Peaceful location and a really great lodge equipped with everything you could need. Spotlessly clean and comfortable and good communication from hosts Anne and David. Would not hesitate to stay again. ( the bottle of bubbly was a lovely touch!)
We wanted to get away as a family to see in the New Year and this was the perfect place to that.
The lodge was immaculately presented with everything that you needed to stay, there was even a surprise gift to see in the New Year which was completely unexpected but extremely welcomed.
The living area had ample space for all of us to relax, unwind and enjoy ourselves without falling over one another and the bedrooms were spacious too.
There is a shop at the next site which was a 5 to 10 minute walk away, so ideal for anything that you may have forgotten. The location is ideal for those of you wanting to get in some walking too.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our break and would definitely book again.
A few restful days away was exactly what we got.
Location was tranquil, beautiful and just what was needed.
The lodge was perfect, exceptionally equipped, beautifully considered throughout.
Rain put paid to us enjoying the outside spaces but if we could have they would have been lovely.
A wonderful place to stay for a very restful break.
Thank you Anne for everything. X
Great accommodation in a stunning location. David and Anne were great hosts and looked after us. The accommodation has everything that you could want plus. The stars of the week were the red squirrels - 😍 cute alert.
The lodge is amazing, well presented and spotlessly clean, our client loved the weekend break and found it so relaxing.
The red squirrels running across the patio to feed and the wildlife an added bonus.
The hosts were great, providing all the information we needed.
Cant wait to visit again, it was literally Just Perfect.

Really great stay - had a lot of dealings with David as I lost the key (top tip - use the key safe rather than take key with you to the lakes!!) David was very sympathetic
What a fantastic place! We stayed for three nights at the lodge and it was absolutely perfect.
We thought it looked great in the photos, but we were even more impressed when we saw it...as soon as you enter you just love it. All the rooms have a cosy, lodge vibe but are furnished with with gorgeous quality furniture and lots of little touches that just creates the perfect blend. The layout works so well (we are a family of 4 adults) and it was great to all get together for meals (and board games) but then have our own space to retreat to. There is everything you need (and more) in the lodge to ensure you have a truly memorable stay. I woke up every morning to be greeted by red squirrels on the porch - just wonderful!
Dave and Anne really did make sure everything was there for us to enjoy our stay and we absolutely did. Thank you so much.
Just what we needed to get away from it all after such a hectic year. The lodge was spotlessly clean & beautifully decorated, and provided everything we could possibly think of to make us feel welcome. The location was so peaceful being set in the heart of the countryside, and gave us a great place to just sit and watch the wildlife, especially the antics of the cheeky red squirrels who kept us amused for hours!
We had a wonderful week at Rowanburn, exploring lots of the lovely Northern Lakes region. The lodge is situated in a convenient location and we managed to visit Keswick, Bassenthwaite, Buttermere and Ullswater as well as a trip out to Hadrian’s wall. We did a lot of walking including summiting some Wainwright’s and it was so good to come back to a cosy comfortable lodge with everything we needed after a long day in the (often wet!) fells. The lodge is really well equipped, it was easy to cook for ourselves, the tv and DVD player were great for rainy evenings, and the children loved watching the red squirrels and we enjoyed relaxing in the comfy lounge area. Thank you so much Dave and Anne for your understanding and letting us stay in your lovely home. We hope to be back some day to summit some more mountains!
This lovely lodge is in a stunning location offering lots of wildlife. We had regular visits from the bunnies, squirrels and various birds. The owners have thought of everything you might need and have beautifully furnished the lodge to a very high standard. We found a lovely pub in nearby Greystoke that was dog friendly and provided a nice menu. We also visited Penrith and Keswick which are short car journeys away. We hope to stay again soon, can’t recommend enough.
Everything went very smoothly renting this beautiful lodge.
Excellent communication throughout.
Lodge is in an ideal location for visiting the Lake District. We enjoyed Ullswater and Aira Force. Lovely to return to Lodge before sundown and enjoy the peace and quiet in the gorgeous gardens and being entertained by the red squirrels.
We would highly recommend.
From first contact with the owners and all the way through we have had a great experience. The property was better than we expected, the location and property far exceeded our expectations. The owners of the property were very friendly and very helpful and informative all the way through. It felt like a home away from home. My wife and I said we would happily retire in the property. 5 stars from us. 10 out of 10.
A beautiful lodge with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. A real ‘home away from home’ feel to it. We enjoyed watching squirrels have their breakfast in the mornings. Ullswater with its beautiful views is a short drive away. We greatly enjoyed our weekend and hope to be back soon!
We loved everything about this property and it’s owners who obviously know a thing or two about renting out a holiday home. It has everything you need for a home away from home and all fixtures and fittings were tasteful and good quality. We look forward to returning at some point in the future
We loved out stay at Dave & Anne’s lodge they catered for all our needs and it is very homely.
The communication from start to finish was excellent and we can’t wait to visit again
Would highly recommend
Had a lovely experience at Rowanburn Lodge myself and my family found the lodge very clean and spacious, we had a great time watching the Red Squirrels and various wildlife around. Thank you
Loved the cottage, warm, comfortable, relaxing. Idyllic place for morning coffee, cycling, long walks watching the sheep watching us! Will definitely be back.
A lovely lodge in a gorgeous setting. Very comfortable, super clean with everything we needed. Very private with lots of garden space, overlooking a pond and plenty of woodland animals for company, including red squirrels. A great base for visits to the picturesque local area. We will definitely book again!
I came here with my husband, 3 children and dog for a peaceful break and that is exactly what we got and more. The lodge is cosy and the view and wildlife are beautiful. We didn't want for anything as everything is provided. The lodge itself is very clean and well equipped.
Communication from David and Anne is great. I definitely would recommend this lodge to anyone. Thank you for having us

After more than 30 years of teaching we retired at Christmas (2011) and invested in a little piece of rural tranquillity. We have always enjoyed holidays in the Lake District and this lodge overlooking Duke's Pond was perfect. We enjoy walking, cycling and watching the wildlife.
Why they chose this property
Dukes Pond is in a perfect location to access all that the Lake District offers, yet is in a really peaceful location. Dukes Pond is north of Greystoke on the edge of Greystoke Forest and about 15-20 minutes drive from the centres of Penrith and Keswick and all the facilities you would need for a perfect holiday.
What makes this property unique
The area is a haven for wildlife, and a wide variety of birds, red squirrels and roe deer can be watched from the lodge. The area is perfect for cycling and C2C routes pass close by. There are also lots of walks from the doorstop, including those through Greystoke Forest. Rowanburn is in a perfect 'get away from it' location, yet offers all the home from home comforts.
