About this property

Private outdoor pool, 3 terraces, perfect for skiing, hiking or relaxing

Casa Antonio is a spacious 7 bedroomed villa, of which 4 bedrooms open onto a terrace or balcony and most have fine views of the mountains and garden. There are indoor and outdoor areas for 12 to dine or relax together. The large pool has shaded seating, tables and a sun terrace.
The house and garden has plenty of space for children to play freely, while a secure gate stops children entering the pool and garden unsupervised. From the villa it's 10 minutes walk to the lively Andalusian pueblo, Talara, offering busy bars serving free (yes free!) tapas with every drink and shops providing local produce, including the best butcher in the valley. Day trips to the coast are a breeze, as are outings to Granada and the unmissable Alhambra Palace. The white villages of the Alpujarra are just as easily reached.

Our Spanish escape

We had a wonderful stay, the villa was super well equipped with anything one could need, it was relaxing and spacious. We had support when we needed it and were otherwise left to enjoy the fabulous pool and garden. Lots of lovely walks all around, a short trip to Grenada, some great waterfall hikes close by, something for everyonebyGrenadahrow

Mixed feelings.

Wow, such a mixed bag! Firstly the positives: the views are to die for! A good location within reasonable distance of Grenada including the beautiful Alhambra Palace, the beach and the airport. A really pretty garden with a super pool which was a good size and nice and deep for swimming, easily accessed by steps. There is a lockable gate to keep children away when not swimming. Lower ground floor space was great for people with young children (3 and 10 months) as no stairs going down and away from the noise of adults! Lots of bedrooms with ensuite shower rooms. Communication with the owner prior to the stay was very good. However, sadly the house is not living up to its full potential. Most of the furniture and the house in general appears tired, there were only 3 sun loungers, one of which broke the first time someone sat on it. All of the furniture and soft furnishings need replacing inside and out. The outdoor dining chairs were wooden slatted ones and not as shown on the photos. The house was cluttered and a bit of a mish mash which makes cleaning difficult. We had a lovely holiday but the house is not as amazing as it could be.

Amazing holiday!

The house is great, could do with some modernising but for the value it was incredible. The location is absolutely amazing, the views from the villa were the best we’d seen. The pool was brilliant too! The property owners communication is fantastic, the instructions to the villa were perfect. The owners can not do enough for you. We were incredibly comfortable and at home at the villa. The kids loved it! Also the food from the bread man is amazing! Worth chasing him down the street for!

Perfect house Perfect location

The house felt like home as soon as we arrived. Emma was there to greet us, a lovely lady and very helpful. The house was spacious with room for everybody. Our family ranged in age from 7 to 73! There were places to hide if you needed to.The kitchen was very well equipped with well stocked supermarkets not far away by car. Maria and her daughter were very friendly and made us a lovely lunch one Sunday afternoon. The three courses were delicious. The pool was the icing on the cake it was fantastic. It was great for playing in or for just relaxing by. We have no negatives to report.

Super, spacious villa. Great holiday.

Wowee! What an amazingly spacious, characterful villa with spectacular views, beautiful terraces and a fabulous pool. There were 9 in our party (aged 13 to 75) and the villa was so big we often lost each other in it. Plenty of bedroom/bathroom space, very well-equipped kitchen and ample seating for dining in or out. The pool was just what we needed to keep cool as temperatures soared to 37 for most of our time there. Yikes!! (The pool is a perfect temperature as it is heated all the time.) There is also a shady sofa area next to the pool too for when the sun is too much. Some of the outdoor furniture has probably seen better days and has obviously been well used over the years! A little gripe we had was that we needed to get the cleaning products and mop bucket out when we arrived as floors and surfaces inside and out and were covered in a layer of sandy dust?? However, this did not spoil our time there and we all had the most amazing 10 days. Emma was very helpful and responsive via whats app, and we even 'adopted' the local cream coloured cat while we were there. Supermarket was 5 minutes drive away and we found some lovely tapas bars in Neguelas. Chite is a great base for the visiting the mountains and the beaches too Definitely recommend this villa and would love to visit again. Xx

Lovely Villa in Chite

We have just returned from a wonderful two week holiday in this villa with all the family. So much space, very well equipped, a beautiful pool for the hot summer days, and terraces and barbecue for dining and sharing fun times together. Set in a quiet location with wonderful views across the valley, yet close enough to Talara for some beer and tapas! Shops handy also. Visited the stunning Alhambra and some lovely local villages, Durcal and Niguelas both worth a visit if you fancy a walk through the narrow streets, and the trip to the beach at Salobrena was lovely both for the drive there and the sea itself. Thank you to Marijke for all the local information, and her assistance with any questions we had, and to Emma for her help when we arrived so late. We loved the villa and would happily come back again.

