About this property

Beautiful Cottage with Stunning Sea Views,Pet friendly,3mins to beach,EV charger

Our cottage combines the traditional North Cornish cob cottage with an architect designed timber-framed building.

We provide beautiful high quality accommodation with uninterrupted views of the National Trust's Northcott Mouth cliffs, the South West Coast Path and the North Atlantic over a protected wetland area from the moment you step in through the front door.

To the right of the main entrance we provide a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, oven, fitted fridge, microwave etc. There's a snug sitting room with woodburner, Smart TV connected to super fast Broadband, Blu-Ray Player and Sound bar with I-pod facility. Off the kitchen on the front patio there is sun trap where you can sit, which is also great for BBQs.

The dining area links the kitchen and snug to a large seating area with spectacular views to the sea. Sit on one of the two rocking chairs and take in the view. From this seating area you can access the garden and the utility room,

The utility room has a small fridge/freezer and a washing machine, We also provide an electric clothes airer/dryer and a separate sink. Off the utility area is a downstairs WC and handbasin.

Upstairs in the main cottage are two of the bedrooms and a bathroom. One bedroom has a King sized double bed and the other bedroom has two single beds.

The separate annex is attached to the main house, but accessed via its own entrance, 7 steps away from the main front door. On the ground floor is a bathroom and a seating area with its own TV . It provides an element of privacy for two families sharing or for older siblings. There is a queen sized double bed and a single bed to provide flexibility although we normally limit the accommodation to 6 Guests. The stairs to access the bedroom in the annex are paddle stairs, which means they are quite steep and have open treads.

The garden is fenced in to provide for children and pets (although a determined furry friend might get out) and there is an outside hot shower for washing off after a day at the beach. We make a £25 / pet charge.

There is an electric car charging point provided subject to a separate charging agreement.

Our family regularly take their own friends and family to stay at the cottage and we take our dogs too. See the picture below of our working collie enjoying the cliff walk above Northcott Mouth.

Being South Westerly sea facing there are great sunsets with the sun sinking gently into the horizon. Spring, autumn and winter can afford a view of the might of the North Atlantic weather-not much between you and North America with many beautiful clear days.

If you have any queries please contact us. We hope that you will enjoy the cottage and cherish it as we do.

Fabulous location, views, experience

We stayed at Beagle Cottage in March for 4 nights with our 2 dogs- what a lovely house, really spectacular views, great garden and really well equipped kitchen and amenities. We loved sitting in the sunny living space, we were able to sit in the garden overlooking Bude and the coast, the beds were comfy & cosy. The local pub is great (booking advised!) and it’s really conveniently located for Bude and the surrounding destinations. We will be back!

Character property with amazing views

This property is full of character and has everything you might need for a holiday in Bude. The location is good and the views from the lounge are amazing. The annexe was really useful to have for older children to have their own space. Great property!

Great Christmas stay at Beagle Cottage

My family and I and our dogs stayed at Beagle Cottage over Christmas. We had a lovely time and when we arrived we were greeted with a bottle of Prosecco and some additional cleaning amenities which were helpful to have. The cottage is how it is described, and had everything we needed for our stay. It’s not too far to walk or drive to the beach, which is great for dogs all year round! When the weather was nice we had some lovely views of the country side and the coast from the cottage. The only thing to mention was that the stairs in the annex part aren’t the safest, especially for older people staying in the annex part. Otherwise, we had a lovely Christmas at Beagle Cottage and would stay there again!

Perfect family gathering

This property was absolutely perfect for our holiday; plenty of space for 5 adults and our Springer spaniel ( garden perfectly secure for dog). The cottage is beautifully and tastefully decorated- with everything we could possibly have wanted! Easy to nip down to Northcott Mouth beech for a swim - and quick short drive to Bude for shops and fish and chips! Wonderful views from house….

