About this property

Pet Friendly Cotswold Lakeside Lodge, 3 Bed/2 bath, free parking

Looking for a break away in the Cotswolds? 57 Spring Lake is a beautiful lakeside lodge offering something for everyone....great walking/biking routes, water activities, golf, fishing, exploring picturesque villages or just relax by the lake.*

*Try your hand at water skiing/boarding on Spring Lake or just watch! Use your own equipment on the Outdoor Centre's lake opposite*

A warm and welcoming lodge, 57 Spring Lake has been refurbished in a contemporary style and equipped to a very high standard throughout. The lodge can comfortably accommodate 6 adults plus a young child in a cot. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway or a change of scene with family or friends; a peaceful escape or a chance to try out a new activity; a relaxing lakeside retreat or a base to explore all that the Cotswolds has to offer, this is the place to be!

The Waterpark offers a very dog friendly environment and we welcome well behaved pets. Please enquire prior to booking if you will be bringing more than one pet.

57 Spring Lake:

The lodge has a modern kitchen off the lounge/dining area fully fitted with good quality appliances including a dishwasher, double oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge and freezer and washing machine. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable self-catering holiday.

The large open plan lounge/diner has two sets of double doors leading onto a lovely gated private deck with steps leading down to the water’s edge. Both inside and outside living areas comfortably accommodate six adults including a charcoal BBQ and plenty of outdoor furniture for alfresco eating.

The lodge has free internet, a flat screen 39" TV with FreeSat and a DVD player plus a selection of books, games and DVDs.

The under-stairs cupboard is useful for stowing travel bags and suitcases out of your way during your stay.

The lodge has a lovely downstairs shower room with wc and hand basin as well as a refurbished upstairs bathroom with electric shower over, wc and hand basin.

The large master bedroom has a superbly comfortable Hypnos kingsize bed and full length windows make the most of the stunning views over Spring Lake. There is a fitted wardrobe, plenty of storage drawers, a large airing cupboard and ample space for a travel cot if needed. Please let us know when booking if you wish to use the travel cot.

The double bedroom, with some views over one of the many sailing lakes, has a comfortable 4’6” double bed. There is limited walking space around the bed but plenty of storage drawer space plus a hanging rail.

The twin bedroom, also with some views over the sailing lake has a comfortable full size single bed with another 3’ single stored underneath which pulls out to the same height. The room is versatile and can be set up as a large single or cosy twin or double bedroom (walking space is limited when both beds are set up). A bedside drawer unit, a unique corner cupboard and hanging rail make good use of the storage space available.

Children are warmly welcomed to our lodge with stair gates at the top and bottom of the stairs. There is a high chair with protective floor mat, travel cot (for which you will need to provide your own mattress/bedding) and a changing mat all available free of charge. The lake side deck is securely gated and you will find some extra child friendly touches such as children’s cutlery, dishes, books and games.

The lodge is set in well-tended communal gardens and has its own grassed area around the house and down to the waters’ edge where you can also enjoy a spot of fishing.

57 Spring Lake has one parking space (unallocated) opposite and additional parking is available on a first come basis.

Bed linen, tea towels and towels for indoor use are provided and an end of stay clean is included in the price you pay.

Pets:

We understand how hard it is to leave those canine friends behind when grabbing short breaks away in the country and so we are pleased to welcome you with your pet. The lodge is perfectly located for dog owners with plenty of pathways and open countryside right on the doorstep. The Cotswolds offer a very dog friendly environment, ideal for enjoying quality time with all the family without having to leave your pet at home.

Please note, however, that the lodge is semi-detached and, therefore, would not be suitable if it is likely that your dog’s barking may disturb the neighbours. Should this become a problem during your stay we do have to reserve the right to ask you to remove your dog for the remainder of your stay. Please also be aware that pets are strictly not permitted upstairs. If your pet needs to be with you at night I am afraid our lodge will not be suitable for you to book.

Our lodge provides a secure deck area to keep your pet safe; a stair gate which must be kept closed at all times; dedicated dog throws for the sofa and an outside tap/hose to clean off after those great walks.

Our lodge is furnished to a high standard and our primary aim is to provide good quality, comfortable accommodation for all of our guests. In order to achieve this we ask any guests bringing pets to use the throws provided to protect the furnishings in the lounge area.

We also ask that you avoid leaving your dog in the lodge alone unless using a dog cage and you are confident the dog will remain quiet and settled.

A reminder that pets are strictly not allowed upstairs and the bottom stair gate must be kept closed at all times. Please be aware that failure to comply with this particular house rule may result in your security deposit not being returned to you.

Changeovers:

Changeover days are flexible and the minimum booking is normally 2 nights although may be longer during high season periods.

Arrival time is after 4.00pm and departure time by 11.00am (unless agreed otherwise with the owner). We are happy to arrange an earlier check in or later check out, usually, at no extra charge, dependent on other guest bookings.