Great family holiday

A great house with lovely garden and pool. The communal rooms are very spacious and having Emma, who looks after the house, on hand was very good. Would suggest a car as the nearest shops/restaurants were a 20 minute walk and there is also a lot to see. Would recommend this property for large families or groups as there are lots of space and amenities

Spanish escape

A very characterful house, plenty of space for 10 of us. Particularly enjoyed the two large shady terraces for lunch and dinners. Nice bathrooms with local tiles. A good pool to cool off. Explored a bit of the area. Good fast road for easy access to both Granada and the coast. Had a lovely holiday, with something for everyone from 76 to 3 - great tapas, sun, sea and sangria, pottery, hot springs, amazing daily bread van, WiFi good, village v quiet.

Room for Improvements

We had a great time in the house and loved the Lecrin valley, none of the below comments stopped us from having a happy & lovely family holiday. The below is meant as useful & constructive criticism. The kitchen was very well equipped and we loved our terrace meals and the heated pool meant the kids spent hours in the water which was great, what a brilliant idea to have the water solar heated. Emma couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our family time in your house and exploring the local area. Thank you too for your helpful notes / books on the area etc. Mark and I and our two kids were in the downstairs area, in bedroom next to the “ play room “ on the ground floor. The room was shabbily dressed and hadn’t been given much decorative attention, When we opened our window on to the garden there was a dirty looking rug rolled up, along side a high chair and a bed with a mattress that didn’t look like it was supposed to be used. They all looked they had been dumped there. The brown sheets reminded me of the 1970’s and didn’t make us feel too good either. Our two kids were in the play room, luckily they are both little, but I wouldnt have been happy if they had been adults, as the room was a cut through and there was no privacy - so I wouldnt consider this a bedroom. The top sheet was a duvet cover, which barely covered them. None of the above prevented us from having a good time ........

Perfect for our family

My wife and I flew into Granada (a friendly-sized airport) and spent two nights in Granada next to the Alhambra - well worth a visit. We arrived ahead of the family - 3 of 7 years or less and 2 teenagers, the rest parents with us grand-parents - and we found we had plenty of room and plenty of equipment for catering for ourselves, good-sized fridge/freezer and a large Mercadona (supermarket) 10 minutes away. Pool and garden were lovely and kept everybody happy. The only issue was the winding, narrow road (about 1k) down to Lower Chite, the last part of the journey to the villa with limited passing places if you happen to meet a car coming the other way. Don't be tempted to go the way the Satnav would suggest, however, unless you have a Fiat 500 sized car: the narrow roads in the village are very scary and it's easy to get completely stuck! Lovely part of the world, dramatic scenery on the edge of the Alpujarra region south of the Sierra Nevada - particularly interesting if you are (like me) a Chris Stewart fan ('Driving over Lemons' etc).

Ideal Family Holiday!!!

We had all had a fantastic 2 week break. The villa was perfect for all our needs. A big family holiday with a 3 year old to a 76 year old! Plenty of space so the 11 of us weren't on top of each other, room layout perfect. The pool was a BIG hit with all especially for a cool off in the sun and sit reading in the shade. A great location to explore the area - local villages for lunch etc, the mountains, Granada - something for all. A big thank you to Marijke, Emma and Richard for all your help! We highly recommend!!!!!

Lovely house and garden

Great ambience and the sun terrace is a great place to eat and chat ( we visited in April). Very comfortable house to stay in with a huge kitchen. There were 10 of us in the party and that worked well. However, the bedrooms downstairs are not as nice and felt quite cold as we were early in the year. The furnishings in the house are a bit tired and the garden furniture needs updating.

