Just superb

Everything we’d hoped it would be: the house is better than the photographs suggest (which is saying something!), clean and stylish, with space for everyone to relax into, a great garden & everything we could possibly need. Paula could not have been nicer, Tankerton beach and Whitstable were a quick walk, oysters, Samphire, pubs, the Slopes, sunshine, long evenings. Thank you, Paula.

Family holiday August 2019

This was a perfect house for our family holiday. The house is spacious and comfortable and the garden is fantastic, especially for children. It’s a short walk to the beach and to the harbour / High Street.

Great location and characterful house

We loved our stay in Whitstable and thought Walton House was full of character with some lovely homely touches and fantastic art work, books etc. It was great to be within walking distance of Whitstable and Tankerton. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is lack of door on the bathroom in the main bedroom and all of the beds were uncomfortable. Loved our stay never the less. Thanks

Spacious and homely property

A homely house with plenty of room for 8 including 2 children who particularly liked the trampoline and lego. It had everything we could need with the exception of a microwave oven. The front door yale lock had only 1 key. It was useful for an extra bed to be put in the small bedroom so that we were all on the upper floor for sleeping. Paula was very helpful. We were lucky to be able to arrive at 12.00 rather than 16.00

Roomy, stylish and very comfortable house

This property met all our needs. We stayed there as host family for a wedding celebration and didn't want to leave! The beautiful open plan kitchen leads onto a lovely patio and garden space and was well utilised by all guests. The bedrooms and beds were very comfortable and there's lots of space with the downstairs reception rooms too. Really beautiful home with everything you could need. Great communication from the owners who really provide a home from home.

Lovely big house, fabulous garden, great location

We had a brilliant week in this lovely big house and garden. So much space indoor and out for kids (and adults!) to spread out and relax. Kids adored the trampoline - and really enjoyed picking (and eating) plums and tomatoes from the garden. Loved the style of the house with lovely floorboards throughout and great art on the walls. Nice 5 minute walk up to Tankerton beach (which we adore). Really useful row of shops up there too, including a lovely wine shop (and from that end of Tankerton it's a nice 15 minute stroll along the beach/ cliff top to JoJos restaurant and cafe which we liked). The other way from the house it's an easy 10 minute walk or 3 minute cycle ride into Whitstable for all that's on offer there. We were lucky with glorious weather and felt so relaxed by the time we left - the best measure of a holiday! Paula was great at communication before and during our stay and everything was very easy. Our only suggestion for improvement would be the beds/ bedding, which we didn't find all that comfy. But obviously it's a home not a hotel so that's not really a biggie - and that wouldn't stop us returning in the future :) Definitely recommend.

Beautiful house, bright, spacious, has everything you need

This is one of the nicest holiday lets we have been to - the house has been designed and done up to such a lovely standard, whilst feeling really homely. The kitchen has everything you need (in fact we took away some ideas of stuff we might like in our kitchen), there are so many games and toys, and the garden with its climbing frame and trampoline is brilliant. Perfect for a big group, and very child friendly . Location great too, short walk to beach and town. Would definitely come here again.

Kitchen and Garden are great

The kitchen, garden and location of this house are fabulous. We had a great girls weekend. The upstairs could do with a paint to freshen things up, and some of the mattresses were not to required standard which could do with being replaced. It would be a good idea to have a larger toaster, and also to leave washing up liquid, and a few dishwasher tablets as well as more perhaps some extra toilet rolls. Whitstable is fabulous, great for a weekend or holiday away.

Lovely spacious house by the sea

Stayed here with 6 of my friends and had a wonderful time. The handover from Paula was slick and all correspondance with her was good before our arrival. The house was fantastic; clean, spacious and very homely. The kitchen diner was the winner for us, we spent most of the weekend in here; eating, drinking, reading the papers and laughing! We also enjoyed a spot of reading in the sun on the decking area. The house is easy walking distance from Whitstable where we discovered all sorts of little shops and cafes. We enjoyed a delicious tapas lunch at JoJos, a very good evening meal at Birdies, great fish and chips on the harbour from The Fish Market and an evening beer in the sun on the beach at The Old Neptune. A perfect place to catch up with old friends. Thank Paula for letting us stay in your wonderful house. We'd love to come again!

Beautiful family home - great holiday location

The house was immaculate, well kitted out and a great space to spend some time with extended family. The kids loved the garden and running around and there were even toys to play with. The adults loved the kitchen space and the big fridge for all our food and drink!! Location is great and really easy to park and walk to the seaside. A perfect getaway and we'll be back i'm sure. Thanks for a great stay!

Lovely house.

I stayed here for Easter weekend with my husbands family, there was 8 adults and two babies. We had a lovely stay the house has brilliant amenities, great location in a quiet area. The downstairs is comfortable and as a family we spent a lot of time in the kitchen area. As this is where we could all be together. The pictures around the house gave us something to talk about. The bathroom facilities were excellent as well as the heating system very easy to use. We had some difficulty with the TVs but after a missed call I was called straight back with instructions. Great service. I feel the only negative would be the comfort of the beds. The double bed was fine, the single on its own is only suitable for the younger generation, one of the single beds mattress was uncomfortable. The two singles made into a double were not the most comfortable however the downstairs sofa bed was very convenient for our elderly grandad. This would not put us off coming back to the house but would make me consider how many adults we brought with us. Thanks for lovely staff.

Walton House is a perfect venue for families to get together as we did to celebrate my 60th birthday. The kitchen/diner is well equipped as is the rest of the house which easily accommodated eight adults and two children. We didn't really use the front room as we spent most of the time in the kitchen/diner. The house is in a very good location being in a quiet residential road minutes from the Tankerton shops and sea front. Whitstable itself is a ten minute walk away if that. The owners provided a really good service, always answering emails promptly and kept us well informed. The listing description was good although the kitchen/diner was larger than I expected which was great. The house had a very relaxed family feel. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives and would go back to Walton House.

Great House

Walton House is lovely. Very homely, peiceful and spacious and we enjoyed looking at the paintings and interesting selection of books and CD's. There was an excellent selection of toys and games for the children and the trampoline was a big hit! It's in great position being in a quiet residential area yet only a short walk into Whitstable centre and harbour, which was nearer than we expected. We had a fantastic holiday and all fell in love with Whitstable. We hope to come back to Whitstable again and wouldn't hesitate to stay at Walton house. Great house. Thank you.

About the host

Host profile image
This is our part time family home. We are a lively and creative family and the house is full of Ben's own artworks, and those of our friends and favourite artists.

Why they chose this property

We love Whitstable. We used to own the house immediately behind this one and love the area which is very central but quiet. Whitstable is only an hour from London, which is great for us, and also helps to make the town the cosmopolitan seaside 'village' that it is. Ben is an artist and we have many artist friends in Whitstable - you'll see a lot of their work around the town.

What makes this property unique

Walton House is 5 minutes walk from the beach and 8 minutes from Whitstable Harbour. Close enough to stroll to the beach and the boutiques and cafes of Harbour Street without ever having to get in the car, but at a safe enough distance to be able to escape the bustle of the town centre at the end of the day. Walton House is very spacious and has its own off street parking - essential in the height of summer - 2 reception rooms and large kitchen/dining room opening out onto the peaceful and shaded garden.
