About this property

Welcome to our holiday home on the beautiful and historic Isle of Skye. This 2 storey house has electric central heating and is doubled glazed throughout. It provides the ideal base for touring or just cozying up and watching the ever changing vistas. The house has an open south facing aspect with views from all the windows. There is an open plan living area downstairs and the upper hall sitting area has a large picture window. There are 2 en-suite bedrooms one with a kings size bed and the other with two single beds, the 3rd bedroom also has two single beds and is adjacent to the bathroom with over bath shower. The garage has washing and drying facilities. A patio door leads out from the dining area to a decked area. The garden faces south, adjacent to natural croft land and off-road parking. Portree and its natural harbour is within walking distance and has an excellent range of facilities. Cultural attractions are plentiful and sports enthusiasts are well catered for with walking, climbing, cycling, boat trips.
We also have Fibre Broadband with up to 52Mb download speed.

Wonderful house in a great place

We had a wonderful few days in Arus. It’s a lovely modern, comfortable and well equipped house with stunning views across to Portree. The location was perfect for us to head out for time in Portree, walks in the hills and a trip to Raasay. I would highly recommend.

Amazing views!

Great location to explore Skye. Views from the cottage were spectacular, was nice to have two sitting areas from which to enjoy them. House is very well equipped with everything we could’ve needed especially in the kitchen. Bedrooms well furnished too and very comfortable, blackout blinds were perfect for the early morning sun and having three bathrooms was a treat. Beds were comfy too. Our first visit to Skye and it didn’t disappoint!

Lovely house,clean and close to Portree.Minor complaint,not enough towels,we were given one bath towel and one hand towel for the week,the weather wasn't good enough to wash and dry them outside.Some if the pots need replacing,they were nonstick but scratched.

Lovely holiday cottage with great views

The property is immaculate about a 30 minute walk outside Portree. It was a great centre for us to walk and explore the northern part of Skye. Loved it and would book again

Wonderful week

I had previously visited Skye when I was 21 and this year I am 70 so I was eager to see if I still loved it as much and check if it still wowed me in the same way. It certainly did! Our accommodation was perfect for our group of 3 adults - large and airy, with stunning views of the Cuillins and very well equipped. It was in the perfect location on the outskirts of Portree so it was easy to pick up provisions and get to restaurants although we did a lot of our own cooking to make the most of having the house. It was also just near enough for me to explore the town on my own and there are several lovely walks from the front door. Overall an excellent week and even the weather was great!

5 star Skye getaway

This property is a gem on the Isle Of Skye. Ample accommodation for six. Extremely well positioned for touring the island. We were blown away with the views from the house. The owners have equipped this property with everything you could possibly need for your stay. We would love to be able to return at some time in the future.

Lovely house, great location

Lovely views from the house, great location just outside portree with restaurants and facilities to hand - the perfect spot. Well equipped, modern, comfortable and clean. The second living area on the first floor wasa wonderful spot to play board games or just sit and read. The garage was useful as a drying area after trips out in Skye's autumn weather. Good communication from the owner. Nothing to fault would definitely stay here again next time we come this way. Our party was 4 adults and 2 children.

Week on Skye - 9th to 16th July 2021

House was as described, clean and good location. Handy for Quirang, Old Man of Storr etc. 1 mile walk to Portree - handy enough for shops etc, far enough away for peace and quiet. Only slight downside was "building site" next door (burning waste products and using a telehandler / power tools to 10pm most nights). Eventually had to speak to them and they stopped for a few days - otherwise I would recommend the property - this wasnt the fault of the property owner.

Great house

We enjoyed staying in the house. Very well equipped and lots of space. Good to have 3 bathrooms and 2 livings areas. Lots of parking. A bit further from Portree that we’d expected but overall great location. It was very warm this well because we had excellent weather. Only hiccup was front door lock!

Our stay in Skye

From the moment I booked the accommodation to arriving and staying everything was as it said it would be and the hosts were very helpful and communicative. The property was beautiful just what we wanted , clean , homely and in a great location with wonderful views and a range of information about the local area and yet near enough to Portree to pop in for some shopping. It felt like our own little hideaway and certainly felt like home away from home we had a fab 7 nights here and I would highly recommend this place and a visit to the stunning Isle of Skye - we will be back 😊

Perfectly situated warm and welcoming dwelling

The property is easy to find and not too far from the town of Portree. It was clean, modern, and had a beautiful southern facing aspect which provided many magical sunrises and sunsets. The house itself was actually better than expected and the communications with the owners were timely and helpful. The internet was reliable and fast. If I am ever in the area again I shall check first to see if it is available.

We found the house very comfortable and enjoyed its location and lovely views to the Cuillins. Furnishings were excellent quality and very comfortable ,everything we could have asked for. The only disappointment was the oven which we did not feel we could use in the current virus situation due to its lack of cleanliness

Portree vacation

The property is ideally located for exploring Skye, and is conveniently located for shops and restaurants in Portree. The property itself was comfortable, and had lovely views out across Portree. It would have been nice to have had a real working fire as this would have made it really cosy. There were 4 of us and worked well in the space.

I was born and brought up on the Isle of Skye. Our family have spent many holidays on Skye and now as adults still love to visit.

Why they chose this property

Achachork has always been a favourite part of Skye for us with its panoramic views and being within walking distance of Portree, the main village on Skye. When this site came up we decided to go ahead and build a house taking into account the wonderful views across Portree to the Cuillin Hills beyond. We are very lucky to have a lovely house built to our own specification with everything we need in a holiday home and wonderful views to enjoy from every window.

What makes this property unique

The views from the house towards the Cuillin Hills are spectacular and the house is warm, comfortable and has all the mod cons required for a relaxing stay. As a base the location is perfect for day trips throughout the island being so near Portree. There is nothing better than to sit on an evening with 'refreshments' and watch the setting sun turn it's magic on the landscape, no matter which season there is always something different to view.
