About this property

Old Stone House in olive grove with amazing views and infinity pool sleeps 10

In a stunning olive grove location with fantastic sea views, 45 minutes from Kalamata International Airport , a beautifully designed house, with a gorgeous infinity pool.

Completely secluded for getting away from it all and experiencing the real Greece, this old stone house has been renovated from top to bottom to create a designer house whilst keeping traditional touches.

The main house sleeps 6, in 3 large bedrooms each with private terrace. The master bedroom has a free-standing bath, ensuite shower room, and a 4 poster bed.

A small guest annex just below the pool sleeps a further 4 people in two large bedrooms with shower room.

Charles and Ellie our wonderful house managers live 10 minutes away and can give great tips on what to do and see to make your holiday truly memorable.

The unspoiled sandy beaches of this coast are 5 min down the hill in both directions. (There are 60k m of undeveloped beaches in 1 stretch alone here). A different beach for every day of the holiday!

The local market town 5 minutes away has lovely fresh fish, fruit, vegetables and the best bread in Greece. Try the olive oil pressed from the grove the house sits in - free for guests to enjoy. Great local tavernas at amazingly reasonable local prices are nearby - eat like a true Greek - not a tourist! Try the local wine at long established vineyards nearby.

Ancient Olympia, Ancient Messene, the Temple of Apollo, Methoni Castle and the historic Bay of Navarino are all within a short drive, the Ancient Greek capital of Naphlion and Epidavros make a great day trip.

Wonderful walks can be had in the Neda Waterfall Gorge and Arini Gorge - all a short drive away.

If you want to really get away from it all - with lovely beaches, historical sights and amazing nature - in a beautiful house - Old Olive House is for you.

Great house with stunning views

We had a very enjoyable holiday. It is very peaceful and there was little building work taking place when we stayed. We would have liked more hot water for showers morning and evening for 6 adults. Zacharo beach is very beautiful but with rough sea, it was not safe to swim in. Ellie is very responsive to requests for help and the wine/milk/bread in the fridge for us on arrival was very welcoming. Thank you.

Early summer break

Overall we had a great holiday our hosts ellie and Charlie were really helpful And welcoming. however we were there for a week and the first three days a builder directly below our property working on new holiday houses started breaking up large rocks with a jcb and hammer drill so what we had hoped would be a peaceful week certainly didn’t turn out that way. The noise was horrendous and constant from 8am-5pm - Ellie and Charlie had not been aware of this work and did speak to the builder who ceased using the heavy machinery from mid week which was a welcome relief but so upsetting given we were only there for a week and picked the property for its total tranquility . The area is very rural and unspoilt and the property is lovely and had everything we had hoped for and was well equipped. You have far distant sea views and overlook olive groves but you certainly cannot walk to the beach a car is therefore absolutely essential. We had two earthquake tremors during our stay .. very minor and we were told common in this area but a little alarming when we had never experienced anything like it before. The local town a short drive away has supermarkets and a selection of shops so you can get everything you need for a self catering holiday. The property is in a stunning location but certainly wouldn’t be a place to take young children as there are steep steps down to the pool area and once down by the pool it isn’t fenced.

Beautiful house in a secluded spot

Beautiful house, well equipped and with an exceptional view. The house managers, Charles & Ellie we’re on hand to sort out the various issues we had with electrics and plumbing. The pool was perfect and nearby there are some great beaches and of course ancient sites. A wonderful place for a Grecian getaway.

Lovely, comfortable house, no expense spared on the furnishings.

The house is in a lovely peaceful position and very well equipped with good quality pots, pans and linen. The terrace having the bug net all around is absolutely inspired, it means you can be outside anytime of the day or night without being bothered. The pool was lovely if a little chilly (we were there in May) but we used it everyday. Overall we had a comfortable, relaxing stay which is exactly what we were looking for.

A lovely villa with incredible views

This was our second visit to The Old Olive House and we plan to come back again. The setting is so beautiful that we relaxed instantly. The house has everything a family could need. A well stocked kitchen, games for the kids, comfy beds, indoor and outdoor eating areas and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the view. On the few days we managed to drag ourselves away from the villa we visited Olympia, mountain villages, stunning beaches and bustling street markets. A perfect holiday.

Stunning location and a lovely house with extremely helpful hosts

We loved our stay. We were particularly pleased that Zacharo and the area round about is not overrun with tourists, especially at this time of year. We all agreed that the location is brilliant with amazing views, and The Old Olive House is a wonderful place for a holiday. The property managers, Charles and Ellie, could not have been more helpful and we were very happy with their recommendations for things to see (Messene particularly), and where to go for eating and shopping - and of course we were very lucky with the weather. Thank you.

