About this property

Dog friendly cottage in historic Cornish village near Port Isaac, Padstow & Rock

Tynedale, is a wonderful, Cornish traditional family house sleeping seven people in four bedrooms with two bathrooms and a downstairs loo. It is centrally located in the friendly North Cornwall village of St Teath. It is the perfect base for exploring. It is ten minutes from the glorious North Cornwall coast for walking, surfing and beaches. It is close to the charming seaside towns of Port Isaac (of Doc Martin fame), Rock, the foodies’ delight of Padstow, Polzeath and Widemouth Bay for surfing, the wild scenery of Arthurian Tintagel, the South West Coast Path, Poldark country, Rosamund Pilcher trail and many other picturesque and historic sites.
The area abounds with good restaurants and friendly pubs, it is within easy reach of the Eden Project (45 minutes) and many of the other attractions, both natural and man-made that Cornwall has to offer. The bustling small town of Wadebridge is twenty minutes away, with its three supermarkets, interesting independent shops and the glorious Camel Trail for cycling. Seaview is a local farm shop a mile away with cafe/bar and selling local farm produce and other delights, plus the best breakfasts. There are also small supermarkets in Delabole and Camelford for groceries and logs etc.
The cottage has two cosy living rooms, each with a log burner. The four comfortable bedrooms and spacious and well-equipped kitchen/ diner make it ideal for multi generation living or just chilling out. There’s high speed fibre broadband and a smart TV inside, and outside, a secluded patio with BBQ for eating and entertaining plus a charming low-mainenance front garden from which to sit and watch the world go by.

St.Teath is a thriving village year round which welcomes its visitors. With an historic 14th century church at its centre and a dog/family friendly “proper” pub which shows sport, has two full sizes pool tables and serves excellent good value meals, all within 200 yards of the front door. The quaint village cafe also serves delicious breakfasts, home cooked lunches and teas. The area is a pooch’s paradise and we welcome up to two well behaved dogs. There is a footpath running alongside the house and over styles to fields for dog walking (please be aware of livestock).

St Teath with my doggy

Loved my stay with my dog Ralph who loved the beaches. Had a slight issue with connecting to the internet when I arrived but that was sorted and Christine was on the phone to assist as well. The downside is that parking isn't great and I didn't fancy leaving my car in the road outside the house but I always managed to get a space in the square opposite the pub. The pub was only 50 or so metres from the house so no problem with the worry about drinking and driving and the food was very good.

Nice quaint cottage, fully equipt kitchen, comfortable lounges. Ideal for 5 adults and two dogs. Quiet location with an excellent pub, serving lovely value for food and a good pint. Overall well worth the 8 hr journey down and 10hr return to Essex.

Cornwall stay

Enjoyed everything about the house & its surroundings & highly recommend eating at the White Hart Pub next door. The only thing about the property that I would change are the bed mattress they where without a shadow of doubt the most uncomfortable things to sleep on but I understand that to others they may be perfect but in these days of memory foam this is the way too go to replace old spring mattress.

Great Stay

The property was easily large enough for three adults and 3 children. A great location for lots of north Cornwall attractions and beaches. The pub is 50m away and has a good playground and serves good food. My only real criticisms of the property were the kitchen was missing a couple of family sized dishes and the house was in need of a little tlc. However these were minor criticisms.

Fabulous

The photos certainly don’t do this place justice. The cottage was charming and more than adequate for 6 adults. The biscuits and flowers left on the table were a lovely touch after a long journey. We will definitely be back again. The village is quaint and very peaceful and we were fortunate enough to be visiting in Carnival week too. After holidaying in Cornwall for over 50 years I can truly say this is one of the nicest places we have stayed in, such a cosy, homely feel. Well worth a visit!!

Reunited with family and friends

We were altogether 7 adults but although Tynedale doesn't have big rooms we didn't feel cramped and all loved the large kitchen table. Near many beautiful spots and walking distance of a nice traditional pub.

Great village setting

Lovely cottage, four bedrooms, with one en-suite, two reception rooms and kitchen / diner. It is ideally located for visiting local places of interest. Cottage is 100 yards from the local pub that is well worth a visit as the food is great and everyone was really friendly. We have had a lovely holiday and look forward to visiting again.

Lovely Getaway

We had a lovely stay at Tynedale. We did find that bins hadn't been collected prior to our arrival and when we put them out prior to the specified collection day they weren't taken, after a quick discussion with the housekeeper she stated she would get this sorted. The garden is small for 4 adults and 2 12 yr olds but we were out most of the time so not an issue for us. The facilities to cook in the property were good and the pub food fab, be weary to book tables in busier times. Within easy reach of Bude, Padstow, St Austell and Port Issac. With an aldi, tesco, B&M locally in Wadebridge 20 mins or so away, good to grab a few essentials. The brochures and info booklet may require an update. There was some confusion in regards of check out time we had two times in our booking information, but there was no issues when this was discussed.

About the host

Hosted by Christine Conner

Host profile image
I am mum to three strapping sons (and now two grandsons) and live just an hour away from Tynedale. We have spent most of our summers and holidays in North Cornwall and my children grew up eating chips and sandy pasties on the beach between tides and surf. We boat and spend as much time as possible afloat and fishing off the beautiful Cornish coast during the good weather. Tynedale is a family home and we have relatives in the village and local area. It is lovely to hear stories of how others enjoy the house as we have and hope you will also love St Teath and make happy and lasting memories for all the family.

Why they chose this property

"Highly recommended but, most importantly, dog-friendly" -
“Tourist-free and peaceful village”
"The owner welcomed us with a delicious cake" - "Well-equipped and tastefully decorated" and many other complimentary reviews on both cottage and village. Tynedale has a "homey" feeling. It is comfortable and well-furnished and equipped but child- and dog-friendly. The log burners give it a cosy atmosphere. It is well-placed for activities and attractions but not overrun with other visitors.

What makes this property unique

Near enough for all the fun but tucked away from the mayhem and high prices at the height of summer so peaceful and cosy. Local village pub and living space for all the family.
