Good chalet for large group skiing

We were a group of 13 friends - mixture of adults, teens and children. Accommodation was good, spacious and comfortable living / sitting area, great dining table that we could all sit around, nice hot tub, clean, well presented bedrooms, good showers. Location is slightly below Alpe D'Huez main centre, meaning that either a car is needed or you are reliant on free shuttle bus (runs once per hour) to get to shops, ski lifts etc. Overall, a great place for a large group to stay for a skiing holiday at Alpe D'Huez.

5 start plus

The chalet was just superb. Impeccably clean, nice and spacious and you really provided us with all our needs so beautifully. The view from the balcony and porch are breath-taking and we just did not want to leave!! No words would ever be enough to thank you. We would definitely book again and are so grateful to Tim and Sara for their care and warmth! You could really feel it in the chalet!!

We was here for tomorrowland winter festival, experience really was 5/5. Chalet is really nice, view from the hot tub, BUT the really best thing was host/catering service! Foods were really good, but hosts Abby&Paul were even better! It almost felt like they belong to our group after few days 😅 And after meal they drive u to slopes. Another amazing week

Another fantastic week at Mountain Chalet. This is my 3rd visit in 2 years, the place is amazing. Chalet is warm comfortable and with wholesome home cooked meals and knowledgeable welcoming hosts is the perfect base for your alpine adventure. The resort its self has something to offer for everyone from the powder hounds searching for off piste perfection to the easy greens and beginners slopes, this makes it perfect for large mixed ability groups. I will be back again and again...maybe even for a 3rd week late season this year....honestly its that good :)

Excellent stay at Mountain Chalet

Perfect for our needs, great hosts, great location and excellent food. The view from the hot tub is to die for and the welcome is as warm as the water. The location gives you uninterrupted view of the mountains and a peaceful nights sleep but easy access to town centre.

Beautiful, home from home

An amazing holiday that was perfect for the whole family, with lovely homemade food made by kind and caring hosts. With ski rentals and bars so close it made it really easy. Even got lifts up to the slopes in a morning!

A great catered chalet

This chalet is warm, comfortable and spacious. It was very clean and is very well maintained. The staff were really friendly and happy to help. The boot room is a good size, with more than enough space for equipment and outer coats etc and also houses a sauna. Outside on a deck is a full sized hot tub. The food was plentiful and very good. There is a bus stop a very short distance from the chalet, and an hourly free bus gives access to the main lifts (and also the main village) for a 10 minute ride. We had a great week and would happily recommend this chalet to anyone intending to ski in Alpe d’Huez.

Absoultly Brilliant

Loved our week at the mountain chalet ! Hosts are fab cooks , owners are knowledgeable on the surrounding areas not only for skiing but also for biking . Ski / board in and out . The resort is fun and not super busy witch it great no ques! Chalet itself feels like a home from home . Warm and cosy for when you return back from the slopes and the hot tubs ready to jump into. Boot room dried our kit out every night. We will be back next year without a shadow of a doubt . Cheers for a great week guys!

Super Top Week in a Super Top Chalet

Blinding. Very well equipped, ultra modern, really spacious and had everything our group needed for our holiday stay. The owners were very accommodating and helpful throughout the booking process, communicated with us and certainly didnt oversell the chalet. Really liked the hot tub - what an incredible view and the 'bike station' was very very useful. We are just going through the re-booking' process as I type. Great value for money. Thanks again for a great stay.

Awesome!

The Chalet could not have been situated any better for a cycling base. To look out from the balcony or hot tub straight onto the famous 21bends, complete with ‘tour graffiti’ was simply great… however, it only takes the eye momentarily before being in awe of the view stretching across the valley and the mountains beyond! The chalet itself was perfect – lots of bedrooms and crucially lots of different areas to chill without being on top of one another… also a massive table to eat meals and be sociable. The Chalet was well kitted out from cutlery to SKY TV, hot tub and sauna… even stacks of games to amuse you if the weather had been anything other than perfect. Bike storage was great too. The owners have been very responsive and understanding over a slight mishap. We’ve been to Alpe d’Huez twice before, both times ‘out of season’.. this time, we found facilities in the village particularly limited, but with Bourg a 15-20mion drive way, this gave us access to bars and restaurants when we didn’t want to cater for ourselves. I couldn’t rate the stay/chalet/owners more highly. The location for Cycling is awesome.

Wonderful holiday home in wonderful resort.

Super duper, thanks soooo much. Really nice chalet in stunning mountain resort. Very very modern and very very well looked after. Nice kitchen, large open plan living room and big boot room come bike room. Well equipped, sky, wifi, sauna and we really like the outdoor hot tub. It sits on top of the 21 hairpins and we know why this is the road biking centre of the universe. Wow wow, totally inspired by the hundreds who do the pins each day. Great stay and want to return already.

