About this property

The Village of El Horno has a good local shop and bar each within walking distance; children's play area and flood-lit sports pitch 5 mins away. The Villa is situated in the "barranco de Arguineguin" with breath taking views over the mountains, orange trees and stunning blue skies. Set over 3 floors each with its own private terrace.
On the ground floor we have the main entrance to the Villa that takes you into the spacious lounge which overlooks the amazing mountains. Also on this floor you have the separate dinning area; kitchen and WC.
Upstairs you have 3 bedrooms , 2 of the rooms with double beds and one room with 2 single beds, also a cot if needed on request and the second bathroom. Up to to the roof terrace at the top of the stairs you have a washing machine & tumble dryer. Outside you have an area for private sun bathing with sitting area etc.
On the lower ground floor we have a fourth bedroom with a double bed, and recently decorated bathroom. There is also a games room that has a pool table, table tennis and gym equipment for your use. You can access here to the heated swimming pool and BBQ area.
The Villa is very safe and secure (child friendly) with gates/modern alarm/intercom camera entry and smoke detectors fitted on all levels.
You can park you car in the gated driveway or there is plenty of parking outside the Villa on the roadside.
This Villa is suitable for cyclists as El Horno is situated on the ever popular "Soria" Cycle Trip. During peak season literally hundreds of cyclists will tackle this route. The Villa is 20 mins drive to other resorts such as Puerto Rico and Meloneras.

Perfect for family holiday

We enjoyed a lovely week at Michael's villa.Communication with Michael, both before and during the stay, was excellent. We had a short power cut whilst there, and Michael was quick to respond to my messages and offer advice. Michael also gave me some contact details for a local taxi driver when I asked.The villa was great for our mix of age ranges; the outside area with the pool was spacious and had the sun for a number of hours each day, and the rooms were all set out nicely. The lounge was spacious and comfortable, and the kitchen was perfect for our needs.The villa is 6 miles off the motorway and the roads can be winding and tight in places, which is worth bearing in mind if you're not a confident driver.We used most of the supermarket recommendations during our stay, and it's not too far to go to reach a shop that will give you what you need. The local bar was friendly, and we enjoyed food and drinks there.Overall a fantastic stay, and we would gladly return!

Fantastic villa

The villa has it all, easy booking and getting in. Quick responses from Micheal when needed. Only thing you need a hire car. Its out of the way with no real local shops but that said its quiet and the scenery is amazing. The whole family really did not want to leave

Great villa

The villa was very spacious and clean. It had everything we needed as a family with a 13 and 10 year old. We found the location perfect; peaceful at the villa and a short drive (15-20mins) to numerous beaches and restaurants. The kids enjoyed Puerto Rico beach mainly because they could jump off the small platforms. Mogan is really pretty and with a good beach. We found the nicest restaurants in Mogan. Definitely need a hire car (cicar is good). Michael is really helpful and quick to respond to messages. Would happily recommend this villa and book again. Thank you Michael for a lovely holiday.

Nice house in quiet village.

This house was great for us with our older son and his girlfriend holidaying with us. The bedroom and bathroom space allowed for us all to be separate when we wanted to be. The games room was great fun as was the pool. Be prepared for a 20 minute drive to get to the main motorway. This house is in a village in the Arguiniguin ravine so is surrounded by mountains. We went to the rustic, welcoming and good value restaurant at El Pinello at least 3 times. This is only a 5 min drive away. Lovely staff there! The house was very clean overall, however the shower cubicles did need scrubbing down as there was orange body fat build up in places. The upstairs shower also has low pressure but we made do and coped ok. The manager Michae, was very responsive when we had to contact him. When we arrived, expecting a welcome pack of basic items -as stated in the house notes- we arrived to an empty fridge. In our experience of staying in private villas, at the least, one bottle of water is provided on arrival. Michael did get in touch with the local contact who did bring a few basic staples later in on the day. We also had to contact Michael because the pool filter wasn’t running. Again his local agent did come and sort this out. These were minor niggles and did not impact on our overall experience. A lovely house in a Canarian village, with a small local shop, far away from the hustle bustle of tourist areas. You definitely need a car but if you don’t mind lots of driving you’ll have a great break in El Horno!

Holiday Home away from Home.

Gorgeous property. Photos don't do it justice. Everything you need and more. Very spacious with lots of rooms so great when everyone wants their own space (especially when you have teenagers) pool can only be described as a slightly warm bath. Couldn't get the rest of the family out to go sight seeing. Clean, well equipped and Michael was on stand by via email to answer any questions. Fantastic property would most definitely recommend.

