The four of us enjoyed our visit to Casa Nel Paradiso immensely. The modern house is in a stunning hillside location with spectacular views to the coast, even from the swimming pool immediately in front of the living room and terrace. The house is superbly equipped, and was spotlessly clean and well-appointed. We wanted for nothing. We visited the adjacent Pizzeria Bellavista (invisible and inaudible from the house) twice - the food and service were excellent and the prices extremely modest. The local people were exceedingly friendly (we were often recognised out and about by locals - including the local school bus driver and a policeman), particularly the couple that ran the supermarket in Sfaranda (who kindly booked us a restaurant table and, later, provided free coffee too!!) and the owners of the excellent Trattoria Braco in the same village where we enjoyed a never-ending stream of anti-pasti dishes, pizza and wine, with charming and attentive service from our hosts. There was no menu or price list, but we paid a mere 85 Euros for 4 people, including several litres of good local wine! A bargain.
The nearest beach resort, at Capo D'Orlando (about 40 minutes drive), is beautiful with amazing views of the Aeolian Islands offshore. It's an upmarket town with a gorgeous promenade and a long, free beach. We also visited the nearbly Floresta, reputedly the highest village in Sicily, which is slightly more Alpine and provides excellent views of Mount Etna.
We cannot criticise Casa Nel Paradiso in any way and would thoroughly recommend it - however, we should point out that the drive up to the house (and indeed driving in Sicily) is not for the faint-hearted, it is very steep, narrow and twisting with precipitous drops. An automatic car is recommended, together with fully-comp insurance and every damage waiver you can get!!
