Hollytree Cottage is a spacious three-bedroomed terraced home, conveniently placed in a lovely village in Devon’s South Hams.
Frogmore is a lovely little village at the head of one of the 'fingers' of the Kingsbridge Estuary. From the Cottage, turn left out of the front door and it is just over 100 metres to the slipway and the tidal creek. Walk across the stone bridge and across the road to the deli shop and The Globe pub and restaurant. This is very popular and serves a good range of food, both lunchtimes and evenings.
Hollytree Cottage provides an excellent base for beaches, boating and sailing, walking on the South Devon Coast Path or on Dartmoor, visiting historic towns such as Totnes and Dartmouth, enjoying the many local activity centres, or simply relaxing around the beautiful countryside and stunning coastline. Few villages in south Devon are as well located for choice.
The Cottage is comfortably furnished with a lounge\dining-room and a separate kitchen on the ground floor. There are two comfortable 'conservatory' chairs by the french windows, which open out onto a private patio area at the back of the cottage.
The patio area is a sheltered and sunny spot with 'Victoriana' style table and four chairs.
Upstairs there is a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and one single, and a bathroom\toilet with electric shower over the bath. The sleeping accommodation comprises one double and three single beds. A further single folding bed, suitable for a child, can be arranged if required.
The kitchen has a full-size electric oven and ceramic hob, fridge-freezer, automatic washing machine, microwave cooker and a good range of crockery and cutlery.
Heating is by electric convectors and storage heaters.. There is a Freeview and SMART catch-up TV and DVD player. Free WiFi is included.
There is plenty of space for parking in front of the cottage.
We can accept one family small pet dog, for an additional charge of £25 per week.
The next village of East Charleton has a petrol station and comprehensive SPAR shop, which combines ironmongers, grocers, newsagents, garden store, and DIY needs (although you might not need of these!) .
The market town of Kingsbridge is just three miles away and has a good selection of shops, galleries, stores, cafes and restaurants. Both Tescos and Morrisons have supermarkets in the Town.
The famous fishing and sailing town of Salcombe is about 20 minutes by car, or quicker by boat!
For beaches, try the sandy coves around East Portlemouth, which are about a 15 minute drive. The coves are lovely and you can set up camp on the beach, and then pop across to Salcombe on the passenger ferry, which runs continuously through the day and takes about 5 minutes. If you are a National Trust Member you can park your car for free at the Mill Bay capark - but get there early in the summer weeks ! There are other places to park as well.
Other beaches are at Torcross, North and South Sands at Salcombe, Blackpool Sands and Bigbury.
For other pastimes, there is sailing and kayaking at Salcombe or Bowcombe Creek (between Frogmore and Kingsbridge), a leisure centre and tennis at Kingsbridge, the children's Woodland Leisure Park on the road to Totnes. There is the old steam railway centre at Buckfastleigh, as well as the Abbey and visitors centre.