Fantastic location, brilliant views

In terms of location, this was perfect. There were 12 of us, ranging from 19 to 68 on a family holiday for my birthday. The views are fantastic, breathtaking in fact. It is located in a small village about ½ an hour from Grenada. It has a great sized pool which was solar powered and was like jumping into a bath when we went there in July. Marjike was very helpful with dealing with our enquiries prior to our holiday and sent some useful information prior to our stay. There is an information booklet in the villa which needs updating as it states that everywhere is shut on a Sunday which isn’t the case. The main supermarket is about 5 minutes away by car and stocks pretty much everything you need. And, best of it is…..food/drink was cheap as chips as it is out of the tourist area. For 12 adults, we ate and drank like kings and queens for the full week. We have budgeted food and drink at £100 a person but it actually worked out at £75 per person (and we got through a lot of wine and beer!). If you walk into the village there are various local bars and for each drink you order, you get a free tapas (in one of the bars we went to, we actually got a choice of about 8!). These are almost like light lunches rather than finger food. We had lots of variety including paella, mini burgers and fries, pasta with bolognaise, chorizo…..the list goes on). We did not see any other holiday makers as it is effectively off the beaten tourist track which suited us completely. There are a few ex-pats that live around that area (don’t blame them) which included Emma who was on call if we needed anything. There are also a number of mini supermarkets in the village which stock most things. Be sure to go to the garage as it seems to stock absolutely everything including beautiful pottery. We didn’t find the butchers until the last day and having had a peak through the window, I would definitely recommend seeking this out first. So, all in all, a fantastic holiday, if you want sun and relaxation in a fantastic setting. There were a few downsides which were a bit disappointing. The property is very tired and lacking in TLC. In our bedroom the mattress was stained, all bedding in all rooms was very old and in need of an upgrade. In the downstairs area, there are three rooms but this is almost like a self contained area of the house with a mini kitchen section. Downside of this is part of the house is that the beds were awful. My sister and her husband had

Perfect Family Holiday in Spain

We've just returned from a great week in Chite! The house is perfectly set up for families or groups of friends, with loads of space, nice bedrooms and a great garden and pool. It's even better than the photos! From the house we were able to easily visit Granada, nearby towns and villages and the beaches. We had great weather the whole time we were there, over 30 degrees and sunny every day. The owners and neighbours were very accommodating and very helpful with loads of great tips for places to visit, markets, restaurants and bars. We couldn't recommend this place highly enough, and will definitely be returning for another holiday!

Perfect villa, beautiful location. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to explore the Lecrin Valley.

We rented this villa for eleven days, there were 13 of us in total ranging from 1to 45years old. The villa was plenty large enough, even space to avoid the madness. From start to finish it was an easy experience, the owner replied to emails quickly and the housekeeper made us all very welcome nothing was an inconvenience she even popped in to inform us of local events. You will need a car to explore this beautiful area, a particular highlight for us was the cave houses. We found the villa information guide very useful. Highly recommend this area for people who really want the Spanish experience.

Lovely spacious house ideal for large families

Nice quiet location. Pool was lovely and walks through on the doorstep orange groves were great. House was very large and well equipped and we all enjoyed the space and style. Village nearby had nice feel to it. Good location for trips especially Granada. Great place for lazy days and would suit a group of families as the layout lends itself well to having good shared areas and the ability to have a bit of private space.

great little hidden gem

Tucked away in a sunny valley dripping with Orange and Lemon trees below the Sierra Nevada, this house was a superb find. We came here as a big group and as such each of us needed our own space. There's plenty of that - with the lower ground and 1st floor separated by a cool communal ground floor which includes a massive kitchen and diner, a beautiful shaded terrace to squeeze your own oranges (they supply the squeezer and the oranges!!) and a large sitting room with nice central log burner. The master bedroom has the most ridiculously beautiful balcony view and there is an extra level for gin and tonics at sundown. The pool provides a very welcome break from the sun and is surrounded by a stunning colourful garden. The house let us chill comfortably and was in great condition, and for those in need of access to their mod-cons, the wifi was excellent (even with 9 of us accessing internet intermittently) and there is a really good collection of DVD's if you just wanted to chill out in the evening. For the more active visitor there is plenty to do locally - we hired mountain bikes from Monachil near Granada and rode across the Sierra Nevada (1700m of climbing and awesome descents), used the bikes with the house for trips up the hill (5 minutes cycle) to get bread and meat from the awesome Carniceria/panaderia, whilst my brothers went for a morning of snow boarding (less than an hour away). The coast is only 40 minutes to the south, the Alhambra only 40 minutes to the north and we'll be back to check out the rest of the area. Wish we had more time!! Thank you to our lovely hosts for your tips and guidance on what to do and where.

