About this property

East Wing Of Beautiful 17th Century Grade II Listed Knighton Farmhouse

The Brew House contains a comfortable living room with oak floor, inglenook fireplace (with bread oven) and Charnwood wood-burning stove. The dining table seats four, but there are extra chairs if needed. A fully equipped kitchen also contains a dining table. There are two bedrooms, the twin room accessed through the main bedroom, making this an ideal arrangement for children. In the twin room there is a proper wooden cot in addition to two single beds. (We can accommodate up to two children plus one infant). The main bedroom has a king-size double bed. Linens are all new and of excellent quality and beds will be made up for you on arrival. Your electricity is powered by the Isle of Wight sunshine, as we have a good solar installation here for the whole house. The biomass boiler provides plenty of warmth in the winter and there's always lots of hot water too! We have recently been awarded a Gold award for Isle of Wight Green Tourism. There is plenty of information in The Brew House of the many, many attractions and activities on the Isle of Wight, and we are usually around too, to give ideas and recommendations. We also have a selection of bikes (including a tandem), a sit-on-top kayak and wetsuits that we are happy for you to borrow. Please note that in the high season (July and August ) bookings are for full weeks only, Friday - Friday.

A lovely place to stay

Ali gave us a very warm welcome and was really helpful during our stay. The Brew House was comfortable and full of character, peaceful too. We were left a very generous assortment of goodies and especially loved the homemade cake. We would certainly recommend the property and hope to return.

‘Just felt like home’

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Ali and David are outstanding hosts. During our stay my 7 year old said ‘why does it feel like home?’. As soon as you walk through the cottage door you will feel relaxed and ready to enjoy your stay. The welcome basket really made us smile and we quickly cracked open the bubbles and enjoy the homemade flapjacks.

Brew House for a Week

Excellent. Well equipped, clean and tidy conversion of an attractive old building, set in an attractive rural position. Well placed for access to the island, and a good walking centre. Also the most generous welcome package.

Perfect family holiday

Ali and David are wonderful hosts and the property is so welcoming and perfect for a family. From the home baked treats in the welcome basket to the fabulous selection of toys and games for the kids, we couldn't have stayed somewhere lovelier or better equipped! The location was great as a base to explore the island from and it was lovely to return each evening to the comfy sofas or chill out in the courtyard garden. Fantastic!

Our stay at The Brewhouse

This was one of the best holiday experiences I’ve had first because the Brewhouse is a beautifully designed 17 c cottage with every care taken to provide for your stay but also our hosts, Ali and David, surpassed all expectations in looking after us. They couldn’t have been more hospitable: transporting us to and fro from the Ferry, sorting bikes for us to borrow and giving us a lovely welcome basket of homemade goodies to start our time there. Close to the Red Squirrel cycle trail it’s an excellent spot from which to explore the beautiful IOW countryside.

Perfect cottage for a family getaway

Perfect cottage for a family getaway on the Isle of Wight. Ali and family are very welcoming hosts, with a beautiful welcome basket provided and help with any info needed. We stayed with our 3 yr old and the property had literally everything you would want to make you feel comfortable and safe with a little one- enclosed courtyard garden, stair gates, bed rails, highchair and a treasure trove of toys to keep them occupied! Perfectly situated on the island for easy access to lots of local attractions, would recommend to anyone looking for a home away from home!

Fantastic!

From the moment we booked Ali couldn't have been more helpful. From sorting the ferry to sending welcoming texts. Then on our arrival the little extras including all the immediate essentials together with cake & jam made our stay at the Brew House all the more special. David organised the bikes for all five of us at a moments notice which was so kind. We would definitely recommend this beautiful cottage.

A wonderful week in the Isle of Wight

I have just spent a fantastic week with my family at The Brewhouse, Isle of Wight.. Ali Cripps, the owner, was very welcoming and supplied some tasty treats for us, including home -made cake! The Brewhouse was spotless and very well equipped, particularly for my 2 year old granddaughter who loved all the toys and puzzles available. The location is incredibly peaceful and we were fortunate with the weather so made the most of enjoying breakfast in the delightful courtyard garden. The Brewhouse is well-placed to easily access the Islands many attractions and we had some great days out. All in all a perfect summer holiday!

A stunning property in a beautiful setting. Ideal location for exploring the Isle of Wight

A fantastic property in a beautiful rural location. Stayed for 3 days with my 70+ yr old mother and 2 young children. The brew house was very comfortable and very well equipped and Ali had provided a welcome basket with delicious home baked cake and treats and local produce. Ali and David were wonderful hosts, helpfully recommending places to visit and dine at. They provided buckets and spades and fishing nets for the children to use and equipped us with bikes and helmets to explore the stunning local countryside. We would definitely recommend staying at the Brew house at any time of the year and we would love to return again.

Beautiful cottage - perfect location

We spent a glorious 5 days staying at the Brew House. Ali is a fabulous host and was always incredibly helpful both by email and in person. Both Ali and David could not have been more welcoming and provided us with not only all the essentials you could need (including olive oil and eggs!) but a delicious cake and even bikes for us all. The house is ideal for a family and my 7 and 4 year old loved all the toys and their cosy room. The location was perfect for the island - within 20 minutes of most sightseeing places. We definitely hope to be back! Thank you!

The Brew House

We stayed at the brew house for 5 days and had a thoroughly lovely time. The house was very comfortable with plenty of activities for the children. Our boys are almost 7 and just over 1 and there were lots of toys for them both to keep busy with. The house is in a very central location so made the island very accessible for trips all over. The hosts are very friendly but leave you be to enjoy your stay. A lovely welcome package greeted us on arrival and the house itself is very well equipped. Overall a great place to stay and would recommend it.

The perfect break

We had the perfect break at the Brew House away from busy Paris. Ali and David were so welcoming and always available to give advice on places to go on the island. The cottage was very cosy, well-equipped and just the place to come back to after breathtaking excursions around the Isle of Wight. Ali's lemon drizzle cake and basket of local products were a real treat too :) We had a fabulous time and hope to be back soon! Jillie, Emma and Daniel

A lovely, comfortable, well equipped cottage.

We were given a very warm welcome by Ali and David, who left a really nice collection of local produce (jams, biscuits, homemade cake, drinks). We found the cottage to be very comfortable and well equipped. During our short stay on the island we enjoyed a walking visit to the nearby garlic farm , walks on the downs, and visits to Sandown, Shanklin (enjoyed Shanklin Chine), St Catherine's lighthouse (very interesting tour for only £4 pp) and The Needles where we photographed a wonderful sunset. All in all a lovely, memorable visit to lovely property on a beautiful island.

We (David and Ali Cripps, with our youngest son James) live at Knighton Farmhouse, and the Brew House forms the east 'wing' of the farmhouse. We have lived here since our return to the UK from several years in both Canada and the USA. We love running the Brew House as a holiday cottage, and many of our guests have become friends. We know the Island very well (Ali grew up here) and as we both work from home, are usually around to give advice and ideas of good local places to visit.

Why they chose this property

We love the area - peaceful and rural, yet easy access to everywhere.

What makes this property unique

The Grade II listed cottage is steeped in history, with exposed beams and many original features, including the bread oven in the Inglenook fireplace.