Delightfully peaceful mountain retreat

A lovely stay in villa Fortuna with our 4 year old son. The location is quiet and peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle, nestled in a valley with stunning 360 degree mountain views. The villa is well appointed, spacious and comfortable and the private pool a godsend. A car is essential, in my opinion, as there is little in walking distance, but this just encouraged us to explore more of the island than we otherwise would have done. The owner was excellent at responding to queries quickly and very flexible with our checkout time, which we appreciated. A lovely, restorative stay.

Beautiful Villa in the mountains

We had a fantastic week at Villa Fortuna. The sun rose over the mountains as we ate breakfast. Spectacular. The villa is huge and was perfect for the 6 of us. We spent most of the daytime exploring but it was always nice to come home to the house and sit outside on the terrace and drink wine and relax. I have only one criticism of the Villa and that it is in need of a little TLC in some areas. Possibly the owners have not been able to visit recently because of situation in the Canaries. Overall we had a wonderful holiday. Communication and contact with the owner was great and the information and welcome pack much appreciated.

Stayed here in February with my family of 4 and two friends, the photos on the listing do not do the property justice. Plenty of room and very well equipped. The outside space was fine and we all enjoyed the pool which was warm even in February ! nice to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the coastal resorts however these are easy to reach by car within 20 to 30 mins. Very easy booking and Micheal the owner communicating throughout the process, I did not need to chase anything, Micheal even offered some help when we were grounded at the airport being closed due to the Calima. Thank you Micheal, Excellent holiday at the Villa and was enjoyed by all and would have no hesitation in booking this villa again.

Fabulous holiday, superb house and excellent communication

Firstly I must apologise for taking so long in leaving our review! We stayed here in March (2019 (I'm not *that* slow!)) but leaving a review has been on my list of "things to do" ever since... but better late than never as they say! We stayed here with two adults and two kids and there was ample room for all of us without feeling cramped. The kids (and adults!) loved the pool and the games room. Everything was clean, well kept, modern and very much up to standard seen on the photos on here. Parking on the street outside was an absolute breeze (you never know how busy somewhere might be for parking but trust me, you'll NOT have a problem getting parked!) We literally only have two 'negative' things to say and they're really not big issues and one is certainly not within the owners control but as I always like to read reviews that are fair and written well, here goes: 1) The pool was a teeny tiny bit chilly come later afternoon/evening but that didn't stop us enjoying it - it WAS heated but we're all wimps and would have preferred it a smidge warmer(!) 2) That blooming cockeral that lives somewhere on the mountain side near-ish the house needs cooking up for Sunday dinner(!) (I'm a huge animal lover, I do say this in jest, but in all honesty, it did wake me up a few mornings - you can tell its a long way off and it's echoing between the hills and I certainly appreciate it isn't the property owners' fault or anything within their control but I did think I'd write about it in my review as it starts its morning wake up call as soon as the sun starts rising right through til 10am ish so if you're a fellow light sleeper (like myself and my daughter) you might well be woken up quite early BUT, like I say, no detriment to the holiday because frankly, sitting outside waiting for the sun to appear over the mountain, while listening to the cockeral, with a cup of tea in your hands, in the lovely warm climate = bliss! Would we go back? 100% definitely! Highly recommended!

Ideal location in the hills

Just come back from a 7 night stay and everything was perfect. Having wanted to stay in the hills but be able to hit Puerto Rico and Meloneras quickly by car we found this to be ideal. The photos really do not do the house justice and for 2 of us it was huge!!! Some nice touches throughout the property and a pretty good sound system too. If you want to avoid the crowds of the coast then this is perfect for you.

Lovely Villa in Gran Canaria

We had great and detailed information prior to the holiday, the villa was exactly as described, it was really lovely , in a delightful village with mountain views. We had everything we needed and more. The heated pool was a perfect temperature and clean. It was in a great location for exploring the island. We hired scooters in Masaplomas explored all the mountains and spent time on our favourite beach ..Tauro which was quiet and peaceful . We enjoyed the local bars in the village and the little shop was well stocked. We had such a good time and would happily recommend this lovely house .We would stay again. Thankyou to the hosts.

The property has everything needed - lots of space with fantastic views!

Truly enjoyed our week at Fortuna Villa! My sister in law and I decided to take an October half term break with four children between us.Although it is a remote setting, it was perfect for us. Totally chilled whilst the kids played in the pool.The shop at the bottom of the hill was well stocked so no need to venture far for supplies! We also found a nice little bar five minutes on from the shop.We had a lot of fun in the games room! Will definitely be returning😃

Beautiful villa

We really enjoyed the villa. It was beautifuly presented. The pool was lovely, with plenty of decking area for sunbathing. The games room was also well equipped. There was 8 of us and we had plenty of room. The owner was extremely helpful when contacted, and the neighbours were very friendly. The location was great, just a short drive to beaches, shops, etc. I would book again, as this is fantastic value for money. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Very relaxing and comfortable villa that made our stay very enjoyable.