Paradise Found

We have just come back from a week’s holiday at Casa Antonio and what a week we had celebrating the birthdays of three of our group of eight….all ladies of a certain age! From the minute we stepped through the doors of this amazing villa we knew that we were in for a truly Spanish experience. Breakfast on the balcony, taking in the fragrance of all the fruit trees and flowers in the garden, lunch by the pool which lapped like the sea, and evening meals watching the sun set over the hills and terracotta roof tops. Arriving on a bank holiday weekend meant the shops were shut but this was no problem thanks to Emma who looks after the villa for the owners and who greeted us with all the necessary supplies and lots of useful information for our stay. Not that we needed to worry much about shopping for food. We were invited to use any of the fruit and veg in the garden so we feasted on oranges, lemons, the largest spring onions you’ve ever seen, broad beans and leeks. …oh and bread from the bread man every morning and wine from the Waitrose-style supermarket in Durcal at 2.5 euro a bottle! One very useful tip on walking to the nearest town,Talara – go via the road to Upper Chite as it’s much safer than the car route particularly at night. We wanted to do something special and Spanish as a surprise for one of our birthday girls who was celebrating her actual birthday whilst we were there. It had to be a lesson in Flamenco dancing accompanied by Spanish guitar and thanks to Sara, the owner of the villa, we were able to make it happen. We had hired two cars from a local company just outside Malaga which we collected via the courtesy bus service at the airport – better than queuing for ages at the airport car rental desks. This meant we could fulfill a lifetime ambition for one of our group – a visit to the Alhambra Palace. As befits its remarkable place in history, this is both iconic and beautiful. One tip – book online before you go – less queuing! We were also able to tackle the Monachil Gorge walk – expect 7 hanging bridges - ‘I’m a Celebrity’ style – and hand rails to get you past the rocks overhanging the gorge path. Not for the fainthearted but what amazing views and an incredible sense of achievement at the end! One final highlight – the Wednesday market in Durcal. Head for the herbs and spices stall and there is a veritable feast of choice. The ‘cooking chicken’ stand is also a must.

Bliss

We arrived on the Sunday afternoon and the family didn't really move much for a week. The house is really beautiful - full of lovely little touches that raise it way above your average rental. The kitchen is well-stocked with pans and crockery so we ate in almost every night. The butcher in the village was a particular highlight and the BBQ was put to good use. We also used quite a few of the oranges from the garden for breakfast juice. I love how there are sofas everywhere - you can read your book sprawled on the sofa in the kitchen or the day bed on the lower ground terrace and not be interrupted by the group playing games by the poolside or the upper terrace. With 10 in our group, it was a perfect spot for those who wanted to do stuff - mountain biking, snowboarding, trip to AlHambra - whereas those who just wanted to hang around in the garden and by the pool could do that too. We didn't find anywhere particularly brilliant to eat out in the village, although the fish restaurant we were recommended at the nearest beach of Salobrena was AMAZING - fresh fish charcoal grilled on the beach. A lovely place to hangout for a week - my mother declared this her favourite holiday ever - and the house played a key part in making this happen. What a bargain.

Fabulous house

I had an awesome holiday here with my fiancee and his family, especially as we had a mini heat wave! There were 10 of us in total. It is in a lovely location - quiet and rural and about a 10minute walk to the nearest town. It is surrounded by orange and lemon trees which makes it so vibrant and lovely. The garden is beautiful and I enjoyed many hours lounging by the pool, and going for little dips to cool down. We also had a stunning cycle ride around the area but it's was tough going as there are hills everywhere! We also visited the Sierra Nevada (30mins away) and had an incredible day mountain biking - this gave us a good excuse to drink more of the delicious wine and eat more delicious cheese and meats! Highly recommend staying here.

