Matk was very accommodating so thank you. Lovely spot right next to the beach. Yes the steps was a challenge by myself and dogs but was well worth it just for the view. Not able to park on the drive as the Car wouldn’t get up the drive due to luggage in thr boot. Parked in a nearby car parkProperty had everything I needed and was very cleanI did highlight to Mark about the oil tank outside producing fumes but haven’t had a response. So be careful using naked flames next to it . Nice large fridge but the surround system didn’t work although there was sky and a large TV. Loved the living room. And the blind mechanism which was quite smart. It is an old building so expect some noise from the pipes when the boiler is on Overall great vacation let. Sent from my iPhone

Beautiful views, lovely house - let down by unfinished work
We stayed here for 2 nights in January 2025 for 2 nights as a group of 8 including young children as a family weekend away. The house itself is lovely with good facilities and stunning views. Appreciate it was off season however arriving with the majority of the outside area unable to use was a big let down. Tools, wood cuttings, nails and screws everywhere, gaps in unfinished railings some of which were at a high height made it unsafe for our kids to go outside as well as the dogs. Scrap pieces of wood had been piled at the top of the garden with nails sticking out of them, it was all everywhere. It was not communicated to us at all that the house would be having work done and half the deck unable to use. I messaged the host to see if we could arrive an hour early as was travelling from a distance to which they eventually agreed but initially said they would need to check as the deck has been replaced that week. It was completely unfinished when we arrived. It really affected our stay it was a present to our in laws as a gift and it really let us down. Porthtowan is a beautiful place and this house I’m sure will be stunning in the summer when the work is complete, I have just never experienced something like this. No apology or any communication from host to explain situation.
Nice property with plenty of space. We stayed in winter but the deck would obviously be lovely in summer! Parking is available but is tricky and not ideal if you have a van - up a steep ramp and then requires reversing down a narrow lane to get out. Not impossible but not easy! There is parking in the village which was easily accessible when we stayed.
Superb location, great house, plenty of space, comfy bed and pillows . Well equipped although no logs for the wood burner so had to buy some, small issue though. Enjoyed our short stay
We have just returned from our fourth visit to Beach House and have just booked the property again next year.
It is a lovely house with great views of the beach.
Perfect place for a family holiday so close to the beach and with amazing views!
Great house, location. Fantastic balcony and fire pit area with incredible views. It was a relaxing, comfortable and easy stay with everything we could have needed.
The house was very spacious. Plenty of China , cutlery etc. it was clean however there were areas , under sofa radiators that had a lot of dust .
The decking has seen better days and parts of the house needs a bit of tlc.
The parking out side the house is difficult, we then parked in the car park a short walk away. The steps up to the house are many and very steep. But the view is lovely. Overall a great holiday but I wouldn’t book this house again
We absolutely loved the proximity to the beautiful beach and surrounding area. The house was clean and well layed out, everything we needed to relax and enjoy our time with the extended family. We definitely want to return one day...

Lovely property, a few niggles
The property is spacious and well positioned for the beach. Difficult to park a car on their driveway so had to park elsewhere. The BBQ and oven were not clean. Leak in shower room and one shower not working but fixed whilst we were there. The property is lovely and the host personable. With the charges for cleaning i would expect it to be spotless. Check in time too late at 5pm and check out 9.30am too early should be at the very least 10am and 4pm. Especially with all the steps to get everything up and down. Even with these niggles it was a lovely holiday in a beautiful property.
Perfect Location, just minutes walk to the beach and nice play park for the kids. Close to plenty of places to eat. Beach is beautiful. Views from the house is stunning. The cooker, decking and downstairs ensuite shower need some tlc but that didn’t effect usage or us having a fantastic time. Will definitely be coming back!
Lovely place to stay, beach perfect for the dogs and people all very friendly. Accommodation good, could have been much better with a welcome pack! The steps were a challenge, I consider myself quite fit but 74steps to climb with luggage not easy, added to which my husband scraped his car on the hand rail while trying to park on the tricky slope. The views were amazing from the deck as expected.
We had an amazing weekend at this property, it’s a really comfortable house with all you need. We were two families with kids aged between 5-10 and we all had a blast! The beds are super comfortable, seating areas are great with ample space for relaxing and enjoying the stunning views. We were blessed with amazing April weather and it was such a treat to wake up to the sound of the waves and watch the sun rise above Porthtowan. Local cafe and bars are lovely too and bonus playground within watching distance. We have already booked to return- highly recommend!
We needed an early year escape, had discovered Wheal Coates a couple of years ago and Porthtowan seemed like an ideal base for the weekend. The house was perfect for the four of us, with lots of space and incredible choice of rooms. Views of the waves were better than we expected even. Everything was clean - kitchen was great - lots of mugs, glasses, plates etc. Lots of steps up to the front door, but most were shallow so it was not too tiring after a long walk round the coast path. Parking space was large enough for one car but being up a ramp, i would not have wanted to try to park another car behind it. The main car park in Porthtowan was free at this time of year, though, and was only a couple of minutes walk away. Altogether very comfortable - would definitely love to come again, especially as nowhere is far to get to, even on the other coast.
A well equipped house with plenty of room for all to enjoy. Rooms are all comfortable and there are plenty of toilets and showers. The house was warm and the owners provided everything needed. The views are gorgeous and it literally is a two minute walk to the lovely beach and coastal walks. The Unicorn Pub does good food and is a 1 minute walk. There are a lot of steps up to reach the property!! We loved our stay at Beach House.

About the host
Hosted by Mark
We are a family with Cornish roots who love Porthtowan. We bought the Beach Cottage for the stunning views over the beach and coastline beyond. We furnished the house to a high standard with 1 to 2 families in mind, so you can have a relaxing holiday in Cornwall.
Why they chose this property
The North Cornwall Coast is simply stunning, crossing the River Tamar from England lifts the spirit and you know you are in a special place. Porthtowan is a hidden gem of a beach, though its place in the development of surfing in the UK has increased its popularity. With over a mile of sand you will always have plenty of space even in highest summer.
We dreamed of a home with a sea view and Beach House has just that. No driving to the car park, just walk down and back at your leisure. Of course Cornwall has many other attractions and Porthtowan is centrally located for most of them.
