Great family holiday at Casa Lia!

We had a lovely stay at Casa Lia in September. The weather was perfect and the villa was everything we needed for a relaxing week. Tavira is also a lovely place, with lots of great restaurants!

Peace and tranquility

Casa Lia was clean and really well-equipped with absolutely everything we needed. The outdoor space was perfect with a table in a shaded area and a pool perfect for cooling off. It was really windy while we were there - particularly at night so if you are a light sleeper ear plugs might be handy. The communication with Debbie, the owner was great and Jimmy and Fatima were on hand to guide us to the Villa when we arrived and deal with any queries. The villa is in a stunning location - completely away from other properties. It is about a 15 minute drive from Tavira which is a beautiful town - and especially stunning at night. Local beaches are great - we’d particularly recommend Cacela Velha. Casa Lia was a fantastic place for real rest and relaxation!

Magical

From driving up on the first night and seeing the beautiful driveway lights, to our leisurely final day by the pool, this villa has been exquisite throughout. The owner has found just the right balance between keeping it extremely clean while making it a comfortable and fun place to spend your hols. It’s remote (how we like it) but just 10 minute drive from restaurants/ supermarkets etc. Imagine waking up in the stunning natural Algarve nature and jumping into your own private pool in the hills. I’ll never forget the peace this place put in my heart. Would I come again? You betcha!

Clean and comfortable with everything you could wish for to make your stay perfect. Fantastic BBQ and terrace for lovely outdoor dining. The perfect place to enjoy a relaxing and peaceful holiday.

Peaceful and relaxing

Had a lovely week in the villa it is very well appointed and has everything you need. The area is very peaceful and there is lots of space. It is about a 15 min drive into Tavira, with a couple of local restaurants 5 mins drive away. If you want a great relaxing holiday in a beautiful area recommenced very much.

And breathe.........

Our third visit to Casa Lia which must say something! We love the well equipped house and it's lovely garden and pool which we can happily spend many hours in. We love the location, away from the crowds with far reaching views and the peace and quiet. We love the friendly nature of the owner and the people who look after the villa and pool who are always so helpful. There really is nothing we don't love about the place and we will be back!

The most relaxing vacation!

We stayed 2 weeks at Casa Lia and really enjoyed it. The house is spacious and we especially liked the outside area at the pool a lot. Since there are no direct neighbors it was wonderful that the kids were able to play at the pool and did not disturb anyone with noise. It is so peaceful out there and we were really able to relax! The drive from the main road (125) to the house is quiet a bit (about 15 minutes), but that is ok. Our favorite beaches were Cabanas and Praia Verde.

Amazing holiday

We were let down by the villa we had originally wanted to book in Spain and so had a last minute scramble to find somewhere to stay within our budget. Debbie was so helpful when I spoken to her and assured me that the Villa sounded like just what we needed. The pictures looked amazing and so we were quite excited. The whole process was very easy, We arrived in Faro and picked up our hire car, we called Mitchell and he was happy with us going shopping first and then meeting him. We found Aldi in Tavira with no trouble and bought a few bits to see us through the first few days and then met Mitchell for the final drive up to the villa. When we arrived, after the slightly hairy drive with narrow roads (I have never driven a LH drive car before) we arrived at the most amazing and beautiful location. The Villa was clean, light, bright and airy. With no immediate neighbours it was also very peaceful. There was plenty of space both inside and outside and amazing views from the roof terrace. You could even see the sea on the horizon. The rooms were all comfortable and clean, despite my visitor (I found a gecko on the wall but he kept hiding somewhere so I couldn't put him out) I slept very well. My friends found it a little too quiet, but they both live in a city so are not used the silence. We travelled to Tavira on 2 days of our short stay and found it to be a beautiful place, the people were all very friendly and the food in bar/restaurant Matias was amazing. We also took a drive to Pedras D'el Rei which was very easy to find with stunning beaches. it seemed very popular though with the beach still being packed when we arrived at 5.30pm. All in all we had an amzing break and are already thinking of returning next year and recommending it to our family and friends.

Lovely family villa set in quiet location, ideal for 6 with lots of space to spread out & relax

