About this property

Spectacular views across Newlyn’s fishing harbour

Trawler Cottage is traditional granite cottage, nestled in a quiet raised position, commanding stunning uninterrupted sea views. An ideal position to watch the activities of the ancient fishing port of Newlyn, the historic St Michaels Mount & take in surrounding coast line.
The property has been tastefully renovated to offer a comfortable standard of accommodation; 2 double bedrooms, upstairs bathroom and downstairs shower room, large open planned living room with open fire place, dinning area & fully equipped oak kitchen. Picture windows make the most of the stunning views & natural light, a sunny breakfast terrace embraces the morning sea air or ends the day with an evening barbecue. An ideal holiday home for a young family, couple who want extra space or writers & artists who want a quiet retreat. A stroll into the village through the maze of cobbled court yards, leads you to local shops, restaurants & friendly pubs. The cottage is family owned and set up to offer a comfortable stay.
The cottage is accessed by a private path, via a short flight of steps and then a gentle set of steps leading up to the front door. We do not recommend our property for anyone with mobility issues.

-Wonderful visit to Newlyn

The accommodations and location of this property is wonderful. We are foodies, and enjoyed the fresh seafood and specialty shops in Newlyn. So much is within walking distance, even a walk to Mousehole along the coast was great for us. Wonderful way to experience a part of the UK without feeling the "tourist crowds" Loved the view of the harbor.

Cute cottage with lovely views of the Newlyn Harbour

We were booked in for a three-night stay, unfortunately we had a family crisis which meant we had to leave part way through our mini break. However, we would highly recommend the cottage, which was in a good location for exploring and had super views of the harbour in several rooms. It was well-equipped and comfortable. Our bed was exceptionally comfy, with lovely fresh bedding and comfortable pillows and duvet, which ensured two lovely nights' sleep. We were only sorry we had to leave early but would love to go back again. Not really negatives but just a couple of points to be aware of. 1) The access to the cottage is quite steep, with very deep steps and also the path before the entrance, if wet, would be a little hazardous. Due to lack of parking immediately to the property, anyone with mobility issues, or fairly elderly, and having to carry bags/suitcases etc to and from the cottage, would find it quite a task. 2) There is no microwave, not major though, as the kitchen is well-equipped apart from this.

We have had a lovely time and highly recommend the house

The house is very comfortable and had everything we needed. The views are fantastic overlooking the harbour and it's very relaxing just sitting and watching the daily activity in the harbour. On a sunny day it's even better with breakfast on the terrace.

Excellent

A beautiful cottage, everything you could ever need is provided. Very clean, lovely furnishings in keeping with cottage. Parking in local car park very reasonable £21 for 4 days . Would 100% recommend, sad to leave, very peaceful and as others have said, the view is incredible.

So very hilly!

There was no warning of how inaccessible the property was. We came home early beacause my. Wife couldn’t manage the steps that surround the property.

Lovely property in great location

We enjoyed staying at the property but found parking in the evenings difficult as all the spaces in the nearby pay and display car park were taken each evening. Fantastic views and plenty to explore in the local area.

cute cottage

Great stay, lovely cottage with great views. Some very small feedback: we found the pillows in the smaller room not very comfortable, and the door in that room doesn't latch. We also couldn't get the upstairs bathroom light to turn off.

Bath-Room with a View

We mostly enjoyed this sunny, airy house with its lovely views across the bay to St Michael's Mount. An unexpected plumbing issue (a sudden leak) was a bit of a "dampener" but was dealt with quickly and efficiently, and a plumber was fairly quickly able to fix it and replace a faulty part, given that it was a bank holiday weekend. Newlyn itself is a very interesting town, and I would thoroughly recommend visitors read Gavin Knight's book "The Swordfish and th Star," an excellent account of the fishing industry and history and the local characters.

Fantastic sea views

Beautiful well equipped property in an elevated position that is worth the hill & steps for the fantastic view of the harbour and St Michaels mount (not really suitable for less able bodied and elderly) Even the bath has a fab view! Nearby Red Lion serves great food . Short stroll into village centre with nice shops ,& pubs inc the Tolcarne Inn serving food cooked by Michelin star chef at reasonable prices Great week here at Trawler Cottage for myself , husband & dog : )) would recommend

Quaint and comfortable, very well equipped. Great location and view. Would definitely stay here again. Newlyn is a pretty village close to the Mount and St Ives but without the crazy crowds.

Beautiful location with thoughtful attention to detail

Generally a clean and well appointed property. The shower fitting itself is a little tired and in need of a good clean (recently been retiled though so not a problem!) but the bedrooms are bright and comfortable. Downstairs, the sitting area and kitchen have everything you could need, there’s even a sun hat hanging up in case you’re in need. We had a really enjoyable stay and would recommend this property. Fantastic views and location. There is plenty to explore around and about.

Misrepresented cottage

We stayed at this property for 16 hours having booked it for 1 week in summer. There were issues with damp, cleanliness and safety which I won't go into detail as people don't read reviews that are too lengthy but we did take photos. The owner has apparently addressed these problems but has not shown any compromise in giving any financial recompense other that a few days at the cottage out of season for a weekend that is a 850 mile round trip for us. Unreasonable in anyone's terms. We withheld the review pending an agreement but she has now seen fit to give us a bad guest review which is totally unsubstantiated . At least we can feel confident that any further action we take is honest, truthful and transparent.

Englisches Cottage

Trawler cottage

We have stayed at Trawler cottage twice (2010/11) and also recommended it to family who went in 2010. The Cottage has a nice open plan downstairs with two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs (also has a shower in the additional downstairs bathroom). From the lounge/kitchen area downstairs, upstairs double bedroom and whilst lying in the bath there are absolutely stunning views over Newlyn Harbour and Mounts Bay. The cottage has been modernised very nicely with two clean modern bathrooms and a modern kitchen. It's a great place to use as a base to explore the local area, drive a short distance to some fantastic beaches and dramatic coastal walks or stay in and enjoy the view. We have loved staying at Trawler Cottage and would totally recommend it.
