This property is very clean and well equipped, the Whirlpool bath was a welcome addition after a day walking, especially in the rain!
It is located in the centre of Grasmere, which is a very popular and busy location.
We visited in October so it wasn't too much of a problem for us, but people walking past the window at busy times might not be to everyone's liking.
Grasmere is well served by buses, and there are many walks to take from the village, so the car can be left unused for your stay, a definite plus point in the Lakes!
In conclusion. if you want quaint comfort, in a central and accessible location, this is for you, but don't expect tranquillity and panoramic views.
We visit the Lakes once a year, and we were so pleased we chose Martin's cottage this year which was perfect for the two of us. We had good comms with Martin before arrival, and was welcomed to the property by him upon arrival which was a nice touch.
The cottage itself was comfortable, with everything we needed, and the location, on a side street in the middle of Grasmere, was perfect. Having off street parking was a big plus.
We'd stay again, without a doubt, the next time we're in that area.
The location is central Grasmere so everything is close to hand. It is a traditional house so expect it to be darkish inside, not a problem as we were out on the fells every day. The owner is most helpful and very handy. The instructions are very modest but our experience of 50+ self-catering holidays meant that was no problem. The car parking is very useful and especially with EV charging included!! Well done Martin.
Lovely cottage, fantastic location in middle of Grasmere within easy walking distance of shops, cafes, pubs and bars.
Parking included which was great.
Lots of walking from front door but central location for exploring further afield within a short drive
A really special and much needed bolt hole in the centre of Grasmere with all modern amenities and a cool quirky feel throughout. Highly recommended.
Two minutes from the co-op and 3 mins from the nearest decent beer stop. High level and low level walks from the front door. No need to drive once parked up.
This was our second stay at the cottage. It is very comfortable and clean with good facilities and handy shops. It is perfectly situated to access beautiful walks and climbs.
Property was perfect for our stay. Great location for all amenities. Lovey period property with everything needed for a relaxing break. Hosts were excellent.
Would definitely return.
The cottage was lovely, with everything we needed. We were able to walk into the fells every day, and didn't have to use our car at all during the week. Martin was very friendly and informative. We would definitely recommend the cottage.
Lovely cottage with everything you need in the perfect spot for the Lake District. We hardly used our car as there were so many great walks in the doorstep.
Lovely little cottage, filled all our requirements and more, perfect for a quiet break in a lovely small village surround by beautiful scenery and local walks.
We’ll be back.!
Stayed for 3 nights 23rd to 26th November.beautiful cottage ,well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge furniture and gas log effect wa fire, comfortable bed, great jacuzzi bath and good seperate cubicle shower. Didn't want to leave.have passed this cottage on previous visits to grasmere and quid definitely stay again.2 minute walk to Sarah Nelson gingerbread shop. ! Not to be missed. Friendly owners too.
This property was ideal for me. It was just the right size - big enough to be comfortable and with everything
I needed. Location is great - right in the heart of Grasmere, yet with easy private parking.
The property is an old world cottage that is clean and comfortable. It is in the centre of Grasmere and perfect for the shops and all the walks. After our walks it was lovely to come 'home' to relax and recover ready for the next day.
Second time staying here. Ideal house for 2 people. Everything on the doorstep. Surrounded by stunning walks.
Shower has plenty of hot water after a day of walking.
Lovely little cottage, right in the heart of the village. Very cosy, had everything we needed, including parking for our Land Rover Discovery. Lovely little outside space, enough room for two and a lovely sunny spot to enjoy a drink or two in the afternoon.
The jacuzzi bath was a lovely way to relax after our many walks.
Nice cottage with all the facilities we required.
Handy for the Co-op and local cafes/restaurants and great for getting out to the places we love, like Langdale , Ellterwater and Troutbeck.
Overall the property had all that was needed. The location was perfect and accessable with car parking space. The manager was extremely helpful and answered questions and provided quick response.
Very disappointed that access to the swimming pool at The Wordsworth Hotel was not available. We believe due to VOVID-19. More information is needed for the accommodation, for example dust bin collection, kitchen appliance handbooks. Overall very good accommodation, we had a very good holiday and would recommend 'Lewis Bistro' for evening meal and 'Hidi's' cafe for breakfast.
Positive: Great location, cosy and warm cottage. Very comfortable bed and good quality bedding.
Negative: Poor standard of cleaning. Oven absolutely filthy. Fridge only superficially clean. Surfaces (i.e. microwave door, windows, mirrors) looked like they had been wiped with a dirty cloth leaving a "mist". Vacuum cleaner nneded emptying. Insufficient Pyrex type dishes.
