Stunning location

Villa Landi is situated in a stunning location.A traditional Tuscan house oozing with character and charm,we almost felt as if time had stood still from a bygone age,but we enjoyed all the modern conveniences at the same time.Best of both worlds and perfect for our taste. Mike was easily contactable and most helpful. It's a holiday we won't forget in a long long time. Thanks Mike for letting us share your lovely house.

Lovely house with a view

We had a great time in this special house in the mountains. The host was very helpfull and the house had everything we hoped. One small Point was the size of the pool. It was good for cooling doen but too small for swimming.

Family holiday

Lovely property near bagno di Lucca. Situated high on a hillside in a beautiful setting with breath taking views. A really authentic old villa with period furnishings. A nice garden and a small but very clean pool to cool off in. You definitely would benefit from a hire car. We visited Florence and Pisa - both an hour and a half drive and also Marinello for Ferrari - a 2 1/2 hour drive through the hills. We really had the most amazing stay and really enjoyed this stunning location.

Peace, quiet and tranquility. Friendly neighbourhood.

a very spacious villa with style and perhaps quite a bit of history. The garden and the pool is a hidden gem in the middle of the mountains. It was reasonably clean and everything utility works properly. Perhaps the wifi may need a bit of updating but this is not a business conference hotel so it helps to have no signal at some corners so people can chill and have an actual holiday. We did learn a bit about the Italian recycling system along the way.

A charming, authentic, Italian home.

Mike's property is completely charming and it has all the hallmarks of a loved family home. Everything that you will need is provided, including a variety of games for both adults and children. The photographs of the property do not do it justice, and the pool is much larger than appears in the photo. The kitchen is equipped with everything that a cook will need. The location is just perfect and the views from the house are just sensational. We shall definitely be booking this property again. Thank you Mike. Warmest regards, Paul

Just lovely

We had such a lovely time…beautiful old Italian river in small village. Spent lazy days by pool, visited medieval villages, caught train to Lucca, paddle boarding at canyon parc, local festivals and much more. House was perfect for famiky…cool and all essential facilities. Pool was perfect for cooling off during glorious weather. Mike was really helpful with clear communication…we couldn’t have asked for more. Journey up mountain was fine…hair pin bends but not scary……not a problem. Enjoyed by all.

Absolutely delightful property very reminiscent of ‘Mama Mia’

Michael- the owner could not have been more helpful and even emailed us during our stay with local events that we might be interested in. The village had a little shop and bar, where you could pre- order food and Bagni di Lucca was about 10 minutes away, with a range of very reasonable restaurants. The area is beautiful and a cyclist’s paradise- so do pack your Lycra if keen, as you can hire bikes locally. Although rural, the cities of Lucca, Bologna, Florence, Pisa and Siena were relatively accessible, with a good train service from Lucca. The Ferrari museum was also a real hit! Casa Lundy was spacious, spotlessly clean and steeped in family history! It was very reminiscent of ‘Mama Mia’ with a lovely rustic charm. The pool, although small was perfect for cooling off and drinking a chilled glass of wine amidst the vines that surrounded the house. Lots of shade and numerous eating places dependent on the heat and time of day. A lovely place to relax.

Villa Landi one of the most delightful Villas we have stayed in! Its traditional style and very clean and spacious living and bedroom areas make it perfect accommodation for five adult people. Built high up in the hills of San Cassiano, and a short distance from town of Bagni Di Lucca, we could not have wished for a more beautiful and tranquil holiday setting. In the mornings we awoke to the sound of goat bells ringing as the herd made its way up the mountainside. Then we would take breakfast on the fabulous veranda that traversed the length of the villa. As we ate we would watch the early morning display provided by the swifts and swallows as they danced and dived in a clear blue sky, and finally skimmed the surface of our private pool looking for their own breakfast! After a leisurely breakfast we would swim and relax in our large secluded and large private garden, or take a walk in the local area, taking in the daytime sights and sounds of San Cassiano became one of our favourite activities! Some days we took afternoon and evening trips to Pissa, or Lucca, and took in the atmosphere of the piazza whilst eating long lazy evening meals, and drinking copious amounts of beautiful Italian wine! On other trips we explored small villages high in the hills, were the buildings took on an almost cinematic and fairy tale quality On some evenings we would use the purpose built BBQ, and the garden, would take on yet another persona. We would catch the smell of wood smoke as it drifted lazily upward into the late evening sky, listen to the sound of children’s laugher, to families enjoying themselves, and watch the bats put on a late night acrobatic display. And through a combination of the ambient glow given off by both the under water lighting in the swimming pool, and the lights nestling in the cave shaped, and almost ‘cloister’ like outside eating areas, family meals were always joyous, and very atmospheric occasions! On other evenings after visiting the local ‘Penny Market fabulous, and very economical supermarket in Borgo a Mozzano) we would take it in turns to cook dinner in the beautiful kitchen, And whilst we cooked, with the large kitchen windows open, we could feel and smell the barmy summer night air, and as we sat down to eat I am sure we were wished Buon aappetito ‘! By an owl as it hooted on by outside And as I watch the gray clouds forming outside, and feel the temperature start to fall as summer turns into autumn I wish we were were back there doin

Our stay at Villa Landi!