Arcadia

This is an extremely well kept property in a lovely part of the southwestern peloponessos You can see it is more than an investment for the owners as there is really a properly equippped kitchen where you can cook and even bake should you fancy it Nice rustic crockery, fluffy towels and additional pool beach towels are plentiful There are even herbs growing outside the kitchen and Charles and Ellie who look after the place give you a welcome stock ( eggs, milk, butter water - even a complimentary bottle of very good (ktyma mercoury) wine ). They are English which might give reassurance to people who do not speak Greek or are familiar with Greek customs. Most importantly they are a lovely couple and very helpful who have lived in the area for long enough to know it inside out What s not to like? Nothing really it might be too remote for some being 3 Km s up a mountain ( we felt perfectly safe and enjoyed the view), the drive is steep and may scare some and the master bedroom door needs a bit of joinery as it does close not fully Ow it s perfectly maintained in a virtually untouched part of one of the most striking provinces of Greece( olyimpia 15 min, bassae 30 min, pylosnetc also close even my stars doable as a day trip) close enough to Patras should people decide to drive

A really amazing place to stay with spectacular views- very high quality

Everything was lovely - the furnishings and rooms, the pool and bathing area, all the terraces. The position of the house is really amazing and everything felt luxurious and quality but still authentic and Greek. The house is looked after very well by Charles and Ellie who also gave us some great ideas for places to go. Really recommend it - had a lovely stay here.

Elegant, comfortable and well-equipped house in an absolutely beautiful setting

My family and I had an extremely happy week here. The house itself had all the mod cons, spacious rooms and was beautifully decorated. The pool was heaven - kids spend the whole time splashing about, and it was lovely to bob about with views of the blue foothills and olive groves all around. Ten minute drive to long, surprisingly under-populated beaches - golden sand and silky blue sea. Charles and Ellie, who look after the property, couldn't have been more charming and helpful. Happy times!

Get away from it all!

We stayed from September 19th for 2 weeks and had an amazing time. The house was wonderfuly equiped with everything you could need, very homely, and had the most amazing view. Charles and Eleanor and their daughter gave us a lovely warm welcome and were on hand whenever we had any questions. The house is a definate if you want a tranquil break away from it all, sat by the pool relaxing! We saw lots of wildlife including the resident tortoise and beautiful gheko's. Thank you for a wonderful stay we would love to come back again soon :-) p.s would recommend having a reasonable size car for the mountain roads!

A perfect holiday setting

This house is beautifully situated, clean and comfortable, everything in good order. The managers, Charles and Ellie, were extremely welcoming, friendly and efficient, and gave us plenty of helpful local recommendations. We spent much of our time outside on the shaded ground floor terrace, which has a BBQ, dining table and comfortable seating. We enjoyed the pool. Olympia and the Temple of Bassae were well worth a visit, as were the gorges. Wild flowers everywhere. We can whole-heartedly recommend staying at this house.

Amazing Views

The house was beautiful and well equipped. Charles and Ellie were great and gave us good information regarding things to so and see in the area. We had a minor issue with the house and they responded quickly and fixed the issue. The area is not a major tourist area which is what we wanted after several days in Athens. We enjoyed exploring the villages in the area and found several excellent restaurants in town and by the sea. The farmers market on Tuesday morning is a must. We enjoyed all the fresh fruits and vegetables and the house was equipped with a grill so we visited the local butcher and had a feast. It was too cool for us to swim but the pool was beautiful and we enjoyed sitting on the porch enjoying the views. The house is clean with plenty of fresh linens and everything we needed. I would highly recommend this property.

Great house, beautiful setting!

This home is just perfect for a relaxing get away. The living/dining space is huge, which you can't really see in the photos, we spent many lovely evenings enjoying dinner and games in that space. Close proximity to Olympia, and some beaches too. Pool was too cold for us to use in March but the wildflowers were fantastic.

This property is very special!

We really enjoyed our 10 days at The Old Olive House. The house is spacious, clean, well laid out and nicely situated. Even though it was February, we had great sun and comfortable temperatures. This is a real chance to experience life in Greece and get away from Athens. Charles and Ellie provided great support both before our arrival and afterwards. There is lots to do in the area especially if you enjoy the outdoors. We highly recommend this property.

Stunning View, Lovely House

Spacious, cool, clean and well laid out villa with views to die for across the Med and rolling Olive covered hills. Charles and family extremely helpful from booking to the stay itself. If you did require anything nothing would have been too much trouble. Quiet area of Greece, but with easy access to places such as Ancient Olympia and Ancient Messini, plus lots of local beaches. Swimming pool enjoyed the great views and despite it being October was still warm enough to swim in every day. Perfect for a family to enjoy!

Originally brought up in Australia and now living in London, we love to escape to this amazing corner of Greece - very undiscovered yet so close to such famous sights.

Why they chose this property

First the beaches!! Long sandy and unspoilt - like Australia but without the 24 hour flight! Swimming with turtles. Unspoilt local tavernas with amazing food and amazing prices.

What makes this property unique

We try to make the house not like a rental but with all the things we love - Le Creuset pans, lovely crockery and linen, antiques. But overall it’s the incredible view from every room that makes this house unique .
