Perfect for us

This property was perfect for seven adults from America who wanted a central location and a taste of rural Scotland. The property is remote enough for peace and quiet, but close enough that we could take daily excursions in all directions. Our 5 night stay was perfect.

We loved our stay and just being able to get outdoors and explore was great

We loved the location and quirkiness of the cottage. We loved getting out and exploring the fields and history with the kids. It's something we don't get to do very often in the real world. Will definitely be keeping it in mind to book again.

idyllic location

This property was ideal for a getaway. It did have an isolated location but the views were worth it- simply stunning. The cottage was comfortable and our dogs loved running around. Some of the reviews mentioned how bad the track was- this was not the case it was a farm track, of course it will be a bit bumpy in places but completely passable. We loved spotting the wildlife as we drove along.

Extremely Remote

The home was clean and cozy, but the narrow trail to get there, especially after the daily rain was muddy and slippery. Because of the livestock, three gates had to be open and shut coming and going from the house; not a big deal if it would have been dry weather. The house met our needs, just a little out of the way for our daily travel plans.

we had the best week!

the whole family group felt it was a privilege to stay somewhere so beautiful and close to nature. it was just perfect for our group aged 7 up to 67, the kids and big kids played in the stream, on the swings under the trees, trekking the hills behind before bedtime, kayaking in the loch down in the village or trekking to the top of schiehallion, finally getting some breeze in the hot sunshine. not just the walks but the enclosed garden and the enclosed field in front of us, empty of cattle or sheep was perfect for the dogs during our stay. very relaxing house, easy to cook supper or barbecue indoors while the family played darts in the snug room. we'd all recommend the place to others, the 15 minute drive from the house to the road was always an adventure where my grandson liked to be gatekeeper, the cows are so chilled watching us. we all loved our stay. we had a problem with the dishwasher and it was exchanged the same day, excellent maintenance team.

Our highland stay

We did enjoy our stay at the cottage. Getting there is not for the fainthearted. In fact it was too much for one couple and they chose to book themselves into a hotel in Pitlochry rather than face the drive down the mile long dirt track. The other two couples stayed for our full time there. There were some enchanting things about the cottage, the scenery was first class. The house itself was comfortable but the bathrooms weere all lacking. The first had no heat, the second bathroom desperately needed a new shower curtain and the shower room had smold in the showe stall. The living room and kitchen was well stocked with all we needed for cooking. There was plenty of firewood. One we got to grips with the heating, we found the three bedrooms upstairs comfortable and clean. Be prepared to move cows as you go through the 5 gates on the way. The changing light, heard of deer, cows and sheep were fascinating and fun.

Beautiful escape

Such a wonderful location for a escape from it all! Fiona was very quick to respond to any queries. There was a small problem with one of the showers and she had it fixed immediately! A lovely cosy cottage! The entrance road was a little adventure, i managed no problems in my jeep but one of the party had more of an issue in their small 2 wheel drive as it had rained and it was quite muddy but worth it when you got to the house. The place is heated using electric heaters which we found to not be very efficient though it was an unexpected cold spell in April! Bring plenty of wood for the fire, that kept us nice and toasty and was a cosy feature for the evenings

lovely week in the middle of nowhere - bliss

A very unusual and special property - our hiking group had a wonderful stay here. The route to the cottage is down a long stony track, nobody around for literally miles. If you want escapism and beautiful scenery - you've found it

Peaceful Celebration

We visited this property to celebrate a special birthday. A wonderful escape from city life. Very remote and no tv or internet meant we properly unplugged for the weekend. The beds where comfortable and we especially enjoyed the lounge and bar areas.

Brilliantly remote, with associated pros and cons

The location really is wonderful, it was great to feel so secluded and just enjoy the scenery. The house itself is nice, but needs a little TLC... we experienced a few niggles, such as one shower being too hot to be usable, an oven and a hob not working, problems with keys, that kind of thing. It's possible we were just missing some tricks, of course, but a few small things added up to a general impression. It's worth noting that there's no WiFi, and phone signal was pretty hard to come by (for us, at least). This is great if you want to get away from things, but it came as a bit of a surprise since the listing described having "all modern conveniences". It wasn't a problem for us, but it's worth bearing in mind if you require connectivity for any reason. Another note is that the charmingly-described "mystical access road" is actually a bit of a pain... a very long and rough track through farmland to get to the house. It's all part and parcel of the remoteness, of course, but I don't recommend trying it in a 2-wheel-drive with low ground clearance. One of us had a 4x4 and was fine, but it would take my Civic fifteen minutes just to get to the main road - and that's assuming we didn't have to stop to try and move any cows out of the way! Luckily we had great weather, we probably would have got stuck if the track was muddy. But if you have an appropriate car then it's no bother! Overall we found it a nice place to stay, in a fantastic setting. We wanted a get-away-from-things holiday (especially in these covid times), and it fitted the bill very well - I recommend it if that's what you're looking for.

Golden Wedding Celebration

Moulin Vaddie was the perfect setting for our family celebration. It gave us the space we required, inside and out, and was very comfortable. The fire is amazing and made the main room very cosy. We have had a wonderful weekend, and even the weather was kind to us.

Gemütliches Haus in herrlicher Lage

Perfect views and quiet surroundings

Lovely cottage in peaceful location with outstanding mountain views. Plenty of room for the whole family around the indoor barbecue with time to relax in the quiet garden and watch nature at it’s best. With no other house in sight you don’t need to share the views of tranquility with anyone. Great fully equipped kitchen and an assortment of music and DVDs for entertainment in the evenings. Cleanliness of property was fantastic on arrival and local shop about 15 minutes away for any essentials needed. Surrounding area is fantastic for either forest or loch walking with numerous trails for easy or strenuous level walks. Enjoy your stay as much as we did.

Prachtig gelegen midden in de pure Schotse natuur

Heel rustig gelegen.

This place is magical!

I would recommend this property to anyone who wanted peace and tranquility. Set back approximately 1 mile from the main road the farmhouse is surrounded on all sides by stunning mountains, rivers and wildlife. The farmhouse itself has everything you need and is warm and comfortable. There is lots to do in the near vicinity with the local caravan site having a very reasonably priced shop and restaurant and the local village is picture perfect. My husband and I never really got over our visit and cannot wait to return. It was as if we could pause time for a week and just be! Our young son played happily in the garden surrounded by amazing scenery. We found this farmhouse to be heaven on earth. We will hopefully get married here in the future, never seen a more beautiful location.

Fabulous "away from it all" property

If you are looking at getting away from it all then this is the perfect cottage. No other property in sight and beautiful views. Cottage was exceptionally well equipped, and fantastic open log fire and plenty of logs included. Half an hour to Pitlochry and half an hour to Bruar if you really need retail therapy. Would certainly recommend.
