About this property

Bright and airy bungalow in a quiet road in historic Totnes. Sleeps 3.

Situated on the east side of the River Dart, in the Bridgetown residential area of Totnes, with the town centre only a 10 minute walk away, the bungalow enjoys lovely views over the town and countryside to Dartmoor in the distance. As an alternative to walking or driving into the town centre, there is a local bus service which can be boarded immediately outside of the bungalow on weekdays.
The bungalow has its own driveway affording off-road parking alongside a small lawn to the front while to the rear there is a more secluded larger garden which is a lawn and patio area with garden seating.
Inside is bright, airy and of a modern style. An entrance hallway leads into the kitchen and lounge area. The bathroom comprises of bath with electric shower, basin and W.C. There are 2 bedrooms; a single and a double. The double bedroom has French windows leading onto the patio.
The property is centrally heated. ( There are no additional charges for the use of electricity, gas and water.)
Totnes has a wealth of history behind it with its Castle and Clock Tower (the East Gate) being prominent features of the town.
It also has a character and feel all of its own, much of which is due to the influence of the students of Dartington College of Arts of the more recent past. Indeed, nearby Dartington Hall and gardens are well worth a visit.
The town is well known for its unique, independent shops and also has plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs to choose from.
As well as its charm and history, Totnes is also a route centre, lying in the heart of South Devon and having good connectivity to the rest of the area and the larger centres of Torbay, Plymouth and Exeter. The A38 dual-carriageway from both Exeter and the M5 motorway and continuing to Plymouth and on into Cornwall is only 6 miles away, and the main railway to the southwest also serves the town. To the south of the town are the rolling hills and beautiful coastline of the South Hams, and to the north the wonderfully rugged scenery of Dartmoor National Park. Also the popular beaches of Torquay and Paignton are only 7 - 10 miles away. All of these features are within 45 minutes' drive and there is also an extensive network of bus routes to the vast majority of these areas from Totnes.

Comfortable,Clean Property

No problems at all with the property. It was clean and comfortable. The Welcome Pack was very “welcome” with wine, biscuits and fresh fruit.Ian responded very quickly to my queries including local information. He also made sure the property could accommodate my dust allergy. The property itself was a bit further out than ideal but it gave us the opportunity to walk off dinner!Thank you Ian we enjoyed our stay very much.

The bungalow was fantastic. Very clean, well equipped and perfect location.

We were made to feel very welcomed upon our arrival. The bungalow is a good size and ideal for a family stay. Very clean, well equipped and very cosy. It was a nice gesture to find milk in the fridge, wine and biscuits on the dining table and many leaflets on the activities and attractions in Devon. The area is quiet and friendly...we had a very relaxing stay and all the main attractions in the Torbay and surrounding areas are very accessible from here. Would definitely look to come back and stay here.

It’s also fantastically located just 2 minutes from supermarket (Morrison’s) and high street. Great for visiting Torquay, paignton and local attractions. Owners are lovely and it was nice to arrive to a bottle of wine a lovely card and Easter chocolates. We will definitely be back.

Excellent place to stay to visit Totnes and surrounding area

Excellent accommodation, everything has been thought of plus lots of little extras that make this a home from home. The welcome pack of milk, fruit, biscuits, wine etc was a lovely thought and much appreciated. Ian was also really helpful with local knowledge when we needed it. The back garden and private parking are definite plus points, especially as parking is not easy in Totnes itself. The bungalow is a 10-12 minutes walk into Totnes which is a wonderful, friendly town with lots to see and do. Plenty of lovely restaurants to eat at plus lots of history and character which we loved. It is also a great base to see the surrounding area. We felt very at home here and could happily have stayed longer. We definitely recommend the Round Robin trip as it is a lovely day out for all the family. We would highly recommend Ian's bungalow to anyone looking for self catering accommodation in the area.
