Fabulous house in a great location

House has everything you need -4 bedrooms all en-suite, well-equipped living space and all the mod cons needed in the kitchen. Outdoor space is fabulous - plenty garden space, multiple dining areas and shade. The pool is perfect and there is table tennis and darts too. 15 min drive to Sarlat and there are views all around with plenty activities to do. We visited gardens and chateaus, kayaked on the Dordogne, hired bikes on fantastic cycle paths and swam at the local plan d’eau at Grolejac. This was accompanied by many lovely meals after visiting local markets/late night shopping in Sarlat or trips to other beautiful towns such as Montfort and Domme. Pizza after Pirate mini-golf was also great fun. Many happy memories. Great comms from Sue - thanks again for a lovely holiday. Highly recommend!

Wonderful

We had a great holiday here - the location is perfect. Very peaceful but close enough to amenities and all major attractions. The house is very well equipped and spacious. The pool/terrace was ideal for kids and adults. Communication from the host was excellent both before and during our stay. It was the perfect holiday for us and we would not hesitate to recommend this house to others. Thank you for having us!

Superb Accommodation in Tranquil Location

The accommodation, with 4 ensuite bedrooms, and a wonderfully private pool in a sunny garden was perfect for our family. The location was really good; just far enough outside the main tourist spots to be tranquil, but some local shops and good restaurants within a short drive, (or even walk), and the main tourist spots and activities such as cycle hire and walking trails, canoeing, etc all within easy reach. The range of equipment provided, from towels, linen, catering and cooking utensils, dishwasher, washing machine, an outdoor plancha, linen and towels, table tennis, dart board etc was extensive. We've stoped in many properties in France and USA and we literally wanted for nothing here. It was equipped like a home from home. The communication by the hosts was second to none; they kept in touch throughout our stay. We have visited the Dordogne many times over the past 30 years and this is the best accommodation we have experienced. We would recommend it without hesitation and it will be our first and only choice on our next visit.

Very nice house in a great location.

We were 2 families of 4 and really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, comfortable and spacious stone house, very well equipped and with a large pool. It is located in a quiet hamlet and in a very convenient location to explore the region and enjoy the activities of the Dordogne river...

Relaxing holiday

Wonderful 2 weeks in this super spacious and comfortable house. Located in a tiny hamlet with no street lights you can sit outside enjoying peace, a glass of wine and star gaze! The pool is amazing and a must when it gets hot. Lots of touristy things to do in the area or stay at home and relax. We were a family of 3 generations and everybody had a wonderful time.

"Coffee with Susan"

A wonderful three week stay - including the mid-July heatwave of 2022 Close enough to Sarlat and all the wonderful attractions of the Dordogne, yet tucked away in a tiny hamlet that makes you feel as un-touristy and part of the countryside as you could wish. We were a family group, three couples and a grandson. It's hard to imagine it being more perfect.

Peaceful and so relaxing

The house is beautiful and situated in a lovely quiet Hamlet. The swimming pool is amazing and perfect for our competitive family swimming races! The gardens are so well kept. It was a difficult decision whether or not to go away this year but I am so pleased we did! Great communication with Paul and Susan. Very much hope to go back in the future to continue exploring this wonderful area of France

Great holiday home

We had a lovely stay at coffee with Susan. The house is perfect especially for 2 families staying together. Separate ensuite bathrooms means that each family has their privacy. We stayed with two teenagers, one 5 year old and one 2 year old. The house is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a holiday. The two outside tables mean that there is always somewhere shady to sit. The pool is a good size for just 8 people. The gite is brilliantly located near Sarlat and close enough to the main road to make going to the supermarket a quick visit. The boulangerie in Carlux is easy to get to in the mornings. Sue provided lots of detailed information on the local area, places to visit and recommended restaurants. Many thanks

Gem of a property in a gem of a location

This is our second stay in the Dordogne and yet again we were not disappointed. 'Coffee with Susan' is a lovingly converted barn with great amenities that made our stay enjoyable. The weather was fantastic too! The location is quite remote but suited what we were looking for - a must though to go to the small boulangerie in Carlux for the bread and croissants, amazing!

Very happy with it-good

Loved the region & accommodation was good. Very clean & well maintained. Good service & briefing notes from manager. Pool was essential & very good . Would recommend it. Good location & recommendations from manger on restaurants was excellent. Needs a name on the house as GPS had us entering town from wrong direction & took some time to find it initially although it is only a small town.

