About this property

High quality lodge, well placed for exploring all corners of Devon & Cornwall

BRAMBLES - a unique opportunity to stay in one of three really cosy log cabins at Highampton which lies between Hatherleigh and Holsworthy. Our lodges are constructed from 8" pine logs and are exceptionally warm and welcoming. We offer clean, comfortable accommodation that has views which are absolutely fantastic - right across miles of beautiful Devon countryside to Dartmoor in the distance.

South facing with undercover patio, Brambles has it's own private track. Parking is on your own driveway alongside your lodge and there's a garden area for your picnics or for the children to play in. Our lodges are fully furnished for up to four people, and are centrally placed for both the north and south coasts of Devon and for the North Cornwall Coast - Widemouth Bay and Bude being particular favourites.
Holiday for 7/14 nights or take a short break - our lodges take 4 people comfortably in a main bedroom (new mattress 2022) and two twins in the second bedroom.

Please note the lodges and the site are not really suitable for very young children so no-one under the age of 4 please unless by prior agreement.

The recently updated kitchen has a dishwasher, tall fridge/freezer, electric oven with ceramic hob and a microwave and in the lounge there's a large smart TV and recently upgraded superfast Wi-Fi throughout. The recently renovated shower room has an electric shower and the water is mains, so no problem with pressure! There are heaters in all rooms and a log/coal burner in the living area.
The veranda provides useful additional space and, if you have a dog, you can close the gate and enjoy outdoor dining in the knowledge that your dog is secure.
Superfast Wi-Fi, toy box with games for young children and a table-tennis table, badminton set and swing-ball with equipment. The village of Hatherleigh is about 4 miles away with a good selection of cafes and shops. There's also a couple of pubs, supermarket + skatepark.

The lodges face south towards Dartmoor - with absolutely fantastic views. See our website for more photographs and details.

Highampton is a small village situated in Ruby country with it’s fantastic selection of trails for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The village of Hatherleigh is about 4 miles away and has a good selection of cafes and shops. There’s also pubs, supermarket and a new skatepark. The bustling town of Okehampton is a further 7 miles away. In the opposite direction about 7 miles away lies the pretty market town of Holsworthy with the beautiful beaches of Bude a further 9 miles away.

We are centrally placed for all parts of Devon and Cornwall. The area is one of peace and tranquility, so if it's a quiet base you want for your holiday, then Dartmoor View Lodges is the place to be.

Highampton is a small village with a pub, village hall, school and visiting post-office.

Hatherleigh and Holsworthy are larger and have all the amenities you need. Our site is quiet and tranquil and wildlife is plentiful. In the early morning it is quite possible that you will see deer grazing and there are usually a lot of rabbits around and foxes pay the occasional visit. Birds thrive and we regularly see woodpeckers, tree creepers, buzzards and herons. Butterflies are also attracted by the many wild flowers that emerge in the spring and bats are plentiful at dusk.

We're also really lucky to have incredibly black night skies due to very little light pollution.

A perfect secluded, picturesque retreat!

We had the most restful, comfortable week staying in the lodge. It was in the ideal location and is very convenient to visit lots of sites in Devon and Cornwall. We loved it and would definitely return. Also the Wi-Fi is important for us to access for work and it was terrific here!

Great autumn break

Really cozy and comfy log cabin. Andrew and Sally were the perfect - unobtrusive but always there to ensure we had everything for a comfortable and relaxing stay. We were unfortunate with the weather but did manage to get a couple of sunny days when the natural beauty of this part of Devon really came out. Would love to go again.

Perfect Hideaway with Stunning Views

The lodge was very comfortable and private, with a well stocked kitchen and facilities to eat inside or out, we couldn't ask for more. The views from every aspect of the lodge are dazzling. The owners Andrew and Sally we're on hand and very helpful. We would also recommend venturing into Bude (30 minutes by car), it is a beautiful seaside resort with a soft sandy beach and a pleasant walk along the canal. We definitely plan to return.

Luxurious log cabin, surrounded by beautiful countryside and perfect for families.

