Lovely house, perfect location!
We had a lovely stay at Pallas Lodge, the house was amazing, with the best view ever! Pat and Kay met us on day one, showed us around the house and then gave us some ideas of where to visit on the Beara Peninsula. There was food and milk in the fridge for us for breakfast the next morning also! If you want a quiet undisturbed holiday on the wild Atlantic coast you can not go wrong here! A beautiful place, and a fabulous house to stay in!

Sublime beauty
Kay and Ted met us at the house and stocked the fridge with some eggs, bread, butter, Irish bacon and sausages, milk. Freshly cut flowers from their garden decorated the table. The house sits on a beautiful bluff with a view of the Pallas Pier. The views are spectacular and the Beara Peninsula is enchanting. Beds comfortable, clean linens, fully stocked kitchen for cooking meals. Quiet, peaceful and one of our favorite home sharing experiences ever.

An idyllic week in June at Pallas Lodge
From the moment we stepped into the door, welcomed by Kay and Pat our very friendly hosts, we immediately began to relax into an extremely attractive and comfortable home. The spacious artistic house is in an idyllic setting, and furnished to a high standard. It has many places to sit and relax and is fully equipped with everything you could possibly want and more. It feels like a well loved home in every sense of the word, rather than a holiday rental. Like the house, the garden too is attractively designed with lawns and an array of colour co-ordinated flowers and shrubs. Beyond the garden, the views are stunning down to the fishing harbour and mountains beyond. The Beara Peninsula has an unspoilt feel with plenty of less touristy places to visit. We drove the coastal lanes with stunning views, as well as visiting small towns and villages and delightful places to eat. If you love beauty, hares! and are looking for a peaceful and stress-free holiday surrounded by nature, then book a stay at Pallas Lodge.

Beautiful location. The house was just lovely and Kay and Patrick so welcoming. They left everything
The Beara is a beautiful place to stay if you love a peaceful, wild landscape. The drive around the coast and over the mountains is stunning with a different., spectacular view every minute. Patrick and Kay recommended several places to see and they were spot on. The little villages and gardens and friendly pubs and places to eat. We took a little ferry from Glengarriff to Garnish Island which was well worth the visit. The house is clean with well kept gardens and a beautiful view of the bay which is only a 2 minute walk from the house. We had everything we needed and more for a fab holiday.

Superb!
My friends and I have just returned from a glorious weeks holiday in this superb property. The lovely owners Pat & Kay could not have been more helpful or welcoming, they were there to greet us on our arrival having provided us with excellent directions from Cork airport. The area is breathtaking and beyond simple words, suffice to say pay a visit and see the beauty for yourself. I cannot praise the area or this wonderful property enough. The pictures on the site pale into insignificance when you see this property in real time, it has everything you could wish for and then some, wonderful setting and a well maintained house which has a great ambience, a real home from home, with very caring and generous hosts. The people of Cork have big warm welcoming hearts and we were made very welcome. Pat & Kay spent time telling us about the local attractions and had plenty of literature on hand for our perusal. The local shop has a good selection of food stuffs but we took the lovely drive to Castletonbere to the Valu supermarket which had everything you could wish for, while there we enjoyed an excellent lunch of seafood at Murphy's highly recommended especially the mussels. The Atlantic Way bar in Kenmare has the best fish and chips ever and if you fancy a romantic evening then certainly go to Josie's restaurant just past the turn for Lauragh fresh home grown and delicious food with a superb hostess, and fabulous views. I cannot recommend this Lodge highly enough to do it justice you just have to go and see for yourselves. Wonderful!! Thank you Pat & Kay for a truly unforgettable holiday. Hope to visit again with my husband and family next time. Rosemary Sue & Sue xxx

Nothing short of Fabulous!
My husband and I, along with another couple, stayed in Pat and Kay's beautiful home for a week this past May. Following a harrowing drive from Dublin, all stress was gone upon entering the home. Pat was there to meet us, gave us a tour, and even bought us our first beer down at the pub. The house itself is immaculate. There is easily enough space for three couples to come and stay and have their own space. There are 2 seating areas to relax in, but by far the most spectacular feature of this home is the outdoor space. There is a beautiful garden out back with a view. The perfect place to come and sit for coffee in the morning, or wine in the evening. The sheep, cows, bunnies, and the neighborhood fox will be the only company in this very tranquil space. Additionally, the folks in the town of Ardgroom are the most welcoming bunch. The store (Harringtons) has everything you could need, and the pub is perfect. Great food, and great beer...of course. From the house, we set out each day to a different part of the Southwest of Ireland, whether it be close towns like Kenmare, Macroom, or Castletownbare, or ones further away like Kinsale, Killarney, or Dingle. All can be reached in 2-3 hours, and then you have this wonderful house to come home to and relax after a day of driving. It is a "MUST SEE". Don't miss the opportunity.