Access is via a key safe, so it does not matter if you are arriving late at night

A £350 refundable security deposit is required with each booking.

Sorry, no stag or hen groups are permitted on Spring Lake.

Electric heating is included in the rental price.

A small quantity of initial consumables is provided (eg. coffee, tea, milk, sugar, soap, toilet rolls, cleaning products) for when you arrive. However please note these are not intended to last the length of your stay.

No smoking is permitted in the lodge or on the decks.

Accessibility:

Please note there are 4 steps up to the lodge entrance at the front and likewise to the deck at the back plus stairs inside to the first floor. These may present difficulties for guests with limited mobility.

The smoke detectors operate on sound only and those guests with serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm and could be at risk.

Please also note the lake’s edge is unfenced and is very close to the lodge. Whilst the deck is securely gated, young children and vulnerable pets must be supervised at all times beyond the deck to ensure they remain safe.

How to get there:

By car (recommended):

From M4 or the South - Leave the M4 at Junction 15 (Swindon) and head North on the A419 for about 14 miles. Take the B4696 signposted Ashton Keynes / South Cerney / Cerney wick. Take the first left at the roundabout onto the Spine Road East. Follow this for just over half a mile, passing Isis / Windrush Lakes on your right and the De Vere Hotel on your left. After passing Summer Lake on your left, take the next right (Station Road), signposted for South Cerney and the Lakeside Brasserie. Take the first left into Spring Lake turning right when through the gates. Follow the road around and 57 Spring Lake is shortly after you pass the slipway.

From the M5 or North – Leave the M5 southbound at junction 11A onto the A417. Take the third exit at the roundabout after a few miles continuing on the A417. Stay on the A417 / A419 for 15 miles passing Cirencester. Leave the A419 following signs for South Cerney and the Cotswold Water Park. Head right over the flyover and straight on at the second roundabout following signs for the Watermark and Cotswold Water Park. Follow the road (Spine Road East) as above.

Getting around:

A car or bicycles and walking are recommended to explore this beautiful area but there are also plenty of public transport links:

Airports: Bristol is closest at 45 miles but Birmingham at 78 miles has good train services to Kemble. Alternatively all the London airports are approximately 90-100 miles away with good rail links to Kemble or Swindon.

Railway: Kemble: 4 miles (approximately £12 one-way taxi fare), Swindon: 11 miles (with good value station based taxis available for around £18 one-way)
Good
Bus: The number 51 stage coach bus usually operates hourly between Swindon and Cheltenham, stopping at Cricklade and Cirencester as well as South Cerney village and many other villages enroute. Fares are very inexpensive and bus stops are convenient.

Beautiful lodge in amazing location.

We were a family ranging from age 12- 87 and a little dog and all had a fantastic break in this lodge. Would highly recommend it to all. The lodge is beautifully furnished and the location was fantastic - right on the edge of the lake. Wendy, the owner was extremely helpful and easy to contact throughout our stay.

Beautiful fully equipped dog friendly lodge

We had a two night stay at this beautiful lodge in February. It was far too short. The lodge itself is fully equipped and faces the water. The view from the living room and master bedroom is breathtaking. We took our dog with us and it was just perfect for him too. The owner could not be more accommodating.

Great Location and super functional house

We spent 2 weeks in August, which gave us enough time to get to know the amazing places the Cotswolds has to offer and enjoy a lovely house by the lake. The house is super functional and clean, with a nice terrace over the lake with enough space to have a nice BBQ outside. Wendy's massive collection of DVDs made our family nights magic watching movies the "old school" way.

N.Z. and London family met for a wonderful weekend together.

A very well equipped lodge. It would have been nice to have a fan, (my grandson wouldn't agree to be my Punka Wallah!) but then a heatwave doesn't happen every summer in England! Couldn't find any salad servers, but that's a very small niggle, and generally the kitchen was exceptionally well equipped. It was delightful to watch the activity on the lake. When the water skiers, wake boarders and "Big Biscuit" riders had finished there was the swan family to watch gliding past. There were many activities in the area, and we would definitely stay again, given the opportunity. Good for a wide range of ages, no-one should be bored staying in this lovely area. Barclay Family.

Stunning location house was perfect in every way! Could not ask for more!

We were a family of 6 from Wales celebrating our daughters 30 Birthday and it was amazing! The house and location was perfect for our family celebration the pictures do not do it justice! The home was very spacious, well maintained throughout with good quality furnishings etc. The master bedroom had an amazing view from the bed! The room itself was spacious well furnished and the bed was very comfy. All rooms were comfortable with plenty of space for 6 adults. The location was perfect a few minutes from the restaurant which served good food with great hospitality. The cherry on the cake was the outside decking area! Perfect to enjoy the lakeside view and watch the birds. We were only a short drive to the Cotswolds villages so the location was perfect. This place is a gem we all loved it and will definitely be back soon! Thank you for sharing your home with us Wendy we loved it and you were the perfect host to deal with. A 5 star service in all. The house is a 2 room 1 bathroom converted into 3 bedroom , and downstairs cloak room & small shower

Really suited for 2 adult couples , as there is no room to put any suitcases ( 2nd room split into 3rd bedroom) similarly the downstairs cloak room has a small shower cubical added . The sitting room is large enough and kitchen adequate .

