Mountain biking Monchique

Lovely villa with character. Large shared living space. Rooms large - twin on ground floor 2 en suite rooms one almost a mezzanine and one accessed through a separate door outside the building. We didn’t try the sauna or pool as it was February. Kitchen has everything to cater for a large group with a big dining table.Log burner was fantastic.Great location halfway up the valley side above Monchique.

Just wonderful, Pascal and his wife were charming, the house is wonderfully quiet and the pool and sauna blissful.

Fantastic

Lovely property, well situated just outside Montchique. Very well appointed and comfortable. Delightful and helpful hosts. The only downside is that the third bedroom is in a tiny room with two single beds. Not only claustrophobic and would be intolerable, given it has not a/c, in summer temperatures.

Excellent villa, holiday of a lifetime

Excellent property, great for romantic getaways as has completely separate bedroom for a couple while plenty of room for a family (or two) in the main house. Lovely views and very close to supermarkets and shopping 10/10

Really lovely stay

Pascal's villa is a great place to spend a week. There was space for everyone and a really nice sheltered place to spend evenings outside while the kids were in bed. One of the double bedrooms is accessed from a door outside the house so worth considering for families, but it didn't bother us - in fact we had more peace and quiet for it! The pool is amazing - huge and deep enough for diving. All in all we had a lovely time. Thank you!

A perfect holiday

A great place to stay, lovely location in the mountains and a amazing villa with everything you needed. Great pool and house surrounded by nature. The host were very helpful and friendly. The local town Monchique was very nice with a few good restaurants our favourite was Velochique. We went when there was a festival on which was great to see all the locals out. The town also had a great Lido for the kids costing 1Euro each. Food and drink was also very cheep. The villa was a perfect place to explore the rest of the algarve. A big thank you, we miss it already

Wonderful stay in Monchique

My wife and I had a wonderful stay in Monchique. Pascal and Eulália were both lovely and very helpful. The villa has everything you’d want. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the pool is a real blessing after a hot day exploring. Several nice restaurants within walking distance, the town is nice to explore with some nice bars, and the town festival on our last night was great fun. It wouldn’t be suitable for those with mobility issues due to the steps, but for everyone else, it’s great! Thank you for having us!

Lovely break and villa

Lovely villa with magnificent pool (deep) not ideal for younger children but great for swimming. Sauna added bonus and rooms tastefully decorated. Pascal and Eulalia hosted very discreetly but where there when needed. Thanks all for a wonderful visit. Restaurant at top of garden excellent, try the wild boar local delicacy.

Mountain retreat

Lovely villa in a very tranquil area of Monchique with wonderful views. Fabulous heated pool with sun loungers and shaded sitting area. Pretty garden to explore with added bonus of a sauna. The villa is very well equipped with everything you need to self cater if you wish, but there are also restaurants within walking distance. Thank you to Pascal (the owner) and Eulalia (manager) for your lovely welcome and help during our holiday. Both Phil & I highly recommend your lovely villa.

Lovely villa in beautiful gardens with amazing views

Stunning views, beautiful pool (heated and open in February) and well-equipped villa. Relaxing, homey feel to the villa (rather than the showhome feel you often get) and cosy with the fireplace in the living room. The sauna was a nice extra. We did the walk down to and up from the village centre quite a lot and it was fine for us averagely fit adults (aged 23-61), took 15-20mins each way. Location is fantastic - distant view to the sea from the villa, even better views from the top of the mountains (Foia and Picota). We visited Sagres and Praia da Rocha on the coast, and managed a couple of dips in the sea (not cold compared to the UK sea). We loved getting all the fresh citrus fruit from the garden.

Short summer stay

My wife and I arranged to stay for two night but with a early check in on the first day. So we had 2.5 glorious days in the property. We spent most of that time in or by the pool and around the bbq but loved it!! Would go back with friends and there is plenty of room

Idyllic private getaway in the mountains

A beautiful property, very well equipped and an absolute tranquil setting with everything you could need within a 5 minute drive. Very private and remote off the tourist track a slice of heaven. Local restaurants are excellent too.

Fabulous villa in Monchique

The villa was all we had hoped for. A splendid location slightly away from it all but not too far from local amenities with a wonderful restaurant at the entrance to the villa. The villa it self had a rustic charm set in a huge plot with olive and fruit trees giving total privacy. We loved sitting in the veranda looking at the views across Monchique catching the early morning sun as it rose above the hills. With the large private swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi tv, wifi, well kitted kitchen and games there was always plenty to do and plenty of places just to relax. The villa itself is a short drive or a 20 minute walk to the town of Monchique which has local shops, cafes and a supermarket. Further afield the West coast of the Algarve is within an hours drive which suited us better than the South coast as it was so much quieter with lovely surfing beaches. Pascal is the most friendly and helpful of hosts and he lives in a property just to the front of the villa. A big thanks to Pascal for letting us stay in this wonderful villa and to his house keeper Eulalia for her recommendation of a mechanic in Monchique to repair our car when it needed new wheel bearings.

