About this property

Traditional Cotswold Stone Cottage, Winchcombe, Cotswolds Way.

No 5 is a cosy traditional cottage in an unrivalled position in the traditional Cotswold town of Winchcombe, decorated and furnished to a high standard so you can enjoy all the comforts of home, all within just a stone’s throw from all the local amenities.
Centrally located in the heart of Winchcombe. Vineyard Street is one of the most beautiful streets in the Cotswolds and leads to the drive of Sudeley Castle. Quite literally the infamous Cotswold Way passes the front door, along with many other easily accessible national trails. We are a perfect location for walking, cycling or simply relaxing as hard as you want to!
The town is a fabulous place to enjoy a romantic break or time exploring the area with friends or family. There are many great places to eat and many lovely food shops and a deli to purchase local produce and cook up a feast to enjoy back at the cottage in the lovely garden or cosied up in front of the fire.
The owners are local and are very happy to be on hand to recommend local walks, cycle routes or places to visit and eat.
The cottage has a secure rear garden, very suitable for dogs. Equipped with garden table and chairs, sun loungers and a BBQ.
There are plenty of walks right from the doorstep. The local pubs are all very dog welcoming ...

Lovely traditional cottage

Lovely traditional cottage, close to castle and all amenities. Let down by the weather but this is England. Unfortunately only a couple of places to eat at the time we were there as the corner cupboard was closed and so was the old bakery and plaisterers arms didn’t have a cook. lol cal Indian was amazing. Check in process was easy and hosts on other end of the phone if you needed anything

Fantastic little cottage in great location!

Lovely little cottage with parking. Little garden at the back is gorgeous. Great location in lovely Winchcombe. We were attending an event at Prescott hillclimb all week so it was very handy. The owner was so helpful and always on hand. Will be booking again.

Great location, let down by cleanliness

Great location with many walks from the doorstep, also close to shops and restaurants. Cottage let down by the cleanliness and the smell of dogs. The downstairs needs a deep clean with all the soft furnishings needing a wash, the bathroom white wear was clean however there was thick dust on the skirting boards, cobwebs and mould on the ceiling. The garden was enclosed and a great bonus but the photos were from years ago as the garden was overgrown, lots of weeds with no maintenance. We had to sweep the patio, scrub the patio table and chairs and clean the inside of the bbq from cobwebs before we could use it. The cottage itself is a lovely stone cottage and wouldn’t take much to make this it outstanding with tidying the garden, a deep clean of everything with redecorating the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable, lots of useful information especially for all the walks locally, easy check in and communication from the owner was great, kitchen was compact but had everything you needed. It is a bonus you can bring your dog (we also had a dog with us) and this cottage is obviously used by lots of dog owners. However this is apparent with the doggy smell as soon as you open the door. If you allow dogs to stay in the cottage this requires a deep clean after each visit. From the stains on the sofas, chairs and the smell of the cushions and blankets, dogs have used all of these. Such a shame as the cottage itself is lovely.

Perfect bolt hole

We’ve had an amazing stay over the new year break. Location is perfect just at the bottom of the lane leading to the castle. The spectacle of light event is worth recommending. The cottage is like the one from the Holiday movie, just perfect for a festive (not only) break. In the middle of the village so all restaurants within a few minutes. The cottage is just lovely, two lovely and comfortable bedrooms, great downstairs and we’ve used the gas stove for the extra coziness. The bottle of wine in the fridge was a welcome surprise, thank you. We had a fantastic and relaxing stay!

Excellent holiday let

A well appointed property with everything necessary to enjoy a marvellous short break. A point of special note were the very comfortable beds, which enabled the whole part to enjoy exceptional rest at night. A quiet location aoart from one lovely evening of church bells (practice?). Be very likely to look again at this property for our next break.

Break away in the Cotswolds with our pet dog 🐾

The cottage is absolutely beautiful in a picturesque street. We were blessed with lovely weather & was able to make full use of the pretty enclosed garden, completely dog friendly. We were so comfortable in the cosy cottage & a great base to explore the surrounding areas.

Our new 2nd home in Winchcombe

The moment we entered this enchanting, perfectly appointed cottage in the welcoming hamlet of Winchcombe we knew we had found a second home. Our week was ideal, as we came to know the town and the cottage provided a centralized and comfortable home base from which to hike, and visit nearby villages and historic sites. We could not be happier with the layout, furnishings, kitchen, and outside space. The beds are extremely comfortable and nights on the street are very quiet. The hostess welcomed us on our first day and explained the easy-to-use facilities. Our experience with vacation rentals includes flats and houses in Europe and the U.K. and this week was flawless. I am the guy who *always* asks for the other table and I have not a single complaint. Definitely consider this cottage if the location and size meet your needs, but please do not rent it on the week we will next return! (Again -- be SURE to dine and drink IN Winchcombe, you will NOT be disappointed! And the pubs and restaurants are a short walking distance, which we also love.)

Super stay

We chose this property for the location, dog friendliness and as a family of four adults (two parents, son, and daughter in law) we needed two double beds. We were impressed with all aspects of the house and location. The property is well equipped, stocked with essentials and the garden is delightful – we even enjoyed the barbeque. The beds are very comfortable and although it is dog friendly the place is well looked after and clean (unlike some dog-friendly places we have stayed). The local village is great and has everything you need. Sudeley Castle and various walking routes are right on the doorstep, we also enjoyed trips to Burton on the Water, Belas Knap long barrow, local viewpoints, Cheltenham city centre and plenty of local pubs for good food. The host has thought about what it is like to stay in the cottage and has taken care of visitor needs, making it a really lovely place to stay. The accommodation is value for money and I highly recommend it.

We had a great stay at no. 5. The weather was excellent so we enjoyed relaxing in the sunny garden and lots of walking around Winchcombe. It really is a lovely location both because it is the town so good access to facilities and walks all from the front door.

Hello, my husband Jim and I have lived in Winchcombe for since 2003 and we love the town, it has a great community spirit, very friendly, great pubs, restaurants, shops, deli, galleries and antique emporiums.
Jim is a really keen mountain biker (I dabble on the easier trails!) and we love walking our lovely pointer Tatti (short for Taitttinger!) and socialising with our friends. We love welcoming guests to the cottage and will be happily on hand for any advice required by our visitors. Any questions you have about the cottage and local area, please do not hesitate to contact us, we will be delighted to help ... Emma and Jim

Why they chose this property

We already live in the town and wanted to buy and second property as a holiday let business... Vineyard St is one of the most beautiful Cotswolds Streets and leads to the gates of Sudeley Castle

What makes this property unique

Vineyard Street is an unrivaled position in our small town, you can park for free on the street in front of the cottage and then everything is in very easy walking distance. Winchcombe is a truly unique town, where visitors quickly feel like locals and get to enjoy a real part of life in a Cotswold town