A Wonderful Holiday!
Pallas Lodge was fantastic! The pictures and descriptions don't do it justice . . the home was very comfortable and spacious and extremely clean. Pat and Kay have thought of everything. There were 3 living areas (main living area with fireplace, the sunroom-surrounded by windows with lots of light and gorgeous scenery, and an upstairs loft get-away - off of the 3rd bedroom. It was a wonderful get-away . . very quiet and very peaceful. We drove all over southwest Ireland during our stay at Pallas Lodge (Pat had given us great information and maps), but the best of SW Ireland was the Ring of Beara - which was only just a few kilometers from the house! The tour books all tout the Ring of Kerry - which was very nice - but did not compare to the Ring of Beara. Besides the wide variety of scenery, there were no buses to contend with on those small roads. There were many places to hike and explore. We saw stone circles, castles, and majestic scenery. The many people we met were absolutely charming and very helpful. Our favorite towns were Castletownbere and Kenmare. We ate at family-owned pubs, listened to live traditional music, and experienced "craic"! The town of Ardgroom has a one-stop shop, Harrington's, for all your needs, including internet service. I would stay here again and again and would definitely recommend Pallas Lodge to anyone wanting to stay in SW Ireland - you must have a car to make the most of the area. Killharney National Park is less than an hour away and is also a jewel. My Mom, my Aunt and I are very happy that we spent the majority of our vacation time in the Cork/Kerry areas - it was the best of the best! And Pallas Lodge was an extremely comfortable place to begin and end our days. Orginally, our vacation plans were to see and do as much as we could with our time in Ireland . . but many mornings as we drank our coffee and watched Ardgroom bay and the sheep, cattle and bunnies graze around the cottage, we found ourselves pleasantly relaxed and willing to throw out our pre-planned iternaries for a slower, more enjoyable pace and really experience Ireland. Thank you.

Extremely nice holiday home
Stay in this house if you get the chance!! I would recommend this place to anyone interested in staying in the West of Ireland as it was perfect for our vacation to West Cork. It is as described and is actually nicer in person than in the pictures. It is in a very pastoral setting right on the scenic "Ring of Beara" and only half an hour's drive from the start of the "Ring of Kerry." On beautiful days it is private enough to open up the windows and enjoy the fresh sea breezes all day without a need for anything more. If you get restless, there is a nice little village with a general store, internet access, and a cozy little pub less than a couple miles away. There is also some outstanding hiking in the area with plenty of ancient stones and historic sites to explore. We weren't very adventurous athletically, but I'd bet in an outdoors like the Beara you could find plenty to keep yourself active as well, just ask the owners who are knowledgeable about the area and happy to help. The owners were also incredibly hospitable to us. We had difficulty getting to the house on the first day since most car rentals were booked for a busy tourist weekend, but the owner waited for us until very late and even had a fire going when we got there. We couldn't have been more relieved and grateful!

Wonderful Pallas Lodge
We had a wonderful time in Pallas Lodge and were welcomed by our lovely host Pat and beautiful flower arrangements from the garden. The hosts had left everything for a full Irish breakfast for us for the next morning and everything was super clean. Pat shared his time generously to explain everything regarding the house and what to do in the area. The house is much prettier than described in the ad and we had a gorgeous time with amazing views. Communication with Kay was straight forward and lovely. It felt like Kay and Pat really care about their guests and want them to have a great experience. Definitely hoping to come back.

Wonderful locaction, a bit out of the way
The house is awesome and leaves nothing to be desired. Several bathrooms, spacious and well furnished with everything and more you could need. The Beara Peninsula is wild and lovely at the same time. However, getting there and driving the ring of Beara was quite an adventure for us (narrow roads and many curves). Many thanks to our hosts who provided us with the ingredients for an Irish breakfast. We liked it very much (even the black and the white pudding).

Amazing Ireland
This is a beautiful house in a fabulous location. The house has every amenity, a wonderful view in the Beara peninsula, which for someone who has been to Ireland 8 times is one of the most interesting and least visited places in Ireland. If you want peaceful, interesting and comfortable places - this is the place for you.
