Wonderful/Perfect/Sad to leave

I’d give 10 stars if I could! We had the most wonderful two week stay here. It is a beautiful house in a perfect location. The house had everything we needed and has plenty of space for human guests and for our dogs, they loved it just as much as we did. The area is outstanding, quiet and peaceful with beautiful empty beaches within walking distance or a short drive from the house. On our first day, we saw a pod of dolphins that put on a spectacular display for us 🐬 Belmullet is a lovely wee town with exceptional restaurants and cafes, delicious food & staff who couldn’t be friendlier or more helpful. The local people are really friendly, stopping to pass the time of day and making time for each other, something that is a thing of the past in other places I have visited. Such a special place and very heartwarming. Our host Yvonne was excellent with her communications and if she could help in any way, she would. Checking in was easy and there was a very thoughtful welcome gift on our arrival. Yvonne allowed us to fix some wire to the gate so our dogs would be kept safe. We really appreciated being able to do that 🐾 We were so very lucky with beautiful sunny weather for most of our stay, so we have come home feeling totally refreshed and the five hour drive was well worth it. If I had one recommendation, it would be for the caretakers of this beautiful house to ‘up their game’ by way of cleaning (hence only giving 4* for cleanliness) and presentation. Thank you Yvonne.

The location was absolutely perfect, nestled in a serene and picturesque area while still being conveniently close to local amenities Communication with the owner was top-notch. From the moment I booked, they were responsive and attentive, providing detailed instructions and answering all my questions promptly. Their hospitality truly enhanced my experience, making me feel welcome and well taken care of throughout my stay. Beach house

We had a wonderful stay at the beach house. A rural location, very peaceful and relaxing! Beach was near by and many other beaches to find along the way. The house was great for our family of 4, leaving lots of room for us all to relax! More bedrooms there if needed! Having the washing machine there was great. Netflix and the broadband helped when the weather wasn't great! Yvonne left a welcome present, which really did make us feel welcome! House had everything we needed and more! Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful home

The house was amazing, Yvonne even supplied hair dryer, dish washer tablets, washing tablets and everything else you needed to make our stay just perfect. We walked to the beach went swimming in the sea and spent time entertaining our family from the area in the house. We were a family of 4 grown up adult children with our daughters partner and their 10 week old twins and still had plenty of room for us all. We enjoyed lighting the wood burner in the evening although the house has underfloor heating and was so warm. Yvonne left 2 bottles of wine for us and our holiday was perfect. We definitely would recommend and stay again. We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else now. Thank you so much.

Brilliant getaway!

We had a fantastic holiday. The house was beautiful and very well equipped. It provided plenty of safe indoor and outdoor space for our son with special needs, meaning we could all relax! Being a few minutes walk from a super beach was also a huge bonus. We would recommend a trip to Inishkea with Belmullet boat charters. Inishkea is stunningly beautiful and has a compelling history. As a host, Yvonne was very unintrusive, yet at the same time easily contacted to answer any queries. Couldn't recommend the house or the destination highly enough. Many thanks Yvonne!

Quiet and peacefull

Property is in a lovely countryside all the locals were really friendly. Yvonne was great to deal with and very quick in answering any questions I had. I would really recommend this property for a relaxing break away.

Beachhouse haven

Im so chuffed over this , This was a fantastic find , the price per night is more than reasonable for what you are getting the house is fab, comfortable and warm, plenty of room, light airy rooms, our 5 yr old has ASD and she settled in straight away, had no probs sleeping in her " new bed " and our 3yr old loved her new beachhouse lol , theres a real homely feel to the house , a lovely bottle of wine and chocs on arrival ( thankyou yvonne) , the house is equipped with all you could want , then theres the little private gem of a beach literally 2mins from the house , the water is a blueygreen colour and the sand is white , it's like being out foreign and its sheltered , our two kids loved it , there was noone on it at all the day we went down very private. Theres donkeys, horses , sheep, cows, dotted round the area for the kids to look at , a little shop in binghamstown 5mins away from the house for necessities but a 20 min drive straight back to belmullet brings you to a euro spar supermarket and if you drive on just a bit further up the rd your back into the town with all you could want. The locals are lovely people , had a great laugh with a lady at the deli counter in spar about a crispy bacon and egg roll first thing in the morning!! lol , we didnt go to the pubs but seem to be great place for a pint , and it's a lovely drive to the lighthouse and the views are stunning , if I could post pics I would , this place is great for a quiet break away from the hussle and bustle of life. Thankyou Yvonne for everything and we will most definitely be back by the end of this year again xxx

Good house in a stunning location

Settled upon a peninsula on the west coast of Ireland this home offered all and more than we needed for a break from the toils of life. With sea views, quiet country roads and friendly unobtrusive neighbours we quickly adopted vacation mode. A gentle five minute stroll brought us to an unspoilt beach which on most days was ours alone to enjoy. This beach is but one of many pearls which adorn the peninsula as a necklace does a tender form. A ten minute drive brings you to Belmullet for shops, pubs, restaurants and bowling. Ballycroy National Park is 45 minutes away and Achill is just over an hour. Surfing lessons are available nearby and boat trips to the off shore islands can be booked. Ireland is a beautiful country and the west coast is the jewel in the crown. I can think of no better place to lose oneself than along the Wild Atlantic Way nor a better place to sooth one's soul than at the Beach House in Belmullet.