Thank you Michael. The visitor guide was first class and was the best welcome pack we'd ever had. Directions were spot on and everything we needed to know about the villa was all there. Our eldest boy loved the pool table and table tennis set up in the basement. I am already missing the view of the mountain, and the boys are missing their daily football match on the football pitch a short walk away. The villa was very clean, pool well maintained and all utensils needed for cooking, etc...

What an excellent villa

Villa Fortuna is an excellent base from which to explore Gran Canaria. In a quiet village in the mountains but only a short distance from the (almost) circumnavigation motorway of the island. It has all the facilities and more to make a holiday one to remember Highly recommended

A week in Villa Fortuna

We are a group of 6 adults who have just had a lovely stay in Villa Fortuna. The villa was very clean, well equipped and had great views. We relaxed in the sun by the swimming pool and the table tennis table, the pool table and the barbecue were put to good use. We used the local shop (less than 10 minutes walk) which was well stocked and visited Bar Miguel (15 minute walk). We had hired a car so visited beaches and supermarkets on the coast which meant a 10 kilometre drive to the GC1 and on to where we were going - we particularly liked Puerto de Mogan and Amadores. Our favourite restaurant at Amadores was Portofino II where we had delicious food served by friendly waiters. We went on pedaloes, had fun at the Ocean Fun Park and had a couple of games of crazy golf. We had lovely warm weather for our stay in November and are very sad to be home.

Everything we needed

What a great house. It's on 4 floors! Games room downstairs includes a really high quality pool table. The pool outside was superb. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The lounge and two rooms had air con (the games room could do with air con too). 20mins drive through some country roads to the main strip. We didn't mind as 5min drive/20min drive, what's the difference? You still have to drive. Amazing views. One decent shop and couple very good restaurants in walking distance. We went out most nights and me (dad) and kids played in games room until about 2am. Great fun. I can't recommend it enough.

Our family really enjoyed staying in this Villa, very clean, spacious with good facilities.

We had a lovely stay here, it felt very homely. We spent lots of time in the pool and enjoying the pool table and gym equipment. The area felt very relaxing; away from the hustle of the other tourists, yet the drives didn't feel too long. We never tired of the views from the villa during our two weeks; the back drop looks very dramatic. The air con in the front room, main bedroom and one of the other three were much needed. I think an improvement would be to have air con in all bedrooms as in the end our three teenagers ended up sleeping in one room to have a good nights sleep! Overall a good value, beautiful villa which we felt very comfortable in!

Ideal villa as a base for relaxation and for touring the island

The villa is bang up to date. Everything works perfectly and logically. The leisure equipment is very generous and adds a great deal to the pleasure of staying. El Horno is purely a dormitory village, but with characterful neighbours and their pets whose lives go on all around. I think Villa Fortuna is the only rental house nearby.

A superb villa, in a quiet village setting with amazing views

Villa Fortuna was fantastically clean, tidy and very well equipped. We felt that every eventuality/need had been thought through - even down to having a cool bag available and cutlery/crockery for small children. We would definitely recommend it and would consider returning. Thankyou

high standard villa in quiet location

Really impressed with this spotlessly clean villa. The location was perfect for us as it was quiet and away from the resorts but close enough to drive to them. We loved the mountain views from the terrace and the peaceful atmosphere of el horno. The amenities within the villa were spot on. Everything we required was on hand . The kitchen well equipped. The bathroom had soft fluffy towels and the bedrooms were nicely furnished and provided a cool and comfortable nights sleep with ceiling fans and air conditioning.games room in the basement was great. We enjoyed playing pool but didn't have enough energy to use the gym equipment! The pool area was very relaxing, the pool was ideal and 4 comfortable sun beds were available on the deck. In the evenings we ate our meal on the main level terrace which had an awning to provide shade over a generous sized table. We highly recommend this villa if you want somewhere quiet but are willing to drive about 20mins to the nearest decent beach - which we believe is amadores beach due to its beautiful crushed shell sand and calm waters.

Having been to Gran Canaria on numerous occasions a number of factors stand out:

- beaches to the south of the island, mountain scenery, and city facilities in Las Palmas - there's something for everyone
- day-to-day life runs at a slower pace than back in England
- 4 hour flight time - important if you have young children!

What makes this property unique

The villa is a 12 minute drive off the main GC-1/Arguineguin. You have easy access to all the main shops and tourist areas but without the hustle & bustle of a tourist quarter. The view when you wake up and the sun rises over the mountains is out of this world.

The villa was recently built in 2007 and therefore provides modern accommodation. It comes loaded with all modern facilities such as Wifi, Air-conditioning, dishwasher etc. Also, there is a games room with a pool table, table tennis and gym equipment to keep you amused when not in the sun.

The villa has a new heated swimming pool that helps refresh you during those sunny days or under a star lit night.
