About this property

I have 3x delightfully restored beach cottages in South Redondo a block from the beach, located on the same grounds as both the other beach cottages (BBC1 & BBC2).
The Burnham Beach Cottage(s) were built at the turn of the century originally as B&B's. We are a unique property so please feel free to email us with any questions or requests.

Simply put……a B&B experience with the privacy & independence of a vacation rental…...
*Nightly rate is based on 3 person accupancy.
This 2 bedroom cottage comprises of a queen-size bed, 1 twin bed , living room with comfy queen-size sofa/futon bed, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, bathroom with clawfoot tub with shower~ take in the evening sunsets on your front porch. You will be provided with ironed bed linens, bath & beach towels, bath salts, cable TV, WiFi, iron & ironing-board.
Enjoy the ocean & views within minutes from the cottage. Walk, stroll, jog or ride the coastline path that starts here in Redondo and goes all the way to Malibu; ...easily engage in surfing, swimming, volleyball, walking, running, skating, biking, hiking....there's heaps to do in these beach cities & the list continues....art/food/music festivals, outdoor movies in the parks/on the beach, international volleyball tournaments to watch, or if you would rather just relax in our gardens or on the beach and do nothing... you can do that too...
A varied selection of restaurants/cafes are on hand.
We are a quintessential SoCal beach town,close to LA without being in the hectic rush of LA. All is easily accessible by freeways, public transportation, sightseeing tours pick-up at local hotel.
Enjoy LA in a beach oasis- it makes coming to LA quite a different experience...

Nice stay in a cute little Cottage

The cottage was small, nice an well equipted.Beautifull backyard to relax.Only a short way (10min.) to the beach, restaurants and other poi's.

Mid March stay in redondo

Perfect Beach Cottage

This house is a perfect place to stay in Redondo. It's located near so many things to do and places to eat that you can't go wrong. The cottage was cute, clean and the host makes check in and check out very easy. Definitely recommend for anyone coming to the area.

Memorial/Solace

The relaxing atmosphere in this beach cottage was perfect! I had an interment memorial service at Green Hills followed by a memorial lunch at El Torito restaurant on the Redondo Beach pier - a very close convenient walk from the cottage. We enjoyed our short walks to the pier. The overall stay turned out amazing and memorable.

Awesome Stay

This is an awesome cottage in a prime location walking distance to the beach and Redondo Pier. It’s well- equipped and comfortable. It makes a great base for exploring the area with a small family. Communication is great.

Older cozy cottage, great location

Pros: great location, parking was easy, manager was communicative, had plenty of sheets, towels and we enjoyed our stay.Cons: older house so everything creaked. Bed, floor, heater, doors, so if you have light sleepers beware. Small place, barely fit our family of 5. Shower was tiny. Doorknobs were older and kids almost got stuck in bathroom. Still worked for us and we appreciated our stay!

Quintessential Beach Cottage experience

Our stay exceeded our expectations! Prime location, Quintessential beach cottage

Cottage is in excellent location, cute as a button, everything you need, beds comfy, kitchen stocked, spotlessly clean, property well maintained, parking is FREE and easy to find a spot, quiet neighborhood. Host was exceptional from when we booked to ck-out~ went out of their way to accommodate us. We had a blast~ We'll be back.

Cutest place!

This was our last stop off a two week road trip and it was the perfect last place! One of the absolute cutest places I’ve ever been and Sandy is a great host! Beds were beyond comfy, a super close walk to the pier, a wonderful claw foot tub. My boys and I loved it!

GREAT LOCATION AND COMFORTABLE ACCOMMODATIONS

Everything about this rental met or exceeded expectations. Good for a couple and single (one queen and one twin bed). Host met us and took his time to show us what we needed to know. Easy walking distance to Redondo Pier, boardwalk and beach. Free street parking.

Wedding Party

Eight longtime friends had a five day LA experience for the occasion of my granddaughter’s wedding. Landing at Burnham Cottages was a stroke of magic. We swam, visited the farmers market and fish market prepared a feast in the fully equipped kitchen, gathered in the communal garden patio and frequented the many restaurants a block from our oasis of perfect seclusion. Family vacation

We stayed at Wendy’s cottage as our last stop on a west coast road trip. The cottage is small but perfect. Just enough room for my wife and 3 kids. Easy walk to the pier. Street parking at the cottage was never a problem. Wendy is a fantastic host. Thanks!

Cute, quite, cozy and great location!

We stayed with our college age sons (2) over Xmas week, the cottage is really close to my family who lives locally. Wendy was very attentive during check-in and the whole stay. We used the kitchen, washer/dryer, bikes and grill. We walked to the farmer's market, walked to the Pier for happy hour drinks, and cruised the Strand on the bikes to LAX & PV. Owner lives next door so no loud parties or drama - just our style! Great location for the whole family!