We were greeted on arrival by Andrew and Sally who were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The log cabin was beautifully furnished, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and we were provided with everything we needed for our two young children. There was plenty of room in the twin bedroom for a travel cot. The covered veranda was perfect for barbecues in the evening and the views out across to the moors were stunning. It was a very relaxing stay and we enjoyed plenty of trips to the beaches in north Cornwall (Bude, Padstow and Tintagel).

Beautiful Log Cabin with A View To Match.

This is a extremely well looked after lodge ,with everything that's supplied for your use very good quality ,the only thing I missed (others maybe would'nt ) was a whisk for my Husbands medical drinks but that's something I would normally take so my fault . Our full praise to Sally & Andrew , for the Hospitality & we shall be seeing you again on our next break away hopefully in 2023 . Pat.Ivor & Lisa Plymouth .

Wonderful break

We stayed in Brambles for a week in September (couple & a dog). The log cabin is great, beautifully furnished & extremely well equipped. The verandah was really good for the evenings & the views out across rolling countryside & the moors beyond are stunning. Andrew & Sally were very friendly & helpful but not intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble. We used the cabin as a base to explore Devon. We visited both North and South coasts and Dartmoor & had some fabulous walks, cream teas & pub meals during our week. Hope to return sometime soon.

Fantastic Position. Wonderful Views.

The Lodge was wonderfully placed with fantastic views towards Dartmoor. The accommodation was clean and extremely well equipped. Andrew and Sally went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Great for walking the dog direct from the property or a short drive onto Dartmoor or out to the beaches at Bude.

Wonderful place to Stay

We stayed in Mid July for one week. 2 adults and 2 children. Hosts Sally & Andrew were fantastic and made us very welcome. The log cabins are wonderful to stay in, very comfortable, with a recently renovated fully kitted out kitchen, and bathroom with modern shower. The Lodges and grounds are very well maintained, the views over Dartmoor are spectacular. There are lots of attractions nearby for all ages, plus the Coast - Bude is under 30 minutes drive. The perfect base to explore North Devon and Cornwall. We can't wait to go back!

5 star lodges in beautiful surroundings.

My wife and I fancied a quiet weekend away and saw these lodges advertised and thought they sounded just the thing so made a last minute online booking. The owners, who it turned out are relatively new, replied very quickly and everything was sorted in no time. When we arrived they greeted us warmly and were very friendly. The lodge itself was very clean and well fitted out with all quality equipment right down to the sheets and towels. A particular feature we liked was the log fire, lovely and cosy in the evenings. We could also sit on the veranda and enjoy stunning views towards Dartmoor. We wanted a nice relaxing weekend and that's exactly what we got. We would thoroughly recommend this site to anyone wanting the same.

Relocated in 2015 from Huddersfield in West Yorkshire where we ran a small business, we chose this fantastic location for the perfect home for us and our family plus it gives us the opportunity to provide fabulous self catering holidays.

Why they chose this property

We have 3 genuine timber lodges to choose from - Bluebells, Buttercups or Brambles. Providing luxury self-catering, the lodges are well equipped and have a 4 star rating by our partner agent which guarantees good quality fittings and bedding. The lodges are regularly updated and maintained and we have recently improved the site with extensive planting and fencing. There are plenty of varied walks a short drive away and we are lucky to have Garlands Trekking and Horse Riding Centre a couple of miles down the road. Opposite our site is the popular Arms of Old archery centre.

What makes this property unique

The location is the definition of peaceful and if you like birds and wildlife it really is perfect. We also get incredibly black nights as there is very little light pollution. It's also very well placed to explore Devon and Cornwall. Exeter is about 50 minutes away, Bude about 30 minutes. The site is surrounded by fields through which you can access a section of the Ruby Way which is popular with dog-walkers, cyclists and horse-riders.
The Warhouse Valley Country Farm Park is on our doorstep and places such as The Milky Way, the Big Sheep, Crealys and the Eden Project are all within a short drive.
The views from the lodges are spectacular and are dominated by the beauty of Dartmoor.
