As host for a family holiday for 8 adults, 2 children, plus 2 dogs, I was the first to navigate my way down the narrow lanes full of suicidal pheasants. The further I went the more nervous I became that I might be confronted by a version of Cold Comfort Farm, with ‘something nasty in the woodshed’. However, as Pitt Farm came into view, my fears were blown away and my exploration of the house brought delightful surprises as each door was opened. The interior of Pitt Farm has been most lovingly created by a master craftsman, whom we had the pleasure to meet. His account of the renovation just added to our appreciation of every aspect of the house, from the beautiful doors to the wooden ‘chandeliers’ in the grand lounge with minstrels gallery. A sheer delight! On a practical level, the house was beautifully warm, and for the pyromaniacs amongst us, the biggest wood burner ever and ample supply of logs for additional heat. Our one regret was that none of us were musical enough to take advantage of the baby grand piano...! Yes, the house exceeds expectations on every level. Everything is of the best quality, bed linen, crockery, furnishings. So unexpected in a holiday rental. The gardens and location of the house were a safe space for the dogs, who were so outnumbered by the pheasants that they soon gave up giving chase. The children loved the stream and ponds and (under instruction from Dad) learnt how to divert and release the water flow between ponds. With dog walkers, mountain bikers and runners amongst the party, the location was ideal and family trips to Minehead, Porlock, Porlock Weir, Lynton and Lynmouth provided entertainment for all. A lovely family reunion in an ideal house and spot. I also have to say that dealing with Tim was straightforward and helpful and I was grateful for the prompt return of my deposit within a week of returning home. Thank you so much!
