About this property

Villa With Private Pool In Mountain Valley Setting

Set in a beautiful south facing mountain valley, the villa is situated in the village of Fuilla du Bas and enjoys stunning views of Mount Canigou. With over 300 days of sunshine per year, this historic region has the best weather of Southern France.

Besides extensive year round outdoor pursuits, there is much to see and do locally, making this is a true 4 season holiday destination. The lovely market town of Prades, medieval fortified town of Villefranche de Conflent and the spa town of Vernet le Bains are all less than 10 minutes away. Further afield, the Mediterranean coast is 45 minutes distant. While in the winter a selection of ski resorts, including Pyrenees 2000, Les Angles and Font Romeu are only 40 minutes' drive away and there, even in summer, there is much to see and do. Also close by is scenic Northern Spain. A bit further on, but still easily doable as a day trip, is Andorra which has a huge range of tax free bargains. All in all, this is an area of great beauty and variety.

n summer reservations should start and end on weekends. Please contact me if you would like to arrive/leave another day.

Lovely accomodation

Very nice house with all the equipment you needed to cook and live in. We enjoyed exploring the area and were grateful to our hosts information on where to go. The house is in a fairly rural area but not too far from supermarkets etc so was just what we wanted

Disappointed

The property is in a stunning mountain valley setting in a quiet semi rural village however it is very isolated and a car is essential to be able to access local amenities which are not within easy walking distance. Facilities and restaurants close early. We arrived on Sunday evening and all local shops and restaurants were closed. The villa itself was very dreary and badly in need of renovation and maintenance , I had to purchase personal towels, old out of date food and packaging . The garden needed maintenance especially around the pool with loose paving and uneven surfaces many health and safety issues, no pool lightning or alarm. The property was filthy dirty and I spent the first day of our long awaited holiday scrubbing and cleaning. I contacted the host and they denied there being any issues and was dismissive. The area itself is a beautiful location but you have to travel at least an hour to any coastal locations. Great if you are hiking or biking but not much else. Also the temperature was in the 30’s during our stay and without air conditioning we were unable to sleep at night especially as it was necessary to keep windows and shutters closed at night. I would never wish to return to this property and would not recommend it until these fundamental issues are rectified.

A perfect retreat

We enjoyed a very relaxing three weeks at Patricia’s villa, it is fully equipped with all you need for a short or longer stay. The pool is fantastic and although there were some issues with it when we first arrived these were very quickly rectified by Christophe, the villa manager who dropped by regularly to check on the pool (and to let us back into the villa after we inadvertently locked ourselves out!) The area is stunning with so much to do, Villefranche de Conflent and Vernet are both beautiful villages and there are a wealth of hiking trails locally. A car is necessary as Fuilla itself is very small with just one restaurant which is only open in the evenings on Friday and Saturday

Lovely part of France

Amazing scenery and everything thought of in a homely and clean villa. Some amazing places to visit nearby by. Only one restaurant close by, that was open, but then the towns are only a 10min drive away. Fantastic food and wine. All of us had a lovely break x

Tranquil retreat

Villa was very comfortable and had everything we needed including basic cooking foodstuffs such as oil. A welcome selection of items including wine was very much appreciated. The pool was a good size if a little cool in September. Lots to see and do in the area. The best part was the privacy and tranquility in a beautiful area. The only downside for us was that we did a lot of driving every day and nothing was in walking distance.

Perfect Location Between Beach and Mountains

We just had a wonderful week in Fuilla in this lovely very well equipped, well placed villa. From the moment we arrived and met our Villa managers who were very attentive we loved it. It felt like home, the kitchen was very well stocked with everything you need for your stay in a villa. The pool was brilliant and we found inflatables to use in the garage which were very welcome in the afternoons lounging around the pool in the afternoon sunshine. With the view of the Canigou mountain right there in full view, absolutely spectacular. We love the outdoors and there was plenty of wildlife to be seen around the villa and the countryside from tiny birds and the swallows swooping in for a drink from the pool to the beautiful blue bees visiting the lavender bushes on the drive. The local area is steeped in history and there is plenty to do, caves, beaches, markets and castles all in the villas vicinity. We had a fabulous time and would highly recommend a visit to the area and to this villa, all credit to Chris and Judy and to the owner Patricia 😀

