About this property

Our family resides on the same property, in the main house.
We have two houses for rent in this agricultural property, each one totally independent and with its own large private terrace.
The swimming pool and the tennis court are shared by those who occupy these two houses, but all the other equipment is totally individual.
It would be interesting to rent both houses by the same family or group of friends if you want to have exclusive use of the pool or the tennis court.
This is a peaceful and quiet place, away from the noise of the city, but only five to ten minutes from one of the main arteries of Malaga, close to the beaches which have places where you can play beach volleyball and football, as well as an area of typical fish restaurants.Only 15 minutes from the historical, commercial and cultural centre of the city. The city of Malaga is an outbreak of colour, light, music and joy when their celebrations of Carnivals, Holy Week, Festivity of San Juan, Festivity of Our Lady Virgen del Carmen, Malaga Fair, City's Patron Saints' Days, Christmas are celebrated. And in where their folkloric gastronomy (tapas), customs and traditions like the flamenco one can be known first hand.
A fast and easy access to the Barcelona-Cadiz freeway, which allows you to visit the surrounding villages of our province (Ronda, Nerja, Marbella, Antequera, etc.) and also Granada, Córdoba, Sevilla and Cádiz.

The peaceful side of Malaga

A wonderful escape just a short drive away from Pedregalejo, and easy access to historic Malaga centre. A car is useful if you are going out a lot, but we found it fine without, as we like walking. We walked into town and used the bus (line 34, you can find details on EMT Malaga website), but the best part was relaxing on the beautiful private terrace or having a cosy dinner by the fire. Best of all, you can hike back through the village and into the hills, where the peaceful surroundings are the perfect contrast to the busy city. Juan Carlos and Matilde were the kindest of hosts, and we had a great break at their beautiful farm.

A beautiful location with great hosts

We spent a week at Finca Santa Matilde in September with our young children and their grandparents. The reception from Juan Carlos was fantastic, he met us at the local supermarket to make sure we would find the house and access it properly. Around a 20 minute drive from Malaga city, you will need a car to get about (I wouldn’t fancy walking the hill to the local Aldi!!) but the distance means you get a location that is an absolute antidote to the stress and bustle of city living. The space is fantastic, with large terraces, a swimming pool and a tennis court. The houses are well equipped- we rented both together and moved between the two via a joined terrace. It was beautiful watching the sun go down over the hills with a glass of wine. Our 3 year old loved the pool, the swing, seeing the ducks (and the neighbours escaped pig!). The grandparents spotted wild pigs and we saw lots of bats in the evening. As a location for a holiday where you want to relax, not worry about ‘doing things’ or use as a base for walks around the Malaga mountain range Finca Santa Matilde would be perfect. The hosts are brilliant and as an example, we left an item at the house which Matilde has now posted to our current location (we stayed as part of a longer Spanish road trip). We all thoroughly recommend the property and the hosts.

Great views from relaxing house

Spent a lovely week here, enjoying the beautiful views from the shaded terrace. Everything was very clean. Matilde was really helpful, always on hand to ask if we needed anything, and providing information and advice. It was great having a pool in such hot weather. It's 2m deep, but our 9 yr old made the best of it. We took the bus into Centro a couple of times, which was easy and took about 20 min. Juan Carlos met us to guide us to the house for the last leg which was welcome as I think we might have struggled as the surrounding area is very steep, narrow and winding roads. The road up to the house is also slightly tricky to navigate.

Great few days shared with adult daughter who lives in central Malaga

This is a wonderful property. It’s well maintained and super clean. There is huge private terrace providing sun all day if required but there is also a shady pergola. We didn’t use the swimming pool but it looked very inviting and well maintained. There are plenty of sun beds available. All necessary equipment was provided in the house. Although it is only 15 minutes from Malaga city we found it very useful to have hired a car as the property is in the hills. Juan Carlos kindly guided us to it on arrival.. Juan Carlos and Matilde were ever present via WhatsApp for any requirement or advice.

The owners of the property are the best hosts we’ve ever had, genuinely kind and incredible people who answered any questions we had as a young family and helped us a lot when we needed it. The house was a perfect location for a quiet space, with lots great views. Definitely recommend renting a car if you’re staying as the hill is steep to get there but it’s necessary as I said as the views are great. Everything was in good working order and perfect for a simple stay.

Great quiet getaway not too far from Malaga city

The property is a beautiful Spanish farmhouse set in 7 hectares of Avocado and Mango plantations. The neighbourhood is quiet and set in a valley just 15 or so minutes by car to Malaga city. There is also a regular bus to and from the city which stops just a few minutes walk from the gate at the bottom of the property. Overall we found the stay very good, and Juan Carlos and Matilde were very helpful and welcoming. Thank you both!

WOW! Prepared to be amazed!

We originally were looking to book in Malaga city centre but then came across this property! All i can say is WOW! The views from the property were absolutely amazing. The property itself was well maintained and had everything we needed as a young family. Our hosts Juan Carlos & Matilde were amazing throughout our stay. They were always on hand if we needed anything via Whatsapp. We even exchanged some food on Christmas day! We really enjoyed meeting the whole family, they were all lovely! Only negative was the location in Malaga itself, it was quite a challenge initially getting to and from the house however after a few days this became much easier. We would definately recommend getting a car if your staying at this property (if not, be prepared to walk down from the property to the bus stop at the bottom of the village - approx 10 mins) We will definitely be back, thank you once again!

Truly the perfect villa for our first taste of Southern Spain.

