Beautiful Villa and grounds

We had an excellent stay in Capellania. The villa is full of character with interesting art work. It’s spacious and well appointed, set in a peaceful area yet just a short walk into town. We really enjoyed the grounds with many places to sit depending on whether you want sun or shade, the poolside was a nice sun trap and the upstairs terrace was a great place to enjoy a morning coffee or evening drink looking over Órgiva and the surrounding countryside. When we were there in late October there were ripe oranges and avocados in the trees which was a lovely treat.

Enjoyed a fantastic holiday in this beautiful villa. Plenty of space and very well equipped. Although pleasantly secluded it is just a short walk to the town where there are good supermarkets and some excellent restaurants. Recommend a trip to Granada and the ‘white villages’. Easy drive from Malaga airport. We’ll be back!

Wonderful Villa in a Stunning Location

We had a relaxing holiday in this well maintained, superbly kept property. The fruit trees surrounding the house were a delightful sight each day (the freshly picked apricots for breakfast unforgettable), as was the view towards town and the Sierra Nevada mountains. A short 10 minute walk to the lovely town of Orgiva was handy, and the villa location was excellent for visiting the mountain villages and other towns. The weather was fantastic every day to swim in the lovely pool. We adored the holiday/location/villa so much, we are already planning to return. Anda and her team were great hosts, regulary on site and easily contactable when needed.

Relaxation with superb views

Capellaria is a very big villa in a quiet area but only 5 mins easy walk to town. We went each day for fresh bread and provisions and of course a coffee whilst watching the world pass us by. We ate out lunchtime most days and particularly liked Baraka, El Limonero and Meson El Viejo Molino(our fav). Free tapas with each round of drinks with such variety. The meal of the day was always well cooked and presented, excellent value for 3 courses. Plenty of choice for provisions in supermarkets and local shops for fresh fruit and meat. We drove around to some of the local villages, Lanjaron, Pampaneira and Salobrena down on the coast. Plenty of chiringuitos to choose from cooking fresh fish, the sardines were fab at Casa Emilo, lunch with a sea view, bliss. The Alhambra palaces were well worth seeing, pleased we booked early tickets as it was cooler and less busy. The facilities at the villa are great, plenty of areas to sit out depending on the heat of the day, but always somewhere in the shade. We loved sitting on the large upstairs balcony for breakfast and again eating tea admiring the wonderful views and watching the sunsets, birds and bats. The pool was great and a big bonus to cool down in, even much later when lit up too. Great not having to pack pool towels as they are provided. We had a really relaxing stay and loved this quieter area of Andalucia. Thanks to Anda and Carmen

Orgiva villa

Communications were good. Journey to villa is straightforward. Was met promptly in town and then escorted to villa. Villa was a very good size. Lots of different outside areas with lots of room. No where is over looked and is very private. Short walk into town, everything thing you need is there. Some nice restaurants and bars. Cheap fruit and veg from the market. Really nice views made it feel more rural than it was. Would recommend to any one and go back.

Fabulous!

We had two fantastic weeks staying here! The house is large as are the gardens, with plenty of different areas to sit and eat outside in the evening. The pool is a good size and the views from the pool and roof terrace are stunning. It is just a 5 to 10 min stroll into Orgiva with a good selection of bars and restaurants and only 20 drive mins to some lovely mountain villages for a nice lunch with a view. Unfortunately I needed to work a little, so pleased to find good wifi coverage and speed around the house and garden.

Beautiful villa in a great location

This is a beautiful villa in a great location. We really enjoyed everything about our stay. The villa is laid out perfectly with plenty of space and has everything you could need. We enjoyed sitting on the roof terrace and watching the bats in the evening. We also loved having fruit trees in the garden with oranges, lemons and avocados to pick. It is only a 5 minute walk down into Orgiva where there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. We went out to the bakery everyday for fresh bread. This is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday, we would recommend this to everyone.

Wow, wow and wow!

We have just returned from a glorious 2 week break at this wonderful villa. The photos do not do this place justice.......it is wonderful. There is everything you need in this very comfortable villa and only a short stroll from the lovely village of Orgiva where there are some fantastic tapas bars to try. The Thursday market is worth a look, excellent value shoes and fresh fruit and veg. We were staying during the recent heatwave and the pool was a god send. An absolute gem!