As advertised

Sadly after booking we were unable to go but friends replaced us with the assistance of property owner. They were very content with the property and surrounds expressing an opinion that they'd never known a place live up so exactly to the pictures on the site. Whilst there they experienced some unfortunate health problems and were greatly assisted by the owner's local representatives and also mighty impressed with the local French clinic etc. They would certainly return and my wife and I are hoping we'll still get there at some stage. Recommended.

Wonderful location, great weather, brilliant owner

A beautiful property in a location with amazing views and perfect facilities. Patricia, the owner, was a delight to deal with (not a typical experience) and nothing we asked was too much trouble. Thank you, Patricia for a wonderful holiday. Even in late September/October the weather played its part on most days and we had a great time with temperatures in the late 20s. The pool was wonderful (if a little chilly at this time of year) but much needed to cool off. Swimming while able to look up at Mount Canigou made it very special. The local scenery is spectacular and Villefranche de Conflet, just at the bottom of the hill, is a really interesting town with a fascinating history. The market in Prades is, primarily, a local market (at this time of year, at least) and fascinating for that. We found nice restaurants in Villefranche, Vernet les Bains and Prades. Our particular favourites were Bistrot le Cortal in Vernet (hard to find but worth the effort) and El Patio in Prades (not to be confused with Le Patio in Villefranche which we thought was OK but no more). We holiday in Southern France every year and it was a little strange to be in an area with no vineyards. If, however, you venture towards the coast (highly recommend Collioure), or anywhere near Thuir, I can highly recommend Domaine Treloar (owned by a Brit and a Kiwi) at Trouillas. As a white wine fan, their One Block Muscat is wonderful - and the reds aren't bad either!!

Lovely place - great pool

My family and I stayed at the villa for a week at the end of August and it was perfect for us. The pool was fantastic and the kids loved it. The house is a nice size with two good size bedrooms and living space and equipped with everything we needed. The views are really great too. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Superb villa in a stunning setting

We have stayed in many holiday properties in Europe and this one is probably the best overall in terms of quality, location, setting and facilities. The booking process was excellent with great communication from the very helpful owner. Very comprehensive directions and property details made our preparation and stay very smooth. The villa is very clean, comfortable and very well equipped with everything you could need and more. We cook in the villa most of the time and we found it had everything we wanted to do this, both kitchen and barbecue cooking. Lots of room inside and out. We were a couple, but there is plenty of room for more. The pool is absolutely gorgeous and kept very clean. You cannot possibly ever tire of laying back in the pool and gazing up at the mountains. Idyllic. The property isn't alone as there are other properties close by, but it is still very private and secluded and the pool isn't overlooked. This is a perfect combination. We also took our springer spaniel dog with us and the villa was perfect for him. The garden was enclosed and safe, with plenty of shaded areas. The local vets in Prades was excellent for the pet passport checks and treatments before we set off back. The inside of the villa keeps cool even in the hot weather, which was great. There are so many places to visit nearby. It is perfectly placed for trips to the coast - less than an hour. We visited Collioure and Port Vendres and would highly recommend both. Less than an hour the other way, and on one of the most stunning drives you will ever take, you are in the mountains and ski resorts. We even saw snow on top of the mountains one morning we were there (yes, in August!) which was lovely to see. It is extremely well placed for shops - 10 mins drive away is Prades which has two supermarkets which are excellent, as well as other shops. Nearer still are Villefranche-de-Conflent and Eus, both of which are must see places. As is Les Orgues D'Ille. All a short drive away. I could go on. I've probably gone on too much already, but I want to get across what a wonderful place this is for a holiday. PS, we loved the frog chorus, and the crickets. It lets you know you are in the countryside. The perfect accompaniment to sitting out with a glass of wine under the stars at night, looking up at the mountains. We loved our stay here and were very sad to leave. We hope to return one day.