An idyllic setting with beautiful 360 views from the terrace of the surrounding mountains and the sea. A peaceful, rural and relaxing villa but only minutes from the A7 motorway along the Costa Del Sol and straight down under the motorway to the Malaga coast. Shops and supermarkets in easy reach. We loved taking the 1 Eoro 30 bus ride from the bottom of the private road to the property , along the coast and into Malaga centre and port , hopping on and off at beaches along the way ! Matilde and family are the perfect hosts, meeting us just off the motorway to guide us through the narrow Spanish village streets and up to the villa itself. Communication was made easy through a WhatsApp family chat group both before and during our stay so that any questions were quickly answered and we were provided with helpful suggestions and advice throughout. All in all we loved our stay at Finca Santa Matilde ,enjoying trips to Granada and La Alhambra , up into the picturesque Andalucian 'white villages' in the mountains and exploring Malaga but returning to the spacious terraces and facilities at the villa for a refreshing dip in the lovely pool,and a gentle sea breeze at the end of the day.

Wonderful week with the kids!

Beautiful secluded property in the hills with stunning views, and surrounded by mango and avocado trees. Ample outdoor space with fences all around so safe for my 2 and 4 year old to play. Pool and tennis court. Well-equipped kitchen. Very clean! The hosts were friendly and very helpful. The only negative (which isn't the fault of the owners at all!) is that there are lots of dogs in the village below the villa who all decide to bark at the same time in the middle of the night. But it's amazing how we got used to it after a few days! But only a small complaint, and everything else more than made up for it. We would love to go back.

Gorgeous home

Beautiful home and really helpful and friendly owners. The house was very clean as was the pool area. Food, drink or music is not allowed at the pool and should really be stated on the listing of the property. The house was a bit out of the way of things and would require a car to stay here. Would definitely recommend this property for anyone who loves peace and quiet.

Much to my surprise, I was asked by the owner to leave her property a mere 12 hours into my holiday, and “to never come back.” But then my amigo sorted us out with a belter appartment and we had a fantastic time, what about it.

Lovely property in convenient location

The house is really lovely and well equipped. The location is ideal not too far from the motorway to explore the surrounding area. Matilde and Juan Carlos could not have been more kind and went to extraordinary lengths to ensure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed evenings on the huge enclosed terrace which was a safe environment for a toddler to play. Couldn't recommend this too highly if you want somewhere in the country but accessible to all amenities. Thank you Matilde and Juan Carlos

Fantastic welcoming hosts in a very private location

A comfortable property with all the essentials for a pleasnt stay. Matilde and Juan Carlos were such accommodating hosts - nothing was too much trouble but totally discreet. We felt at home and no intrusions from the other residents. The pool and surrounds were really well maintained and the gardens were delightful. The finca is close to the village but up a very steep unmade up track - ok for keen walkers otherwise a car is essential.

Great house for a relaxing family holiday

We had a lovely stay at the sailor house. The house is very spacious and clean and the air conditioning and large shady terrace were very welcome in the hot weather. The location was great: closed to Malaga, beaches and the motorway to visit places but in a quiet location . Beautiful garden, tennis court and nice swimming pool. Although there are two other holiday houses on the site, our house was very private . Great wifi meant that our teenage daughter was happy too! Matilde and Juan Carlos very very friendly and discreet hosts . Our flight was very late on Saturday and Matilde offered to buy supplies for us for the next day as supermarkets are closed on Sundays and Juan Carlos came to meet us ( the access to the house is quite complicated via a small streets and steep dirt road ). Cleaning was also included which meant that you truly make the most of your stay!! Highlights apart from the house were. - dolphin trip in Benalmadena - Nerja beach and Frigiliana - beautiful reservoir near Ardales Highly recommended

A FANTASTIC HOLIDAY

Friends at work strongly recommended this house for a vacation with kids if we were going to Andalusia. They could not have been more right. Property was the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy the sports with the kids. Country walks, tennis, and long hours sunbathing at the terrace close the BBQ. Malaga city is very welcoming and nice, and very close! There's always a good atmosphere in the streets. Their villages have amazing views and landscapes, great food, friendly people and the wines!! The property was gorgeous and more than we could have hoped for. Mathilde & Juan Carlo were hospitable, generous and extremely helpful. Thank you so much.

Maison à Málaga Espagne

Lovely beautiful home that has everything you you need. Local bus service is also available; ALDI shop is only 20 minutes walk away. Lovely host in Juan & Matilde. Good location. Lovely hosts..., excellent size rooms - swimming pool - tennis courts. It may be a better idea to rent a car as it's a bit of a drive from Malaga seafront; and there is a 300m hike from the main gate to the main house - not too strenuous. Taxis hardly venture to the property because of the 300m hike. I will recommend this lovely place to anyone.

I'm a librarian because I like people and books. And I think that books help us and make us free.
But every time I like nature and the countryside, especially to see and take care of mango trees and avocado farm that my brothers and I have received from our parents.

What makes this property unique

The house is surrounded by nature, where we can breathe clean air, walk or hike, observe the small birds of the garden like the blackbirds, and the larger birds that fly from the rocks of Monte San Antón in search of food. All seasons are good for watching nature.
The Finca is surrounded by a Mediterranean landscape represented by the Monte de San Antón at the East (protected landscape), and limits to the North with the Natural Park of the Montes de Málaga. At the same time, the house is close to the beaches, 3 km. From the terrace, facing south, you can see the Mediterranean Sea.
But we are not lost in the world. We are far enough from the city to relax, but close enough to combine visits to the center of Malaga or the neighborhoods of Pedregalejo and El Palo. Far enough away from the airport and the train station to be quiet, but without having to spend more than 20 minutes to reach them. The A-7 motorway that connects us with all of Andalusia and with all of Spain is only 2.5 km away. Of the estate.
And all this combined with the possibility of doing sports on the property: swimming pool, non-professional tennis, ball games, hiking, etc. Or play in the garden. Or in the beaches.
