Comfortable, well equipped accommodation.
Hosts very welcoming and helpful with suggesting places to visit. Central location for what we wanted to see.
Views of open countryside with the Cheviot hills in the distance. Various of birds on the bird feeders, which you see at close quarters.
Great place to stop, would highly recommend as a bolt hole to visit so many castles and stately homes within 30 minutes.
Our hosts Gerald and Roz were exceptional and the hospitality they gave us throughout our visit was fantastic.
The property was a perfect size for a couple and was well fitted out with everything you could want. The hosts were nearby if needed.e views from the property are stunning and add something v special.
Fantastic location for discovering the Cheviots. Well equipped house & very friendly/helpful hosts
We enjoyed the stunning view from the property that has a great location for walking directly from the front door as well as being a short drive to the hills beyond. Gerald supports the local bird life with seed feeders and seed provided for guests to enjoy watching the birds literally outside the window. We would happily return.
We enjoyed staying here. We wished to visit Lindisfarne the Farne Islands Berwick and Craster and here you are not more than 30/40 minutes drive away. Similarly the Cheviots are about a 15 minute drive away so you can have the best of both worlds. Gerald and Roz are excellent hosts.. We would be happy to stay again..
Away from mainstream but set between Cheviots and coast was perfect. Beautiful living room. with superb view across to hills. Bit awkward with (well equipped) kitchenette downstairs and could be tricky for some but no problems for us. Really enjoyed.
The Annex was a lovely place to stay with fantastic views The feeders outside the lounge windows were amazing to see, with a woodpecker, nut hatch, siskins and finches all coming regularly. It was also very comfortable to relax in the evening. We will definitely be back for another holiday.
Many thanks
Lovely apartment Well equipped given Covid constraints. Huge garden with lots of interest for those interested in wild life. Friendly and helpful owner. I did not receive access details and felt quite fraught after a long hot journey not being able to gain access...but eventually found a key under the doormat. A lovely week.
This is a nice property, well equipped with fantastic views and birdlife. It's a good base to explore the area, both coast and countryside.
During our stay the sofa was replaced (not because we complained) but the new one was so much more comfortable. We also found the bed very comfortable - an added bonus
Downstairs is just the compact kitchen and entrance area. Everything is upstairs and the staircase ,which is on a bend, might prove difficult for anyone with restricted mobility. The dining table is upstairs, so unless the weather is good enough to eat outside, you'll need to carry trays of food up these stairs. Not an issue for us but could be for some.
Great hosts, really friendly and helpful. Great location mid-way between the Cheviot hills and the coast. Good cycling territory. Slightly quirky accommodation (tiny kitchen on ground floor; first floor: small bedroom with double (not king-size) bed but plenty of drawer space with wardrobe on landing; shower room (no bath) with plenty of hot water; good sized living room). Overall comfortable and with great views over the countryside from the living room. Really enjoyed our stay.

Views to die for
This was an ideal destination for touring Northumberland and also Scotland. The Accomadation was 5 Star, and being a retired carpenter enjoyed the amount of oak that was used in the cottage and the high standard of finish. There was nothing lacking at all in the kitchen and the bed was very comfortable.
The WiFi was a little weak in some areas of the cottage but the views from the windows made up for that.

A very clean and comfortable holiday cottage
Our stay at Roz and Geralds' Tilery Cottage Annexe was a necessity rather than a holiday but we were extremely comfortable for the three weeks we were there. The views from the living room windows toward the Cheviot Hills were beautiful in all weathers. The added attraction were the bird feeders outside the living room window which attracted a variety of different birds including Woodpeckers fairly regularly and a Nuthatch on one occasion.
During the good weather while we were there, we were able to sit out in the designated garden for the annexe enjoying the sunshine and the views. We also enjoyed various country walks in the area - beautiful in the springtime! Chatton is a small village but interesting to walk around and we would recommend a visit to the old and very beautiful Holy Cross Church which has a history dating back to Norman times.
Roz and Gerald were very friendly and hospitable and made sure we were comfortable. We would definitely recommend a holiday at Tilery Cottage.

About the host
Hosted by Roz and Gerald Dickinson
Tilery House has been in the ownership of the Dickinson family since the early 1960's. The property was lovingly renovated from 2003 - 2007 so that we can continue to enjoy the benefits of living in Chatton. Positive comments from guests constantly remind us how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful & tranquil place. We have invested a huge amount of time, thought & effort into the renovation of Tilery House in an effort to retain the character & beauty of the property. Our love of natural materials such as stone, slate and oak have influenced both the interior and exterior of the property. Guests have commented upon the attention to detail. The Annexe is a cosy home from home with lots of paintings hanging & high quality furnishings.
Why they chose this property
When the opportunity to buy Tilery House (& The Annexe) with its outstanding views arose, we snapped it up. The dream of living in a rural location with a huge variety of wildlife visiting the garden has surpassed our expectations. Last year we had over a hundred different birds including woodpeckers, nuthatch, tree creeper and various tits and finches, many feeding just outside the living room window. Owls, partridge, pheasants, boxing hares and occasionally deer visit the 1.5 acre garden. Walking to the pub in the village and standing on the old stone bridge, I have been fortunate enough to see otters.
Walking home on a clear night you will definitely be treated to a velvety black star filled sky and if you are particularly lucky the uplifting sight of a shooting star.
What makes this property unique
The beauty of The Annexe is its central location which enables guests to explore in a different direction every day, whether it be walking by a river in the National Park (4 miles away), cycling on deserted roads (we have bikes you can borrow), horse riding (beach rides are available locally), visiting castles, golden sandy beaches, National Trust properties, country houses, or walking in the Cheviots. There is fishing a very short walk away or I have a stretch of river in Wooler which you can use. Locally there are golf courses, tennis courts archaeological sites and much much more. Round your day off with a bar meal and head home to relax in the comfort of the Annexe.
If you would like to go to a nightclub or rave, north Northumberland is probably not for you. Hope to meet you soon
