to go farther. Also the catfish is the best I’ve ever tasted. Hope to return next year 😊

Great stay!

What a wonderful Lake Verret visit to the Camp. Loved the charm and watching the sunrise without having to get out of bed! You must have Allen take you for a boat ride….his knowledge of the area, flora and fauna was excellent. Truly enjoyed his stories, great experience.

Great Place on the Lake Verret

This is a perfect little camp right on Lake Verret. We didn't have the chance to get the boat on the lake as it rained all week, but that didn't matter. That just gave us the opportunity to ride around, eat great food and meet lots of new people. The owners are super great people. Mr. Allen even let Johnny tag along on crabbing trip. We will definitely stay again!

Best vacation ever ❤️

A little piece of heaven tucked away in louisanna, We've stayed at alot of places and this was by far one of our favorite places.Allen and Toni are the most pleasant host we've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The camp was perfect, beautiful surroundings with beautiful wildlife. The camp has everything you need. And Toni's treats were a very nice plus. I cant say enough about Allen hes a real gentleman, he took us out for the best fishing trip we've ever been on and we caught loads of fish, and saw so many gators. Allen even caught a 35-40 catfish it was something to see, when we got back he cleaned them and bagged them for us, and he cooked some of what we caught for us for supper, not only can he fish he can really cook.It was delicious!!! We cant wait to go back.. If you have the honor of meeting Mr Allen and Ms Toni you in for a treat. I wish I could give more than 5 stars🌟 !!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay! Toni and Allen are wonderful hosts. Allen took us to check his jug lines and gave us a swamp tour. Very interesting and educational! We caught catfish right off the dock. Allen also cooked an entire meal for us including our fish for $10 a plate. Highly recommend staying here! Sunrises are beautiful!

Birds and Fish Galore! Working Fish Camp Cultural Immersion Experience

From coffee on the porch swing to catching an ice chest full of fish in Allan's boat, this quaint camp perched directly over the water provided us with fun and relaxation in a beautifully scenic area on Lake Verret. The friendly hosts live across the street and checked in on us daily to make sure we had everything we needed including Toni bringing a cart over to help us bring our things down the boardwalk to the camp. We marveled as Allan left each morning and came home with an ice chest of fish each afternoon so asked him to take us out and he put us right on them! Birds from hummingbirds to eagles appeared daily at the camp and we caught fish from the house deck as well as on the lake with Allan. The bed near the sliding door was so comfortable I wanted to take it home and the breeze blowing in from the lake through the open screendoor made sleeping a dream. A pleasant surprise was that despite its rural lake location, both good cell service and a strong Wi-Fi signal were available as well as good water pressure (things you don't always find at a camp). An easy drive from Baton Rouge. An easy drive to Morgan City and surrounding area. Watch the birds. Catch the fish. Enjoy the view. Soak up the culture.

Cottage among the cypress

We have targeted 'Interesting' places to stay since retiring our travel trailer, and 'Marroy's Camp' met that requirement. The 'Camp' is a former, rustic family cottage, supported upon pilings, OVER the water. Hosts Allen & Toni made certain that our 5-day stay was enjoyable. Fried catfish dinner with sides + an entertaining swamp tour completed our adventure. This was an authentic, regional 'fish camp experience. Thanks go out to Allen & Toni.

First time staying in Louisana

The Marroy Camp was exactly as depicted and it was perfect for our first time vacationing in Louisana. We wanted to experience swamps, bayous, and history and this was a beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming place to stay as we did all of that. From Toni’s kind and informative greeting and her going for a walk with me to show me where the eagles nest is, to the swamp and bayou knowledge that Allen shared, we felt like we have a little more of a grasp on the rich Cajun life. We enjoyed fishing from the dock, watching glorious sunrises before we got out of bed, listening to waves and watching wildlife while sitting on the Adirondack chairs overlooking Lake Verret, and falling asleep to the gentle sway of the camp as it sits in the water. I was able to capture amazing photos of the eagles, egrets, and pelicans that also camp there! We visited many historical sites in Baton Rouge, toured the Oak Alley Plantation, The Rig museum in Morgan City, the beautiful area around Houma, and the Garden and French districts, along with City Park, and Lake Ponchatrain in New Orleans. I also kayaked into the Bayou Corne and saw gorgeous birds and had an alligator surface right next to my kayakI it was an incredible experience unlike any other of our 2 years of full time RV life and traveling all over the country. The Marroy Camp was place for a perfect balance between relaxing at the camp and doing so many of the things that Lousiana has to offer. I highly recommend a visit!

Five Days at Fish camp

We arrived a little late, but Toni and Allen greeted us with smiles. Toni gave us an excellent tour of the camp and all its amenities. Allen was a delight; he gave us many stories and taught us a few Cajun words. We really enjoyed the swamp tour and the catfish supper. We would recommend this camp to anyone with an adventurous spirit.