Amazing family holiday

We had the most wonderful two week holiday at Capellania. The house is beautiful with a gorgeous pool, incredible gardens and was equipped with everything we needed. It was spotlessly clean, and the owner and housekeeper ensured the place was completely COVID safe. We loved picking lemons and limes from the trees, and colourful flowers make the outside areas really special! The location is the best we’ve stayed in this area - a very short walk into town for dinners and lunches al fresco. So many good options that are all family friendly (we were with our 9 and 7 year old!). Many lovely bars and cafes for a coffee or glass of wine. Galindos bakery earns a special mention for being spectacular! We really didn’t want to leave and would go back in a heartbeat.

Our week in Orgiva - July 2019

We arrived on the day of the Orgiva music festival and in the evening sat on the roof terrace listening to the music from the town below. The house perfectly matched the description provided and we (2 adults + 2 teenagers) had a lovely week - by the pool, walking through the fruit trees in the garden and into town post siesta, visiting the Alhambra (nb. remember to take your passports with you) going to the weekly market and the beach at Salobreña. We spent most evenings sitting on the roof terrace enjoying the wonderful views of the hillsides and local town and villages. We would highly recommend the house and hope to return.

Fantastic

We had a wonderful week at this fantastic property. It has so much going for it. Probably the biggest thing is the location - a short walk to the village (and the wonderful Baraka cafe/restaurant), incredible views from the terrace and yet completely secluded. It was great to have a private pool, not overlooked in any way, where we could relax. We visited in 'orange season' and loved wandering down the garden to pick an orange for breakfast each day. Anda and Carmen were both so friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

What a place!

What everyone else says is absolutely true - lovely villa in a great location near a nice town with excellent restaurants. The villa is on a quiet lane about 8 minutes walk from the church (thus the middle of town); it's tarmac to the gate of the secure parking area. Lovely pool area, great terrace(s) and bags of fun listening to the fruit drop off the trees into the undergrowth. Best pool lounger cushions ever - much trouble staying awake! The villa's great inside not that we spent all that much time there one way or another. The master bedroom was cool at night through using air conditioning in the evening then opening the windows when we went to bed. Wifi's reliable and quicker than the service we get in rural Norfolk :-) Orgiva's got enough to keep you amused. And, as my wife said, it's the only town we've been to that smells of oranges - go through the Plaza de la Alpujarra after a breezy afternoon and you'll get it. Sundry bars although the Meson El Viejo Molino gets a special mention for the warmth of the welcome, the free tapas and the outside seating area without immediate passing traffic. Similarly, the Pizzeria Almazar is worth a visit for generous portions and nice thin pizzas. Carmen (the on-site manager) was lovely, explained everything well and then left us to it making sure we understood she was a phone call away if needed. She wasn't required but it was nice to know she was available. Similarly, Anda took care of us well prior to arrival making sure we had the right information for a smooth arrival after a simple booking process. We're only prevented from returning in September as it's booked when we'd like to go. I'm told I'm going to be more efficient next year..........

Cappelania Is Stunning!

This was my third visit . First time was in May 2005 with my two boys then aged 5 and 11. That time was apparently a heat wave! It was incredibly hot. We went twice to the Alhambra . Those were the days when you could simply arrive and get a ticket! We had a wonderful week . The villa was huge! As other reviews have said the photographs simply cannot capture the grandeur, the romance and the sheer choice this villa has to offer! So many things to discover! The different terraces are wonderful for making the most of the incredibly peaceful setting with the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains, yet the town of Orgiva is just 5minutes easy downhill walking. The second time my visit was with my boyfriend . The villa was reasonable enough to have the indulgence of just being two of us. It was October, I worried that it might not be good weather , but it was warm and sunny. We ate out more than when I'd been with my children. The villa was perfect for self catering and beautiful evenings b the pool. My third visit with boyfriend and two of his friends a few years later, this time in April due to work commitments. Again I worried about the weather. On day of arrival we finally managed to visit Pepe Oro! Wow! What a fabulous welcome and incredible meal by the sea! The weather improved. The weather was beautiful and my friends faces on seeing the villa was wonderful! The library was very popular! The bath too was remarked upon! We had barbecues, which were delicious. In fact all food seemed to taste better. I think it must be the sweet fresh mountain air! The white Rioja was delicious. The Baraka restaurant , amazing falafel. This visit we went to visit the white villages which were stunning. I would say it has taken me three visits to really get the best from Cappelania. The only trouble is I am so sad to leave! I hope this review adds to the others to help you decide to go. It's wonderful! A real relaxing break from reality!

