Lovely farmhouse but.....

Not a great start to the stay as despite sending messages to the host that we were on our way with an eta we were given no contact details of where to collect the keys to the property. Eventually after a 2 hour wait outside the property and an over an hour phone call to vrbo (which cost a load) who did book us hotel rooms as a last resort as they couldnt contact anyone either we got a phone call from the host when we were on our way to the hotel that the house manager was now at the property to let us in. I am not sure if the communication issue was caused by being in a low signal area but was very frustrating. The property itself is in a very quiet village with friendly neighbours and within easy reach of all lager towns and attractions but would recommend having a car. The house is very large and with plenty of utensils, books, cds, towels etc and a lovely large pool in well maintained gardens. However as highlighted else where there is a serious dust issue in the ground floor bedroom where the walls are made of sandstone that are very crumbly and the dust is made worse when using the air con (av cost 2€ per night to cover the 3 bedrooms) or the fan. We had to clear dust daily from the bedside table but this did not distract us too much from having a lovely relaxing break.

Not to be missed

Not sure where to start! This holiday accommodation is by far the best I have experienced. The house has so much character and charm. The garden offers a wonderful pool area that allows you to relax in total comfort and seclusion. The kitchen is very well equipped and provides you with the choice to self cater when required. We would strongly advise that you utilise the air conditioning available in the bedrooms. Set it to the lowest temperature and shut all the doors windows to the room. We failed to do this on arrival and it took us 2 days to get the temperature down. August can be ridiculously hot ! Provisions can be acquired from Lora’s supermarket which is a straightforward 5 minute walk away. Don’t be put off by the shop’s narrow frontage. There is an excellent choice of fresh products and all those essential items. We were certainly able to get everything we wanted. Stock items changed daily and the price and quality offered great value. We stayed in the village of Munxar for 18 nights. We did not hire a car and we came away totally happy about our trip. Travel by public bus was very easy and inexpensive. Many popular tourist attractions can be visited by bus. Fares are low and the buses are modern and comfortable. It would be remiss of me not to mention the restaurant based in the village market square. Paulo’s was open from Wednesday to Sunday each week. It offers the best Pizza I have ever tasted. It also offered other meal options that proved to be great. Finally, I must mention Noel andToni. The former is the owner who provided excellent communication at all times. Toni is the local property manager, he was very helpful and always on hand if needed. When we arrived at the property the local supermarket was closed because it was a public holiday. Toni provided us with water and took us to Victoria ( the capital) so that we could find somewhere to get a meal. He also made taxi arrangements for our return to the UK. He is a very nice guy who certainly went the extra mile! The house was very clean with cleaners, pool cleaners and gardeners all visiting each week. I cannot fault this property and the holiday in any way.

There is still magic in the world.

Magical. I really don’t know where to begin. Noel is the loveliest man. We arrived and when the door opened, our jaw’s dropped. Noel’s home is spectacular. I have stayed in many places which are sort of ok, but decor is tired, facilities aren’t great but you still have a lovely time. Noel’s home is absolutely beautiful. Decor is classy, bathrooms are so modern, hot water, amazing kitchen - even down to the green dishes ( I want some), breathtaking architecture, air-con in every bedroom and I haven’t even started on the garden. Warm pool, bougenvillia, jasmin and butterflies - the outside is resplendent with greenery and beauty. We were left to our devices and we met Mario, the gardener who is possibly the nicest man I’ve met. We took a photo of him as I want to draw his lovely face. Great restaurants, lovely people and the most relaxed time. We wouldn’t actually change a thing and we thank you so much Noel for a perfect holiday xxxx

Beautiful farmhouse

We stayed in this gorgeous farmhouse for a week in August. From the moment I contacted the owner, Noel, regarding availability, until after we returned home, the level of service he provided was fantastic. He replied promptly to all emails and made the booking and payment process very easy and stress free. We were met on arrival by Toni, the caretaker, who showed us around the house and gave us a few tips on places to visit in Gozo. I would recommend hiring a car as buses didn't seem to run as frequently as in Malta and you wouldn't really be able to walk to the places of interest. Gozo is so small that nowhere was more than a 15-20 minute drive away. The house is located in the quiet village of Munxar and there is a little grocery shop just a few minutes walk away. Lidl is about a 5 minute drive away in Victoria. The farmhouse is very well maintained and there is enough space for 2 families to share. There are 2 large bedrooms upstairs, each with their own bathroom and 1 bedroom downstairs, again with its own bathroom. There is also an extra bathroom downstairs too. The pool is a great size and not at all overlooked and it was lovely to be able to have a refreshing swim in the August heat. The kids were sometimes already in at 9am! The garden is also beautifully maintained and the visiting cats were a bonus. Unfortunately the house doesn't have air-conditioning in all rooms. The main bedroom does, and we didn't realise this, but it can be used on paying a small supplement. However, during a heatwave when the temperature was very high even at night, (around 30 degrees), the fans and leaving all doors and windows open is just not enough to keep you cool. Overall, this is a wonderful place to stay and one which I would highly recommend for a holiday in Gozo.

