Villa Landi one of the most delightful Villas we have stayed in! Its traditional style and very clean and spacious living and bedroom areas make it perfect accommodation for five adult people. Built high up in the hills of San Cassiano, and a short distance from town of Bagni Di Lucca, we could not have wished for a more beautiful and tranquil holiday setting. In the mornings we awoke to the sound of goat bells ringing as the herd made its way up the mountainside. Then we would take breakfast on the fabulous veranda that traversed the length of the villa. As we ate we would watch the early morning display provided by the swifts and swallows as they danced and dived in a clear blue sky, and finally skimmed the surface of our private pool looking for their own breakfast! After a leisurely breakfast we would swim and relax in our large secluded and large private garden, or take a walk in the local area, taking in the daytime sights and sounds of San Cassiano became one of our favourite activities! Some days we took afternoon and evening trips to Pissa, or Lucca, and took in the atmosphere of the piazza whilst eating long lazy evening meals, and drinking copious amounts of beautiful Italian wine! On other trips we explored small villages high in the hills, were the buildings took on an almost cinematic and fairy tale quality On some evenings we would use the purpose built BBQ, and the garden, would take on yet another persona. We would catch the smell of wood smoke as it drifted lazily upward into the late evening sky, listen to the sound of children’s laugher, to families enjoying themselves, and watch the bats put on a late night acrobatic display. And through a combination of the ambient glow given off by both the under water lighting in the swimming pool, and the lights nestling in the cave shaped, and almost ‘cloister’ like outside eating areas, family meals were always joyous, and very atmospheric occasions! On other evenings after visiting the local ‘Penny Market fabulous, and very economical supermarket in Borgo a Mozzano) we would take it in turns to cook dinner in the beautiful kitchen, And whilst we cooked, with the large kitchen windows open, we could feel and smell the barmy summer night air, and as we sat down to eat I am sure we were wished Buon aappetito ‘! By an owl as it hooted on by outside
And as I watch the gray clouds forming outside, and feel the temperature start to fall as summer turns into autumn I wish we were were back there doin
