About this property

Family friendly, homely cottage near St Just, a short drive to amazing beaches

This charming granite cottage has been renovated and has many interesting features. The kitchen/dining room is well equipped and has steps down to the garden which is a south facing sun trap. The garden has a patio area with a pergola and climbing plants; a lawned area and flower borders. The lounge has a wood burning stove and logs are provided. There is an entrance room which is ideal for providing extra space. Upstairs there are 2 double rooms, one with views across the fields to St Just. The twin room has the same lovely view. The bathroom is upstairs. There is parking for 2 cars on the road just outside the cottage and there are a few steps from the road down to the cottage. St Just is a walk over the fields (or a very short drive) away which has a co op, interesting galleries (including the Kurt Jackson gallery), a fish and chip shop and Chinese takeaway, cafes and many pubs all serving good food. On the door step is Kenidjack valley most of which is managed by the National Trust and is a great place for exploring the old tin mining area and wildlife, finishing at a rocky cove close to Cape Cornwall and within walking distance of the tin mining area where Poldark has been filmed. Going inland there are moors where there is a Bronze Age stone circle.
Sennen Beach is about 4 miles away and is a well known amazing surf beach where surf equipment can be hired. All around are fantastic beaches including Porthcurno where there is The Minack, an open air theatre overlooking the sea. There is a different beach for every day of the week!
In summer there is an open top bus to the quaint town of St. Ives and Sennen beach with the bus stop a couple of minutes walk away.

Lovely cottage at the edge of St Just

We had a lovely stay in this cute 3 bedrooms cottage. Clean, well decorated, all good. It was great! The village center is at walking distance.

Characterful cottage in great location

We had a great but too short stay in St Just. Clean, comfortable and well equipped cottage easily large enough for four adults. St Just centre with supermarket, cafes, pubs 2 minutes away by car (but why drive when you can walk there in 10 minutes across the fields?). Great walks from the cottage to Cape Cornwall and all the West Cornwall sights are within an easy drive. Thanks Ali: would love to return!

Clean, well equipt house with lovely garden. Only downside was the car parking, on a very narrow lane. Thank you

Beautiful house in a fab location

We had such a lovely week staying in St Just. The house felt like home straight away - it was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved the location - you can walk from the front door in so many directions! It’s a quick trip across fields to St Just, or you can follow small roads and footpaths to Geevor tin mine, Cape Cornwall and Sennen Cove. We loved this and even though Cornwall was busy when we visited (August), it was easy to get off the beaten track and there are lots of beautiful places to discover! We would definitely recommend and we’d love to come back sometime.

Wonderful cosy cottage

We had a wonderful week in Ali’s lovely cosy cottage which was a great base for exploring this area of Cornwall. The beds were all very comfortable and the beautiful garden was ideal for sitting out in when the sun chose to pop out! Ali was a great host and was on hand if we had any issues, which we didn’t. Would love to come back again.

Lovey Cottage in beautiful location.

The cottage is lovely bright and clean and tastefully decorated with all you need for a stay away. It is bigger than it appears from the photos. We arrived later than planned and Ali came to see us in the morning after arriving. She told us about the local amenities were and some lovely ideas for walks and days out. We had an issue with the toaster but that was fixed within the hour - great service. Parking is road side - it is a single track road but even with a large car it wasn't an issue. The road itself is not busy. Would definitely recommend.

Holiday in St Just

Just had a lovely stay in this quaint, country cottage which easily accommodates six upstairs, but would be a squeeze for six in the lounge. Exceptionally clean throughout with a lovely, enclosed, sun trap garden. Parking is very tight. We have a Ford Galaxy and were lucky as the owners went away during our stay and could park slightly off road, outside their garage, otherwise I had concerns about leaving a large car on such a narrow, steep, country lane. When we arrived we were meet by the owner Ali who was very welcoming and showed us around the house. She explained to us that it was actually her home which she rents out during the summer months, whilst her and her partner live next door in a converted shed. The property was perfect for the two of us with our two dogs in every way, except for two minor points. Firstly, if it’s chilly there is no central heating, so we had to use the wood burner and electric radiators provided and secondly, the water pressure on the shower is very low which made it a struggle to use but this was explained to us on arrival. St Just and the surrounding area is stunning, especially the coastline and we would recommend a walk from Land’s End to Sennen cove, or a peaceful visit to Mullion cove, On the whole we had a lovely, relaxing week away.

A lovely family cottage

This is a lovely cottage and ideal for a family visiting Cornwall. The kitchen is very well stocked for a family of four or more and the garden is a lovely sun trap. St just is a five minute walk across fields where you will find all you need, pubs, butcher, groceries and a baker. We would definitely recommend it for a holiday. Ali is also a very kind and helpful host. Thank you.

Heart-warming cosy cottage

Really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cosy & colourful cottage which is bigger than it looks in the photos. Well equipped although we missed a hairdryer, great location for a walk into St Just, an open top bus to St Ives and we enjoyed a leisurely stroll towards the coast although didn’t quite make it to the sea. A more powerful shower would be an improvement and speed up getting ready in the morning but overall a great place to stay. We also enjoyed eating out in the garden and using the BBQ.

Beautiful and ideally located

Such a lovely house. Perfect for lands end, sennen, Penzance, st Ives and all sorts of other beaches. Centrally located and a 5 minute walk to st just for shops and pubs. The garden is lovely and not overlooked at all and a total suntrap till late into the afternoon/early evening I couldn't recommend this property enough and very cost effective considering what else is about!!

Beautiful cottage and welcoming hosts

Really lovely cottage, beautifully furnished and equipped with absolutely everything you might need. Quiet neighbourhood with great, short walk across the fields to the very friendly St Just. Fantastic breakfasts at the dog-friendly Dog and Rabbit (amazing cakes too). Pretty , safe and enclosed garden for our dog. Bus stop at the end of the lane. Buy a 3 or 5 day bus pass and hop on and off at coastal points to join the SW coastal path - wonderful walks with lots of opportunities to dip in the sea along the way. Such a lovely holiday. Thank you Ali.

A beautiful and welcoming cottage in a lovely spot

A beautiful, homely cottage, secluded and quiet, but a short walk across the fields to St Just shops. A wonderful jumping off point for short walks (must try the Cot Valley) and hops in the car to St Ives, and wonderful beaches.

Comfortable homely cottage

We spent a very nice week at the cottage. The owner was very helpful, the garden and kitchen were both lovely and the bedrooms were all good sizes and and very nice. The children's toys were an added bonus for our two boys aged 5 and 3. Would recommend.

My name is Ali and I'm a flower grower and gardener. I bought the cottage about 14 years ago mainly because I loved the sunny garden as I'm a keen gardener. I love the location of the house, being able to walk to St Just and down the valley to the sea. My partner and I decided to holiday let the property during the summer period as we are happy to spend time in our camper van. We renovated the cottage to a high standard and it's now lovely inside.
We own the property next door to the cottage (completely separate) where I grow and prepare flowers and we may sometimes stay in the summer house if we are not away in the van.

Why they chose this property

The cottage is in a lovely quiet location within walking distance of the sea, it has a sunny sheltered garden and is close to St Just, an interesting small town with shops, cafes, pubs and galleries.