Almost perfection

We had a wonderful week in your villa. It was very comfortable, and could be kept cool even in the very hot weather we had. The pool was a boon - great way to cool off. We loved the Fuilla/Sahorre valley, and the great walks all around. We had a pleasant meal at Les Mines in Sahorre one evening. Highlight of the week: a drive to Col de Mantet and walked on up from there. Views!! It's a beautiful peaceful spot, with the one exception being the night-time frog choir. Finally of course, Canigou. Difficult to drag ourselves away from the ever-changing glorious mountain views.

So good we are going back

We chose this property because it seemed to be one of the only ones to have a secure garden for our small dogs. However the place was fantastic! It is very comfortable, clean and the secure garden with the pool was perfect. The location is great for exploring in the mountains and then to come back and relax round the pool is bliss. The near by town of Prades is brilliant with supermarkets and an English speaking vet. TUesdays has a good food market along with a more bespoke market on Saturdays. Just up the road before you get to the next village is a place which makes the most delicious cheese- well worth a visit...... In the next village is a small shop which sells the essentials along with a bread van which comes to the village. For people with dogs you could not ask for more- plenty of walks nearby - and a completely secure garden and a very comfortable house. This place was so good we are going back in June 2017

FABULOUS TIME! !!!!!!

We have just finished our holiday in France. We stayed in Fuilla for a week and wished it was for longer. It was truly home from home, it was comfortable, everything you might need was there. Great location, easy to pop into Spain for the day. The pool was fabulous we had a great time splashing about in it.The owner is very helpful and friendly as is the manager who came over to make sure all was well. Can't wait to go again. I miss Mount Canigou. WARNING! !! You will too.

Spectacular

We spent a wonderful week in this beautiful villa. The house was fantastic and the views were nothing less than spectacular. We loved watching the sun peeking over Mount Canagou every morning. The garden has a beautiful pool and two pretty apple trees (we made an apple crumble with the juicy apples!) We were delighted with the lovely bottle of wine left for us and the booklet of information helped us plan our days. The area is very peaceful and we enjoyed walks to Sahore and villefranche. We discovered the €1 bus leaving Villefranche travelling all over the department. Although we hired a car, we much preferred to sit back on the bus and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We visited The abbey of st Martin de Canagou, shopped in Perpignan and dipped our toes in the Mediterranean in the seaside town of Collioure. This was our first ever holiday in France and it was much much more that we had expected. Thank you so much for having us and we can't wait to return again. Glenda & Paul Ireland

Perfect relaxation in a beautiful part of France

We (family of 4 with children aged 14 and 11) spent 3 wonderful weeks here this summer. The house was great and its setting is truly stunning. Lazing in the pool surrounded by the mountains was a perfect way to spend our summer holiday. There are plenty of things to do as and when you leave the house. We enjoyed trips up into the mountains and to the coast. We also went white-water rafting which was an incredible experience. All in all it was undoubtedly the best holiday we've had in France, and we've had many. We look forward to coming back to this beautiful house and this beautiful region in the future.

What a simply stunning view!

This was a very special holiday for us, and we had high expectations; but we were completely overwhelmed by this beautiful area. We spent three weeks at the villa, and absolutely loved our time there. The villa has such a homely ambience that we immediately felt comfortable. The surrounding area is so stunningly beautiful, the breathtaking view from the side window in the main room fills your heart with joy, and watching the sun rise over Mount Canigou lifts your spirits and lightens your soul.

Lovely villa in great location. The villa is comfortable and doesn't feel like rental accommodation. Everything you might need for a good family holiday is available, including board games, cards, DVDs etc. The whole process from booking, payment, key hand-over, pool care, gardening, and help whilst away was managed really well. We will be back; thank you!

Beautiful scenery

We had a lovely stay here in September, weather was particularly lovely and the scenery was absolutely stunning. The house is well laid out and has everything you would need. Would love to come back again. Very clean and a lovely bottle of wine and some essential food items were provided. Any problems were sorted as best as they could almost straight away. Be careful of the hot tap in the bath as it leaks and can scold if you are not careful whilst in the shower or bath.