Fabulous property with amazing sea views

Spent a great week in this property in October 2017 with a family of 4 and 2 big dogs. The house is huge and immaculate throughout with plenty of room outside too. It's very well equipped with everything you need including a washing machine and dishwasher. The views are absolutely stunning, especially at night, and it was so peaceful to gaze at the sea with a glass of wine from the welcome pack left by the owner. This was very thoughtful - and much appreciated! We had the added bonus of Hope the donkey (lawnmower) in the garden and he certainly liked his carrots and apple - although he also liked to kick over his water bucket to get your attention and more carrots!. The beach is less than a 5 minute walk away and was really clean. There are plenty nice walks around the house and the sea air is so fresh.The village pub is about 15 min walk away and is cozy and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this property.

House and area was lovely, we arrived late on a bank holiday weekend, The nearest shop that sold basics like milk and bread was 19 kms away, So beware , take a few days supply with you, A welcome pack was so welcoming, Lovely beech 5 minutes walk, but not safe for swimming, due to strong current activity. Local Bar also very welcoming, Not forgetting, wee centre wher you get a lovely cup of tea served by a very friendly lady, Enjoyed every minute of this Fantastic part of the World

great place to unwind

a lovely relaxing break, the house was very light and warm and lots of space. Close to the beach which was great as my dog and i spent quite a lot of the time me walking and her chasing seagulls plus jumping in and out of rockpools....her not me.! So peaceful a place to stay. And ofcourse Yvonne kindly left a treat bag as a welcome and kind thought...thank you.

Wonderful week!

We arrived at the beach house to find a lovely welcome basket waiting for us complete with wine and treats for the children. Well needed after a long journey. So thoughtful. The house is beautiful, really modern with gorgeous furniture and bedding in each room. Our children loved the space to run around, they especially loved the outside of the property, loads of space to play safely! Having family in the area, we return every year and have stayed in many local holiday rentals, the beach house is by far the best! Great location! We enjoyed being able to walk to the shop, playground and the pub. We will 100% be back. Thanks Yvonne!! xx

Lovely house in peaceful location

We stayed for a week in July with a family of 6 (4 kids aged 10-15). We had a great week here. The house was well equipped, light and warm. It felt light and spacious with big windows giving views in all directions. Nearest beach, 5 mins away on foot, was beautiful, not great for swimming though. Others within 10-15 mins drive were elly bay and (our favourite) mullaghroe which are both blue flag beaches with lovely sand and crystal clear water. We also enjoyed the erris head loop walk (easy walking, lovely views, take a waterproof!) Blacksod bay (beautiful views over achill) and belmullet tidal swimming pool (bracing but fun!). Eurospar in belmullet fine for groceries, shop in aughleam for milk etc. Overall a lovely week in a great house. Could have spent longer, would happily return.

Beach House review

This is a beautiful, clean well designed and well equipped house. Very comfortable in a wonderful relaxed setting. Ideal holiday base. Great place to get away from everything. Relaxing Christmas

We decided to avoid the usual Christmas madness and do something different this year and we are glad that we did! Myself my wife our teenage son and our dog spent a lovely winter break in the beach house. The house is as described and the owners Yvonne & Jim are very helpful. They left us a welcome basket, decorated the house for Christmas and even left our son a little present under the tree. After a walk along one of the surrounding beaches is was nice to come back to such a welcoming retreat.

This property needs some love. We coped with the cooker not working but the skip turning up was a bit much! Bedding not ironed. Windows need cleaning. Everything looks like our booking was a surprise to Vrbo !

Relaxing days on the Mullet peninsula

As always in life... if the kids are alright, everything is alright!! Everybody has enjoyed the stay in this property, in walking distance to the most beautiful beach, that we have ever experienced in Ireland, so much. It is spacious and well equiped. As we had looked for a week rest from all the hustle and bustle, we found the perfect place. We are already making plans for coming back... and not just because the kids are insisting 😉.

I am a wife and mother of 5 children ranging from 35 down to 16! I enjoy gardening, reading, entertaining and travelling. We moved to Ireland from London nearly 20 years ago and just love Irish Life in the countryside. We live 2 hours away from Belmullet and love to visit as often as possible.

Why they chose this property

We bought a site and built our beautiful beach house because my husband is a Architect and loves designing and building houses. We love the area because it is so tranquil and therapeutic with the sea on all sides ! The people are so friendly in this part of Mayo and the weather like the landscape is so dramatic. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets and great storms !!

What makes this property unique

Walking on the beach. Swimming in the clean sea. Picnics and Barbeques. Going on a boat trip to one of the islands. Walking uo to the friendly local pub. Sitting by the log burning stove or open fire in the evenings, with a glass of wine and a good book. Looking out at the sea, feeling the warmth of the underfloor heating on cooler mornings. Star gazing in the evenings.