Lovely villa in a great location

We had a great stay in this lovely villa, despite some unusally poor weather during our week in Portugal. The host and his property manager Eulalia are very nice and easy to deal with, and the villa itself was perfect for our needs, being well located for exploring the west Algarve area. We especially enjoyed the sun room whatever the weather, and the heated pool and views across the valley when clear were fantastic. The lovely local town is a short drive away and there is a great restaurant walkable at the end of the drive with another one a short walk away too. It is another short drive to the top of Foia mountain, which has a nice walk through nature to the top, and it is about 30 mins drive in a southerly or westerly direction to the coast. We particularly recommend visiting Praia da Rocha, Lagos and Sagres. All in all, we can highly recommend this property.

Amazing Monchique Retreat

We had a very enjoyable stay at the lovely villa. The pictures really don't do justice to the size or ambiance of the place. The welcome and villa tour was warm and helpful and Eulalia also gave us insights to the nearby town of Monchique. The villa has everything you will need including a fully functional kitchen, with lots of crockery, pans and utensils. There are plenty of different areas inside and outside to eat, enjoy a drink and chill out while taking in the great views of the surrounding area. The grounds are extensive and full of different flora and fauna including nice fruit trees and the property is adjoined by good local restaurants at the top of the drive and bottom of the garden path that leads directly to the road. We had a lovely time with our friends staying here and we hope to come back soon.

Monchique Getaway

Loved the laidback position of the villa. Great views and relaxing. Outside steps need handrail and description should make it clear that one of the bedrooms has separate access and no internal link to rest of prooerty- maybe an issue for families with younger children.

6 ladies on tour!

We enjoyed a restful stay in this lovely villa which is positioned approximately 10 minutes drive from Monchique town. We enjoyed the sun room which was a boon on the cooler windy evenings when we could eat indoors but still enjoy the views. There are a considerable number of steps to negotiate leading down to the main entrance which may not be safe for anyone with mobility issues as there is no handrail for support and outside lighting is limited. The grounds are terraced and extensive and have clearly been much loved in the past. The pool was a delight as the temperature crept up…... we rigged together a 3rd umbrella to provide much needed shade. There are several restaurants a few minutes drive away and one walkable at the top of the drive, all of which provided good authentic food. It is worth checking which ones are open on a given night. The local supermarket has an excellent fish counter and we thoroughly enjoyed the efficient BBQ at the villa. Many thanks to Eulalia for organising our request for single beds.

A lovely stay.

A stunning location and great house. Lots of space and areas to relax. The outdoor bedroom was super for the grandparents to get some peace! A great pool but deep with no shallow end. The appliances in the house could do with updating, for example, the toaster didn't workabd the garden furniture was a little rickety. However, this did not detract from a lovely week! Would definitely recommend and would love to return some time.

Fantastic!

We had a great week at this beautiful property in an amazing setting! Eulalia, the villa manager was very friendly, helpful and informative. The villa is so well stocked it is like home from home- huge garden with lots of areas to explore! Would recommend the near by restaurant O Luar foia and also a drive to the top of Foai. Beautiful scenery! Would highly recommend!

Perfect place to explore the Algarve

A great place to stay for anyone wanting to visit the Algarve away from the busy sea side towns. Having visited as much as possible West of Faro from this villa we are so glad we chose it as our base. The green mountains that surround make it one of the most picturesque places around. It is within easy walking distance to the town of Monchique and even closer to four restaurants. The villa had a great terrace which was the perfect place to bbq and sit as evening fell, listening to the wildlife. The pool is surrounded by trees and plants with views into the valley and is a relaxing place to spend the days. The villa and grounds are starting to look a little tired in places but this really doesn't take away from all that it offers. Eulália the villa manager could not have been more helpful. From meeting us and running through the villa and grounds to being on hand whenever needed she was incredibly responsive and could not have done more.

Relaxing venue with great views away from the hustle and bustle of the Algarve beaches.

A villa with great views. Everything there you would need for a really comfortable stay; just outside Monchique. An extra bonus of good restaurants within walking distance. A real pleasure to pick oranges and lemons from the garden. Breakfast in the conservatory with the sun coming up over Picota was very special. A lovely warm welcome from the property manager too. Ideal for those who don’t want the hustle and bustle of the Algarve beaches. Property owner was very friendly and determined to make sure we had everything we needed.

Very pleasant holiday in this large and comfortable villa.

We had such a lovely stay in this villa at the end of May. Pascal and Marie were so friendly and welcoming to us all when we arrived, kindly staying up late to show us all around the house. The house is great - very roomy with all necessary amenities. The double bedroom separate to the house was perfect as we had Grandma with us. This enabled her to have a bit of peace whenever she needed a break from the boys! The pool was fantastic and we managed to make a fair bit of use of it despite the weather not being ideal. Our kids spent many hours exploring the garden. The jacuzzi and sauna were a great bonus. We have very happy memories of our stay in Monchique and hope to return again. Thank you Pascal and Marie! x

Get away from it all

Peaceful, private, cozy, comfortable and managed by the delightful Pascal and Marie. The booking process was remarkably easy and straight forward, and Pascal is very responsive to emails. Having been to Monchique previously, we were looking forward to the visit and we were not disappointed. This is by far one of the best equipped villa's I've ever stayed in! The pool is lovely and the covered patios provide welcome respite from the sun at lunchtime and/or dinner. We will go back again; I highly recommend this place.