Fantastic stay

Lovely house in a great location. Geoff the owner could not have been more helpful or quick to respond to messages. We went with friends so having a separate annex where they didn’t have to be woken up by our kids was ideal! The house had everything we needed and we had a fantastic short break 😊

Comfortable cottage with fabulous views

Well equipped and comfortable cottage with wonderful views across fields to the sea and headlands in the distance. Enjoyed relaxing in the lounge and dining area flooded with light through the super large windows. A rural setting a little out of town but perfect for us.

Panoramic views and comfortable stay with dogs

A long weekend with my sister/family and two dogs (with permission) to celebrate a big birthday. Well equipped accommodation with beautiful views down to/across the coast and Bude. Set up for dogs is ideal with enclosed garden and coastal path only 15 mins walk away. Friendly and helpful communication with the owner in advance. We really enjoyed our stay- thank you!

Perfect staying

It was an amazing holiday even though it is in winter. Our stay was cozy, clean with stunning views. The Local town is nice and there are so many activities to do around in the area. Also, We enjoyed the character of the property, spotlessly clean and felt so welcome to the place. Definitely we will come back here.

Beagle Cottage

A lovely well equipped cottage. Garden very secure for dogs. There is an annex attached to the cottage which has its own entrance. There is a tv in the old part of the cottage but it would have been nice to have a tv in the new part. Lovely views towards the sea. Walking distance to nearest pub and about a 20 minute walk to Crooklets beach. Other beaches and Bude about 5 minutes drive away. We were so lucky with the weather. We had a lovely few days at Beagle cottage and would have loved to stay longer.

Comfortable cottage for weekend

A good value cottage in a convenient location for exploring the Bude area and north Cornwall/Devon coast. Not particularly luxurious, but perfectly comfortable and mostly very clean (e.g. second fridge needed a good wipe before using it). We hadn't appreciated that the annexe is completely separate from the rest of the cottage, albeit adjacent, which is our fault for misinterpreting the description and this didn't really matter. The annexe stairs are not for the elderly or infirm! Having stayed once, we would gladly return. Thank you, Geoff.

About the host

Hosted by Geoffrey Adams

Host profile image
We bought Beagle Cottage as a holiday home and an opportunity to renovate and improve an old property to provide a good space to enjoy the sea/country views it affords. With the help of a local architect and builder we refurbished the original traditionally built part of the cottage and then created the znnex using a timber framed construction to replace a lean-to garage.
The Dining room/utility room and sitting area were designed to enable us to enjoy the view across the countryside to the open sea. The work took us about 18 months including getting the dreaded planning permission.
Shortly after we had completed the work, one of our sons then came to live in the property whilst working as a vet with a local practice as an Equine Vet.
He now works in the South East and so we decided that we would enter the holiday market so that the Cottage would be enjoyed by others.
We are working farmers based in South Wales but get down as often as our farming life permits. We flirt with retiring to this Cottage in Cornwall but the time never quite seems right but meantime hope you will enjoy it as much as we do

Why they chose this property

The Cottage is within easy driving distance of the M5. Nothcott Mouth Road which leads to a quiet dog friendly all year round beach with car parking. You can easily walk to the Beach. From it you can access all parts of North Cornwall easily and avoid the crowds even in High Season. We have found that it affords an area of repose without isolation

What makes this property unique

We enjoy the local pubs ,restaurants ,eating breakfast out, walking the dog, being away from the day job .
The enclosed garden gives us the opportunity to "stay in" but still look out ..
The High Speed Broadband enables the" Out side" to" Come In" as, when, and if, YOU( not it} choose yet enjoy the world of the Internet etc-staying in touch on your terms.
We fell in love with the view and the traditionally built part of the cottage. To sit in the forward area of the sitting room of an evening enjoying a gentle beer /glass of wine whilst gently rocking on the chair -the foot stool rocks too- watching the sun go down cannot be recommended too highly-only problem there is only room for two chairs!
With binoculars we can look over the lake at the bird sanctuary and see the migrant and resident birds landing and taking off, sometimes feeding in the field next to the property.