Fabulous private villa

The two of us spent 2 weeks in Capellania in late Sept/early Oct 2016. The first point to make, is that no matter how good the villa seems from the photos on the website, it does not do it justice. This is a wonderful property, with spiral staircases, moorish style archways, cool rooms and corridors and sunken baths on the inside and large terraces, lawns and courtyards on the outside. The views across Orgiva to the mountains is wonderful and to sit on the roof terrace in the evening, with a gin & tonic as the sun goes down behind the villa, is what holidays are made of! Orgiva is 5 mins walk away with 2 good tapas bars, virtually, at the bottom of the road. There's several good restaurants in the town although 50% of the time we eat at the villa using the BBQ and dining beside the pool. Carmen, who manages the property for Anda the owner, was really pleasant and helpful. We had a great holiday here and can't wait to go back.

Home from Home

We had a superb holiday at Cappellania from beginning to end. Carmen, the housekeeper, was the epitome of spanish hospitality showing us round the house and explaining everything in perfect English. The house itself is amazing. The architectural design creates a sense of space which is very conducive to relaxation. The muliplicity of rooms means everyone can have their own space if they so choose and having a variety of dining areas - (dining room, by the pool, in the garden, on the roof) means you always have a choice of sun or shade. The well stocked library was an added bonus for us. The house has the added benefit of being quiet and apart yet only 350m from the edge of the bustling town of Orgiva with its banks, shops and good quality eateries. Within the house itself there is plenty information about local amenities and guidebooks for sightseeing. We loved visiting the hilltop villages and hada great day out in Granada (one hour away). Anda (the owner) was a delight to deal with and very helpful in a variety of ways. A house to be recommended!

CAPELLANIA. A VILLA FIT FOR A QUEEN.

We have just returned from spending a great week at Capellania. Firstly, here are a few general bullet points about the property you may find helpful: • It’s even bigger than it looks. • It takes 4 minutes 20 seconds to get to the first bar in Orgiva on foot. • Access from town is a tarmacked road. • It has private secured parking. • Secluded gardens on all sides. • Very well equipped, no need to take hair dryers, towels etc. • No sneaky extras for cleaning and laundering. • First class communication with the owner and the house manager who make your stay hassle free. • The pool is deep and has an efficient filter. • The telly works without needing to be a programmer. • The beds are comfy as is the furniture. • The marble and terracotta floors keep the house cool. • The roof terrace has fantastic views of the mountains. I have to say the word ‘impressive’ is hardly an adequate adjective to describe this amazing property. From the striking works of art on the walls to the well-stocked and categorised library the house is full of pleasant surprises that revealed themselves as our week went by. So nothing better than to spend the heat of the day around the pool and then up to the roof terrace to watch the sunset turn the mountain into a vivid orange and then a glowing red vista which never fails to make you feel lucky to be there. We love Orgiva and return regularly. Having stayed twice at another of Anda’s properties, Casa Rosada, I knew that Capellania would not disappoint. Apart from the high standard of her properties I also think this one especially represents good value. We stayed in a villa about 200 m behind this one a few years ago which had the same tariff and was fine but it came nowhere near on size, quality or facilities. I think other reviewers have covered other aspects of the house and town so I won’t repeat these points but will just say that staying in Capellania made us feel like a Caliph and Calipha. More than a touch of authenticity!

We were looking for breath-taking views, tranquillity and a flavour of the authentic Spain (ie not the over-Anglicised coastal areas) and found these during our stay in the Alpujarras. Capellania is a spacious, interesting and comfortable house, only a 5 minute walk away from the centre of Orgiva which has ample bars, supermarkets and restaurants to suit a variety of tastes. Capellania’s Moorish design, inside and out, provided the ideal environment for a hot August in Andalucia – ample cool places and a really good-sized pool, though more natural shading outside would have been appreciated. The house’s furnishings, well-stocked library, deep Moorish bath and lovely gardens (packed with lemon, orange, fig, avocado and walnut trees, vines and stunningly beautiful flowers), added greatly to our enjoyment and although we visited Granada, Lanjaron and the Poquiera Valley (all excellent), we were very happy to stay put and take in the house’s beautiful scenery and unique environment. We found lots of fascinating walks (get up early if you visit in August), friendly people and excellent bars/restaurants where tapas really do come ‘free’ with the drink. We recommend El Molino and Almazarra in Orgiva. The town of Orgiva has an eclectic mix of people, and the whole area is popular with New Age people. Certainly, ethnic clothing abounds and the town’s slightly messy (mostly dogs) and littered streets may not be to everyone’s taste. But, look beyond this, and read Chris Stewart's book, 'Driving over lemons', and you’ll find a fascinating area. Carmen and Raul, who care for Capellania for the owner, are absolutely great! They could not have made us feel more welcome.
