Ardnagashel is a magical place. A large modern house (with adjoining studio apartment) situate on its own private grounds directly on the shore of Bantry Bay with wonderful south facing views and surrounded by 20 acres of mature woodland gardens littered with exotic specimen trees and shrubs from parts of the world. The principal attraction of this property is the beautiful private pebble beach located right outside the front door of the house!

Please note that we can only accept Friday-Friday bookings in June, July and August due to availability of cleaning staff.

Acccomodation for extended family wedding guests

Mary was welcoming and did a tremendous job with looking after us and providing us with all the necessary information needed about the house, transport and surrounding area. The house is well laid out and suited our needs. I would however say that the downstairs en-suite bathroom needs a complete upgrade as it's falling apart. It would also be beneficial to have a downstairs cloakroom for guests in place of the sauna. Please consider modernizing the heating system to one that is practical for guests to use. Finally, the seating area outside looks tired and could also use a bit of a lift. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this property as it is in a peaceful location and has spectacular views

Property Review

Mary was very helpful and made our stay very comfortable. She went out of her way to sort minor issues that arose during our stay. The property had a brilliant location and was well catered. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

Wonderful

Ardnagashel was just beautiful. The house was stunning. Really clean and lots of room for everyone. The view was spectacular. It was a great location for day trips to Kerry and Cork. We stayed local on our last day and visited glengarriff nature reserve. Then visited bantry,O’Connors fish restaurant is highly recommended abandon great for children. Mary was really helpful and friendly. Always there for questions. We went for a dip in the sea right outside the house! A fantastic stay!

This is a fabulous house and a location beyond compare. Kitchen is well equipped. Nearby Bantry and Glengarriff offered good hospitality.

Beachside house

The position and views with this property were exceptional. Tranquil, unspoilt and relaxing. The manager Mary was also a lovely, helpful lady who answered all of our questions. The property it’s self is well built but it does need some TLC and Mary mentioned that all the windows are to be replaced next year . The kitchen is well equipped and the use of a tumble dryer and washing machine were very helpful to us. The beds were comfortable but some extra electrical sockets and mirrors are needed for guests to be able to dry their hair. There is a separate annexe to one side of the house which is ideal for grandparents etc.

Excellent holiday!

We absolutely loved our stay. The house is better than in photos and it’s location is beautiful, right by the sea. Perfect for morning swims! Mary, the property manager, was fantastic. So welcoming and helped us with tips for our trip and even babysat one night for us which was amazing. The local area has so many things to do, boat trips to the islands, golf, walks and pubs. The only thing we missed was any Irish music! One of the showers was quite cold but this was rectified quickly. Would highly recommend!

Idyllic West Cork Weekend

We booked this house for a friends and family weekend. The property is exactly as described, great facilities and beautiful location right on the water. Step outside for a swim and only a short drive from Glengarriff and Bantry. Mary was extremely helpful and sorted everything we could ask for. Would highly recommend!

A Wonderful Christmas in a fabulous house

We were a party of 8 adults staying in Ardnagashel House for a week over Christmas. The property is stunning-even better than the photos suggest. The location is unbeatable and wonderfully remote. We made good use of the games room and even braved the water ! The kitchen is really well stocked with plenty of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans. Beautifully furnished, the home was warm and welcoming and we really didn't want to leave. Moya answered all my questions promptly and Mary, the manager was very efficient and helpful. Book a stay-you won't be disappointed!

Amazing stay at a beautiful seafront property

Such an amazing stay at this stunning house with great views! The house is cozy with plenty of windows to take in the sites. Possibly some additional outdoor lighting would be great to enjoy the view in the evening but overall this property and location is a win. Would love to come back and stay again.

A perfect spot

We have spent a most memorable three weeks in Ardnagashel House and cannot recommend it highly enough. A fantastic secluded position with the sea so close that when the tide is in, looking out of the huge windows makes one thing you are at sea. Wonderful birdlife outside the door - we even had a deer come within metres of the house. The sea is great for very bracing but safe swimming. The house is warm and snug when you need it and light and airy at other times. All the rooms are absolutely fine with excellent showers etc. Nearby is everything you need - fantastic walking to suit all, exotic gardens to visit etc. Provisions all easily accessibly in Ballylickey (excellent supermarket at the petrol station) or in Bantry. A really great holiday location!

Magical house in a magical setting

We had a wonderful stay in Ardnagashel. The house is spacious and bright and beautifully positioned overlooking the ever changing sea. The house has 6 very comfortable bedrooms - 5 in the main house and one in an adjoining apartment and plenty of bathrooms too. Any queries or issues we had were very swiftly and efficiently dealt with. Ute and her daughter were wonderful and welcoming. I have to say it is one of the nicest rental properties I have stayed in and there have been a few.

Perfect spot to explore the beauty of West Cork

Over two glorious weeks in July, I enjoyed the company of a range of friends and family relaxing and soaking up the glorious view of Bantry bay at this lovely property The house was perfect, enough room for us to all have our space with the comforts of home. We availed of the abundance of local ingredients and cooked up a storm every evening in a well equipped and pleasant kitchen. Enjoying a coffee or a gin & tonic while looking out over the clear waters of the bay every day was both restful and uplifting .. none of us wanted to leave. We were lucky to have had glorious weather which meant we swam every day in the beautiful bay .. chilly of course but so gorgeous we found it hard to drag both children and adults out of the water ! Stephanie, the property manager, was a joy and went to great lengths to ensure we had a wonderful stay. I cannot recommend this property enough and am already thinking of when we might come back !

