The Bird House - a family-friendly cottage in Katoomba

Country style cottage situated in a tranquil part of South Katoomba. Be at home in the rustic western red cedar interiors and exposed beams for that romantic mountain lodge feeling.
This three bedroom cottage is split over two levels and is equally suited to families, couples and small groups. The main level has two bedrooms, open plan living, dining and kitchen, bathroom and laundry. Ducted gas heating throughout. Upstairs you will find a spacious third bedroom/playroom with toys and a second television to keep the kids busy.

Celebrate the great outdoors and explore the English-style cottage garden, beautiful in every season. Birdwatchers can delight in the abundance of King Parrots, Crimson Rosellas, Cockatoos and other bird life in the area - attract them to the backyard with the native bird feeders and watch them up close! Relax in the backyard in the warmer months and cook up an Aussie storm on the BBQ.
Take a stroll through the bush behind the property, down to pond to feed the ducks or take bikes down the old Catalina Raceway for the kids to race around the track.

Just a short walk down the hill, the Katoomba Aquatic Centre has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a gym and a large children's play centre.

The cottage is a short drive to iconic destinations; the Three Sisters at Echo Point, Katoomba Falls and Scenic World; and a few minutes drive to Katoomba supermarkets, shops, cafes and restaurants.

Great stay 😊

We had a great stay at The Bird House whilst visiting the Blue Mountains for two nights. The house is clean, spacious and homely and the garden very pretty. Loved feeding the birds in the garden - the sulphur crested cockatoos and crimson rosellas were very friendly and a red wattlebird visited the camellia flowers both mornings. The kitchen was well equipped if you wanted to cook and well stocked with everyday household essentials (cling film, tin foil, dishwasher tablets etc) which made life so much easier as we were travelling light and was really appreciated. Claire was really easy to communicate with and able to help with advice re taxis. We ate at The Bowery one night - newly decorated and lovely atmosphere. We ended up walking there and back and each walk only took about 15 minutes. It was the perfect base for our visit to the Blue Mountains. Thank you Claire for a great stay.

Beautiful cottage

We loved the cottage, it was so cosy and comfy, it felt like home and we wished we were staying longer. It was so quiet as well and the garden was lovely though unfortunately we had rain on our visit. Would love to come back for a longer stay.

Beautiful home

We had a fantastic stay at The Bird House - In fact we loved it. The house is beautiful, clean,welcoming, with lovely modern/ antique finishes. You can tell that Claire and her family love their weekend home and have furnished it in a way that makes you feel relaxed. Blue Mountains weekend

The Bird House was a lovely find in Katoomba. Close to town and the location near the aquatic centre was a bonus. The house itself was perfect for our group, comfy beds and a cosy living area made for an enjoyable couple of nights. Communication with the host was excellent. We are very regular visitors to the Blue Mountains and would happily stay in this lovely cottage again.

Loved the bird visits!

The Birdhouse in Katoomba is a charming getaway! We absolutely loved the frequent visits from the local birds it added such a magical touch to the experience. The accommodation had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, but it could definitely use better insulation. Noise traveled quite a bit, even up to the second floor. Despite that, it was a delightful place to connect with nature and unwind.

Hidden Gem in Katoomba

Perfect for Families. The kids felt so relaxed and kept asking to go back "home." After the Hussle of the city we could sit and relax. The cockatoos and other beautiful birds were a spoil to have in such an abundance. The house was also perfectly clean ! Couldnt fault a thing. . The beds were comfinamd warm . Loved saying here and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Superb peaceful stay

Our 3-day stay in the Bird House was magical - from the welcoming king parrots and cockatoos in the stunning gardens, to the comfy beds and spacious house, the excellent kitchen, and the friendly and accommodating hosting from Claire. The location is brilliant, beautiful and peaceful, and just a few minutes' drive to Katoomba's sites, shops and cafes. So much to see around, but also just as nice to relax at the house and watch the birds and butterflies at play. Thank you Claire!

Well appointed and super cute

We spent a week at the Bird House and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was close to Katoomba shops and to bush walks; there is a public pool 5 mins walk down the hill; Cahill Lookout is a short drive away and a superb spot to watch the sun set. And there are some gorgeous birds that visit twice a day - cockatoos, king parrots and rosellas. The kitchen and pantry are well stocked with everything you need. And the pillows are the most comfortable we have ever experienced in a holiday home! There are heaps of DVDs and games. 10/10

Great home base for mountain walks

Property was as advertised. Very clean and well supplied linen and food prep essentials. The house is very well situated for local iconic walks and only a very short drive to shops. The little BBQ worked well but I could not stop the flow of gas without shutting off the gas bottle. Might be an issue if someone is slow to light it after having the lid down. The driveway is a bit of a challenge with a larger car but there was ample paring on the street. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Absolute Gem!

It's a fantastic cottage to stay in whilst exploring in the Blue Mountains. Super clean presentation, very comfortable beds, and everything that we needed was here. Street is quiet and a close drive to local Aldi and Woolworths. Bird seed provided for local birds that come and visit in the afternoons. Just the most perfect little cottage for a family of 6!