My wife and I have been holidaying in Tavira for over 12 years now and really love the area. This year we decided to holiday with our daughter, partner and grandchildren aged 5 & 2 and chose this villa for our stay. Whilst there are steps to access the property from the driveway, the rest of the villa and pool area are all on 1 level which is ideal for little 1's to be able to move around without taking a tumble. The kitchen and lounge are spacious and open plan which again makes it easier for food preparation and chatting/relaxing to be the norm. You can dine inside or out to suit you but we dined outside as the table area is fully shaded in the morning and evening. Lunchtime, half the area is shaded but we just moved the chairs onto that side and managed to get all 6 of us in the cool. There is lots of space around the pool for 6 loungers, tables and parasol and still have room to be able play some games too or there is a large sun terrace area on the roof where you can have a kick about or dry washing out of the way. The pool is lovely and the kids loved being able to splash about to cool off whenever they wanted as did the adults !! There are 3 or 4 steps to get in/out and then the pool slopes quickly away to it's max. depth - I'm 5ft 10 and could stand all the way around no problem. We also liked that the floor outside by the pool doesn't become too hot to walk on in bare feet in the afternoon unlike some of the terracotta tiles. Again, great for the little 1's and adults alike - no need for any mad dashes getting out of the pool or taking a breather from the loungers, risking stubbed toes etc !! The property is well presented with lots of extra bed linen and towels in abundance. Each room has aircon and some have ceiling fans too. In this property, you have to pay extra for electricity used during your stay and the owner estimates a party of 6 will normally use about £7/£9 per day so just bear this in mind. Most properties we have stayed in previously include this in their pricing but here it's your choice to some degree how much you use. The property is well located for access to supermarkets, meals out in Tavira and the motorway are all within a 15/20 mins drive. The property manager Mitchell is very approachable and went out of his way to help us if we needed something, he is only about 20 mins away and Ron & Denise - a lovely couple who manage the pool cleaning are just up the road. All in all we had a lovely family holiday.

Fantastic peaceful and spacious well equipped villa

Just returned from a short stay at Casa Lia. We absolutely loved it. Travelling with two teenage boys we all had plenty of our own space as lots of room inside and outside. Everything was there that you needed even down to the picnic box & cold blocks for when we were out for the day to the water parks. There were plenty of towels, plastic pots and all conceivable kitchen items. The villa whilst peaceful is down an unmade track for the last 800 metres. We had a low slung sports car which was not ideal. Plenty of places to visit within a 30-45 drive. There are large supermarkets within a 15 minute drive. The house manager Mitchell was very helpful and the check in process was very easy including liaising with Debbie the owner who was extrembly helpful. We would love to come back again.

Away from it all!

Our second stay at Casa Lia was just as good as we had remembered! The spacious villa is set in a stunning location, the only real noise from the cicadas in the trees! The facilities are excellent, everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Mitchell the house manager is charming, speaks good English and is always ready to help. We made good use of the pool which is attended to regularly and spent many happy evenings barbecuing and enjoying a glass or two of wine bought at very reasonable prices from Lidl in Tavira. The geckos caused a great deal of amusement with their nightly antics. The terrace is the perfect place for star gazing and if you are there at the right time you may see shooting stars as we did on both occasions we have visited. We also enjoyed excellent tapas at Pausa and D' gusta in Tavira, having booked these from the UK as we know how popular they are in peak season. Our favourite beach remains Terra Estreita, reached by ferry from Santa Luzia. All in all a great holiday and we look forward to returning another year.

Beautiful location and well equipped Villa

We spent 2 weeks in July 17 and had a great time. The VIlla is very homely with everything needed for a peaceful holiday. It is remote, but that's what we wanted, although it's only a 15 minute drive to Tavira. Outside space is great with stunning views across the valleys. It is in quite a windy spot which is great during the day as it's a cool breeze on a very hot day, but the wind can howl at night. The owner Debbie was very accommodating throughout and managed any questions we had quickly. Air conditioning is extra, so you will need to keep an eye on the use of it. I think it was about an extra £60 a week for the electricity. Overall the location was great, close to many places and away from any crowds. If you want a quiet family holiday then this is the place.

Relaxing stay at Casa Lia

A very relaxing week in this peaceful and spacious villa. Casa Lia has amazing views and is located in a beautiful area. Beds were comfortable, kitchen and lounge spacious, and the pool fantastic. Tavira is only 15 minutes away and has great shops and restaurants. Visited the beach once which was ideal for families as the sea is shallow. The villa is well equipped to ensure you have a great stay.

Great villa, great location

The villa is very well equipped and ideal for family holiday. Set in a quiet, peaceful area Casa Lia is perfect for a relaxing break whilst only being a 15 minute drive from the centre of Tavira. The pool is well maintained by Mitchell and the mid-stay clean was carried out to a very high standard. We particularly enjoyed the pool, patio and barbecue area.

A beautiful grand and very spacious peaceful villa surrounded by the hills near lovely Tavira

This is our fourth family visit. We keep coming back because this non overlooked villa is simply stunning. The villa is very clean (always cleaned prior to a visit) and well presented with all you need and more inside. The outside has a lovely pool with rolling views down to the sea in the distance. There is a very large patio area with a huge BBQ that we love cooking on. There is also a table outside for eating. This villa can accomodate a large group in style. You will not be disappointed. We love it! Ps A contact is provided during your stay who is very helpful and cleans the pool on a regular basis. Good to have around if you have any questions about anything !

