Lounging on the Loch

This beautifully appointed and located cottage was part of our trip around the north coast 500. We stayed for two days and made the most locale near Fort William to travel around the area and relax after many days of touring. We had access to all we needed to self cater and a warm fire to sit in front of. The wood burning hot tub was amazing we soaked while looking over the loch and mountains in the background. We will look to return on our next trip to the area.

Excellent location for the 3rd leg of our journey around the Highlands,.

Excellent location for the 3rd leg of our journey around the Highlands, although cut short after 2/4 days due to meeting with family in Inverness before our trip back to Kent. Lovely views and comfortable cottage, with all facilities needed for our stay. Would recommend and stay again.

A comfortable, clean and cosy cottage

The listing accurately describes the property which is a small cottage attached to the main house (where the owner lives). The cottage is modest in size but comfortable. Positives are a very convenient location allowing good access to surrounding attractions, very clean, and offers all the amenities required to have a pleasant stay. The cottage is loch side with nice views over the loch from the living room and main bedroom. The owners are friendly and helpful. There is a wood burner in the living room. Easy parking. Negatives, interior a little dated, second bedroom has bunk beds but is very tight on size. We visited in December and short pathway to cottage from the parking area is poorly lit. Overall we enjoyed the stay and the cottage offers a good base to explore the absolutely stunning local landscapes

The cottage is beautifully situated right on the shores of Loch Leven, with fantastic views of the loch and surrounding mountains. The owners have clearly taken great care when choosing the decor, everything is simple but comfortable. The place was clean and had everything I needed to make my stay relaxing and stress free

Lovely few days by loch Linnhe

Comfortable cottage with stunning views of the loch. The house was well equipped and well situated for driving to glencoe, Fort William and Oban, as well as a short walk to the cycle path and a stone’s throw to a small pebble beach on the loch. We had a great time.

Comfy, well equipped accommodation with beautiful loch view

We spent a week in this lovely cottage next to the loch. We are keen walkers and its location just down the road from Glencoe and about 25 mins from Fort William was ideal. The cottage itself is warm, comfy, cosy and very well equipped. It was wonderful to come back after a day's walk and light the wood stove too. The view from the living room window as the sun sets is quite spectacular and the cottage is set in larger grounds with some very curious hens which loved to sit outside the kitchen window in the mornings! The owner greeted us shortly after we arrived to check everything was ok and we felt if we had had any issues during the week, these would have been promptly handled. Fabulous seafood restaurant down the road too! A really great week - thank you

Quaint little cottage

Caroline has been absolutely brilliant, helping us throughout. The cottage is small and quaint. Having the chickens wander about is lovely. If I could change anything at all, it would be to cut back some of the trees to get a better view of the Loch, but we had the best week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would def recommend. ❤️

Cosy cottage with woderful views of Loch

We found the cottage easily and were welcomed by the chickens! The view of the loch from lounge was fantastic. We were not allowed to go onto the main lawn but did get down to the loch for evening views. Cottage was cosy and we enjoyed coming back each evening. It did have a few thigns that would benefit from a refresh given the price, the fridge freezer was a bit battered and the shower could be improved. Would have liked simple things like egg cups. Because of Covid-19 we didn't see the owners and they made no contact with us so we felt a bit un welcomed. We loved the area but would we return to this cottage, perhaps!

Family stay

This cottage was a great location for a family of four to explore the area around Fort William. The cottage has a lot of character and has a lovely location by the Loch.

Idyllic and comfortable

The setting of this cottage is nothing short of idyllic - literally on the edge of a loch, which can be viewed from the living room and main bedroom windows, and is utterly peaceful. The cottage itself has a cosy, romantic feel, but is completely comfortable. There was room to spread out, plenty of hot water, and very comfy beds. The timed heaters provided plenty of warmth, but we also lit the fire on both nights we were there, and Caroline’s instructions made it very simple to get a good blaze going. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. We ate out one night at the Ballachulish Hotel, which was very good. We found this an ideal base to explore the Glencoe area - we went to the Glenfinnan viaduct to view the Jacobite steam train go by - and would have loved to stay longer. We would not hesitate to recommend the cottage to anyone wanting a warm, comfortable, convenient base in this area.

A cosy, place to stay. We would come back here.

The cottage was a lovely, clean place to stay. Everything required for a stay was provided. A place to watch the sun setting over the mountains, if you're lucky. I understand the payment for the electric used. I'm sure that guests would like to come back after a day of sightseeing to a cosy warm cottage by leaving the heaters on all day. I, think the electric payment encourages guests not to waste energy.

Beautiful setting and welcoming host.

Very relaxing environment especially cosy living room with wood fire. Caroline was a pleasure to deal with and helpful, not to mention the fresh eggs from the friendly chickens that roam the yard. Bathroom was a lttle awkward as was the requirement to calculate electricity usage. But overall an enjoyable experience.

It was everything a Scottish cottage should be.

We enjoyed our time there, it was walking distance to two towns and several walking trails in the area. The scenery was breathtaking.

Lovely Owner and Location. VFM

This lovely stone cottage is private, although attached to owners property in picturesque location on shoreline of Loch Linnhe. Calm and relaxed place. Friendly and helpful owner - Caroline, who was in recovery from surgery even baked a lemon drizzle cake upon our arrival! That's customer service and care par excellence. 5* customer service. Thank you so much Caroline. A few chickens roaming in garden gave bucolic atmosphere, but did not disturb us. Private picnic table and seating with seat pads in cottage, (although far too windy whilst we were there to enjoy). Log burner to cope with changes in Scottish highland weather! May Day bank holiday week (1-8 May 2015), log costs were £30 pw (lit log burner every evening and some mornings before breakfast), plus £34 for heating and hot water, which we anticipated. Good to get a dressing table with mirror for grooming - but problem with shaky dressing table stool - screws/nuts needed tightening up before someone gets ditched! This didn't give me confidence of use as have fractured back! Double bed comfortable with lovely high tog duvet for snuggly nights sleep. Plenty wardrobe space. Bedisde cabinets and lamps both sides of bed - great! Kitchen suited our needs - we cooked almost every evening after exploring Glencoe. Lounge comfortable enough; although sofa & armchairs little tired, chinzy and difficult to get out of (with fractured back). We were in Glencoe for a wedding and extended out stay for the week. Boat trips available in Ballachulish. Sottish National Trust history, flora and fauna Safari was tops! Seafood restaurant - Loch Leven restaurant and cafe, along shoreline of Loch Leven was every bit as good as Paris seafood - perhaps even fresher; as catch is land and eaten within few short hours. We 'pushed the boat out'; had oysters and languistine for starters, mussels and Parma ham wrapped with Mediterranean veg and dauphinoise potatoes, breads, French white wine and tip all came to £90. Food & service 100%. Friendly and communicative staff. Advise booking as it was filling up fast during evening. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, vaulted ceiling, appropriate seafood sculptures on walls. All types of dress - walking, mountaineering, plus (us) dressed in smart casual clothing. Great week; first time visit - will return. Would hire cottage again as long as Caroline gets the dressing table stool legs fixed and firm - she is aware and we're sure it has already been done in readiness for next letting.
