Amazing home from home.

Property was exactly as advertised. It’s beautifully kept by the owners. The kitchen is really well equipped for self catering. It’s easy to get to and from the motorway and a great location for exploring the local area. Recommend doing the Honister Slate Mine, Keswick, Kayaking on Derwent water and Aira force waterfall. Will definitely look to go back and would stay here 😃.

Immaculate cottage in beautiful village - highly recommended

This cottage was perfect in almost every way. It is located in a quite village in beautiful countryside. It is well-equipped and very comfortable. It is a little further away from major Lake District locations than some would consider ideal but is still within easy driving distance of them.

Homely stay at a peaceful area

We choose Pottery cottage for its close by lakes and locations that we like to explore and it was perfect. Sarah has been quick and helpful communicating and welcoming. The property was immaculately clean, accurately described at website, kitchen well equipped, living room specious then it looks in the picture, beautiful garden. our 8 year old enjoyed board games. Nearest M&S food hall was 10-12 min away. It is good base to visit surrounding -Pooley bridge, Ullswater was 25 min away. Glenridding 34 min and Keswick less then half an hour, Ambleside 47 min away. The village is quite , peaceful, local pub was 2 min walk. We loved and enjoyed our stay ; recommend to friends too.

Lovely Lake District Cottage

Clean, tidy 2-story cottage with beautiful window views and a great location for visiting Lake District sights. Friendly, welcoming, helpful hosts with wonderful sightseeing advice. My only suggestions would be for a small coffee table in front of the couch to set down drinks as you watch the TV. And maybe some bathroom soap or body wash for us long distance travelers. All in all, we had a very comfortable, pleasant stay! Thank you.

Our 5 night visit

The cottage is absolutely lovely, well stocked with absolutely everything you need. Everything is high quality. Everything matches. The only downside for us was the listing says "the thriving local pub" is in fact now a Michelin, reservation-required, and busy, restaurant. So be prepare to drive for your happy hour and dinner if you are not dining at home. (I understand it is quite an honour to be Michelin listed, and thus may actually be a bonus to staying at the Cottage).

Superb accommodation in a quiet location

The accommodation is superb, well equipped and the owners, who live next door, were friendly and helpful throughout. The pub across the road has tremendous food- really top notch. We visited Derwentwater - 25 mins - and Threlkeld - 20 mins - so the cottage us in a good location for touring the northern lakes. We really enjoyed the stay, thank you

Pottery cottage is far lovelier than the pictures. Perfect location, immaculately clean and equipped

Pottery Cottage is ideally situated to explore the northern Lakes and upper Eden valley. Although only 5 minutes off junction 41/M6 and A66 to Keswick, it is in a quiet location away from the tourist hubs. The cottage is extremely well equipped with all you need for a self catering holiday. Beds are comfortable and the lounge dining area is light and spacious, with a beautiful outlook into Sandra and James gorgeous garden. The quiet village pub is a stones throw from the end of the drive, a delightful hostelry serving good beer and excellent food at reasonable prices. We will use this cottage again without hesitation.

We have lived in Cumbria for over 20 years having moved from Cheshire for work and fell in love with this beautiful area. It has been a fantastic place to bring up our family, giving us amazing opportunities on our doorstep. We are now retired and the children have flown the nest. We still love where we are and it is great to welcome returning and new guests alike to our lovely cottage and even better when they enjoy this perfect piece of England as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

We were looking for a lifestyle choice in rural Cumbria and found it in Skelton. An unspoiled village with easy access to the lakes and fells and local towns including Penrith and Carlisle.

What makes this property unique

The cottage is very well located to access the Northern lakes and fells and the local gateway towns of Penrith and Keswick are within a short drive. We have many repeat visitors who love the convenience of the area and the peacefulness of being away from the crowds. Our Village pub, the Dog and Gun, boasts a Michelin star and has won many awards for their superb food.. Penrith our local town is relatively unspoiled with a variety of independent shops and traders. It has an "old style” independent cinema too which is well worth a visit. The area is great for cycling and you can be underneath Blencathra before you know it on an afternoon or evening cycle ride. Also we have a couple of "open air lidos" nearby - summer only!