Superb

My partner and I and 2 other couples who are close friends stayed at Casa Lia for 2 weeks and did not want to leave! from the start, Debbie the owner was really good to deal with and answered all our questions with enthusiasm and professionalism, making the whole booking process easy and straight forward. Casa Lia is just a hidden gem. I totally forgot to write in the visitor book, falling asleep by the pool on the last day seemed to take over especially as Debbie let us stay later as we had a late flight home. I can not recommend this villa enough. The overall accommodation is spacious, well laid out, kind to the eye and unusually homely for a holiday home. Everything you can wish for from the dishwasher to full English TV (not that I watched it much) and a music system with outside speakers. The choice of music available was surprisingly good from 60's to opera if you like that kind of thing. Phone and mobile data is excellent in this area so Wi-Fi is not needed, better than at home in the UK! The outside space is excellent with a lovely clean pool and amazing views all round. Most days you can see all the way to the sea. You do need a car as the nearest shop is about 15 minutes drive away and local beaches (Casela Velha our favourite) about 20 mins away. Tavira is about 15 mins away which is a lovely Portuguese town/city not too spoilt by tourism and spoilt for choice with restaurants and bars. There is a very good Lidl and indoor shopping centre called The Grand Plasa about 20 mins away. The best part by far is the quiet and privacy this villa gives with the nearest house about 1/4 mile away. Perfect for that all over tan while enjoying the view............. A stylish outdoor BBQ which was used most nights, cooking under the stars to the sound of the crickets. Mitchel (the guy who looks after the villa) was a gem. We only saw him once more after arrival which was the day before we left but I did send a couple of texts to ask about local info and he always came straight back. We were out when Valentina came to clean half way through but she did a really good job and even hung our washing out which was still in the machine. We very much look forward to staying at Casa Lia again in the future.

A great place for a relaxing holiday

We found Casa Lia the perfect place for a get away from it all holiday. We loved driving up from the N125, over the bridges, through the villages and forest, led expertly for the first time by Mitchell though we found your written instructions were so clear that we think we would have made it on our own! We found the villa absolutely amazing, spacious, clean, well equipped and the views absolutely spectacular. We made good use of the pool and spent many hours on the terrace, sunbathing in the daytime and watching the stars in the evening. All 3 of us managed to see a shooting star during our week, that must be a lucky sign! We did venture away from the villa to visit nearby beaches and restaurants but were always happy to return. We thought the automatic driveway lights when we returned in the dark were magical! We found Mitchell charming and although we didn't need to call him during the week, it was reassuring to know he was on the end of the phone. All in all a memorable holiday, just wish we were there longer!

Beautiful private villa with pool

This spacious villa lies in the hills a few miles from Tavira. The views and setting are lovely, nestled as it is in hills scented with eucalyptus, rosemary and lavender. It's spacious and well appointed, clean and comfortable with full air-con (not just fans). Offering peace and complete privacy yet a handy 15-minute drive from the amenities (gorgeous blue flag beaches, a wealth of restaurants, festivals and nightlife in the Roman town of Tavira) it provides the best of both worlds. Convenient to the motorway should you wish to explore the mid or Eastern Algarve, it's also about a half-hour drive to the Spanish border for a day out. Our teenage boys loved it and spent a lot of time in the pool. They're also into wildlife and spotted gorgeous butterflies and birds we don't see at home. There's no Wifi in the house at present but we discovered that the lure of Lidl in Tavira was not just their tasty bread and pastries but the free Wifi and that served our needs using our mobile phones! .We had a great holiday aided by Mitchel the concierge who was on the end of a phone when we needed him ready to help with advice and support.

Spacious, clean, homely quiet retreat.

Extremely comfortable villa wanting for nothing. All 3 bedrooms very spacious. Kitchen fully kitted. Large patio area with a marvellous swimming pool surrounded by greenery. By far the biggest asset is the absolute peace and quiet - the breeze can be heard at night and the birds singing in the morning - no other sounds whatsoever, not even a car or a voice! Nearest neighbours almost 1km away. A drive to Tavira is easy and takes about 20mins along quiet country lanes. Food shopping is therefore not a problem. My wife and I enjoyed our stay enormously and hope to return. Fully recommended for a peaceful family holiday.

Beautiful villa in an amazing setting

The owner, Debbie, made the whole booking process so easy. Herman and Mitchell, who look after the property, are friendly and helpful. The villa itself is very large and bright and in a beautiful setting. Tavira is only 15 minutes away and there are lovely restaurants only 5-7 minutes away. Highly recommended

A great villa in a great location, we loved it!