What a gem!!

What a wonderful time we had staying in this beautiful farmhouse on Gozo. It was all we hoped for and more. The house itself was fab, bedrooms all ensuite and especially the main bedroom with its own sun terrace. The pool area with all its flowers and plants was to die for and so well maintained. We rang Marios car hire ( no. from Noel) before we went and they provided transfers to and from Luqa making it so easy and at a very reasonable cost and we hired a car through them as well which they dropped off and collected from the farmhouse, no paperwork or waiting around at the airport. You must go to Xlendi, what a beautiful place for an evening meal by the water, only 5 mins by car, we walked to it and got a cab back!! Gozo is beautiful, Ramla beach is a must for a swim. The salt pans were extraordinary, don't look for the Azure window , it had fallen a month before we arrived! The Citadel in Victoria was beautiful and go into as many churches as you have time for, they are amazing. Ladies must cover their shoulders as a mark of respect so bring a scarf or cardi to wear before you go in. We went to Valetta (Malta Capital) for a day and is also beautiful. St Johns Co Cathedral is breathtaking. Thank you Noel for your wonderful house and thanks to Toni and to Jo the lovely farmer who gave us a glimpse of how the Maltese farmers spend their days. What a treat. The Maltese people are wonderful and we were bowled over by the hospitality and friendliness. What a gem of a place. Hilary and family (Wales & Ireland)

Amazing luxury farmhouse..just perfect!

Stayed in this idyllic farmhouse for 6 days and simply loved every minute. The house had everything you could possibly need for an amazing , relaxing holiday. The pool was perfect..big, great temperature and a great way to cool down in July weather. The house is ideally located with supermarket and bus stop just a couple of mins walk. Great base to explore the amazing island of Gozo. I honestly can't praise it highly enough..photographs don't even do this house justice..it is even more beautiful in real life!! Jaw dropping from the minute you open the door. The owner , Noel, was extremely helpful and made booking a breeze! Thank you for everything. Neighbours especially Joe are lovely people and so friendly..Tony called on first day and offered lots of useful advice regarding places of interest and transport etc. Can't wait to go back next year x

Simply Perfect!!

We have just returned from our short stay in this wonderful big farmhouse/villa and would like to say a big “thank you” to the owner and all who made our stay so special. Everything was perfect and to be honest far exceeded our expectations. The bedrooms and ensuites/wet room are fabulous as is everything about this place. Of course Gozo, the resort of Xlendi and the summer weather are a great combination. On arrival Toni did a grand job in meeting, welcoming and advising us about the island. We are already planning to visit again. So until next time.... with very many thanks. K & K

Heavenly peace and quiet

The photos of the property do not do it justice - Tony met us with the keys and our jaws dropped as we went through the door, he was very helpful, showed us on the map places of interest, places to eat and local festivals. We met the gardener twice, nice friendly local chap. The owner Noel was very helpful, answering our many questions before we travelled. The house is amazing and very spacious, large well equipped kitchen, lots of bathrooms. We spent a lot of time around the pool, in the afternoon and also in the evenings with a glass of wine. There is a small supermarket in walking distance which has everything you could need. We hired a car at the airport, managed to negotiate the ferry to Gozo very easily. Malta looked very built up and over commercialised so we didn't bother visiting. Gozo is set back in time and unspoilt. We heard the horror stories about driving in Malta/Gozo but we needn't have worried it was fine. We found a beautiful beach - Ramla which was fairly quiet, just a few umbrellas scattered but not ten deep as seen driving through Malta. We spent a lot of time at Xlendi - what a beautiful bay, several restaurants for all tastes, try dives, boat hire, pedaloes, snorkelling, fabulous ice cream. Visitied Azures Window, lovely cove for swimming, snorkelling. The weather was fantastic - very hot. Even with the children with us, this was probably one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had and we will definitely go back again one day - hopefully to this house.

Lovely property

The villa was unique, we loved the quirky stairs, doorways etc.. We used Ubers while there and weren’t too far from many places. Bedrooms spacious, air conditioning a blessing. Cons: no information on rubbish collection etc. we had to ask the neighbours.. an information booklet would be handy Toaster wouldn’t work properly and had to be held down, couldn’t leave anything on counters as dust from wall covers the areas. Not a necessity but we have stayed in many villas and usually their is some condiments like salt available.. Would we stay there again, yes we would