What can we possibly say about Wendy? Do you want to rent a place from someone who is PASSIONATE about her home and Redondo Beach? There is nobody better. BEST rental on any platform by far and it’s not even close.

Great cottage, great stay!

We had a wonderful time in Redondo Beach and The cottage felt like home! Perfectly suited for my husband and I and our teenage daughter. Cottage was very clean and well equipped, comfortable beds and nice touches throughout. Great location, walk to the beach and pier and easy street parking. We enjoyed the seating on the front porch as well as the back yard, perfect spots for morning coffee! The owner Wendy and her friend Lynn were super hostesses and made us feel very relaxed and right at home. The cottage has it's own washer and dryer just outside the back door and we also were able to use the beach cruiser bikes, beach chairs and towels with ease. Thank you for a wonderful stay, it was everything we had hoped! Best, The Mitzelfelts

Cute cottage

The cottage and the property are charming, and we were satisfied with the accommodations. Our only complaint is the location. The road is very busy, and there were frequently some sketchy people hanging around out front. One guy on consecutive days sat out front for a long time with his loud pick up truck idling while his music blasted. One of the days he dropped a large glass bottle and left very large pieces next to my car. I put them in the back of his truck after they walked away. We returned to the cottage a few times to find the gate had been opened. Otherwise, we enjoyed our time in Redondo and Hermosa.

Bugs, bugs, bugs!

If you love bugs this is the place for you. The unit was dirty. The bathtub stunk. Shower curtain was old and just gross. Owner still owes me $600, won’t answer calls or return texts. We’ve knocked on her door multiple times but she won’t come to the door. Ended up moving to a different property after 3 days when we were supposed to be there a week. Couldn’t take the spiders in the bed or the ants crawling all over the bathroom sink and kitchen counters. The minute you set a plate of food on the counter ants immediately find it. We have booked with VRBO many, many times and always had great success but not this time. Overall a very unpleasant experience.

Did not meet our expectations

I use VRBO frequently and have been lucky to always stay at nice places. This was our last stop on a 3 month retirement trip, so we are experienced travelers. We booked this cottage for 6 nights and left after the first night to stay somewhere else in the area. The cottage is very small and more suited for only 2 people. The second ‘bedroom’ only fits a twin bed against a drafty door and window, with no dresser or closet or room to keep a suitcase. Some windows don’t lock. The sheets were worn out with some stains. This may he a ‘historic’ cottage but that translates to old and tired in my opinion, maybe dinghy ad well. The LV is tiny and futon cover old and worn. Kitchen is tiny with old appliances. We like rustic beach cottages but this was not a well kept place. Owner was not willing to work with us on a partial refund, just kept saying the listing and pictures are accurate. Unfortunately, pictures can look much better than the actual place.

I am a fun easy going person. I have traveled & lived in other countries fairly extensively. Love People and enjoy all that life has to offer! I have had 30+ years in the the hospitality business, many of those years specializing in the B&B field-so I know how to make your stay special.

Why they chose this property

I particularly love restoring older properties so when I came across the Burnham House & Cottages with all it's historic history it was impelling to want to restore and bring back to life all the workmanship so often found in these older homes....It was hard work but certainly most rewarding now to sit back and have others enjoy what I have re-created. Being so close to the beach is also most delightful and certainly well enjoyed. With my years of running Bed & Breakfast Inns & my enjoyment to meet people from all walks of life, it has proven to be a perfect marriage. I love that I own a historic landmark that is only 2 blocks to the beach and that I have provided such an enjoyable & peaceful environment for anyone that wants to indulge. I love going for a long walks in the morning along the beach and watching the surfers & dolphins mingle & the whales migrating in March/April. ***The sunsets are amazing and truly lovely to enjoy...very relaxing***.

I love that I own a historic landmark that is only 2 blocks to the beach and that I have provided such an enjoyable & peaceful environment for anyone that wants to indulge. Enjoy the coastline within a short walk to pier & beach path that sprawls from Palos Verdes to Santa Monica...easily engage in surfing, swimming, volleyball, walking, running, skating, biking, hiking....there's heaps to do in these beach cities & the list continues....art/food/music festivals, outdoor movies in the parks/on the beach, international volleyball tournaments to watch, or if you would rather just relax in our gardens or on the beach and do nothing... you can do that too... Varied selection of restaurants, eateries, cafes etc surround. Oh and not to forget, all the sites LA has to offer is easily accessible by car/public transportation private tours from local snazzy Hotels. Enjoy LA in a beach town oasis- it makes coming to LA quite a different experience...