Casa Lia was just as the listing promised, a spacious villa with fantastic views. The house is light and airy. The rooms are large. The accommodation is all on one level which works really well for that indoor/outdoor living. Doors from the master bedroom and the kitchen lead straight out to the pool and garden. There's a lovely big table out there where we had all our meals taking in the view of hills and sea. Bliss. The house is great for comfortable family living. Plenty of beds for the children to choose from. Nice bedding and towels. Everything very clean. Everything in the kitchen we needed. There are home comforts too - the children had a sofa each (there are three), to watch English TV in the heat of the day. Casa Lia is very peaceful, good for privacy and relaxation. The owner gave us excellent directions and once we knew the way it was actually easy to get to Tavira. Both the owner and Mitchel, who looks after the house and pool, were very helpful and answered any questions we had. We would recommend this villa, it's a lovely place. Tavira itself is beautiful. There are some great beaches, Barril is our favourite, some really good places to eat, Casa Fernanda near the villa was great and very Portuguese. We had a lovely holiday. I wish I was there now, sitting by the pool, warm breeze, glass of Vinho Verde in hand....

Casa Lia

Casa Lia is a great villa in a quiet and secluded location. The villa has everything that a family could need and more. It is spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The pictures on the website do not do it justice - breakfasting in the garden each morning, overlooking the countryside and pool, with the sea in the distance was heavenly. Although the setting feels quite remote, Tavira is only a short drive away and is a lovely town to stroll around and eat out in in the evening. The owner was very helpful when we booked, as was the manager and his son whilst we were at the villa. We had some great days out including: Barril Beach (lovely little train ride there and back); Praia Verde beach; boat trip on the Rio Guadiana; Alcoutim Platja Fluvial (riverside beach - perfect on a scorching hot afternoon); Zoomarine (the kids loved this place); Slide and Splash (we all loved this!); nature trail in the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa (good to do late afternoon or early morning). The kids also went horse riding at the local stables - the lady there was great - so helpful. All in all a great place to visit; I would definitely recommend this villa to family and friends.

Idyllic holiday villa

Casa Lia was just what the doctor ordered! Away from the crowds, up in the peaceful hills, but close enough to the town to get the food and all important wine for lazy days and evenings by the pool! The location is perfect for a get away from it all holiday which is exactly what we wanted. The villa is well equipped with everything you could think of, including a range of paperback books and DVDs for the cooler evenings. The bedrooms are airy and spacious, the bathrooms clean and there are plenty of towels, being able to use the washing machine and tumble dryer meant not having to pack too many items and I flew out with just hand luggage for a 9 day trip. We had glorious whether so were a bit lazy on the sight seeing side of things but we did have an afternoon exploring old Tavira, took a ferry to Spain and had tapas in the town square, and visited the market. We also found a great sea food restaurant down on the coast overlooking the lagoon, we left the card in the visitors book. A couple of evening we went down to Tavira and ate in the square where there was lots of life, restaurants and bars near the roman bridge. My favourite part of the holiday was getting up in the morning and sitting on the terrace by the pool having breakfast and enjoying the view. Fantastic! 10/10

We have really hectic lives and holidays are really important to us. Casa Lia, is home from home.
Portugal is a beautiful country, relatively unspoiled by tourism. I went to night school last year to learn the language! When I am not wearing my bikini at the villa, I am a bit of an anorak. Holidays are very much family time for us, which we really treasure and I suppose I hope the girls will keep coming on holiday to our lovely home for as long as possible, perhaps even with grandchildren one day!

Tavira is in a really unspoiled part of the Algarve. It's a very pretty Roman town with cobbled streets and lovely restaurants. My husband and I love totally peaceful holidays which is why we bought Casa Lia. When the girls were small they loved Casa Lia and now they are 25 and 28 they love all the things that young people do. It's important that there's enough to keep them occupied. They bring their partners with them and spend days splashing in the pool, listening to CDs and when it gets too hot they chilled with DVDs in the air-conditioning. The enjoyed the new shopping centre, went to Faro, Manta Rota, Cabanas, Cacela Velha, and ate delicious meals in Tavira, enjoyed the entertainment in the square, went to an open air concert with fireworks in Manta Rota and had beach days there and at Praia Verde.

What makes this property unique

We came to Tavira in November 2007 and viewed 40 properties in 5 days. With Casa Lia, it was pretty much love at first sight. We couldn't get over the feeling of sheer space, light and sunshine. The marble tiles in the bathrooms are nicer than the ones we have at home!
You stand outside the house and it is almost shockingly peaceful. If two birds twitter at the same time, that seems noisy! Perhaps you'll hear the buzz of a Vespa scooter a mile away, but that's about it. The views are panoramic with the Atlantic in the distance and around you beautiful rolling countryside. We have almost three acres, so total privacy is what you get. Sitting there early in the morning before the children get up with my fresh coffee and a good book I feel the stress just flow away! Why do we live in London?..