What a wicked place. Loved it.

Wicked, fab and great. Had a nice time and lovely stay in Mountain Chalet. Well equipped, spacious, modern and ideal for cycling. We really enjoyed the hot tub, social space and location overlooking the 21 hairpins. A perfect holiday home, as described and if anything more than advertised. Thanks a smashing holiday.

Happy Days in a Happy Chalet :)

Brilliant place and very good value. Hot tub to die for, nice internally, spacious, modern and well maintained. We had great en-sute bedrooms and stacks of social space. The bike room made an enormous difference too. 12 of us had bikes stored and found it very useful and accessible along with the bike tools they left for us. Thanks again.

Modern, spacious and well thought out chalet.

A well thought out chalet, nice and comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed. Great facilities too, we moved the outdoor hot tub and balcony. The living area is great and the snug was very nice too along with good sized bedrooms. The resort is super and offered tonnes of road biking - tired legs now from the cols we manage to ascend. Lots left to do though, so we will have to return again next year.

About the host

Hosted by Tim Ferguson

Host profile image
Tim is a BASI qualified snowboard instructor, a MIAS Mountain Bike trainer and assessor and a British Cycling Road Cycling Coach. In his words "I live for the mountains...summer & winter"
Sara is a former elite athlete having competed for England on the track & as a Fell Runner. Sara now concentrates on beasting Tim up anything hilly!
Cat is our daughter, currently aged 15 she is racing Road, CX, MTB and Track bikes both and is giving everything to become a pro cyclist when she gets older, whilst in the winter Cat slalom ski races. Having to forever wait for Mum & Dad, Cat has also turned to the dark side and has started to snowboard too. She is already annoying her Dad, better technique learnt in 3 days, although Dad is her instructor and therefore claims all the credit!!

Why they chose this property

We love skiing and cycling. Its the ALPS!!!

In the winter Tim snowboards, Sara skis and Cat does both.
In the summer Tim mountain bikes - both XC and downhilling. In July 2018 Tim won the masters category of the Megavalanche. Tim also road bikes, spending each summer 'Col Bagging' and trying to keep up with Sara.
Sara sticks fervently to her road bike, but she is ferocious. Sara is the only person we know who is disappointed when she gets to the top of a steep & gnarly climb.
Cat road bikes and mountain bikes. As a flat track racer, the hills are just for training purposes. Downhilling is fast becoming another of Cats passions though. The downhill trails in ADH are wicked.
But added to this are an amazing array of other good fun stuff. As a family we to the via ferrata each summer, rock climb on the hundreds of bolted sport routes, white water raft, stand up paddle board, wind surf on the lake, swim gym and climb in the sports centre and ice skate in the summer on the outdoor rink.

What makes this property unique

Ski Chalet in the Winter - whats not to like? Come and try Alpe d'Huez for yourself and see what a fab fab resort it is.
ADH has the most amazing array of stuff to do, read on....
Golf Course - we don't play, but other guests have done!
Football & Rugby pitches - summer camps for kids happen in August
Sports Centre - an incredible gym, spinning classes, under water spinning classes, table tennis, indoor climbing wall, swimming pool and a lot more
Ice Rink - outside
Outdoor Swimming Pool - heated and open summer and winter
X Fly - they have a zip wire, jump air bag, high ropes climbing tower and maze crawl
Horse riding - summer only
Husky Dog Sledding - winter only
Skiddoo Trekking - winter only
Stand Up Paddleboarding, Wind Surfing, Canoeing & Pedalo's - summer only
Via Ferrata - some of the most amazing sections, over 250 metes high sitting above the Sarenne Gorge.
Climbing - hundreds and hundreds of bolted sport routes.
Mountain Biking - downhilling in the summer, the lifts are open, its a gravity sport.
Mountain Biking XC - hundreds and hundreds of kilometres of trails. A year in ADH wouldn't be enough.
Road Biking - ADH is the MECCA for roadies. The famous 21 Hairpins of Tour de France fame is the pinnacle, but add to that the Col du Galibier, Col du Lauteret, Col de la Croix de Fer, Col de Glandon, Col d'Ornon, Col de Sarenne and the list goes on and on and on
White Water Rafting - summer only
Massage and Spa Centre
Fabulous shopping: Rip Curl, Napapijri, Superdry to name but a few
Awesome bars and restaurants: The O Bar, Smithies, The Underground, The Sphere Bar, Freerider and many many more
ADH has its own glacier too: the Sarenne Glacier, making it as snow sure as it can be. In the summer the Megavalanche - the worlds premier downhill enduro mountain bike race starts on the glacier. 2000 downhillers race on the snow before trails lower down the mountain.
In the winter the Sarenne Glacier provides the longest Black run in Europe.
