The property was perfect. It had everything we wanted.
And what a perfect location from which to visit Northumbria, North Yorkshire, Durham Coast, and the Dales. We visited them All.
Teesdale is beautiful, and Caroline Cottage was perfect.
The property was beautifully located on the village green in a very quiet location but within easy reach of some great spots. Everything in the cottage was well maintained and the kitchen was well equipped.
We would not hesitate to recommend Caroline Cottage and will visit again to see all of the sights we missed this time.
This is a lovely cottage in a fantastic location, it feels very homely and welcoming especially as we had the log burner lit most evenings after long walks, everything was immaculate and very well maintained
Our second visit within 6 months and won't be our last this year. The cottage is lovely, spotlessly clean and very cosy. The welcome pack for us and our dogs was most welcome. Coal and logs were ready for our use so we had a lovely fire on our first evening. The location is great for lovely long walks with the dogs, scenery very picturesque too. Hotel serves gorgeous food all homemade....be wise to pre book as it is very popular. As I said we will be back as it is a very special place.
Excellent village location, very quiet with numerous walks available around Teesdale. Romaldkirk is uniquely unspoiled and pretty and Caroline cottage has a wonderful view of the village green and beyond.
Just pulling up in the car outside the cottage I knew it was going to be lovely and I was right. Everything was spotless and clean. The welcome pack was an added bonus too. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the equipment you would ever need for your stay. Romaldkirk is lovely, loads of stunning walks. The Fox and Hounds pub is a very friendly place and food is wonderful but try and pre book as they are busy. Loads to see and do from this location and we will definitely be going back. Finally, it is a dog lovers paradise, enjoy.
Caroline Cottage was spotlessly clean upon arrival. It is a wonderful cottage set in the most beautiful village. Two pubs, the Rose and Crown , is a highly rated foodie pub and we were so lucky to get a table. I suggest you book in advance. Excellent food and service. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this cottage. Very traditional and comfortable for exploring the area. Barnards Castle was lovely, Raby Castle and High Force waterfall lower and upper all amazing. Thank you x
Brilliant in all ways apart from rather unpleasant neighbour who shouted over the fence as the presence of my dogs where making hers bark!!!! ( mine had been in the courtyard for 5 mins that morning and for the rest of the day where out on 12 mile walks). Totally unreasonable and unnecessary.
Lovely comfortable cottage overlooking green in village, ideal for two adults with children and or pet, plenty walks in area and short walk to pub for meal
A very clean and well presented cottage, very peaceful and relaxing break, lovely location.

Lovely cosy cottage with everything you would need.
Nicely decorated and furnished. Great Welcome pack with lots of information on where to go and what to do. The cottage has everythig one needs to make your stay as pleasurable and enjoyable as possible. there are some great walks direct from the property. We had a fairly wet/dull week so the paths were quite muddy but this was on top of months of rain and and late snow so to be expected. We would definately come back again.

Beautiful Tranquil Cottage
Had a fantastic stay at Caroline Cottage. The cottage is beautiful and unspoilt and has all amenities required. It is in a beautiful, tranquil unspoilt village - the best village we saw in the area and the area itself is beautiful, tranquil and unspoilt - a cross between the Lake District (without the hordes) and the Yorkshire Dales.

comfortable and cosy cottage for 4 in idyllic village
Our family of 4 stayed in Caroline Cottage for a week. We booked at the last moment and Gillian was very accommodating and helpful. The cottage is fitted out like a home which was lovely and the comfy seating in the dining room meant there are 2 available 'lounge' areas which is great for a family. The beds were comfortable and the pillows just right for us - always a tricky thing in rentals. The cottage's location on the village green is beautiful and the walks from the front door were super. We would have liked to stay on and would definitely recommend Caroline Cottage.
My name is Gillian. My family and I fell in love with Caroline Cottage and the area of Teesdale. During our holiday we found a quaint cottage up for sale in the pretty village of Romaldkirk. It was perfect, just what we'd dreamed of. My husband was also delighted that there were two pubs in the village, a minutes walk from the front door!! We knew we had a lot of hard work ahead of us, after all she is 200 years old. It has been a labour of love but well worth it and now we have a cosy cottage which we hope our guests will find warm and inviting.
Why they chose this property
Romaldkirk is a quaint village tucked away in the unspoilt Durham Dales. It boasts three village greens on one of which the old stocks still remain and a beautiful old church often called The Cathedral of the Dales. 2 Public houses within a 2 minute walk from Caroline Cottage.
The village has two pubs, one with a very popular restaurant and the other situated on the village green with outdoor seating and which is very popular with the numerous walkers who flock to the village. From the cottage a short walk across fields brings you to the lovely and sometimes quite wild River Tees.
High Force - the largest Waterfall in England Barnard Castle - A historical market town Raby Castle - where the deer roam freely Bowes Museum - with hidden delights Hamsterley Forest - great for exploring and finally the route for the Pennine Way