Excelllent house for a family holiday

The house is exactly as described with a good sized pool and a sensible deep end, much fun was had playing water polo or relaxing on the lilos! The layout of the house is excellent with each bedroom having an ensuite bathroom which is a huge benefit when sharing with other families or you have older children who want their own privacy. The house was very clean and tidy and communication from the owner was excellent prior to the rental. There is plenty to do in the area Sarlat is only a 15 min drive and even in the height of summer the roads are not too busy. We would recommend canoeing at Cap Evasion Saint Julien de Lampon just across the river bridge on the right We also took a trip to the Velorail du Perigord which was about an 1hr and 20mins away which was great fun for the whole family pedalling the kart to the top of the railway and then racing back down Lots of choice locally and in Sarlat for food - we had an excellent meal at St Julihan Restaurant which serves a good variety of food to suit most tastes Cycling and walking is good either on road on the converted railways. If you are a keen cyclist the roads are good and there are plenty of hills to train on! In summary thanks to Sue for a very enjoyable and relaxing family holiday

Perfect for Families

There were 6 of us (4 adults, 2 teenagers) for one week. Being familiar with the Dordogne area, we knew we wanted to stay a bit off the beaten path, but still be near all the wonderful attractions the area has to offer. We also knew that we needed sufficient space for everybody to have some 'alone time', but also bring the family together. The house fit the bill perfectly! With a well-eqipped kitchen, separate bathrooms, a pool, table tennis, and a delightful patio we were able to cook, play games and relax after busy days sightseeing. Absolutely loved visiting Sarlat (repeatedly) as well as Carlux (great restaurant and bakery). The listing was accurate, the property clean and well-maintained and Sue provided fabulous customer service---I can recommend this property without hesitation.

Perfect honeymoon retreat

After a busy few weeks moving house and getting married, we arrived needing some quiet and a place to relax. This turned out to be the perfect place. The house was spotlessly clean and in good condition and we were impressed by how cool it was inside considering the heat outside. The well equipped kitchen meant that we could easily cook for ourselves . We enjoyed using the private pool and laying about in the sun on the loungers. In the evening, we ate in the outside dining area watching the sun go down. The area around the house is quite rural but thanks to the information from Sue, we found a rustic restaurant which you could walk to and there was plenty to see and do a short drive away. We recommend visiting Sarlat and Domme and canoeing along the river from Carsac. Would recommend for quiet and relaxing hols in an area where there is plenty to see and do.

Honestly described gem. No hidden surprises.

On arrival, we felt that we had stayed here before, as everything was as described in the listing. The four bedrooms, all en-suite, were spacious and comfortable and the inside of the building had been designed wonderfully with two bedrooms at either end and the living space, over two levels in the centre. Due to the extremely warm weather we experienced (not complaining), the swimming pool was everything we could have hoped for. The clear water was maintained, during our stay, by an unobtrusive neighbour who had completed his task before we even noticed. The property is located in a quiet hamlet and it was nice to hear our French neighbours going about their daily lives. Apart from the unlimited, excellent eating places in the area, the highlight of our week was our kayaking expedition down the dordogne (with the current and then a pick up and return by road to our starting point) all for 17 euro a head! Circumstances dictated that we could only stay a week but it was ideal for our family get together and I would have no hesitation in returning to that beautiful area of the country and staying at "Coffee with Susan"

An amazing holiday home

The house was perfect for our family of three generations including two young children. The pool was fantastic, especially as we had very hot weather, and it is designed to be suitable for all age groups. It is in a very beautiful quiet rural setting, but close to busier tourist attractions. We loved the canoeing, the Roque Saint Christophe, the local markets, Beynac Castle, and we had a very memorable meal at the Halle Paysanne in Carlux- thanks to Paul and Sue's recommendation. We would love to be able to return!

great place in beautiful area

When we were looking for a property to rent in the Dordornge and came across this one, right in the area we wanted to stay, we couldn't believe our luck, it really lived up to our expectations. It's a well looked after and clean property and only a 10 min drive into Sarlat which is a beautiful town. The large pool and table tennis were great fun, there's a good amount of outdoor space to relax in and all bedrooms have an ensuite which was perfect for 4 couples! The only thing missing from an otherwise well furnished place is If you like to listen to music and have an ipod, take some speakers as there isn't a system.

Coffee with Susan

Stunning, well equipped house with gorgeous pool. Great location for visiting all the Dordogne has to offer. The photos on the website do the house justice however they make it look like it has a lot of open land around it when in fact the house is in the middle of a small hamlet and has houses all around. (Not that this is a problem as the house and pool area are not overlooked). The only downside is the amount of flies you get coming into the house! Never seen so many and they get annoying after a while, a consequence of being out in the countryside I suppose. All in all though a lovely property, perfect for two families holidaying together. Would definitely recommend.

Serenity in Rural France

Even in February the converted barn offered a warm home in which to relax and a comfortable base to explore the beauty of the surrounding countryside. Many miles of former railway line have been converted to pathways and provided a great way of accessing the rural areas, on foot (with pushchair) or by bicycle. The accomodation was well equipped and had all that we needed to keep up with the demands of our 2 year old. The breakfast run to the local bakery proved to be a big hit with our little boy, who enjoyed trying out his 'bonjours' with the locals.

Our time sharing Coffee with Susan

The house is a wonderful base to explore this beautifual area. All rooms are big with excellent ensuite facilities. With teenage children to keep entertained, the games room & pool were ideal whilst we relaxed on the sun terrace. I can't recommend this too highly to anyone. We'll definitely be back!