Idyllic tranquil location

This is the perfect spot for a relaxing break for a large number of guests. We had 12 in the house for 4 nights and always seemed to have loads of room without ever getting under each others feet. All bedrooms are ensuite with very comfortable beds. The living room is very peaceful, directly overlooking the bay. We had great weather so sat on the picnic bench outside quite a lot. We even had a BBQ one day, which Moya's husband very kindly put together for us (very helpful !). The kids spent quite a bit of time on the little beach, (they even went for a dip in the arctic bay !!) aswell as exploring in the woods behind the house. All in all, a great stay. so good in fact that 12 members of the same family didn't feel like killing each other after 4 days under the same roof !! :).......Bantry is a 10 min drive one way and Glengariff the same the other way so perfect location all around. This is def our new way of spending time with a large group as everyone enjoyed it so much

Stunning location and a great welcome

An absolutely beautiful location. Stephanie had some scones awaiting our arrival and had put some Easter eggs in the grounds for the kids to find. The games room was an added bonus that we were not expecting. Everyone was extremely friendly. The house was very comfy with plenty of room for our extended family and the wifi quality was good. The surrounding countryside is spectacular and my wife and I enjoyed kayaking around to Garnish Island on one of the days. Hope to go back again some time.

Interesting property!

Interesting sprawling property with the house right on the water, with close distance to a couple of small towns for necessities. Come prepared for the cold and rain especially if visiting in the fall/winter. Heat is on a 2 hour timer, and keeping a fire going during the day and evening helps keep things warm. Mary was a very responsive and gracious host.

Nice home great location great hiking trails, easy access to highway. Access entrance to highway could be better poor site distance. The people, the home the property all was great, we had a good stay Thank you Tim and friends

Lovely Time by the Sea

We had a lovely family reunion with our kids/spouses! The home provided tons of sitting areas, excellent dining room, hot water for showers! Just wonderful. Our host provided immediate answers to questions and helpful ideas about outings. Helpful hints might include more hooks for bathroom towels and more outdoor seating on front porch overlooking sea.

Stunning views in this relaxing abode, nestled in nature

My family stayed at Ardnagashel Estates for 5 nights and enjoyed every moment. Mary greeted us to check-in, and was so helpful throughout the entire stay, showing us around this beautiful property and how to use the amenities and suggested the local places to go for anything we needed. We enjoyed the peaceful interaction with nature (every time we looked out the windows onto Bantry Bay, there was a different type of animal or boat to watch, and the property is nested back in a beautiful forest of trees and greenery). We completely disconnected during our time there. You will fall in love with the house, the property and the countryside and won't want to leave. We look forward to coming back to stay at Ardnagashel Estates next time we are in Glengariff. Thank you Mary!

Lovely home in a fantastic location

A group of eight of us spent a lovely three nights in this home. We were delighted by all aspects of the stay. The host responded to a couple of pre-arrival questions. The house was easy to find off the Bantry-Glengarriff road. It's about a 15 minute drive from Bantry. On arrival the house was spotless. All the bedrooms were large and very comfortable. There's a living room, large dining room, family room with TV, and a games room. Bantry Bay is right out front: 15 yards from the front door. Even though the water was chilly most of us took a dip. Invigorating! Kudos to the host for having the house ready for us after Storm Agnes had gone through the previous day knocking down some trees and pushing kelp up onto the shore.

Ireland is magical

Mary was a wonderful host. The house was perfect and I love that we all fit around the table. The driveway to the house is long. Our 32 passenger coach was not able to make it all the way down the road, therefore we got to do beautiful hikes each time we left. We would highly recommend this location for your stay.

Geweldige familievilla op mooie locatie.

Het huis was perfect schoon en geweldig ruim opgezet. Iedereen had genoeg privacy en de kamers waren prima ingericht. De locatie gelijk aan de waterzijde is echt bijzonder. We hebben heerlijk gegeten zowel thuis als in de lokale omgeving. Echt een aanrader. Er is voor natuur en wandel liefhebbers genoeg te doen.

Fantastic family get away

The accommodation was perfect for our large family group, with all the bedrooms in use. Lots of well stocked presses in the kitchen, heaps of glasses, crockery etc. and the two dishwashers got plenty of use. The weather wasn't kind to us during our stay and the kids made great use of the games room and the TV/ library. The large sitting room was perfect for cosy chats around the roaring fire. Bandon and Glengariff are within easy reach ad we all enjoyed our trip to Garnish Island. We are all looking forward to doing it again sometime.

Stunning property

We had a wonderful stay at Ardnagashel! Mary was a joy to deal with and made our stay extremely comfortable. The property itself was clean, inviting and spacious for our family. The location is phenomenal. Sitting outside by the ocean was magical. Gorgeous Glengarriff was 2 mins away by car and offered delicious locally sourced seafood. We highly recommend a stay at this property. We will certainly be booking back in.