Ideal base for exploring the Cotswolds

Functional property in a great location, few minutes drive from lots to do, several great pubs all a short taxi ride away - good walks and watersports on your doorstep. Lots of friendly ducks and swans and a lovely outside area to kick back and relax. Clean and fully equiped, as you would expect from a family type rental home. We stayed here as a family of 5 adults and had an action packed week - Clay Shooting at Ian Coley Sporting, Hot Air Balloon over Bath, Water Skiing on this lake, Kayaking on the lake over the road, bird handling at Cotswolds Falconry, lots of animal fun at Adam Hensons Cotswold Farm Park (feeding piglets and lambs!) and some quaint trips to Bilbury, Burton on the Water, Moreton In Mash. Some fantastic pubs about too - check out Masons Arms Meysey Hampton, The WheatCheif in Oaksey and the Bakers Arms in Somerford Keynes... or walk up to South Cerny for 3 decent pubs (a 15 minute flat walk) There is also the watersports centre on site that does all day food and bar. ;We would revisit, but probably not for a few years as we feel after a busy (fun) week we have completed it.... (Oh and we had a fair bit of heavy showers between sunshine but that doesnt stop the country side from being awesome!)

Clean and comfortable in nice location

We had a great holiday enjoying our stay Only niggle was the loose toilet seat and it took us a couple of days to realise the router was not plugged in! Close to Brassiere with good food but poor service and long delays between ordering and the meal arriving Even told it was a sports café. Preferred the Old George in South Cerney.

Super short break

A comfortable stay in a super spot. Everything you need (including very comfy beds) with beautiful views included! Swans visited while we had coffee on the balcony and then we could watch water-skiers and boats too. Walked along lake-side to nearby village and in the other direction to play-park. Used this lovely house as a base to visit Bourton-on-the-Water, Chedworth Roman Villa and Cheltenham as well as Cadbury World. Thank you for making us so welcome.

About the host

Hosted by Wendy Smith

Host profile image
Our family has spent many years travelling the world visiting friends and family and enjoying new destinations. In 2003 we unexpectedly fell in love with Ronda in Spain and bought a house in the countryside outside this wonderful town. Since then Mike and I have divided our time between Ronda and the UK, exploring many other lovely parts of Europe but never finding anywhere which matched how we feel about Ronda until we found Spring Lake.
I spent a few years living in the Cotswolds as a young child and so when a national newspaper ran an article on the development of the Cotswold lakes near Cirencester in the '90s it caught my eye. I remember thinking then how lovely it would be to live in a lodge house overlooking a lake in the beautiful Cotswolds countryside, never once dreaming that one day we would!
Changing family and work circumstances gave us the opportunity to relocate our UK base to the Cotswolds this year and we feel incredibly lucky to now be the proud owners of 57 Spring Lake lodge. We can honestly say that we have enjoyed every minute of our time at Spring Lake and cannot wait to return soon.

Why they chose this property

In the current uncertain times we all find ourselves in dealing with Covid 19 we completely understand the need to feel confident about where you and your family stay. We are working closely with our cleaning team to provide an enhanced cleaning system as well as allowing plenty of time between bookings for the lodge to be prepared safely for the each group of guests.

We are also doing our best to provide guests with as much flexibility as we can where changes to bookings are needed. We continue to be committed to enhancing our standard cancellation policy by refunding 100% of booking payments (excluding Home Away fees) whenever we can re-book the dates that have been cancelled.

57 Spring Lake is a beautifully refurbished New England style lodge in the Cotswold Water Park near Cirencester. We have drawn on our many experiences of staying in self catering homes in the UK and abroad to create a welcoming, stylish lodge, fully equipped for a self catering stay whether just for a few days or for a week or more.

The lodge can comfortably accommodate 6 adults plus a young child in a cot and includes child friendly touches to help the parents relax and enjoy their stay too.

Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway or a break away with family or friends; a peaceful escape or a chance to try out a new activity; a relaxing lakeside retreat or a base to explore all that the Cotswolds has to offer, this lodge is the place to be!

What makes this property unique

The lake views are stunning throughout the lodge allowing you to soak up the tranquility and wildlife in the chillier months or enjoy the buzz and excitement of watching or taking part in the water sports in the spring and summer.

In our opinion 57 Spring Lake offers the best of all worlds: a warm and cosy place to stay in or come back to when the weather is chilly and a fabulous private south facing deck to enjoy when the weather is warmer. Set back a little from the lodges either side of it, 57 Spring Lake, benefits from a sheltered deck which is a real sun trap even on cooler days.