We recently stayed at Villa Landi with family as my partner & I had chosen the beautiful location of Bagni di Lucca to get married. The villa is spacious and clean, set in beautiful surroundings with spectacular views! We couldn't of chosen a better place for our wedding! The size of the villa meant there was enough space for all 8 of us without feeling we were on top of each other. Mike the owner was incredibly helpful and all of this made our stay very special. Our wedding day was fantastic - we couldn't of asked for a more perfect day! The ceremony was at Circolo de forestieri in Bagni di Lucca followed by dinner at Santina's, the trattoria 5 minutes walk from the villa. The food at Santina's was wonderful and very reasonable and the views from the terrace are fantastic! We would highly recommend a stay at Villa Landi to others!

Friends get together

We stayed at this lovely old villa for a week in September 2012 for a friends get together and had a wonderful time. The journey up to the villa is quite beautiful as it passes beside the river and an amazing old bridge. It is very windy at times but a Tom Tom and an automatic car made it easy. The parking is a little below the house right next to a fig tree full of fruit. The picturesque village shop provided fresh pesto for our pasta and lovely Gorgonzola, and local honey to go with the figs. The house feels like an authentic Italian family home, its spacious and comfortable and cool in the heat of the day. The garden is a suntrap, enclosed and private but with a dining area shaded by vines The balcony was great for early morning coffee to watch the sun rising and the clouds drift up between the steep valleys and for an evening aperitif to watch the sun setting. On the one day we has rain and wind we tucked up with a big log fire, books, games and wine and this was voted as one of our favourite days. We had one overnight stay in Florence as we wanted to see the opera at the little St Marks English church on the Via Maggio. We drove to Florence and there was no problem parking close to one of the train stations one stop from the central station. We returned through Lucca, and went cycling along the top of the huge city walls and enjoyed the Sunday flea market. Barga was well worth a visit with spectacular views from the old walls and the little restaurant by the parking area. We would love to return to the villa and explore more of the area.

Great holiday

Fantastic house in a great location. All the information we got about the house and the area were accurate and all the arrangements were carried out on time and smoothly. The price was great value for money. there were 5 of us in the house but it would accomodate 8 very comfortably. there was bags of social space and the house was an oasis of coo lon hot days. The poolk wwas perfectly adequate for getting in to cool off and then laze around. We had a barbeque which worked very well. The village was old and had a great authentic lived in feel. A car is essential and you need to get used to driving windy roads. It is quite far away form larger towns so you need to be organised about shopping. The local shop however has everything you really need. You can't park all that near the house but it was easy to organise onself to shorten carries. The local area is interesting and has good walking and interesting plants and wildlife. It is a good centre for visiting other places such as Lucca, Barga, Florence and lots more. Bagni Di Lucca is interesting and the spa was a popular visit for my son and his girl lfriend. Barga in the evening was stunning. We booked for one week and wish it had been longer.

our return visit to Villa Landi

We enjoyed a lovely Easter break at Villa Landi with our grown up children (25 & 27yrs) and would highly recommend it. To be honest we were a little anxious about returning having had a fabulous break there nearly ten years ago there is always the worry that things would not be as we had remembered, we weren't disappointed. The villa is comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean with everything you need for a relaxing holiday as well as providing a great base for travel. We visited Lucca, Florence and the coast and had some fabulous meals. We arrived on Easter Saturday and because of the holiday period the owner, Mike, had kindly organised a hamper with provisions to keep us going in good style over the weekend. There is one bar/restaurant in San Cassiano and we had our Easter Sunday meal with the locals who made us very welcome. There were endless courses of delightful food. There are several good, well priced restaurants in Bagni de Lucca. The only thing I would say is that you do need a confident driver. I would definitely recommend Villa Landi for a holiday. I will certainly be going back, but won't be leaving it ten years!

Our Tuscan Dream

I stayed in the wonderful Villa Landi last June/July for 2 weeks with 6 adults and 3 children(Age group 2-40years old, We all fell in love with the area and the house. The pool area is beautiful, sunny all day or you could hide in the shade under in vines, I could have sat there for the 2 weeks. A car is a must have. The road up to the Villa is a bit tricky, after a few trips its fine thank goodness the road was always quiet. We used the trains quite a bit from Bagni di Lucca (station difficult to find) we travelled with ease to Florence,Pisa,Lucca, Verragio and Barga we also drove there in about 30 min. The house was emaculate, great kitchen everything you need and some. The view's from the balcony will stay with me for ever. The weather was hot with a lovely brezze. Mike the owner was great to deal and very informative. We would rent this Villa again, Loved it.

family holiday

i would highly recommend this property with its breathtaking scenery to anyone who enjoys away from it all locations with the advantage of great restaurants only ten minutes drive away.the property is extremely well equipped and very homely. The only disadvantage is the small pool, but, is fine for cooling off in the warm tuscan sunshine and have to say my small boy loved it as it had a shallow ledge he could play on.the garden is gorgeous with fabulous stone barbeque which we made good use off with lovely shaded outdoor dining opposite it.the local village of san cassiano is very friendly with basic needs catered for with a great butcher shop, best sausages ever!!. the local pizza shop however was very overpriced 10 euro per pizza to takeaway so beware.Bagni di lucca is the place to head for great food and reasonable shopping and for even better retail therapy lucca only 30 minutes drive. All and all i would highly recommend this property and its stunning location and can imagine that in the winter it would be a great ski location.

Very lovely authentic italian house

We had a very lovely vacation in the house. It was all you may want from a holidayhome. It was nice with the ventilation in the sleepingareas, and two functional bathrooms. We didn't use the livingroom or diningroom much as we spend most of our time outdoors. The communication before our stay was so easy and we didn't need to communicate during our stay. We absolutely loved the outdoors and the kittens in the village.