Gorgeous House Gorgeous Holiday

We have just had the most lovely Easter family holiday at Casa Antonio this is a lovely property in Lower Chite village 30 mins drive from Granada. The Granada Andalucia region is a lovely part of the world and the orange and lemon trees that line the drive post motorway from Malaga down to lower Chite make for a really pretty scenic start to the holiday. The house was perfect for us (we went for a holiday with various family including my grandmother aged 91 down to my daughter aged 3!) and we had everything we needed in this large and nicely furnished property. All mod cons. Also it is very clean (my grandmother cares about such things!). Love the orange juice press - coffee grinder etc.. we ate so well here - cooked some huge meals in the house with all the lovely local produce including bread from a local bread man who pulls up near the house each morning and fish from another van in the same road (that was a Saturday morning). The garden is gorgeous too - so many lovely flowers and more orange trees - making a beautiful setting after the BBQ area heading down to the pool. Another great thing about his house is the ample seating provisions and places to have large delicious group lunches/dinners. Plus there is a lovely new big barbecue. Also there is a bathroom for every bedroom so no getting in each others way - most rooms are en-suite. The house is spread over 3 spacious floors so plenty of room to spread out. The pool area is brilliant with covered seating so you don't burn in the hot Granada sunshine when you are not swimming though if you do want to then you can lay on one of the loungers on the poolside. Talara just up the hill from the house is great - little grocers shops, great butchers and a few bars. We followed the instructions in the very useful house notes provided by the owner and went to Nochas Azul for drinks and tapas on a couple of evenings (including the Sunday for the amazing roasted pork). We also went to the pizza restaurant for a really fun evening while the Barcelona / Real Madrid game was on - great night! You are only 30 mins here from visiting Granada itself and the beautiful palace - Granada is a fab city for evenings too - full of restaurants and bars. We had the best holiday and would recommend this property xxxxx

Wonderful stay with friends and family!

We had an amazing time at Casa Antonio. We’ve spent 5 days here to celebrate the New Year’s with family and friends. We were a group of 8 adults and 3 small children and the house couldn’t be more perfect for us! It is very spacious and it is great for big families because each room gives us enough privacy. Kitchen is spacious and it is well equipped with almost everything you’ll need, from appliances, utensils to spices! Communication with Finn was super great and also with Emma, who is the local point of contact. She is very responsive and attended to our needs very quickly. One thing that can be hugely improved is the cleanliness of the house, although I understand that keeping a house of that size very clean is definitely be a challenge. Overall, it was a great experience and we really enjoyed our time there. Thank you for everything, Finn and Emma!

Hi, my name is Marijke. My parents live here in Chite (pronounced "Cheetay") during the winter months but return to England in the summer. They would like people to enjoy staying in their home during the summer months and make use of the pool and garden, so I'm here to help run the rental side. Please get in touch with any questions. We look forward to hearing from you.

Why they chose this property

Our family wanted an easy place to escape to where it was warm, where we could swim, garden, cook and relax with friends and family. We love the variety the area has to offer: Chite is in a beautiful, tranquil setting in a valley surrounded by citrus groves, and with the convenience of town shops and markets close by. A short drive can take you to the culture and life in Granada, or up high to the mountains of the Sierra Nevada, or to the subtropical climate down at the beach. Here you can appreciate a more laid back way of life, enjoy both culture and nature, or simply be comfortable at home lounging in the shade by the pool. Steeped in rural charm, Chite is a world away from the UK but only an hour and half's drive from Malaga or thirty minutes from Granada.

What makes this property unique

The villa has the benefit of being a spacious family home that is well loved, considered and functional. Every effort has been made to help life here run smoothly. The house and garden is on three levels offering plenty of different spaces where you can choose to spend your time, either in the sun or shade, alone or with your group. Whether taking in the morning views across the valley or gathering for your evening barbecue whilst catching the last rays of sun, it really is a joy to be in.
